Hey guys!

I have to say, today has been a kind of annoying day for me. As you know I'm a David Archuleta fan, and I spend a lot of time over at archuletafans.com. Awhile back they all went crazy over Blake's small comment on Archuleta being boring, and there was just continuous Blake bashing over there. It really annoyed me, but it finally settled down. Unfortunately it has started up again. These kinds of things make me sad, why do they feel it is necessary to bash Blake?

Nora-- I know what you mean. I don't understand the Blake-hate at all.
:-( I feel badly that the fandoms feel they have to turn on one, to support another. Not only that, but the hate just hurts, IMO. *sigh*

Hang in there girlie.

Aiyee Chiquitas....I just look at it as evidence of immature minds that can't see that a difference in taste/style/opinion is not an aspersion on them or the artist they like.

\
the good thing he likes his music and he said we will not look like obsessive fans if the emails keep coming in that is the only way right now to get the songs played

I told him about the apple festival and his ATB is it posted yet on YouTube? he will take a look at ATB and I will email him at priestly@xmradio.com

I told him if he plays Leoni instead of Blake, I would personally beat him with a stick he said "bring it on"...great humor

He has made another comment about Archie? If it is the same thing that he said a few months ago, they really need to let it go. Its unhealthy to carry such a grugde.

True, thats why I usually just hang out with the Blakers, although I did like some contestants in season 7, I just usually kept myself to the Blake boards, no need to get myself into petty arguments.

Joyce-- Kasia found the YouTubes of the GreenApple Festival, and ATB. :-)

Also, please don;t forget to keep voting for Blake on the Summerjams site. He is going down in percentages, as other fanbases catch on.

I wanted to mention this, as an interesting possibly new thing--
I was watching CMT and a bit of an interview with a new girl group that will be touring with a big name male star. I didn't know these girls, and so we know they must be just starting out. The interviewer said, that their New Debut Album was going to be digitally released, like next week, iTunes, Amazon etc, and to get it there.

Which brings me to my point: I had heard that the industry was going to experiment with releasing albums direct to download, to save on costs, esp with new artists/unproven big numbers producers. I wonder if we are starting to see this trend? If so, they must be counting on the young people to help push the market, and even get us older people jumpstarted.

My question would be, however, if they are already worried about piracy and illegal downloads affecting sales, won't this just make it worse?

Hey guys, so I found this today.

http://www.musiqtone.com/

It's a poll for the artist of the month (It's on the right)

Anyways I don't know if it is just a little poll, or if it actually means something, but I just that it would be a cool little thing we could vote in to support Blake. Sadly he's behind by a lot. But I just thought I'd share!

Yeup, that is actually where I found it, at an archuleta fan site, since I am an Archuleta fan as well.
And even though I love David Archuleta, I'm voting for Blake in it, because David hasn't really done anything yet, and I think Blake deserves it a lot more.

musiqtone has a Poll there that you can Vote at 25 times a day.
This site has been very good to Sarah Vonderhaar, and could be as well to Blake, with encouragement. :-)
They liked his album-- check out the review. I don't remember reading it, before.

quick note...
Blake's ATB video is featured on Kidscom.com

You have to register to see it, but it's kind of neat that it's there. It was loaded there on June 5th.

Oh yeah, and the David Aude Radio mix is #89 on top 100 dance tunes. That's kinda cool

Exactly! We may mention that we weren't fans of a certain person or we didn't like this and we didn't like that but we don't dwell on things and degrade people, because thats exactly what they are is people and they deserve to be treated the exact same as us. Just because someone is famous now or is on tv doesn't mean they are heartless and don't care what others think of them because they do and the critics can really break down a person!

Exactly! We may mention that we weren’t fans of a certain person or we didn’t like this and we didn’t like that but we don’t dwell on things and degrade people, because thats exactly what they are is people and they deserve to be treated the exact same as us.

I agree. :-) Blake is my personal interest, but I get that other people have different ones. I have been supportive of some Idols more than others, but I find after the show is over I have room in me to like almost ANY of them. It's a nice group feeling, that I don't want to deny myself by being prejudiced.

They are all people, just like any of us. Besides, I would not want to step on someone's feelings just to validate my own. I think if someone really found someone to like this season, that's great. It's all about the discovery, and music along the way.

