Don’t miss Blake on blogtalkradio today (8/5) at 3 pm ET.
In the meantime, enjoy this snippet of Blake’s interview with tvgasm. The full interview should be up in a few weeks. Enjoy!
Thanks, Kasia!
In other news, Johnny Nails sent out an email with the following tidbit:
We have official tour dates that begin October 1st on the East Coast!!!!! Right now, it is 27 or so dates all on the Eastern seaboard and hopefully (at least we are trying) to continue through November into the Midwest and West Coast. Why wouldn’t we do a full States tour? Talk amongst yourselves.
Not getting Johnny’s emails? Email him at johnnyontheroad@gmail.com to be added to his distribution list.

I just sent MJ an email about the wireimage vids. I think she had an account at one time. Not sure if it’s active or if it includes videos, but there’s some hope. Hang tight!
Thanks pj!!!!!
And thanks Kasia for the videos. Blake looked a little sunburn in that TVgasm clip. He looked and sounded great. I would still love to see Blake do character voices in animated films. He is a natural.
This was a return to the B I love. He was comfortable, friendly and open in this interview. I serously was worried about him after reading body language from him lately. He seemed a bit out of place, or maybe that was just me. I’m thrilled to see this interview. Thanks Kasia..I have a new name for you…Bringer of Goodies!
To all, I just posted a blog on last weeks chat. Sorry you have to back up in time to get my ramblings…hugs, d
newduck– No, it wasn’t only you. I have been wondering about him myself…but he did seem very relaxed there. :-) I really really enjoyed seeing him get all lit up, talking about the tv shows with the interviewer girl. Very natural, and honest. I like that.
The character voice thing–wouldn’t that be so great? It would be a fun thing, for him.
Not to take anything away from babyDavid, but look at the ad that features right on this page, above. Here’s the Link, it shows. This, right here, is some nice advertising.*sigh*
Jive seems to really know how to support and promote their artists; at least that is what I am seeing with Jordin and now babyDavid. babyDavid is already getting airplay on Z100 just like Jordin did. They seem to be following the same game plan with David as they did with her.
EOTW - I too noticed that babyD is etting airplay on Z100..just wish arista had pushed for B…oh well
Newduck - I was wondering what marketing would be done for his tour..hopefully they pulled the right levers and people become aware of the 27 tour - ??? does the sale of his album now go to him or to the late Arista?
Sorry… I posted a reply on the old blog, too! It’s about two-er promotion :)
Joyce, Newduck- Jamaica from B.L.Army called Blake last week and they had a nice long chat . He mentioned two-er, but didn’t spill on the actual schedule so don’t even ask lol. B.L.Army are promoting his two-er at the AI concerts, an idea that Blake thinks is very clever, and we’re still accepting volunteers to help with the teaming.
okay what is “two-er”? promoting his CD as well as his tour? lost
will volunteer if he is in my neighborhood, or will buy CD’s to pass out but his promoters at the concerts should be youngum’s and not grandmas..I think he would get a better boost in sales from the younger cheerleaders
okay I was on the radio with Blake!!!!!! on BLogtalk radio….he picked up my call from area call 610…well I asked him if was going to release a video for HMW and if KMN would be released as well as if when on tour, would he be releasing new singles? he replied he can’t release a video unless a cheap version for youtube since he doesn’t have the rights…I told him I want him to tour in Phila….told him he had a lot of support from team plaid, the secretary of plaid was on as well as the Blarmy and idolbored so to keep in mind a lot do love his music and to continue to make his own music …that’s the gist of it…he thanked his supporters
Yes, that was a nice preview of the interview. But I think a lot depends on hosts and type of questions they ask. Those who are respectful to Blake, ask relevant questions, and seem to be knowlegeable about Blake’s music or at least did some research, usually get great interviews from Blake.
Newduck, thanks for the nice name but I think all bloggers here bring wonderful goodies about Blake. I would say the site would deserve the name, not just me.
Also, thanks Dallas for updating us on what is going on with Blake.
Finally, I was not able to listen to the entire interview at the internet site. If anyone would not mind giving a little synopsis what was covered, that would be great.
