Someone posted this video over at Blake's MySpace comments. I thought it was pretty hilarious. Does it look sort of familiar? :laugh_tb:

Thanks EOTW. Yes, it was etertaining but not even close to the original one. :laugh_tb:

Slow few days with the news. I hope we will hear soon about those charity events that Blake is supposed to be involved in. Let's also keep fingers crossed that soon we will get some update about the tour in September.

It would be interesting to hear what B had to say about that. It made me laugh.

I want tour news too. If I have to drive somewhere I will but I need time to make arrangements. Anything for B!

It's so quiet here I couldn't stand it any longer. Decided I need to post. It looks like Blake is having fun at home. I'm glad. Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th! Thanks for the Tost vids! I must say once more how much I love that Canal Room vid. This time last year I was getting excited for the Idol tour. I won't be going this year - (no Blake). I sure hope he hits my neck of the woods when he goes on tour!

oh vacations go so fast...back to work

Crystal J...I never know when I get picked up "live"" I usually call in on Mondays and in the past month, I've been picked up 3 times on a Monday..How can I request KMN when 'officially' it hasn't been released?

just emailed a request in and the responded back that they will play HMW as they too love Blake...interesting..so let's see if they are pulling my leg..in any case, I will keep trying but if I do get 'picked up" on request I'll see what he says...

loved jealousy at the Canal Room ..sometimes I think he should just stick to singing as his performance from Tost in Seattle sometimes the HMV got lost..too chopped up with sound effects..his voice is so pure and love those high notes

can't wait to hear about a new CD or touring..he better come to Philadelphia but I do beleive small venues are his 'forte'

Greetings all at Teamplaid! I know people are checking in like i do.
*waves*

Joyce-- you said this-

..sometimes I think he should just stick to singing as his performance from Tost in Seattle sometimes the HMV got lost..too chopped up with sound effects..his voice is so pure and love those high notes

I would love to see more of him singing, also. Straight up, sweet, and showing the world (again) that he really does have the sweetest, purest voice. Everytime I hear M5 or Ryan Tedder on the radio I think, "He should be doing stuff like this." But I guess, he feels someone else already is, IDK. Whatever it is, as much fun as the looping is to watch and hear, I would like more scaled back stuff, that can be replicated beautifully true-to-fashion live. Alot of the criticsm he gets is from this topicline, but the beat goes on.

Thanks for the Interview after the CanalRoom show, posted above! The interview was really interesting, what with the way he responded, and spoke about his beliefs and being raised by a "hippie rock star mom" heh! I liked hearing him speak very much, esp with the way he brought up SLTW and the glitched BT version. He sounds like he really wants to embrace that sound, like he mentioned in the earlier Woods/jazzy/electronic comment.

In other news, the new version of AVG virus is messing up my pc. I fear a meltdown that will rob me of my preshusss-preshusss treasures saved up on here! I wonder if what happened to Crystal J's pc will happen to mine. yikes.

Sending love to all those lurking, and enjoying the IdolTour-age.

Hi everyone! It's been pretty quiet lately. Here is a great video that someone took at the Idol tour. It is the promo that they are running on the screens at the show. What a great idea for 19 to promote the Idols! Hope it will help sell the album. Thanks to the person who posted this on YouTube (heatherlovesclay).

Thanks EOTW for the vid footage. It looks like it is alot of the promo vid done for the album. It was nice to see. I too, hope people in the audience(captured? heh!) see it and remember just WHY it was they liked that guy from S6. Yup.

300K isn't a milestone, 500K is the number they look for in sales I guess. All he'd need is a boost, one hit really to push the album...but, yeah. I'm glad that HMWremix is doing well in the club market. That'll get him exposure and downloads. :-)

There was the cutest Tour recap in comments at Rickey's last night-- it reminded me of my own excitement, last year. Wordy, and wanting to share the joy-joy, I had to chuckle. It was nice, remembering. Thanks again to Blake, and all the Idols, for being so great to the fans along the way. It means alot.

amazon is now charging $14.99 for his CD. Last week the price was $13.99. What kind of marketing is that? cut the price, just maybe they would sell more. I swear they are giving him the shaft. Put the CD at $9.99 and they would sell a lot more...everyone knows a 'sale' are incentives to purchase, not full price. what are they thinking?????????

Ohh, that's a great promo video there! Many people don't even know Blake has an album out. Hopefully this piece will catch their attention and they will seek out ADD. Also, it can't hurt that he looks GORGEOUS in some of the clips from the different photoshoots. Very nice.

joyce, no that's not a new Blake song on his myspace. It's coming from a few of the comments someone left.

From what I hear, this year's tour is not the most original of shows, with each Idol coming on stage in order from 10th place to winner to do a set. No duets, no group numbers. I enjoyed last year's show because of the revue format and how each Idol got a solo yet also perform duets and group numbers. Gave the fans a chance to see Cake perform or Melinda and Lakisha sing together or the unlikely pairing of Sanjaya and Melinda. The way last year's concert was set up was a lot more fun. I think this year's fans are a bit cheated--one of the best things about this year's finale was that duet between Michael Johns and Carly but they're not reprising it. Oh well, I'm not going, and I'm sure most fans feel they're having fun and getting their money's worth.