I know we had several videos from KFEST but this one has pretty good sound and is close up of Blake. He sings a portion of HMW and is beatboxing. If you want to skip other performers, Blake starts singing at about 2 mins 17 sec. Enjoy it.

I cannot get it work either.

What a clever idea though to spread Blake's music that way.

They are working for me. I am on a Mac computer running Safari. Maybe try using a different browser? Blake's music plays while you're playing the games. It is a very clever idea. The games are really fun.

The games are working great for me, but I know quite a few people who can't make them play. For the record, I'm using the Firefox browser instead of IE.

I think I read that COmmom Market is playing in Seattle I beleive this weekend and they mentioned that a surprise guest would perform...hint, hint, hint...they posted a comment on Blakes website..can't find it now but of course they were referring to Blake...so its a possibility that he is performing this weekend...anyone know about this?

Joyce,

I saw that too. Lucky people who live in Seattle. So many guest appearances for Blake, not sure if it means that he will perform with them.

Speaking of concerts, Johnny Nails put also a poster about his upcoming concert. I think June 18 but I am not sure where. Finally, Kevin will be appearing in Pa in June at Jambaloosa in caves ( http://www.jambaloosa.com/loe.htm) Sounds really interesting.

Also, my tickets to Canal Room arrived today. Yes, we are going. I am stoked.

If you're in the CT/Mass the BLArmy needs YOU!!! We need a team to represent the BLArmy, Blake's official street team, at KISS 95.7 Summer Kick-Off. Info here on the show here: http://www.kiss957.com/pages/images/skc08_page.jpg

If you're still wondering if this BLArmy thing is legit, here's what Blake had to say when somebody asked him in his myspace comments: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/jenlar/forums/ItsLegit.jpg

Are you guys going to be allowed to take pictures and videos at the Canal Room? I hope so!!!!

I think the BLArmy is doing a great job at promoting Blake. I think Ken Barnes from Idol Chatter is back from vacation. Hopefully we'll have some album sales numbers today. We must be close to the 300,000 mark.

I was wonder about his CD sales....I just wish his songs would get some radio playing...its killing me...if only, then his sales would take off

I think it was BUlly who was discussing that new artists are only releasing a song as opposed to a CD...makes sense, since most people like 1 or 2 songs on a CD . Case in point, Jordin has sold more of her single Tatoo vs the CD and maybe artists have a hard times putting together enough songs to fill a record...well, anyway just a thought

Thanks, EotW! We are trying really hard with this, and Big D and Blake have been wonderful to work with. I feel almost completely helpless since he hasn't come anywhere near my area since AI two-er, so I'm helping by proxy, I guess. Reposting the myspace bulletins, posting updates at my favorite websites, and making graphics is about all I can do at the moment.

I am sure that there will be plenty of pictures from the show. As for video, our team will be following the rules of the venue. Hopefully it'll be OK and they'll bring back some great footage.

I'm all antsy about sales, too. I hope that we get to hear some numbers soon!

Hey guys, if you want you can check out my latest Blake video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCm57Yhbjs0

Just a little tribute to Blake, I just figured with all the negative stuff going on with the Archuleta fans, it wouldn't hurt to show that not everyone is like them, (especially not all archuleta fans) *cough* me *cough* lol

Hey All--
I was at the Summerjams thing to Vote, and I saw they took it down. However, tix are for sale now, and if you click the artist you like/love/are fangirls of you can see Blake's YouTube from Kimmel!
I was a little surprised they'd use the Kimmel BA, but it was a cool rendition. :-)

Jenlar, I hear you on that. I am in a bit of denial that there are going to be all these yummy concert events going on ELSEWHERE. When the pics and YouTubes roll in, it's going to be hog-heaven...but yeah. *sigh* I do hope every one of you lucky enough to go enjoy him firsthand.

