I hope everyone is having a good memorial Day weekend! I was just looking around again since things have been kind of slow and I got a message about a new campaign we could all do. Its about getting ADD into rotation abd basically showing a show of force to the radio stations Blake is going to be at but starting before he even gets there and keeping the pressure on even after he leaves. It is a step in the right direction...for me I like to break the rules sometime and this I guess will be one of those times..y'all should check it out, Blake and the boys can use all of our help..its over at www.kjsdrumline.com under campaigns or sawka talk. I'm beginning to check this site out alot because it seems they are always trying to do something..and I'm up for positive reinforcements anytime!! Thought you all might want to do it too!

Sorry but the rebellion idea is the worst thing possible and will only serve to piss off stations. A mass mailed letter and phone calls from out of state, even those willing to listen online, will not help. It will make things worse. That whole campaign is Claymate in nature and we all know how radio stations feel about Clay.

Sometimes there is nothing to be done except to "do no damage." The kjsdrumline campaign will cause damage if it catches on. you cannot force stations to play Blake by browbeating them with form letters.

I don't see the difference really though. We have all requested Blake's music, and played by "their rules", and they still didn't play it. So if we don't do something soon, A.D.D. is just gonna fade away. And we don't want that ! So, i like the idea ! What do we have to lose ? They didn't play it before, and we were nice, so what are we really gonna lose ? So i'm going to participate in that campaign.

Sadly, as we know, fans have very little input in what songs get played on the radio. If stations have already decided they aren't going to play it, no amount of mass-mailings are going to change their minds. So, it won't help. Will it hurt? Maybe. I'd hate such an effort to cause the DJs/interns more work when they aren't allowed to play Blake, thereby making them less open to his next single or future projects. Obviously, peeps are free to do what they want to do, but I think sometimes it's better to look at the big picture.

Fans can certainly use grass roots efforts to help promote his album in other ways. Check out the BLArmy thread over at IdolBored.

IdolBored has tried requesting targeted stations and it really didn't help. I think the way to get radio attention is for there to be an increase in sales. They seem to pay attention to dollar signs. I don't mean a sudden increase in sales and then a big dip; I mean a steady flow of sales. And so far the only method I see that could work is the BLArmy Train where you buy a CD, pass it on and request that person that if they like it, they buy their own copy and pass the original on to someone else with the same request.
Also anyone going to concerts or clubs coul either pass out flyers or bring a copy of ADD and ask the DJ to play it. Word of mouth will go a lot farther than requesting at stations that have no intention of playing the song.

Yes, the Blarmy train does work. I alone have had at least 6 other people purchase this album and seven of my friends have passed this disc on to other people. Who knows where those 7 will go. I honestly think this is a good thing and worth supporting Blakers

I was just reading this article about david cook and david archuleta discussing who may be more successful. The article said something like "Blake Lewis and Justin Guarini weren't able to find success in the music industry because all they had was sex appeal." To hear blake in the same sentence as justin guarini makes me sick to my stomach. It gets me pissed that some are already regarding Blake as a flop, when his career is just beginning. We really need to organize a big event to get ADD back on the charts. Lets face it, thats the only way ADD is gonna get any recognition. We should coordinate an event with Idolbored, the blaker girls, and street team in order to launch ADD into the top 200 again. The ADD train is great, but we need to do something were it will have an impact on a certain week rather then scattered sales here and there. If we can get 1000 people involved, we can make a big difference.

I think that what the biggest benefit the BLArmy is doing, besides promoting a positive ripple outward, getting people to listen that maybe wouldn't otherwise, is SALES. By keeping the sales margin above 1,000 every week, we ensure his safety zone.(under 1,000 is a dead album) The numbers have been at 1,600 and that is good. If we can keep it up, keep the Train moving forward, hopefully the numbers will continue as well.

I am always curious about the numbers, and wonder sometimes what the enrollment numbers look like at IB and other places. Those are die-hard fans, like us, and ones motivated to keep trying with the Train idea. When Zammie goes out, and contacts 3 very good customers, will the enthusiasm of these people work too, to their friends and family? I have to believe it will.

