As most of you know, the American Idols Live tour finally kicks off this Friday, July 6, in Sunrise, FL. For the next 2 1/2 months, the top 10 contestants will travel around the country in one of the summer’s biggest tours, and five of your very own readers, posters, and/or admins will be there firsthand at the second stop of the tour in Tampa, FL this Saturday night. Yes, we are just slightly excited. In addition to those of us going on Saturday night, all of the admins here at Team Plaid are going to at least one tour stop, and we’ll do our best to report on all the details from the stops that we attend.
However, we obviously cannot cover 50+ tour stops alone, so here’s where you come in. We want your recaps!!! We know that there are lots of you out there who are going to a stop of the tour this summer, and we want to hear how your concert went! We know that you are fabulous writers, photographers, and videographers, and we’d love to put up the details of your Disney on Ice AI tour experience. We will open a blog post for each concert, so please feel free to post your recaps there. Or, simply email us at teamplaid@gmail.com with pics, links to photobucket accounts, and… recaps! Sure, the songs at each concert will be the same, but there are always fun little details that differ from city to city, and we love to know this stuff! And we especially want to know if you were lucky enough to score Meet and Greets and got to meet the Idols, or if you were just patient enough to wait by the busses for a quick hug, picture, and autograph!
Please use this space to find others who are going to your same tour stop. Feel free to post which city you plan to go to, but please DO NOT post detailed information about where you are sitting or eating beforehand, etc. If you would like to contact someone about meeting up at a specific concert, and you do not already have their contact info, please email us at teamplaid@gmail.com, and we’ll be happy to get y’all hooked up. But please, for your own safety, do not post your email address or any detailed information here.
Thanks to you all! Here’s to a summer of fun tour info!!

Portland, here I come!
6/28 @ the Rose Quarter
Birmingham 7/12 :) :) :)
Oops. I mixed up my dates! The Portland, OR concert is 7/28!…and I’m still just as excited as when I posted it the first time!
Thanks Sarah!
Yes, I demand recaps! Many of them! And pictures..You can make one Finnish woman very happy..
Glendale, Az - 7/18. 16 days & counting!! There’s 8 of us going (from New Mexico)!
September 12 in Duluth, GA. This is the “Atlanta” show.
There is a possibility that I may show up before the show in Jacksonville on 7/8, but only to stalk the tour buses!
Well, I will be the first to post how incredibly OTT I am… since I’m going to multiple tour stops this year… on opposite sides of the country, at that. LOL.
First, there’s Tampa on Saturday (7/7/07!), because it’s the closest tour stop to me, it’s the second tour stop, and I get to meet up with my friends from MJ’s!
Second, there’s Seattle on 7/27, since that’s the week I already had scheduled for my vacation, I plan on traveling to Seattle for a few days, since I’ve never been there before and the concert is at the end of that week. Also getting to meet up with MJ’s and Team Plaid friends there.
Last, there’s Manchester, NH on 9/22 or 9/23. I wanted to go to the last tour stop, because typically the Idols go all out for the final concert of the tour and it’s a whole lotta fun. However, I was planning this when the last stop was supposed to be on Saturday, 9/22, then they had to add another stop on the 23rd. Grrr. I am still going to Manchester for the concert and to meet up with more friends from MJ’s, but I haven’t decided yet which concert I’m going to.
That’s it for me. LOL.
Gahhh… somebody come to Georgia!!!
Portland, OR - 7/28!
I just updated the “Tour” tab at the top of the blog with a link to this page for easy access back to this thread once it gets buried by other posts.
I also updated that tab with a direct link to the Ticketmaster page for the tour.
And Jenlar, I’d come to Georgia if it wasn’t in the middle of the week. :(
July 22!! I’m flying there just to see them!!
PHILADELPHIA - 9/7. I will be there. Woohoo! :D
LA, HELL YEAH FIRST ROW LOSTS OF PICS COMING!!!!!!!!!YAYY
When I read the title of this post, in my head it sounds like Kanye West shouting ‘We want prenup! We want prenup!’ in “Goldigger.” WE WANT RECAP! WE WANT RECAP! ;)
Anyway. I will be in Nashville 7/11. Woot!
The tour is arriving for me in late August. Thanks Sarah, about offering to state some recaps of the show.
Last year I was on the fence about the finalists tour, but when I read about the songs, set, styles of the concert, I just had to go. I really liked Taylor, Elliot Chris. Fortunately, I caught them all at the same time. I got other chances to see Taylor when his album was released. With Chris, the management is planning a great strategy for his album and touring future and the venues have limited capacity, and I missed out on that. Got to see Chris on Good Morning America, which was fantastic. With Elliot - he was headlining his own solo tour and his stop in my locality was the same day as the final 2 performance night when I had to vote 4 hours for Blake. There are future tours, but I am glad I got to see Elliot and the rest last year. Never know what is gonna happen for the solo tours.
I do hope Blake is figured prominently on the Pop-Tarts tour and the Wade Robson choreography; then, I will have to attend.
