Weekly Chat, 5/25-5/31

ETA2: Vote for Blake as often as you like at http://www.flysummerjam.com/. Anyone here going?

ETA: MJ clipped the SYTYCD audition to “Break Anotha.” Watch at your own peril.

Don’t miss the vids of Blake singing “America the Beautiful” and “How Many Words” at the Green Apple Festival. You’ll have to register, but it’s painless and well worth it.

Thanks Nikki, EOTW and MJ!

ya they need to have good dancers dancing to blake’s music!!!

  2. 102 Arkarch May 29th, 2008 at 5:53 pm

What timeframe was the SYTYCD auditions taped?

  3. 103 EndOfTheWorld May 29th, 2008 at 6:04 pm

Although, I’m sort of embarrassed for Blake to have such a bad dancer on it.

Yeah, he was pretty awful. But not bad enough. If he would have been really, really, really bad, then people would have wanted to see it more and then it would have gotten lots of hits on youTube. :laugh_tb:

  4. 104 music4me May 29th, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Ouch, that “dancer’s” audition was painful. Well, maybe a few people will take notice of Break Anotha that might not have otherwise. But can we have an Apple commercial instead, please?

Anyone else wondering if B might do a new arrangement of BA at FLYsummerjam?

  5. 105 Kasia May 29th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

Yes, the dancing steps were not very good. But Break Anotha sounded great. Blake’s songs have so much potential to be used in dance routines.

BT and DJ Dan will have a show in Seattle on 5/31. I wonder if anyone is planning to attend and whether Blake by any chance is going to be there to support them there. I am sure that show will be awesome.

  6. 106 newduck May 29th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

The “just added” info isn’t always as it seems. Sometimes they hold back announcements to make at a later date. Most likely all of the talent was signed on before the show was announced, though sometimes there are stragglers or hold-outs. Even then the planners know how much time that is allotted for those people.

There is an article about KFEST concert. I think you will like it.

    http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080529/ENT04/805300301/0/ENT02

I really like this part of the article. Sounds like Blake is preparing an awesome show.

Known for his beatboxing acumen -in short, that’s the ability to produce beats and musical sounds with his voice and mouth -Lewis told the Poughkeepsie Journal earlier this month his KFEST set will essentially consist of a guitar, a keyboard and his vocal loops.
“It’s kind of like a one-man-band show,” Lewis said. “It’ll be me and my loop pedals.”
That’s the formula that made him a sensation on “Idol,” falling just short of the title Jordin Sparks took home.”

Another interesting article about Blake, as a fan of Star Wars. My son would be excited to hear that Blake identified with Anakin. Enjoy it.

Very fun! Glad to see someone else that knows about “Time Bandits,” one of my favorite movies too!

Seems they dumped the poll on summerjam.

Last I checked, someone was hitting the site hard for Ferras at a rate of 5 - 10 votes per second and kicked him up to near 30%…. had to be an automated program as 20,000 votes were cast in the span of an hour.

  12. 112 jenlar May 30th, 2008 at 2:34 am

*hearts* the geeky Blake! Sounds like he’s a real fantasy movie fan rather than sci-fi. I love every movie he mentioned. They’re just great!

  13. 113 VeeKay07 May 30th, 2008 at 8:13 am

I can’t remember if I posted about this before, but anyway…

I was at HMV last week and was scanning through the shelves when I came across one shelf labelled ‘Most Wanted Music’. Curious, I go to the counter and ask the lady what they consider as ‘Most Wanted’ - whether they were recommended cds, best sellers etc. She told me that the cds in the ‘Most Wanted’ section were cds that were ‘pretty good’ or on an offer.

Oh yes, have I not mentioned that A.D.D was in the ‘Most Wanted Music’ section? ;D

  14. 114 Bully May 30th, 2008 at 8:26 am

How have sci-fi and fantasy films influenced you?

They’ve influenced me quite a bit. My favorite movie is The Fifth Element and I’ve always loved both sci-fi and fantasy films. I really enjoy stories with a hero’s journey as well as fantastical creatures. I was raised in the ’80s so movies like Star Wars, Time Bandits, The Never-ending Story and Labyrinth made me a huge fan. Even now with movies like Narnia, Harry Potter and all these other cool films coming out, I’ll never stop being a kid.

    *hearts him*
    Me too, Blake. :-)
Thanks so much for this article Kasia! I loved his answers to these. (The one about Anakin, and being a Wookie? Yeah, killed me.)

I’m always a fan of the Wookiees! In society there are some people that just aren’t understood and feel like outsiders like the Wookiees and I can relate to that.