Airplay is almost out of the question now, with XM still being the only outlet responsive to fan request. Without airplay, what we are doing really is keeping Blake out there, and giving him a chance to be heard. What helps too, is the people saying they heard his music on commercials and film clips and Indy race car preview stuff! Getting commercial buy-in might make a real toe-hold.:-)

Good Morning everyone*waves at Bully*

“Blake Lewis and Justin Guarini weren’t able to find success in the music industry because all they had was sex appeal.” To hear blake in the same sentence as justin guarini makes me sick to my stomach

bshorty I so agree with you here. Blake has so much musical talent it isn't even funny...there is just no comparison to Guarini.

And I pretty much agree with what Bully stated above. I do think airplay is pretty much out of the question as of now...

I’d hate such an effort to cause the DJs/interns more work when they aren’t allowed to play Blake, thereby making them less open to his next single or future projects. Obviously, peeps are free to do what they want to do, but I think sometimes it’s better to look at the big picture.

And I think PJ is spot on here.

The bottom line is, it is very difficult to grasp...for me anyway, that ADD didn't do better than it did. It had more than enough great songs on it; I just think they lead with the wrong single. Too hard of climb for ADD after that. But as I stated above Blake is very gifted musically, and I have to believe that he has gotten his foot in the door and hopefully impressed the right folks. Blake is doing so much more now than he was a couple of years ago. So all I can do now is keep recommending ADD and doing the ADD shuffle at WalMart and Target:)

*waves at Anne* :-)

So all I can do now is keep recommending ADD and doing the ADD shuffle at WalMart and Target:)

Heh! Nice way to put it! LOL. (The family just rolls their eyes when I head towards the record section now) I was a little impressed to see in the new BLArmy video the oh-so-nice displays at some of the stores, with his name on it and everything. Wish we had that.

It does amaze and sadden me, how Blake has lost fans from last year. Seems to be a personal thing, the ones that shied away. I have trouble accounting for just what has made his appeal wane. No matter what he does, some people always seem to find fault with him. (even the sexy kissing vid, from MadTv and top12.)

It does amaze and sadden me, how Blake has lost fans from last year.

You know it is funny...I have never followed an idol before let along the show, but just watching this year and how fans have acted and what they have said about the idols of season 7, seems to shed some light on the AI fans. For example, how people seem to be turned off by Michael Johns because of saying he was shocked he was eliminated. Or the reaction that Cook is getting because he went on a date with KCaldwell. Or that he talked too much during the LK interview. I mean these guys or just picked apart.

I know Blake did and said things that people didn't agree with, but good night if you were to hold other artists to that same standard I'm not really sure how many of them would be left to even respect, IMHO. So I agree with Bully...it does sadden me that he has lost fans from last year:(

Bully, as of today there are 322 registered members at IB, but the list is growing everyday.I is for over 18 fans and thus has a smaller membership than other fansites. There is also a MS that regularly posts bulletins, comments, etc that promote Blake and ADD. If we could just get all of the fan sites to actively participate, we could have tremendous success. The ADD Train is working and new fans are being introduced to Blake's music everyday.

It does amaze and sadden me, how Blake has lost fans from last year. Seems to be a personal thing, the ones that shied away.
Blake shot himself in the foot repeatedly and, unfortunately for him, a lot of it ended up on TMZ. The Blake after Idol bore little resemblance to the Blake on Idol and people felt betrayed or just plain turned off by his bathroom video and his Sanjaya bashing, right up to the most recent video making the rounds of Blake and David Hernandez rubbing themselves all over a female at a party. He drove people away and the "real Blake" didn't catch on with a new audience to replace the ones he lost. Were people being too sensitive and putting him on a pedestal? Perhaps but Blake bears some big time responsibility for his fan problems too and I'm not going to excuse it just because I like his music. Honestly, I'm not a fan of him as a person AT ALL. However I do like his music enough to hang in there to see if he grows up a bit for the next go 'round.

As far as Justin Guarini, I don't think it's fair to plug our noses and complain about the comparisons. NEITHER guy deserves to be slammed. Justin came off AI every bit as cool as Blake and he's very talented. Reacting to Justin as if Blake shouldn't be in the same room with him or mentioned in the same sentence is the same stuff they do to Blake. Justin is very talented and the victim of probably more record label shenanagins than Blake. They'd probably have a lot to talk about. Everything the Blake fanbase is experiencing is what Justin's fanbase went through 5 years ago.

Ok, just youtubed Justin and yeah he's talented, got a very good voice...but ummm sex appeal??? Doesn't do it for me.

