aww, that was sweet of the dj to do :) lol sounds like he’s an idol fan if he knows about the Runner Up Curse, although I thought that was just a tour thing.
IMO, I just want Blake to be this major success, this huge mega star. I want him to be given that chance to shine. To prove to the industry, he does belong here, that he is no gimmick. But I also know, that Blake is just ecstatic because he is given a chance, and that super stardom, is not on his list yet. He has always said all he wants to do is spread his music to the world. I’m not worried for his career, I guess I’m just worried, not enough people are hearing him and giving him a chance. The promo push is great, I am not complaining about that. I hope I made sense.
Anyways, here is the link to the Break Anotha Remix that DJ Sam I Am did. I used sendspace, but I am not sure if I did it correct. If not, can someone tell me how to do it.
Hey Guys, You know I am a big Blake fan but….. I went to his myspace today and his fans have played BA 2500 times today. Jordins Myspace showed 32,000 plays today. This was a couple of hours ago but Jordin seems to be gaining popularity, fast. Thats ok…I just want Blake to take off too…
One of the differences I see is that Jordin is staying pretty true to who she was on AI. I have also listened to parts of her cd and I like it. Blake is going off into his own direction. He always said he was going to do that so it is no surprise. We got a small dose of it on AI but not nearly what we are about to hear. This is just my opinion. I think he is going after a whole new group of fans which he doesn’t even have yet. It is a risk but one he is willing to take. I think he wants to do it his way no matter what. I could be wrong but it is my gut feeling. I am nervous too. I want him to be a big success! Maybe he doesn’t care as much as we do. Maybe he just wants to do his own thing and what happens happens.
Another thing, I have said nothing about this but since I am at it I will. I know he wants the best for his friends etc but, I think the stuff he has on his myspace page, I am talking about the silly videos. I can’t imagine they are helping him. The video with ethan etc are not in Blakes best interest IMO. Neither is that song he wrote about my space. Whatever… anxious fan …
Michelle when the DJ mentioned the curse of the runner up he named Kat, Justin and the other girl from season 3. The XM 20 is set up to vote on your favorite songs. The play the top 20 picked every few hours. Not that I listen all the time, but I have yet to hear BA on it. I’m guessing that is what he meant when he said it was up to us do our part. Vote to get him on the top 20 list. Once songs make it that list on a regular basis they play that song more in between the countdonwn. I vote when ever I can, but so far no luck. Tattoo is usually on the count down somewhere, as is So Small, Over You, and the 1R song. But they bounce all over the place.

DJ her myspace exploded as soon as her songs from her album were put on her site. I have been following both of the their myspace pages. When Tattoo first came out on her myspace the hits went up just about where Blake’s are now. When Blake just had is myspace song up it was getting views but nothing on the scale like he is now. After Tattoo had been on the radio awhile and started to climb the charts is when it really started to go up, a few weeks ago I believe. But like I said it really exploded after her album was released. She is getting more hits right now on her myspace than Carrie is. I don’t think Blake needs to change anything right now, that is who he is:)
ETA Okay just checked, not more than Carrie but pretty done close. Elliot is getting about 8,000 with five different songs on his myspace, and has one of the most played songs on the radio right now. Jordin is gaining in popularity right now because she has one of the top songs on the radio right now. These are not her AI fans, where right now a good bit of Blake’s are. Once his song starts climbing, he get’s a video out and goes on TRL I guarantee his site will get more hits. My point is this did not happen in a span of few weeks after her single was released, it has taken three months.

Nope changed my mind, one more thing to add. As far Blake not staying to true to himself like when he was on AI. I pretty much knew he wasn’t going to put out a Diana Ross, Bon Jovi, Latin, Country album. He has always said what is type of music was from the very beginning. Come to think of it 311 is one of his favorite bands and they are not some bigger seller, but that is who looked at for some of his insperation.
Yaaay Anne! I just heard that, too! It was nice to hear the DJ chatting up our boy. They are playing BA all!the!time on XM20. Seriously… like between every countdown. I hear it every time that I’m in the car.

And, I’ve already started speculating that the ballad he refers to as his favorite song on the CD, “How Many Words,” might be “Dumpty Humpty.” I read that, and the first thing in my mind was “How many questions…” He did tell us he was reworking Dumpty Humpty, Emotional Waterfalls, Jealousy….
Well, if that song is a reworked Dumpty Humpty, I am in heaven!I love that song.
I guess we will have to wait and see. But it does make sense.
Now I am also hoping a version of Emotional Waterfalls is on there too, that’s my very first original favorite.

well, it’s hard to say how much Blake will sell, there’s no way of knowing. He may very well sell as much as Jordin, even without the benefit of a Top 10 radio hit. Perhaps his fanbase is a little more devoted and will turn out to buy the CD, more than J fans did? It’s all speculative.
Yall my fave original Blkae song Is she loves the way I heard that in november before the janurary they showed his audition!!! when I saw that I said Balke should audition for AI!