I’m going to the Worcester one on September 5th.
umm Wade Robson choreography. How GOOD is that gonna be. Excited.
Hoping Mr. Lewis has the only working microphone the night of the show here in Nashville. I’m a hater. Sorry other contestants. I just don’t love diva singing that much unless you are Patti Cathcart. But I am happy for all my friends who do. I will probably enjoy Sligh and Richardson. Phil has a great voice…but not my thing. Who else was there? Kidding.
My kids recv’d their Blaker kids shirts, and are excited to be seeing the Blake Lewis show as they call it.
So we will be at the Sommet Center in Nashville on July 11.
Two days later I will also be seeing Planet of the Drums with Mr. Kevin Sawka while I am on vacation in San Francisco…so exciting as well. I totally hit him up to sign some drumsticks for my 5 year old. He said he would. He is great.
You guys should absolutely check out Dabouge…Kevin Sawka is in that group and they are super terrific. Look em up on myspace.
Can’t wait to see all the pics about to start flooding in, and to hear some great music.
I am going to the September 15th show in Huntington, West Virgina - I would def. love to share my recap and any pictures I get! =)
charlotte, nc - sept 11th! woohoo!!
but sooo far awayyy :(
please please yall give recapssss!!
i won tickets off of the radio so i could have a good excuse for missin lectures from college, aha.
and let me know if any of yall it works w/waiting by the tour buses and all cuz if so, my sister & i are soooo waiting there forever!
I’m so jealous! The only time the tour is anywhere near me is when I’m on vacation in Canada. I hope you all enjoy the concert on Sat., Sarah. That’s my birthday so will want to hear that you all had a great time, lol. I can’t wait for the recaps!
I won’t be able to have any photos or vids since our seats aren’t close enough, but I’m up for the recap. Hopefully someone else in BHM will have pics or vids. Star, you send Blake down to me in one piece, ok? ;)
Like Sarah, I am attending three shows. I will be meeting up with Plaidsters and MJers in Tampa and Seattle. Of course, I will attend the Chicago show as well.
Glad to see so many attending the tour. We should have fun with the stories/pictures/vids while we anxiously await the release of Blake’s first album.
:)
I’m going to the show in Houston on July 15th. I have close seats, but I’ve heard the venue is very strict about cameras, so I may not get pictures. I’ll be happy to provide a recap, though.
I’ll be at the 7/19 show in San Diego, which judging from my survey of this and other sites NO OTHER BLAKER IS ATTENDING :’( … haha, but I look forward to being the most knowledgable fan stalking the tour buses!
Well, the Miami Herald was not too happy about the results:

Idols’ opening night of tour a bumpy one
By HOWARD COHEN
Given that American Idol set the bar so low this season a mole would give itself a concussion, the opening night gaffes for the tour from Sunrise’s BankAtlantic Center Friday night weren’t quite as off-putting as they might have felt at another more professional concert.
This is, after all, the top 10 performers out of more than 100,000 who showed up for auditions and it led to . . . Sanjaya Malakar.
Strictly amateur hour.
And yet, Idol producers at least tried a little something different with this tour by stifling some of the numbing predictability of previous versions. Instead of trotting out the finalists in order of elimination, producers teamed the cast in various combinations, but this led to too much Chris Richardson and Blake Lewis, both of whom lack the voices to fill an arena. It was too long a wait to hear from Idol winner Jordin Sparks, who didn’t get her spotlight until the finale.
These mix-and-match performances rose and fell based on the chemistry between the singers. LaKisha Jones’ huge voice impressed, her solo on I Will Always Love You was, by far, the standout of the tour. But she exhibited the warmth of Antarctica when paired with Melinda Doolittle. The gifted Melinda held back vocally, seemingly overwhelmed on the first night. The format could also use polishing, as the concert’s herky-jerky flow felt like a car with a faulty transmission.
Producers should also limit Blake, the beat boxer who finished in second place. He proved an irritating gnat, sputtering and spitting through too many contestants’ performances. Technical problems also marred his attempt to use loop pedals for a hip-hop portion — someone forgot to switch his mike on, he said. (Yeah. Right. Maybe that was just an excuse to explain why his voice failed to carry in the large space.)
The cast’s prerecorded video messages also felt impersonal and robbed these newcomers of much-needed experience in communicating with an audience live. Only Jordin was able to do so, but, vocally, the 17-year-old needs to define what kind of artist she wants to be. Her jumping from hard rock to country had the feeling of throwing stuff against the wall to see what sticks.
The night’s surprise: Phil Stacey, who proved his elimination on the reality series was premature. He outdid everyone, except for LaKisha, on his showcase number, Blaze of Glory. Who knew a Jon Bon Jovi song could have this much soul?
I’d say that Miami Herald review pretty much sucked! I did read a couple of others that were very good so. . . I can’t wait to see Blake. My only disappointment is that there isn’t More Blake in the show!