And how dare I fall for B...he's only got sex appeal..how did I get drawn into this. Heck, I'm old enough to know better. How stupid can I be?! I actually thought the boy had talent. I guess smooth velvety voice, playing all those insturments, his mega producing talents, looping skills to rival ANYONE, beatboxing the butt off people, and oh yeah the whole stage presence thing tricked me. Dang, I'm dumb. How could I have been so blinded by the sexy ass and piercing eyes?

I never watched the show before and I was as much surprised as you are to see how the interest shifts or wanes. I am not sure, however, if Blake lost the AI merely because of the things that he said or did; it might have been partly also a natural phenomenon of a reality show such as AI. People would be moving to support new contestants in new seasons.

Blake might have lost some audience from AI but he sure has a chance of gaining new fans, if they have an opportunity to hear his music or see him live. The advantage might be that the new listeners will form an opinion about Blake by themselves rather than go by a slant coming from a TV show. JMO.

Am I the only one that thinks fans who don't buy his CD because of him being honest and open, yes, about things he shouldn't be so open about, are a little off their rocker? Listen, I love Sting's music and buy all of it, but can't stand the man's politics or personal decisions sometimes. I can't stand some of the things that come out of Adam Levine's mouth, but I have all of the M5 CDs. It's about the music, not what the person thinks about the presidential election or the price of beans or the person that none of us know personally that sat next to him on some TV show.

On the other hand, I think Bob Geldof has done amazing work to help the less fortunate. Do I have any of his music? Nope. Did I give money to Band-Aid? Yep. That ain't about the music people.

I'm into MUSIC...CD buying is all about the music and only the music. I don't expect my entertainers to believe exactly what I believe or have all the same views about honest vs. ignorant. And yes, I think he stepped over the line plenty of times, but that's based on my principles not his. I don't throw my guidelines on others.

Also, entertainers/celebrities should not be expected to be perfect and unfortunately they are ATM. We tear apart their mistakes and tear them down as quickly as we can to prove that their shit does stink. Well, I'm pretty sure B knows his shit stinks, just like everyone elses. He needs fans that see past those mistakes or inconsistancies in his peronality or public persona. Those are the fans that B needs, the ones that put the emphasis on the music, not the words said to so and so DJ in sometown, USA. Those fans are the most passionate and will understand the complexity of what he does best, which is pretty darn complex. They will just want the music. And that he can deliver perfectly on CD...anytime he wants. Live music ain't perfect...and would we want it to be?

BTW...No, I don't think buying his music supports his views. Just because a person makes a billion dollars, doesn't make his view more believed or his/her imperfections more loved....can we say Kanye or Mariah or Lilo. Don't we still see train wrecks despite the millions they have.

Now, if he were using his money to fund a terrorist group in South Asia, then I wouldn't want to buy anything he put out and would probably protest places selling his stuff. But, I'm pretty sure he isn't doing that and I'm pretty sure my money will go to building his music career, fillin his music studio with equipment, and fixing up the diamond in a rough he bought this past winter. Those things I happily fund.

Ok...now how do I get down from this soap box???

Honestly, I’m not a fan of him as a person AT ALL.

As far as being a fan of the person or not, to be honest I really do not know Blake as a person. To judge him as a person because of somethings TMZ has caught, and whatever...well, that just doessn't seem right. I would hate for someone to judge me just by what I post here on this blog.

Newduck thanks for hopping up on that soapbox:)

Kasia and Anne--I SO agree. It's wierd, how a guy can do one thing, and have it taken "wrong", or out of context. How it affects his fanbase, and then record sales is a domino effect, yeah. We fans are supposed to be the Beginning of his celebrity for others to find, not the sum total.
These Idols, they are musicians trying to make it, just people like us. How great could I be taken on a daily basis? Couldn't I offend someone without even meaning to, simply by living? yup. This is where it's getting interesting for me, watching the progress of D Cook as the year unwinds. Will they still love him in a year, or will he be a "douchebag" too? Already, people fault-finding him hmm??

I had to laugh at what you said newduck! How dare we be attracted to the "sexy"! LOL. Well yeah, the voice is amazing to me, but it's person present in his eyeballs when he speaks that makes it fascinating. He might personally be a guy that I would shake my finger at as a naughty-naughty, but he can SELL me just about anything!:-)

Several of us in the same boat, of not being yearly "Idol" fans, Blake being our first. I can only blame the charisma.

