What started the madness…

Since we are at what some consider the mid-point of the season (the “real” season anyway), I decided to do a little persual through youtube today to see what fun videos were out there. Alas, I came upon three of the best ones that were part of the beginning of what I like to refer to as “Blake Mania.” Enjoy!

Making it through to the top 24:

Hey Sarah! I have that Hollywood performance of “How Deep Is Your Love” on my iPod. For me, that was my first OMG Moment of this season.

Who would’ve ever thought Blake would be the last member of the Gee Bees (and Bludachris) standing?

Mine too, Star. I loved that performance, and all 4 of the guys were great. That was when I first started to like Blake (I kinda liked his audition, but was prepared to completely despise him if he proved to just be a gimmick, lol). Then I was SO PISSED when Tom didn’t make it to the top 24. He would have been great eyecandy. LOL.

But yeah… I knew Blake would go far, but I thought Chris would be right there with him. Now Blake has to carry the torch for Bludachris (one of the best names EVER!). :)

I ignored Blake at first. I was prepared to hate the dude. Thanks for the early stuff. I lurve the guy. :)

Brandon, who? J/K. I will always root for Brandon.

I wasn’t really impressed with Blake’s audition at first, because I thought he was only beatboxing but when I heard his singing voice and saw his style I began to dug him.

BUT to be hinest with you the day I really fell for him was when he sang “Somewhere only we Know”. Literally I remember that I just stopped whatever I was doing and thought: This guy is going to the finals. And then he just kept bringing it week after week.
I am so happy that he is on his wasy to becoming a music star! Yay!

By the way can someone post Blake’s performance on Top 24 night?
Please! He looked so cute with his vest and pink shirt. And his parents were there. I love his dad…HE is so sweet..
That was a special night, the night I fell for Blake..

I have How Deep Is Your Love on my iPod too. Actually I have everything Blake’s done on my iPod. :) Man, seeing Chris S. in that performance reminded me of how good I thought he was at first. Too bad he didn’t make it further. I’m just glad Blake did though. Blake has always been amazing. :)

Thanks for those vids. It’s fun to look back at how far he’s come.

Yeah, I remember when he sang that, how excited I was to hear something different and current on AI. I knew he was going to be something special then. Oh and when the music first started up, my oldest daughter (5) came running in, so excited b/c she loves that song. :) She’s been on Team Plaid ever since, just like me. :)

Thanks ROlltide! Loved it! Love that song, maybe if Blake reached the finals he has to choose two songs to sing from his previous performances and maybe the Keane song would be great to do again.

Before I go to bed, can someone post this pic of Blake in the top?
I don’t know how to do it nor I am entitled to..

Either Sarah, pj or Star. Please. You will love it.
    Hottest Pic of Blake yet..

I think that one was posted last week, maracaibo, but sure we’ll post it again. :)

I’d love it if someone had a getty images account and could get these photos for us without watermarks. :)

Oh… OK Sarah… Thanks.. Don’t worry. I just love that pic!
I know, I don’t have an account at gettyimages either.

Sarah, I wanted Tom Lowe in the top 24, too. Oh, well.

    CZ, thanks for the link!!!!!

Woo hoo! Thanks for the link CZ! :)

Isn’t there some sort of rule that prohibits that much cute in one post? ;)

Glad that I’m not the only one who didn’t like him too much at first! Didn’t like his song choice *at all* but the beatboxing was cool. My husband liked him, but he bugged the heck outta me!

Then there was “How Deep Is Your Love” and I thought that his little beatbox/dance thing was adorable. Still not reason enough to be a huge fan, tho, since “this *is* a singing competition”. It was “Somewhere Only We Know” that did it. His performance was beautiful, smooth with a little controlled roughness. Now I’ve realized that his voice is a dream, the beatboxing is amazing, and he’s too cute to handle.

    GO BLAKE!!! :clap_tb:

Thanks for the videos. I think that may be the best group performance from Hollywood they ever have. I wonder if we’ll ever see the whole performance. I echo the sentiment about Tom Lowe. I was furious!

I loved the unusual song choice for his audition, and the Hollywood clips piqued my interest, but it was definitely the Keane cover for me. I couldn’t believe I was hearing that song on Idol. I fell in love with his tone. Just amazing. Been one of my favorites since.

Throwing more thanks in cz’s direction. Great gallery!

    Erinn,
I really wish they would release the whole performance. I have that small little section on my iPod, but would love to have the whole thing.

I’m with you all on SOWK being the turning point in your “fandom” - it definitely was for me too. The clips during Hollywood week had me intrigued, but still, as he said in his top 24 pre-performance interview, all that had been shown was his beatboxing - none of his singing (I remember a rumor that maybe he lost his voice that week? Can’t remember though, I’d have go to back to MJ’s Decmeber spoilers to see).

So, my jaw literally hit the FLOOR when he opened his mouth to sing SOWK. I too couldn’t believe I was hearing that song on AI… BRILLIANT move on his part. He really stood out that night as being one of the best, and at that point for me became the guy to beat. I was really surprised by him.

Now I’ve realized that his voice is a dream, the beatboxing is amazing, and he’s too cute to handle.

Perfect! Couldn’t have said it better myself!

    GO BLAKE!