Uh-oh, we're down to 700 sales. We cant expect the man to move units unless he's on the radio. We need to SAVE BLAKE right now. Idolbored and us here need to organize something tremendous, like a huge blake street event. Thats the ONLY way, we need to get thousands of copies of this album out to people by the end of june. Here are the cold hard facts. The music is INCREDIBLE, but the promotion SUCKS. Lets do this ourselves. Enough of this nonsense about archuleta fans hating blake. Who cares? Our focus should be Blake Colin Lewis and no one else. Sometimes i feel like my mics not working around here. Can The Blarmy get in touch with blakes manager and see about blarmy sponsored concerts for ADD money? That would be tremendous and instant. If he's not allowed to do that then he should ditch his label and go indie, that way he can have us as his main management. Because apparentley me (and us), a 16 year old idiot, cares a lot more about blake then that crappy label. If not lets get this ADD train out of the station quickly (in one week.) Im getting really mad that blake's music is so awesome and likeable but people are not hearing it because he's not on the radio. If we had a blarmy concert then tons of fans can show up and pay just 20 bucks to see blake rock out. All that money can go towards buying AUDIO DAY DREAM. We need to get these Cd's off the shelves and into americans cd players. Im a 9/11 truther, i know how to bring about change, and take things to the streets to spread the word. We can get blake anywhere he wants to go. This guy had SOO many fans last summer. He had Arenas full of fans roaring for him all around the country! A LOT of those people still dont even know ADD is out. I talked to someone on youtube yesterday and they said that they loved blake on idol, but never heard of ADD! (they loved HMW wen they heard it btw.) Doing little things here and there cannot and will not bring about the amount of change we need to get blake's music out there. We need a major revolution now or you may just see this great talent dwindle away. What do you guys think of my ideas?

ANOTHER thing we can do that would be more convienent (and this is brilliant), is have a Blake Lewis MONEYBOMB. All profits going to Idolbored. We can get all this money that we need Without the trouble of booking an event and selling tickets. We could advertise the moneybomb all over youtube and let other fan sites know about it. Blake can put and ad for it on his MS. We can easily make 100,000 dollars for ADD if we have a moneybomb. The bottom line is, something has to be done quickly to keep this record afloat. Who likes the money bomb idea?

bshorty4l... The best way for us to get Blake's music heard is to work with his management instead of against them. He's undoubtedly in a contract that only has a few specific reasons for breaking it.

The ultimate goal of the BLArmy is for Blake's music to be heard *and* purchased, not just one or the other. Your enthusiasm is incredible and contagious, tho... and a valuable asset to the team!

Jenlar, I think you misunderstood what I said. The money bomb idea isn't just to get thousands of copies of the CD and have them sit there... It's to get all those copies off ADD the Blarmy can take this to the streets and give them out on a massive scale. We need to get add out to Thousands of people, and this is the only way to do it. Not the ADD train, its too slow. A money bomb could save his career.

I can't speak for everyone, but I've put all the cash into this that I can. It's now up to word of mouth and other marketing ideas that don't require any more of my money. I'm still requesting and have sent my CD's on the train already.

No idea what a moneybomb is, but I do like your conviction and enthusiasm. :-) Don't despair however, bshorty4L-- Blake's career will be here for a long time to come. He has every intention of making music his life's goal, and has his finger in many pots.

Where the rub is, is that it may not be the exact career some of the execs had in mind for him as a star ala Daughtry. As a lesser-luminary, he will however continue to shine, and give off a beautiful glow. He may have to play smaller venues, and work to keep his corner alive, but so many people like him and want to work with him-- wouldn;t surprise me if HE became the next "feat LupeFiasco" to have on a track.

I am somewhat comforted to see Natasha Bedingfield still playing these smaller venues and Summerjams in "group concerts", because I perceive her as doing pretty well popularity-wise. Seems an awful lot of these lesser luminary types need to stick together, and seek exposure in a group setting. There is a market for that, and in that market, continued viability. Ferras is someone they are known to be high on at a "push" level, but he's still in a group concert setting. So are a BUNCH of other names I could name, like Jordin Sparks, if you want to point a finger, and she has sold a good deal.

He can still become a big star. GUARENTEED he would be all over radio now if he hadn't passed on that timbaland beat. That was the dumbest decision of his life. I dont care if he didn't like it, he knows who timbaland is and how huge he is. Retarded move on his part. Blake's BIG chance to make it big is to release KMN Ft. Lupe. Either that or his fans rally together and push ADD to relevence.

So Blake's CD sales have reached 298,000. I was just thinking that it won't be too long before he reaches 300,000 (a couple of weeks). Should we try and do something fun in celebration? Should we try and have some kind of virtual Team Plaid partay???? Any ideas??????