Adam Levine was a SWEETHEART on that Crossroads on CMT with Sara Evans. Honestly, just so nice. I think he's missing real love from his life. You could almost see him weighing and measuring that watching Sara and her kids, and what it would be like. It's a Goodness-level, a level of Expectation to hit, see? JMO.

Those sources of information would be the last I would rely on getting accurate and reliable information as well. How many times the stories that they brought up through media turned out to be false or inaccurate? Why won't they focus on and report good things that Blake did such as visits to the hospital to support cancer research or his efforts to encourage young people to vote during elections to make a real difference. Those type appearances are reflections of Blake's life values. Yes, I know. It is not as exciting or controversial as video of Blake rubbing against somone at the party or Blake saying that David A chose boring songs.

newduck,

I’m into MUSIC…CD buying is all about the music and only the music. I don’t expect my entertainers to believe exactly what I believe or have all the same views about honest vs. ignorant. And yes, I think he stepped over the line plenty of times, but that’s based on my principles not his. I don’t throw my guidelines on others.

I tend to share a similar view. To me, if an artist in addition to creativity, vocals that are appealing to my ears and senses, and their musical style, shares similar values, this is just a bonus.

How great could I be taken on a daily basis? Couldn’t I offend someone without even meaning to, simply by living? yup.

My point exactly Bully. To judge someone as a person based on a few acts, like some of what Kasia named above. Well...I just can not wrap my brain around that. Now you don't care for the music or his style...got it, no problem.

Okay, that is it for me...I'll let it go.

Still enjoying his music and wishing Blake well in the future.

Oh, and thank you for posting the video's up top...much enjoyed:D

After having limited internet access and spare time for almost two weeks, I am very happy to be see there are new interviews and the Green Apple Festival videos. Every time I think there's nothing new to be heard and I settle in for a dry spell, something new does come along.

I disagree with the line of thought that people won't buy Blake's CD because of what he said on radio interviews, or because he has facial hair, or because the album cover has too many colors, or he wore green on a Tuesday 6 months ago, etc. etc. And TMZ? Please.

People move on and interests change. A year is a long time in the collective conscious of popular culture. Yup, me too, I should have known better than to notice a voice, a sound, a spirit and stay interested for so long. Charisma indeed.

Thanks for linking those Green Apple vids. Boy, the audience was a dud, but weirdly, the outdoor audiences seem to be in general (esp I guess if it's pouring). Blake gives 200% every time he performs. America the Beautiful was gorgeous, and I liked seeing the reaction of the guys behind him on stage - I think they were impressed, unless I'm projecting. It showed how musical Blake is, all around. I like his keyboard contraption where he can be a musical octupus.

Kilroy-- I agree. When I was watching the vid, I couldn;t help but notice we went to utter quiet while he performed. Like, pin-drop quiet. :-) I prefer to look at it as perhaps stunned surprise! heh. Like you said about the guys behind him onstage--maybe everyone was Wow'd too! He is so musical, so talented, could they help but be?

Just like on IdolExtra-- JD seemed stunned after Blake performed his one man band thing on HMW. I like that, that he still can surprise us, and make me love something totally different.

About the comment I made, and how fans have "moved on"-- sure, some do just move on to the next taste sensation. Some people just want to be in love. I wasn't planning on the love finding me like it did S6, but it didn't depart either just as abruptly. Some left him after a singular comment, or the release of the toliet vid, and it just suggests that there's no room for human silliness or error in a candid moment. If that is so, then it really IS all about the packaging and "Image", as Idol has suggested. HmmmmMMmm!;-)

I think the big push for anyone is the radio play. I'm very sad that Blake isn't getting it. He so deserves it. I have been watching Idol for about 5 years now and even though I usually have a favorite, Blake's is the only cd I've bought. I did buy Kelly's Breakaway and Daughtry both for my daughter at her request. She obviously heard the songs on the radio and liked them.

Anyway, I'll keep loving Blake's music and trying to spread the joy to others. I just got my AI 6 Final 2 dvd last night and I really enjoyed seeing all the Blake clips. Personally I thought there should have been more of him and less of some of the other contestants.

What cha Got 2 Lose was used in the background music for the Indy 500...doesn't BLake and CHris R get royalties???