I'm looking forward to seeing footage of Blake at this year's summer meltdown festival in Washington state. That's where he did that Jimmy Walker Blue video two years ago.

Star,

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m having a hard time getting excited about Blake going back to doing what he did two years ago, pre-Idol.

This is so interesting. I was actually listening a few days ago to songs that Blake did on AI and preidol songs. I still like a lot of AI covers but I do prefer listening to his original songs from ADD and I really enjoyed listening to several preidol songs including Dumpty Humpty, Transmission, Emotional Waterfalls, Jealousy, and SLTW. Some of the songs, as we saw on youtube, sounded a little raw and I hope he could refine them having the experience he got in the past 2 years. If the video of SLTW, the one with BT, is an indication of his evolvement as an artist over the past 1-2 years and the direction he might want to go, I really like what was done with the preidol material.

It is just my guess, but I am not sure if Blake intends to go back to preidol music completely. But I have a feeling that is where his musical roots are and will influence him to some extent in the future. We will have to be patient and wait till the second album is finished to get a sense where he is heading.

I think I know what you mean, star. It is Old news to us, who have been following him, and he has come further than that now. He has met all kinds of people and now has the opportunity to try new grooves. What he did was great in it's (small)venue and time, but we want NEW stuff, now. Preferably, some stuff that shows his growth and time maturing in Idol and with all the people he has worked with.

If he doesn't find a way to segue his music into a more straightforward way singing, he is at risk for being a club novelty, or being dubbed a one trick pony. He kept saying how he was in Idol to sing and pursue his craft, and I'd really like to see that. His voice is too nice to not hear. Him doing 311 and M5 and all that shows he really CAN do it, and do it well I think. More singing makes him a crooner, a star, not just a sound effects guy.

I so agree with you Bully regarding the direction of his music...I would prefer for him to hone in on just singing although I do enjoy when he builds a song with his 'beats' and then sings and harmonizes to the backdrop he has created..but as I said previously, at the Tost show, his HMW got too chopped and I felt he lost the original version of this song which has a message. I couldn't hear the melody oh well...he enjoys those noises but I do feel there is a time and place for these musical instruments effects...he needs to continue in the direction of his Canal Room gig...his ATB was absolutely brilliant... how many past or present AI contestants have that ability?????

BUt time will tell and he will follow the path that he enjoys and heres to hoping mad success

I actually prefer B on songs like My Eyes and Julie. I know that he is sort of background on those, but he could definitely have a hit with either of them. They tell good stories and they use the sweetness of his voice in rather rough songs. He needs to play in that zone a bit more.

I'm not a big fan of the multi-track songs where we lose the harmony and I'm not sure I would buy an album that had a bunch of that. The production on ADD didn't go there and I loved that about it. It showed his voice, his pop sensibilities and some of his "extra talents".

ATB was wonderful at times, but I think it also started to go into the multi-overpowering thing. When we have to listen to 3 of him singing, he loses his voice. I know he likes the noise, but I prefer the understandable over the jumbled.

Yep, I agree with you newduck. It seems we have a couple different talents that Blake showcases; the beatboxxing/vocal sound-layering with other people, or when he sings outright, like a song himself.

My Eyes I find impossible to listen all the way thru, because of the difficult lyrics. It's too rough for me listening to gang stuff, I can't. However, I know what you mean, because of the feats he's done for other artists, like on that sweet "Strawberry Love" song Kasia found. His tone is haunting on that-- I just love it.

His voice can really reach people. It draws you in. The "effects" are fun, but in the end it comes down to the voice, IMO.

I am loving Emotional Waterfalls more every time Blake sings it. I preferred the version in Canal Room but this one is very exciting too. The video is from Tost. I do not think it was posted here.

Oh, y'all kind of missed my point...I like some of Blake's pre-Idol music (SOME, not all). What I meant was, it's hard to get excited about him playing at the same clubs and events (ie, Summer Meltdown) in WA that he did prior to Idol.

Star,

I get what you are saying, but I don't think it's the same as what it was pre-Idol. Do you feel like this is a step back? I don't see it that way, I certainly don't look at this as a failure...going back to the old job kind of thing. Besides, he never played the SM as a featured artist, he just got the side stage sort of gig, didn't he? And now he has it listed as a three day gig for him. That is definitely a step up in the exposure/opportunity department and a fun time for him, I'm sure.