Dont settle for less, Blake can be huge.

I think he already is huge. People know who he is, and they flocked to the concert last year in droves, to see him perform Live. Now the hurdle is, a fanbase not based on the fickle whim of television. Even Daughtry and Carrie Underwood needed time to build that.

I am not the person to ask about popularity issues, as I generally don't concern myself with what is. However, I do believe in his appeal, which I feel is vast and endearing-- and that crosses happily all sorts of types and boundarylines. :-)

I think it's that determination not to be pigeonholed which actually hurt him as to marketing and promo. Labeling and expectation are an odd thing, but all too needed when it comes to music. I think what has come out of this post-album phase is the reputation for being independant, eclectic, electronic-based, and a bit of a bad boy no matter how genuine his smile is. What do you do with something like that, except enjoy him, and if you're another artist, try to put the talent to work for you? I think that's where he will dabble, and feat, and even help produce sound for other people...so yeah, he will be out there. I have faith in him, even if he does defy pigeonholing.

How Many Words just debut in this week's Billboard Hot Club Play chart at #48.

It seems Blake is getting back to his alternative/electronic/club roots, judging by his forthcoming projects with BT, KJ and Darude. He always said he went on Idol to make top 10, do the tour and boost his profile so he can spring out of Seattle. He managed to do better on AI than expected and he used the opportunity to make his "Michael Jackson Bad" album. I think while Blake has his pop side, at heart, he's an alternative musician. If he didn't want to work with Timbaland because he didn't like Timbaland's sound, then good for him for having the integrity to say "no". I'm sure compromises were made in making ADD, but by and large it seems to be a project made with integrity and it's reflected in the overall quality of the album. Given Blake's tastes and influences (he lists a song by Edit as his most played song on his ipod) he's not a mainstream pop/adult contemporary artists like the most successful AI alumni. It's best to accept him for what he is and what he's trying to do which is to carve out his own place in the music industry which will allow him to earn a nice living without having to fall back on survival jobs. There are enough musicians out there who are able to live comfortably well, make music and do shows with integrity and all without having to ascend to the top of the charts. I think Bully's message above is excellent and well stated.

There are enough musicians out there who are able to live comfortably well, make music and do shows with integrity and all without having to ascend to the top of the charts. I think Bully’s message above is excellent and well stated.

nice input from Bully and Charles C....

the only complaint I really have from Blakes' AI show, is that his management team did NOT promote his CD correctly nor $$ wise for radio play.. I don't care if he is Pop or an alternative musician. ALl I know he that he can make music and that speak volumes...Many artist have to have music written for them. That's why he will have longetivity in the music industry

BUT I would so love to hear his songs on the radio

So I was watching QVC this morning. A ring came on that I really liked, so I got on the phone to do automated ordering. At the end, there was some kind of problem with the computers, so it said I had to wait for a representative. While I was waiting for her to come on the phone, they put me on hold, and music started playing. On come the words: "Now that it's over....now that you're not here....." I was like what? That sounds familiar! It was 1000 miles!!!! Just wanted to share.

Thanks CharlesC.-- You said it well yourself, too. :-) I was talking about this very thing with someone just last week.

He managed to do better on AI than expected and he used the opportunity to make his “Michael Jackson Bad” album. I think while Blake has his pop side, at heart, he’s an alternative musician. If he didn’t want to work with Timbaland because he didn’t like Timbaland’s sound, then good for him for having the integrity to say “no”. I’m sure compromises were made in making ADD, but by and large it seems to be a project made with integrity and it’s reflected in the overall quality of the album.

Given Blake’s tastes and influences (he lists a song by Edit as his most played song on his ipod) he’s not a mainstream pop/adult contemporary artists like the most successful AI alumni. It’s best to accept him for what he is and what he’s trying to do which is to carve out his own place in the music industry which will allow him to earn a nice living without having to fall back on survival jobs. LOVE the talk about integrity, seriously.(and ITA)

Like Joyce, I can't deny that I wish people would have sent the album to the top of the charts...I do wish he had had that kind of success. However, I think the universe may have something else in mind for him. He's friends with an awful lot of people who have made it, so who really knows WHAT could happen, you know? He's not even scraped the surface of what he is capable of.