What I heard was that they are still waiting for confirmation of places of the tour.
Joyce, I might have heard the end of your call. Did he say about Philly’s concert?
Kasia - I didn’t hear any specifics about exactly where he would be touring…as I was ready to ask another question, I was “clicked off” I quess I had my 3 questions and they moved onto another caller…couldn’t believe I got thru…I just want him to be positive and supportive for him..you know it happens so fast, sometimes your mind goes blank
Way to go Joyce!!!!! I couldn’t listen to it live either (stupid work got in the way). Does anyone have a link to a podcast of it or something?
Joyce, “two-er” = tour. Blake’s fans just make fun of the way Blake always says that word. He makes it sound like 2 words: two-er. LOL
Yeah, that was awesome that some of you got to talk with him! Joyce represented like WHOA! LiLisa got such great info, and ILoveBlake got an actual tourdate from him… Jacksonville!
There is a download link here:
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/stations/bc/btrtoday
Thanks for the link jenlar.
Jenlar– wasn’t it sweet, when he recognized LilLisa’s moniker, and his voice warmed up? Really a nice moment. He was a little standoffish I thought, until the fan interaction. How lucky that THREE diehard fans got a hold of him on there! :-) Yay for Joyce!
It’s really nice how he always comments what good fans he has. That is always nice to hear, the appreciation. Thanks so much to everybody for bringing the site link over for us to share!
(his interview begins at 91:15 minutes in, for those looking to ffwd the interview tape)
Just got a chance to finally listen to the interview. Thanks for telling us where it started Bully.
Mmmmm….”Orchestral Drive-by” that is a cool title. I was very sad to hear everything about the record label. Now that I see all the promotion that Jive is giving Jordin and BabyD, it just makes me mad. Oh well, glad he is shopping other labels. His true love is electronic music. He gets so excited talking about it. The interviewer made a great/ironic point. The fact that he was so different on Idol is what made him great and popular, but after Idol, he then did not fit into the “norm” from a record label’s perspective and they didn’t know what to do with him. That is probably true with other idols: Taylor, Bo for example. If they had a music identity before idol, it is then probably hard to get “molded” into what the label wants you to become. The big labels don’t take risks and play by a common formula which works great for young artists such as Jordin and Baby D. Blake needs to be with a label that will showcase his electronic talents.
Everyone did a great job with the call-ins and the questions. Very cute! You gals rocked!
ah the middle of the week..decided to go down” memory lane”
on YouTube….listening to I Need to Know, Virtual Insanity, YGLABN and TIME OF THE SEASON which I thought blake emitted so much sex…hot tamales!!!!!!!! oh yes bring it on
I still think his versions were the best ever delivered by contestants..
oh dear…too much time to day dream ..back to work
Joyce–ITA. It actually is one of the things that has been most frustrating, with being in his fandom. He says that how he was in Idol was “himself”, but then after Idol he is different. We think he is going to give us more of teh awesome, because? YEOOWW! Yes, morepleasetx! But then we scratch our heads wondering about the two-sides of him. I despair of ever seeing SWBL evah evah again, and then? He starts doing it in his acoustic performances! Even yesterday in his interview, he was saying all this above– but then I remember the RHCP BA which he said showed the “real” him…IDK.
He was so amazingly awesome during Idol, I just don’t know why he unaware of it. Even his YouTubes hold up! Right now, any performance of his from the Tour is made of awesome, and that is a year later.
bULLY
I think he doesn’t take credit due to the fact that those were “idol” songs..surely he has to know how amazing he was…girls were screaming for him..
…had Arista marketed him right, I believe more fans would have been introduced to a truly artistic, innovative singer/songwriter….EOTW mentioned that Blake did not fit into the “norm” from a record label’s perspective..in otherwords, putting a square into a round hole…that’s where Arista made their mistake, they didn’t capitalize on his electronic/beatboxing/freestyle genre …KMN would have been a great 1st song as well as within the club scene…oh well
this tour just might pick up new fan base
well, let me go back to revisiting Youtube and enjoying some great performances as well as smooth singing
s
Bully, I think when he says he stayed true to himself, he meant that he kept the song about the music and tried to make each song a little different from what we would normally hea. I don’t think he compromised his belief in what was important during the whole show, it was all about the performance and the music, giving everyone a good show.
