The Blaker Girls just sent the following Myspace bulletin. It addresses rumors and speculation on Blake’s intentions in this competition.
hey guys! i just wanted to address some issues/rumors that i’ve heard ’round the message boards, in emails, etc.
1. blake is in it to win it (as Randy would say!). please do not stop voting for blake
because you think he doesn’t want to go all the way in this competition. he wants to go as far as the fans will take him. he feels so honored and humbled that you’ve all had such faith in him so far and knows you are the THE reason he is in the top 4!
2. the first place contract is too restrictive and will stifle blake. NOT TRUE! all of the contestants have contracts that could be considered “restrictive”. therefore, the further you make it the better because you’ll get more exposure, more opportunities to sing, and better offers after the show is over. look at kelly clarkson and carrie underwood; they’re doing pretty well! lol :)
3. the sooner blake gets voted off, the sooner he’ll be reuinted with chris rich. NOT TRUE! blake and chris will see each other regardless of when blake leaves the show. at the very least, they’ll see each other at the finale show (where they do a group performance), then all of june for tour rehearsals, then ALLLL summer long during the tour. don’t worry! blake and chris will see plenty of each other.
4. blake has said that winning isn’t everything. he said that because he knows that even if he doesn’t win, his life will go on and he’ll continue to do what he’s always done. he never thought he’d make it this far and feels that every week he’s here is a gift.PLEASE continue to vote just as much as you always have for Blake!! PLEASE do not assume he is safe and give your votes to someone else. It’s crunch time, Blakers! He’s ALMOST there, but as you all know, this is where it really counts. :)If you think that Blake should be our next American Idol, then please vote accordingly! :) Thank you all SO much for all that you’ve done for Blake. I know he is eternally grateful for all of your support. I’m constantly telling him how amazing you all are and that he really does have the BEST fans out there!!

I just love Kristi! I feel like I know her. Blake is so lucky to have such great friends. THey are incredible.
Honestly I always thought Blake really wanted this, I am so proud of him.
He is doing the best he can to keep his game up to par with Melinda and Jordin. He showed his determination last week with that amazingly brave performance. EXCLAMATION POINT!
We have to keep him in! I want to see him up there with Daughtry. He deserves this!

Agreed star about the Cake thing. Blake really does have a great team behind him. They are quick to put out fires and settle rumors with no ambiguity. He’s very lucky to have them.
Great bulletin. Seems like this happens every year about this time. I firmly believe that if you like a contestant, the best thing you can do for them is help them win. The best way for us to do that is to vote every week. I’m down for that.

I heard JT also beatboxes every now and then and I found one of his live performancse on you tube, I mean he is good but his beatboxing is nothing compared to Blake’s.
And even if JT is a great performer I think Blake is even better. Maybe I am biased.

The Cake thing has GOT to stop. I realize they are “BFF,” but what is with the fascination of teenage girls and their fantasies concerning males they perceive to be gay?? “I just don’t get it.” Heh.
Anyway, the first place contract IS widely speculated to be rather restrictive. And while Blake is creative and innovative, he’s not THE most groundbreaking artist out there, so he’d be okay. BUT Carrie and Kelly both had pretty bland, generic debuts with lots of crossover potential. Successful yes, but definitely formulaic. Blake is far from formulaic.
I think Blake could and would fight Clive’s bland hit-maker machine… but I’m not going to rehash my posts from a month ago talking about how the label is making a million dollar investment and doesn’t want to lose $$. Or how there is potential for a major clash of the “titans” with Blake demanding artistic control and Clive pulling the “I own your soul” strings and making him record “Places I’ve Been” and other schlocky Diane Warren ballads.
*shakes head* at point 3. and i agree with everyone’s comments. i dont get it either. hah.
all i can say is GOOOO BLAAAAKKKEE! i really want him to win it and i know y’all do too. i just think he deserves it most…and its not because im biased i promise.
have fun watching tonight’s performance! boo to u eastcoasters who get to see it before i do (yaay for living in san diego and its not live when its filmed 2 hours away from here. haha.)
maracaibo - i don’t think its fair to compare jt and blake. blake is obviously on a whole other level because he’s been doing this for years. i think justin has only been beatboxing for a few. he did a beatbox battle with his drummer during the NSA tour (yes, NSYNC fan here hahaha). i couldn’t find a vid of it but yah.

Blake is definitely in another league. But in any case comparing JT to Blake is like comparing apples and oranges.
I am voting for Blake to win this thing or at least get to the finale.
I was rolling my eyes at point three, too. Heh. I agree that Blake has a great team behind him. They seem to me VERY organized and marketing savvy. Lucky Blake!

maracaibo I wish I could see the JT video (blocked at the moment). I went to an NSYNC concert a while back so I’ve seen him do it in person, hee. I actually used to loathe JT, but I really like him now…his album is very good, and he’s the best SNL host evah.

What a great pal to have with Kristi. Blake’s got amazing family and friends around him. It’s reassuring by staying in touch with these messages.
Point #2 is quite important. From what I can gather, the finalists are in a contract already of some sorts. Depending on placement, plans by TPTB, there are different promotional angles for the contestants that do get signed. The immediate months after the finale are advantageous in the amount of momentum, media and connections that could make for a very fruitful music career. You just can’t buy that window of opportunity. And release time and the conditions of the music landscape are factors that determine the outcome of the CD.
