This Columbus Dispatch article on beatboxing mentions Blake:
The 25-year-old Lewis, who will learn tonight whether he survives for another week on Idol, has helped make beatboxing sound fresh to modern ears, said Matthew A. Donahue, an instructor in the Popular Culture Department at Bowling Green State University.
“He brings something contemporary to beatboxing,” said Donahue, author of the forthcoming book “The Message Behind the Beat: American Rap and Punk Music and Message.”
Finally, the online gossip rag TMZ has posted some footage of Blake and Chris hitting the LA Club scene. The spin? Chris is corrupting Blake. Right.
Well, we *all* know that Chris is to blame, right??? Because Blake is NOT a rule-breaker. Heh.

I don’t know about Lakisha, I think her time has come, but at least I am happy that Simon mentioned Blake still as a contender.

I agree that voting is very important tomorrow. After all, we don’t know how well he did last week and at this point, I’m not trusting DialIdol or Ricky’s voting order. I really want to see Blake in the top 4 and finally singing two songs next week.

No, pj, I wish I’d been able to. It’s been a bit of a crazy weekend. :)
My advice is just basically - if you have a Cingular phone with lots of text messages or have the disposable income to go buy a Go Phone, do it. Texting is almost always more efficient than calling in votes because you don’t have busy signals. If you can text vote AND call in votes from a landline (or using dialidol or skype), that’s even better.
Just do what you can. 10 or 15 people stressing themselves out over voting is not really going to do much good except to make you tired and stressed. If I have time to work on it this week, I’ll try to get it to Kristi for next week’s show, because top 4 is always a really tough voting night - everyone is pretty much virtually tied.
As I said, the key is basically TEXT, TEXT, TEXT.

I’m a text voter!! I wish we could find out Blake’s number ahead of time again (from a reliable source) so I could go ahead and save a bunch of drafts ahead of time like I did last week. That worked out pretty well.

Now that I have the go phone (blushes) I will text until I can get through, but it takes longer than hitting redial on the regular phones. I think once I can get through, rocking the phones will allow me more votes.
PJ, if you have the same model phone as me, you should be able to go into your outbox once you’ve sent one vote and then keep hitting resend. Much faster. The only thing is that it doesn’t count the votes, but you also don’t have to clear out the outbox after every 20 texts. :)
ETA: by count, I mean, the phone doesn’t calculate how many votes are sent. you have to manually count.

The “Wanted Dead Or Alive” spoiler that’s going around is fake, per Blake’s friend (Scion, the one that gave the “Lovesong” hints a few weeks ago).
Omg, thank God he’s not singing Wanted Dead Or Alive. Blake doesn’t watch AI, so he wouldn’t know that Daughtry sang it last year and that would be a mistake to sing that song. Anyways, I’m glad the spoiler is false.
According to Raina, and yes I know but she has had good info on Chris in the past, Living on a Prayer is false too. I’m thinking It’s My Life is really the only other one with good beatboxing potential.

Okay, here’s my speculation for the day…Chris is singing “Wanted Dead Or Alive.” I’m guessing that’s how Raina from IDF (who has Chris connections) knew the spoiler list that got posted was a fake, since she’d know it’s Chris’s song and they had Blake down as singing it.

Ah crap, I was in a hurry when I typed that post earlier and I left out the main reason why I think Chris is singing “Wanted”…isn’t Raina a DAUGHTRY fan? I remember seeing a recap of something she went to posted on AYN. Anyway, in the spoiler thread she says she’s got an inner conflict about Chris’s song choice. Well, since her fave last year sang it, I can see why she’d be conflicted.
Of course this is obviously just a wild guess, and it could be a different Raina than the one I’m thinking of.