Memorial Day weekend was fabulous..perfect weather here..

but in discussing Blake..he never got off the launching pad because the radio play was very small indeed..as we now see, there was no backing...how do we keep him from from into obscurity? don't know..but again, XM29 UPOP play BA again today...so keep requesting..remember there is a saying 'out of sight, out of mind".. although minimal, its still playing..SO KEEP REQUESTING

as far as not picking up fans because of his "boyish" antics..I believe that just an excuse for the so called fans...my goodness...take a look at hollywood..its like a free for all of who's switching mates..in particular MADONNA,. to me one of biggest PI.....before she married now she is a virgin...she still has many fans those who are bashing for the Sanyaja (?) was so immaturish...I have brothers..and they have done the same..I wish someone has picked up for Blake and told his side..I'm sure the kid was annoying as we all can be at one time or another..as far as his potty mought..I saw that on the college campus and I attended a catholic univ....nothing new..in fact his language was clean compared to others...so whatever excuse someone wants to use, so be it...either you like his music or you don't

I saw the green apple vid's...his rendition of America was unbelievable.. where does he get these recreations?

his new mgr needs to channel him in the right direction and that being "TOURING" where people can hear his remakes...thats what make a truly creative music genius..its not just the voice but the making of music

if he can tour, music lovers will tune in and he will build a true fan base and not the "flash in the pan" AI crowd...

BUT until then, somehow fans here and the other sites must keep his name out there...

BUT until then, somehow fans here and the other sites must keep his name out there…

Interesting reading for the last couple of days. I've been busy at work and with getting info for Idolbored for the new BLarmy Website. It really has made a push and I think, as mentioned above that it is the reason he's over 1000 sales lately.

What can I tell you. Blake is home working on music and has been working on a song with BT and some others. The label has not done a tour, and I agree with you all that they are missing the boat because his fan base will grow when he gets on tour with the band. He explodes on stage, no matter the size.

As far as fans disappearing, you have to remember that the Idol is a tv show and there are millions of people that live in front of the tv, never, or hardly ever, listen to the radio, or music. The other thing is that alot of Blakes fans are more technically inclined, which equates to taking free music from the internet and other sources and thus don't buy the CD. Country folk watch more tv, do less down loading and more cd purchasing, thus the big sales for country singer. How many truck drivers do you think download music? Not many. I'm not trying to generalize, but I think its true. Thus, overall, alot of fans just slip into the next season. If they are watching idol, they are watching so you think you can dance?

Personally, I'm hoping if the label doesn't get him on tour, he can do it himself. I don't know the restrictions of 19, or the label contract.

So, lets just keep cheering him on and see what happens.

Hugs to you all. d

I disagree with the line of thought that people won’t buy Blake’s CD because of what he said on radio interviews, or because he has facial hair, or because the album cover has too many colors, or he wore green on a Tuesday 6 months ago, etc. etc. And TMZ? Please.

I so agree with this. I have been reading all the posts that you all have posted, and have been reading a lot of other AI forums over the last year (probably should not have....but that's another story!). I have come to the conclusion that AI fans and forums for the most part really suck! Sorry to generalize, but they do. Most of them get so hyped up about someone, and then in a few months, just TEAR the people down. I have never quite understood that thinking. A lot of forum posters go out of their way to constantly go on other sites and just continue to put contestants down. It's like that's all they do. They show such hatred and are truly crazy people. And it is not just Blake related, they do it for most of the AI contestants. Past AI contestants are forever under a microscope and all their actions are constantly scrutinized. It is unreal! I think making AI fans happy is a lost cause. Blake needs to just move on, tour, and do what makes him happy. He needs to establish himself out there as a musician with the non-AI audience.

Is it bad of me to almost wish that he had never gone on AI?

dani,

That is so true. It would be an interesting statistic to really know the overall amount of people that have the CD. It would probably boggle our minds. I am surprised that illegal downloading has gone on for as long as it has. That is why I hate the CONSTANT comparisons of past AI finalists with CD sales. It is such an unfair comparison. Illegal downloads did not exist 5 years ago. People actually bought CDs.

As far as fans disappearing, you have to remember that the Idol is a tv show and there are millions of people that live in front of the tv, never, or hardly ever, listen to the radio, or music. *hugs back* BigD--
I can speak a little for truckdriver populace, because I used to work with them. They have a hard time getting to the store, where you can buy different things--Walmart and superstores are about the only option. They buy movies on a whim from the truckstops, but rarely music. If they buy music, it must be in Walmart or downloading it--because all drivers are plugged-in now and pretty pc savvy. (They ALL listen to satellite radio tho, btw.)