Don't you think it's important for musicians to keep a hold of their roots. I kind of think it's great that he can go back there and still play these types of gigs. The Meltdown is what music is all about. All of his friends are there and the jamming opportunities will be incredible. If the SM is like any of the "non-commercial" fests that I have been to, it's a wonderful opportunity to just be among other musicians and music-loving peeps for a whole weekend. A great vacation-type thing. It's not about the "suits" side of music and I think he really needs that right now. It will be a great reminder of what music is supposed to be in the first place, creative, entertaining, fun, inspiring, and something to share with people who can appreciate it.

Excellent point newduck about Summermeltdown and the opportunity it presents to Blake (and other musicians) to just revel in the joy of making music and a chance to escape the "suit" side of the music biz. I much rather have Blake do Summer meltdown than do another radio station morning dj tour answering the same questions about American Idol and Sanjaya and not getting his single played in return for having to endure the same tired, boring questions.

Kasia-- Yes! I was afraid to just say it.
I'm sorry for the confusion, but I thought I'd mention it here,as not everyone has a MS and the opportunity for late-breaking news.
If you click on a highlighted moniker, it brings you to a site addy like MySpace.(MS) Click my name, and go to the blog.

Summer Meltdown will be fun for him, being with his peeps-- a busman's holiday. He deserves time to let his hair down, so to speak. :-)

Oh, okay, the PO Box info I got. Thanks. I was thinking it had somethign to do with a new CD since that was talked about right after Bully's email. Wishful thinking!

The LLC thing is interesting. So the guys are one step from a corporation now. Someone is giving B and the boys the right information now. This was a good idea and I"m assuming the boys are his partners, or maybe just KJ maybe?

Seattletimes.com has some nice articles on upcoming events, just search Blake Lewis at the top of the page. Also, an interesting parting shot, back when Arista released Blake...

June 24: Arista says bye-bye Blake Lewis

Bad news for our pal Blake Lewis ... unless you think — as Blake seems to — that getting dropped from your label is a good thing.

Blogs picked up the news late Sunday and on Monday the Web site Idolator.com reported that Arista had dropped the Seattle singer-beatboxer. Blake claims he never really wanted to be signed to a major label anyway, and that it was the label meddling that made his one release (last year's "Audio Day Dream") so terrible. (Hear a sample at his MySpace — www.myspace.com/blakelewis; read the full Idolator entry here — http://idolator.com/396832/arista-drops-idol-runner up-blake-lewis-after-less-than-a-year).

Well, sounds like the whimsical, uncategorizable guy is getting what he wants. Good luck, Blake.

Nice.(not)
It was only last year he was their hero, right? *sigh*

Bully, I am sorry if I spoiled the surprise element yesterday but I did not want people to set expectations too high about the news in the blog. It is still great news that there is a place for fans to communicate with Blake beside myspace.

Modesto Bee Interview

"Q: I understand you're already working on your next release. What can people expect from that?
A: I'm producing a record with KJ. I would say it's like Massive Attack meets Zero 7. It's a production record with many other vocalists. I am writing every song with the artists and myself. It's been fun. I'm hoping to have it done the first of the year."

Mmmmm....a record with many other vocalists?????

I get the impression that he is producing it, he doesn't really say it's his album. I'm guessing this is the next KJ album with guest vocalists, but that's just a guess. I know KJ is having a contest to select graphic art for a new album soon to be released, so this might be the one. I don't think this sounds like the next Blake Lewis album.

I still think he has massive producing talent, and his ear leans well to that "job", so I'm not suprised to see him working on that side of music. I do hope he still makes his own CD's and/or does guest vocals on other peoples (ala Julie/My Eyes, yep them again) which I expect he will, but I think he has so much skill to give other musicians on the producing end that I'm glad to hear he is doing this.

Excellent news about HMW, Kasia!

EOTW-- re MS:I'd hate for you not to have good news like that. I hear there are lurkers on here since the winter who are not fans, otherwise I would have just said it outright. I guess I just had a paranoid moment, for Blake. Wanting to balance out news with personal stuff, I felt like I trod a line. Kasia cleared it up pretty neatly.

Now something like an album?? I'd be blabbing it unless Blake himself asked me not to! LOL. We know I am not above blurting out good stuff I find. That's part of the joy-joy.

Bully,
Don't worry about non-fans. Those messages can be cleared out by the mods and they can be dismissed from the site pretty easily. No one should ever let fear of negative responses keep them from saying something. Rock on girl, things are mostly safe here.

Hey guys, I haven't been around here in awhile, so I thought I would stop by.
I lost all my Blake songs from Idol (the live performances) awhile ago, and I've been trying to find a site to download them, but all the forums I go to, the media section has the list of the songs, but they are no longer available because they are so old. So I was wondering if anyone new somewhere I could download all of Blake's live performances from Idol???? Thanks!!!

Thanks for the info Kasia!

Nora,

Aren't they all out on YouTube? There is free software out there that will let you download YouTube videos onto your PC. I have one for the Mac called TubeTV. I believe Kasia listed one a few weeks ago called vixy.net. When I used that one, I got video but no sound, but maybe it was because I was on a Mac. Not sure. You could try it though.