Is it also because Wookiees don’t have to wear pants?

    Yes and that! [Laughs]

:laugh_tb: Ah, now the whole “Commando” thing is beginning to make sense! It brings out the inner-Wookie in him.

Thanks for the article. That was really great. Wow, he sure knows a lot about Star Wars.

Seems they dumped the poll on summerjam

The poll is back now, but they only let you vote once. LOL.

Those pics are quite fantastic! I really love the 2 articles/interviews too. It’s nice to see some good press. If anyone is going to see Blake on Sunday, I hope they know we expect a full report! Have Fun!

  24. 124 CJ May 30th, 2008 at 6:54 pm

Girls guess what! I was just at the Verizon Wireless store (where I had to wait for an hour BTW) and the music playing in there was Break Anotha!! I about flipped out. I could hardly stand still and wanted to dance around the store! I noticed other people in line swaying to the music as well. I’m lovin’ it!!

  25. 125 Kasia May 30th, 2008 at 7:23 pm

Blake added one appearance on myspace at Canal Room in New York city on 6/24. I would love to go but it looks like the age limit is 21. I would not be able to take my children. :sad_tb: Tickets can be purchased on ticketweb. I think they are 25 $.

Looks like a very nice club. Very modern. See the encolosed link

Is he actually serious? Wow. Good luck to him selling tickets. They better promote the hell out of it. I’m really, really upset right now about this being just months short of the age limit.

And no, it’s not the venue’s decision. I’ve seen shows there. It’s the artist.

  27. 127 Kasia May 30th, 2008 at 7:42 pm

    greenyesxo,

Do you mean it is Blake’s decision to put the age limit for the event? I would take my kids for the concert, as it it only about 2 hour drive, if there was no age limit.

It looks like other concerts in June in this club have also age limit 21.

  28. 128 Vicki May 30th, 2008 at 8:30 pm

On the club’s website it says all shows are 21 age limit. I was just watching the SYTYCD video again. The hoodie that guy has on is similar to one B has.

Thanks for those pics greeneyes. Gorgeous!

  29. 129 Pam May 30th, 2008 at 9:43 pm

Those pics were just wow! :wub_tb: Thanks for the link greeneyes. :) I remember seeing that horrid audition last night and hearing BA. I couldn’t help but smile and it sort helped you forget how bad that audition really was. :laugh_tb:

Hey guys! Thanks to Wolf (from IdolBored) and Star, we have a little BLArmy logo that links to the myspace on our side bar! :-)

I see it! Hee Hee….Is that plaid I see in the lettering? Love it!

  32. 132 newduck May 30th, 2008 at 11:06 pm

The age limit is set by the venue almost always. I can’t believe a bar would let an artist make a decision like that anywhere, especially in NYC.

  33. 133 dani May 30th, 2008 at 11:14 pm

aww… to bad blake ain’t gonna be at the summer jam.. if he was I could get tix (or try) and go see him cuz I’m in alabama! :( but since he’s not I don’t care enough to go see jordin…

  34. 134 greeneyesxo May 31st, 2008 at 12:52 pm

Really? Because as far as I know they do. Like I said in my post, I’ve SEEN shows there and I’m under 21. For those shows it would say on their website “18 and up” or “16 and up”.

  35. 135 NBNN May 31st, 2008 at 2:00 pm

greeneyesxo - I’m so sorry you won’t be able to attend. It looks like a great venue. I’m wondering if they have changed their policy on ages? At the top of every month on their calendar it says “21 and over”. The cynic in me says they are trying to sell more booze.

Blake’s is the highest ticket listed for June - what has been your experience with cost?

  36. 136 Kasia May 31st, 2008 at 2:05 pm

    NBNN,

The cynic in me says they are trying to sell more booze.

That is what I was thinking too.

The recent concert in Pa that I attended did not have age restrictions for Blake’s concert. To attend the group that performed after him, people had to be over 21 years. I guess the age restrictions in the same venue might differ.

A new information that I found out. Kevin has an appearance in PA on 6/27 and 6/28, which I would love to attend, and I sent him a question about that. While I visited his myspace, I noticed he has listed on 6/19 a concert with Blake and ADD in Las Vegas. If it is true, it sounds like the entire band will be there. We need a confirmation. :smile_wp:

  37. 137 Kasia May 31st, 2008 at 2:38 pm

Speaking about Kevin, he posted a link to an interview he did recently about his music and influences. Kevin mentioned Blake in this interview, that was kind of funny. Still in disbelief that Blake was in a show like AI.

It’s so good to see both Blake and Kevin out and about performing!