I fit the Country/country living demographic you stated, where we tend to buy on a whim, or when a fav artist comes out with something. I had to LEARN to download, among 30billion other things when I joined Blaker fandom. I was a complete newbie, no clue. I wanted the music from Idol really badly tho, so I sucked it up, and learned. It was a big step, for a person NOT pc literate! There are tons more like I was out there, to whom the internet world is this vast uncertain place.

I had a 20something friend who told me they learn to do stuff like share online when they're in college, because nobody can afford extras like music cds. I think the failure rate of selling Cds does come from that demographic, who are far more likely to share, than Buy.

TV watchers as a whole do tend to be more passive when it comes to Buying, but when I say Fans, I really mean those like us who frequent boards and forums, and claim to love somebody so-much. My life would have been simpler had I not caught a love dart from Blake, but then, look at all this middle aged gal would have missed out on! :-D

The best way to keep blake from obscurity right now is to keep ADD afloat. If this album was selling well, you know he'd be on the radio.

I don't think that's true. If anything, 5 years ago, pre-iTunes, illegal downloading was worse. Napster was huge before it got shut down.

Millions of people use iTunes. I mean, Jordin has two digital platinum singles. David Cook sold like 900K downloads during the sales period since his win last week. I don't think it can really be said that Blake's low sales are a result of the majority of his fans d/l'ing illegally. For whatever reason, his music just hasn't gotten the exposure it needed to catch on.

but in discussing Blake..he never got off the launching pad because the radio play was very small indeed..as we now see, there was no backing…how do we keep him from from into obscurity? don’t know..but again, XM29 UPOP play BA again today…so keep requesting..remember there is a saying ‘out of sight, out of mind”.. although minimal, its still playing..SO KEEP REQUESTING

XM29 isn't the only one playing Blake right now. K104 has played him 17 times this week; atleast twice a day, but on some days more. He's not getting spins like Leona Lewis; but its a start. Also, i saw a bulletin today; from sawka delight; where you could vote for blake as your favorite artist appearing at summer jam. He was way behind; in third place, barely hanging in there. We need to change that. Here's the link:

I've been thinking about the tour with BT. Would that be just B or with ADD band? I'm guessing that would be just him and less album-oriented. I'm not sure that's what is needed. I think he needs to be out there with ADD doing the songs from the album and plugging the album. He didn't mention it during the show I went to and I think that was a huge mistake. He has said many times that the difference between pre-Idol and after Idol is that he doesn't need to promote himself as much....That is totally not true and I think we see that now. The artists still need to plug their album everywhere they go, especially at a live show. He should have had a table with CD's available for purchase even. Kate Voegele had one and she also plugged the album at least twice during her set.

Regarding Artists after Idol...

The 50-city all-summer tour itself may be a detriment to their lasting success. Yeah, Blake was able to work on his on 'the bus'. But really, I think a shorter, well-paced tour with studio time available - perhaps a chance to get an album out sooner - would be better for the Artists.

I don’t think that’s true. If anything, 5 years ago, pre-iTunes, illegal downloading was worse. Napster was huge before it got shut down.

I agree that Napster was huge, but it was a file sharing service. You downloaded individual songs and depending on the type of internet connection you had, which years ago it pretty much sucked, it could be exrutiating (timewise). Now, with the introduction of Broadband internet, you can download an entire album in a few minutes. There are gobs of sites that have the entire album of songs already bundled for you and all you have to do is click a button and walk away, then come back in a few minutes and there it is.

I'm not in any way trying to justify Blake's low album sales, I am just trying to say I don't think it is fair to compare overall CD sales/numbers (of total albums) from idols 5 or 6 years ago to those today. CD sales over the years have drastically been going down. That was my only point. :)

For whatever reason, his music just hasn’t gotten the exposure it needed to catch on.

star,
I totally agree with this statement!

I'm still submitting my Mediabase forms every day. I don't know how much good it does, but it only takes a couple of minuts. I see that two stations have both BA and HMW on their playlists: WJIM and WSPK. Another station has just BA: WFLY.

If anyone has any other stations with either song on the list, please post them here.

Deb - I voted at that Summer Jam link, and I think Blake is actually at #4 now.