I think Blake’s staying pretty true to who he is, too. I also believe he HAD to compromise to some degree (that’s why there is no SLTW on the album), so it’s hardly the case that he just did whatever he wanted. Even if the songs are going to be in a few genres, it sounds like he’s retained his electro-techno tendencies througout the CD. Electro-based hip hop and electro-pop-rock appear to be making a resurgence of late, at least based on what I’ve been hearing on the radio.
Hmm, trying to gain new fans outside of Idol is actually what ANY Idol should be doing. Yes, you don’t want to alienate your core fanbase but I doubt Blake will do that with this album he’s putting out. So, in that respect, Blake’s using some practical intelligence if that IS what he had in mind.
As for the “silly” videos, that is part of Blake’s appeal for some of us. We get sick of the tight-asses and boring folks on Idol, and like someone who’s a little odd ;). Don’t you think the record label is letting him have a little freedom regarding what he puts on that myspace? I’m pretty sure what they say goes, and I’m also pretty sure they will be PLAYING UP his alternative, quirky persona.

Man I might get smacked for saying this. But…..
again, IMO.. I keep reading that the album is Mainstream/Pop heaven. and I love it for being so. Gives more people to listen to his art/music, plus, we are assured its good non-generic pop. I guess, I just thought that maybe/sorta/kinda/could have/ done at least one song that was very electro. Like the tracks he did with KJ on his album, you know like WTO, or Move On. One of his favorite artist was Imogen Heap and he also likes Bjork (some of the reasons which attracted me to him on AI, we love that genre of music). Either way, Im STOKED, full exited, ready to blast that album, but just wanted to say that..
Also, I know this has nothin to do with the Charts..
But can’t you see the Here’s My Hello music video, in like a club setting with him scouting the dance floor and catching this girls eyes.. and then him dancing with her.. I guess sorta like the Waiting For Tonight video for Jennifer Lopez…
i dunno how much truth there is behind this.. but i read that Soundscan counts multiple albums buys as one if you buy them in the same place at the same time.. so you might want to give a heads up to everyone you know that plans on buying multiple Blake album copies to do so in different stores, or different days, so if you’re going to spend your money on Blake you can help him on the charts while you are at it too ;)
Nic, I agree with you completely - the silly videos are part of Blake’s personality. I can’t see how they would hurt him. His dorky fun side is very appealing to a lot of people. One of the most appealing things about Blake is that he’s true to himself. Like he’s said many times, “He likes people that are honest and sometimes tactless just like him”!

Personally, I am still LOVING the SLTW with BT. It’s a sort of ratedPG version, and yet is so much fun. (I adore it when he fools around like that, the shibby little elven man.)

What I want to say is this Blake appeals to me for several reasons. I love his creativeness his honesty, and lets face it he is a very talented artist. These qualities in my humble opinon will endear him to all age groups not just I think he is hot group or trendy group.
I notice on AOL when Break Anotha went to pop eater that Blakes appeals to people my age group to this bodes well for Blake. He will be one of the first cds I have bought in years because I actually want to hear him more then once.

I get the feeling that AI is throwing some serious payola at radio for Jordin so that they don’t suffer another season with a poor selling Idol. Taylor(however you feel about him and his sales)was an embarrassment to AI(according to them it seems) and I’m sure AI doesn’t want that again so the push for Jordin is going to be huge. I wonder if Clive and 19e really want Blake to do well or not. Holding Blake back affects them too. Wouldn’t they want BOTH of the Top 2 selling well? I don’t think that throwing some cash at Z100 for Blake would take away from Jordin.
It’s all timing. Blake’s cd will drop as BA struggles for airplay while Jordin’s cd has dropped with Tattoo already a hit. Blake HAS to debut in Billboard’s Top 5 or he’ll be the first runner-up not to(except for DeGarmo)! It’s so frustrating cause BA has HUGE HIT written all over it…it just needs the airplay. It’s on a platter for Clive…I hope he doesn’t ignore it.

Yes, Tactless means blunt, outspoken, candid. People who are tactless tend to speak off the top of their head, and not give alot of thought as to whether they are being rude or un-politically correct. They don;t mean to be rude or anything, but they are genuine and um, open in their responses.

Hey guys! Just checking in for a couple of minutes since I am not at home. haha! The kitchen in my house is being renovated and so I haven’t been able to check in so, I don’t know when I will be back home. As long as Blake is getting played on new stations, even though the process is slow, it’s still a good sign.
I’m quite sure his airplay will pick up in December, now that he’ll be on TV and on those various radio shows. I did hear Blake on the radio (WKSS) today, but the other local Top 40-HAC stations apparently aren’t playing him yet.
Ironically, they played “Apologize” right before “Break Anotha”, and then Elliott Yamin’s “Wait for You” after B.