1) Well-thought posts from Bully and Charles C.
2) Joyce stating the truth about Blake's immense talent
3) EotW with good news, and ready to party.

Is there nothing not to love about Team Plaid?

Sales from two weeks ago were at 2000, which was up from where we were before that. I just hope that he stays above 1000 for a while longer.

Bully and Charles C,
ITA. This is what I think some fans were struggling with posidol experience. I personally think that Blake was pretty clear from the beginning, and I did not follow his interviews in the past religiously, about what type of music he liked and would like to make. It is just my feeling that some fans who moved on, might have had difficulty letting go of the image of Blake from AI and to embrace the music that really represents him as a musician. They might simply do not have a liking for electronicly influenced music; and it is ok, not evereyone has to like it.

The video that EOTW (thanks for that) posted is very interesting, given the topics that were raised. I really liked some questions later in the interview. Blake was very clear when he addressed beatboxing criticism, that it is part of his music, he loves it, and it is not a gimmick to him. The second critism of his music is also well addressed. If people attended his preidol shows they would know what music he is influenced by and what is important for him.

I also find his "refusal" to use music or bars of someone who really does not appeal to his musical sensibilites as a sign of his musical integrity. He might have lost some fans and maybe opportunities as a result of it, but I think in the long term it should help him in the music industry. I think it might help him creating the music that he loves, finding people who will support his projects because they will value his input as opposed to trying to fit him in what gives maximal profits without considering his artistry, and gaining fans who will accept the music just the way it is.

After listening to that interview, I would so love for him to get a chance to do a character voice in like a Pixar movie. He would be so great at it.

Also, at the end of the interview, Blake mentioned that he wanted his next album to be like a jazz, Medeski Martin and Wood meets Acid Rock kind of album. OK, I don't even remotely know what that is, so I looked up Medeski Martin and Wood. Here are two of their videos on YouTube. What this would sound like mixed with Acid Rock, I have no idea!!!! :laugh_tb:

Medeski Martin and Wood Uninvisible

MM and W Big Time

Love all the comments from everyone today about Blake being true to himself and maintaining his musical integrity.

Great, insightful comments today about Blake's career, music, and integrity. Yes, shooting to the top of the charts would have been nice (and would have deflected a lot of the bashing) but it isn't all about being "huge" and sounding like you're doing what everybody else is doing. Blake meets Medeski Martin and Wood meets Acid (breakbeat?) sounds incredibly interesting. I'm looking forward to whatever music comes next. And it will come.

EOTW-- As always girl, you are all over the latest news for us! Wow! I don't even know what to say, with the new fact there actually is something called "acid jazz". (I suppose it comes under the header of ambient music, but I will have to listen in to those clips more, when the internets are more cooperative.)

So neat that you got to hear 1,000Miles on the QVC line! :-) Maybe all our ADD prompting made them check it out for themselves!

And yes M4M, I'm with you on the sentiment above. That he is exploring with us, these interesting thoughts and musics is rather amazing, you know? He is on the journey, and he's taking us along too.

In random news, which has me a little stunned, I just heard D Cook's TOML on my Top40 radio station here. The one that refused to even play Blake one time?? Yeah, that one. Maybe Cook will be getting the push he needs to really make it.

Of course will get the push he needed ladies. He is the winner. Unlike Blake, Archie got his record deal announced the next week or two and is showing huge fan support on the webs. We know Blake has huge fan support at the AI Tour. The record company should have capitalized on that and put him on a tour immediately when the record came out. There mistake. I may happen sometime this year, but won't have the impact it would have say in Feb. or March.
Have a great weekend everyone.

. I think while Blake has his pop side, at heart, he’s an alternative musician.

I agree with you on this Charles. Blake has stayed pretty true to his roots. We all agree the album is great but alot of the mainstream powers don't know what to do with it. They haven't recognized the talent they have and have no idea how to promote him. Maybe thats where we went wrong in trying to help him along, we were thinking like mainstream radio, maybe we need to regroup and think outside of the box so to speak. There is plenty of room in the music world for Blake we just have to find it and capitalize on that and then maybe mainstream music will see what they have been missing. We need to keep his music out there even if it includes his older stuff. We need people to know Blake and appreciate him for the multitalented musician he is.