Aww, I didn't watch SYTYCD, but I'm glad BA was on there! IMO the exposure on that show helped propel "Apologize" forward.

Skipperdjl,

Personally, I’m hoping if the label doesn’t get him on tour, he can do it himself. I don’t know the restrictions of 19, or the label contract.

I agree. The sooner the better. I hope Blake is working on that or will be in the nearest future. Touring is where Blake shines. I could see the reaction during the concert in Pa. Some artists are born to perform live and I think Blake is among them. He has charisma and rapport with the audience that some artists lack when they are to perform in front of live audience.

I also agree with Newduck about Blake needing to continue to put the word out about his cd. There is nothing wrong with selling a great product or encouraging people to buy it. I see it all the time on other artists spaces. I do believe, there are still many fans who do not know about cd. I went last week to my hairstylist, who as it turned out was a huge Blake's fan. She did not know his album was out. Of course, she got one from me with a word to spread the love to others. With so little airplay, there have to be creative ways to promote Blake's music.

Great to hear that someone used Break Anotha to auditon for the other show. I do not watch the show, so hopefully somone will record it.

What with Break Anotha on So YOu Think You Can Dance and What U got 2 Lose on an ABC Indy 500 promo, it sounds like Blake's "people" are working to get Blake's music played in a variety of media outlets and formats. I hope they keep up the job. You never know when a song aired on a TV show might strike a chord. I'm a fan of the band The Bravery. One of their songs on their current album, a song called The Ocean, was used in a Grey's Anatomy episode to great effect. Shortly afterwards there was a surge of downloads for the song The Ocean. In this age of itunes where people can cherry pick a particular song off an album, getting songs placed in an ad or a tv show or a promo or a tv dance competition has the potential to strike a chord. Radio is no longer the only game in town.

And I do hope Blake is able to put a tour together this summer or fall. He shines on stage and he needs to be let loose to show what he does best.

SYTYCD = 19E, so it would be great if they'd choreograph a routine to one of Blake's songs sometime this summer. I know a lot of people were introduced to 1R's "Apologize" because of this:

I would've loved to have heard a track from ADD in an episode of Gossip Girl! I got introduced to one of my favorite new bands, The Kills, because they used their music in a couple of different episodes.

Just got 3 copies of ADD. Now who should i give them to? Someone before asked how to keep blake out of obscurity. The answer is simple, its either we start a revolution, or ADD will fail and his career will most likely go with it. Our goal should be for everyone in the country to own a copy of ADD.

Supposedly, they did though with "Apologize." I remember 1R sending out an MS bulletin saying that there was such a strong viewer response from that initial playing of the song, that they'd asked them to come on and perform the song on the show.

I taped SYTYCD and sure enough approx 18 minutes into the auditions, the song BA was used..the dancer was so bad..but I thought in replaying the dance, did anyone ntice that Nigel took note of the song??? you could see him leaning or cocking his ear to listen to the song..maybe he was trying to remember where he heard it before...just an opinion...

I forgot about media base..but again BA has been played everyday ..again yesterday so keep requesting on xmfan.com on UPOP 29... have to get the request for station K104 since they too have been playing BA..I'm sure DC's songs will be psuhed so I don't wont Blake to get lost..

on his webpage..he is still doing radio interviews? WHy?? if they are not playing his songs??? don't understand the marketing strategy
maybe those new radio stations are more dance/electro oriented?

rather see Blake booked at small venues where he would be performing

Unfortunately, when the songs play on those shows, most people have no idea who they are and don’t make the effort to find out.

It depends on the show. I think SYTYCD flashes the title of the song and the artist up on the screen, once it gets to the part of the competition where the finalists are up there performing their routines. Gossip Girl does a little thing at the end of each show saying "Tonight's episode featured the music of..." and tells the artist name and shows their album cover onscreen.

I think you'd be surprised how many people make the effort to find out the name of a song when it's used in a commercial or a TV show. Read any of the TV show threads at TWOP and you'll always see people asking, "Does anyone know the name of that song?" And the iPod/Mac commercials..."New Soul" by Yael Namin (is that the right name?) shot up in downloads once people figured out what it was.

Someone else posted this link before, but just posting it again so everyone can still keep voting for Blake. You can vote as many times as you like. Let's tell the station that we are excited that he is going to be there!!!!