As far as that being the music he would have chosen, I doubt very much he would have agreed with that. He just made the most of what he had access to there. His shoes before and after Idol are much more “him” in that he is open to improvise and embelish where he wants. That’s what music is all about anyway, making it your own. It’s a lot more “you” when it starts out your own and just progresses from there. It’s hard to make someone’s song your own completely, though I do think he did well with that challenge.
I guess it’s just how we interprete “I stayed true to myself” in whether we feel he truly did or not. In all actuality, only he knows the answer to that.
Joyce,
After reading the posts today I have to comment that you hit the nail on the head when you talk about watching B’s Idol performances on the Youtube. If you can’t guess, I have them all saved on my favorites at home and at work. When I’m working, I start with no 1 SOWN and work my way down the list, stopping at TIMN (Least favorite). While I never watched idol pre-blake, I have gone back and looked at what people have said were the best performances. Also at most of this years, at least those that were raved about. I might be a tad bit biased, but listening to B’s were all better than most others and watching them are by far better than most. Of course there were a couple not as good, but in most instances you can see that he “owned” the song while performing. While Keep me Hangin on was a bit showy, the arrangement was excellent, to the point that Diana and her son both told Blake they loved it, so much for Simon and Randy thinking it shouldn’t be changed.
So, as everyone noticed, Arista never gave Blake a chance. He and the record company thought it would sell itself. Producers said they expect 3 to 5 M copies. No support. Had they put support into ADD like B did, it may have done that well. I listen to the radio everyday and end up flipping channels repeatedly. I usually end up hitting cd 1 or 6, which are Idol 1-18, or ADD. Both better than what the radio is playing. I believe ADD had enough of Blakes electronics and beatboxing with nice vocals to make him feel total proud, as I am of that music.
The future holds more electronicia, nice voice and clean arrangements, multi-layered music. We have to wait and see.
Kent told me the two-er is mostly over 21 clubs. We will have to see what that produces too.
Like most of what you all write, I love the album and I loved all the idol performances. What the f— I love the kid.
Good day to you all and many hugs, d
newduck–Articulate as always. :-)
Joyce– This was maybe the most interesting point of his Arista talk, yesterday for me: He wanted BT to Produce the album, and make it more electro sounding. I think that may have put a better slant on the music market, in all honesty. We as fans do trust his sensibilities for putting the “twist” on musics. I think if the album had been allowed to be tweaked, we may have gotten a different result– altho I still don’t know how TV show friendly the performances would have been.
It’s all a world away from SWBL, or YGLABN. Simple is better, IMO. It needs to be able to be duplicated with some sort of consistancy Live. Otherwise, it’s all lip sync and pre-recorded, and who cares? Him being able to create the music, and create the “spell” is what makes him an artist.
We haven’t even scratched the surface on what the boy is actually capable of–and that’s the most exciting part these days, for me.
Big D,
What the f- we love the album and “the kid” also!
*hugs BigD back*
just wondering if anyone knew how HMW was doing on the dance chart or w.e (:
Theresa,
I believe it went from #8 to #10.
I am also so surprised, although this was already mentioned and suspected, that the label provided so little support for the album. I am glad this chapter is over for Blake and hopefully in addition to a fantastic album that we are enjoying, from this experience, he gained more wisdom in doing things from the business perspective for the future records or deals.
It was just all messed up! It didn’t really surprise me though.. I mean the same things happened to Taylor and Kat… Taylor had the same problems (if not worse) than Blake. BUT it did sadden me, because the album is so worthy. All the things to make it successful were there, yet they didn’t use them, it’s a shame. I don’t worry about Blake, he won’t stop making noise, whether people want to hear it or not LOL.
I did some BLArmy work at the Modesto show, it was fascinating how many people didn’t even know he has an album out… and they came specifically to see him! Strange. Same thing at the Idol tour.
I’m excited for the tour.. even if that means heading to the east coast!
Yes, HMW is #10 for the week of 8/16/08, and is #8 for the week of 8/9/08
Hooray for two-er!! I’m excited for all you east coasters!! =D
Heh! Heather– truer words were never spoken! :-D
I agree, that he’s not going to stop doing his thing, dabbling in other musics for the fun of it– no matter WHAT people say, crossing genre-lines as he goes. He doesn’t seem to be worried about picking just one, but enjoying it All! I can’t help but admire that intrepid adventurer spirit, even if it does make him difficult to market.
In other news– for those of you wondering what Brooke might do post-Idol? There seems to be an awakening market for her type! Yay! Delta Goodrem has the Top 10 video on VH1, and is making a beautiful impact on things. Got her album last night for $9.72 at Walmart, and it was the last one– so I am pleased, and encouraged for Brooke’s sake at the potential.
Another Brooke type is hana pestle, who we saw open for Live this past week. She got a awesome response from the crowd, who were in the minor numbers since it was early yet, but that kind of music definitely has a big market. She stood in an outside tent throughout most of the other show (3bands) and all three bands said nice things about her during their sets. She had a line of people buying CD’s and t-shirts during most of the rest of the show too.
While our Secretary of Plaid toils away– I brought over the link to the new Conversation with Blake! It’s at Idolbored MS, but should be visible to everybody.
:-) Have a Taco, and a smile.
Oh yes… Plaid… she’s currently under a pile of glow bracelets and jewelry findings with Jamaica :D
Thanks for bringing over the link, Bully. Jamaica & I are going to try to chat today about the rest of the Idol tour promotion (figuring out who gets what) and then hash out some new ideas that we came up with last night. Lots of good stuff coming from Blake and The B.L.Army!
Blake sent out a bulletin on MySpace which includes an AWESOME interview he did with Hollywood Pop Culture. 11 Clips and two performance vids!! It’s possibly the best Blake interview I’ve ever seen. He’s EXTREMELY real in it. Wow, I’m still shocked (in the great way!) :)
Greeneyes! OMG! You totally made my day!
*still flailing over freestyle beatboxx*
Now this is the kind of interviews I love to see! :-D Also? I have watched the beatbox vid 3 times already. Love love love it. The sound! So crisp and clear!((hugs monitor))
Check also Blake’s new puppy. He sent a new blog. So adorable in two pictures.
ugh. I wish I hadn’t watched those. I’m soo not cool with the married woman thing. bummer.
Uh-oh newduck. I must need to keep watching the vids…only seen 3 or so.
Kasia– that puppy is adorable. I loved that he gave a shout-out to Petfinder.com and adopting shelter animals. It’s important, IMO.
Who needs a pretty in their mailbox? Drop me an e-mail or hit me on myspace :)
That blog melted my heart. Sir Diddimus is just too adorable!!! Those pictures of him and B are so cute!! I LOVE that he is spreading the word on animal rescue and that he got Sir Dids through Petfinder.com. And Bshorty playing basketbal?? Hehe, I can’t picture it, but it’s awesome that he’s doing it for charity.
And greeneyes, I agree that the interview with Hollywood Pop Culture is one of the best Blake interviews ever. He was so open and honest, really great stuff. I missed seeing his face, and it’s always nice hearing him go on about music and life. So those videos were perfect, just what I needed. Love him!
Well-said Nikki. I watched them all (finally) and I have to say, he was very open and responsive to the girl interviewing him. He was candid, but nice, you know? I liked it alot.
newduck–The thing about the married lady: we don’t know what her home situation was like, but he seemed like he trod carefully there. I don’t hold it against him. He seemed respectful, but honest.
The whole interview was really kind of sweet. Nice to see him interact, and ham it up for the cameras.:-)
segment4- Idol, using the cameras to maximum, and Arista
segment 5– OCD and the concept of producing
segment 7– Love and Relationship
segment 10–Idol music
They are all good, but these are must-sees.
