Or two-er, if you prefer. ;) It’s almost here, y’all! Here’s a spiffy little interview with all of the Season 6ers, courtesy Fox LA. Blake gets lots of screentime! The interviewer is most definitely on Team Plaid.
In summary…
ETA: Another great group interview from Access Hollywood! Make sure you watch the whole thing - Blake plays drums at the end!

Anne- I agree completely with everything you said, especially about hanging up. The interviewer *really* likes to hear himself talk, too.
Blake sounds very tired and a little hoarse. I hope that he gets some rest from rehearsing soon. He says that he’s energized by performing and going to live shows, but he *needs* to rest if he gets a night or two off.
Gahh… who sounds like a mom? *raises hand* lmao
So excited for his album!
BTW, Blake is the only one from season 6 still charting on the itunes top 100 pop songs (#58) and top 30 pop albums (#26). This is the third AI season when another contestant outsold the winner immediately after the show (the others were Clay Aiken and Chris Daughtry). The future does indeed look bright for Blake.
Please disregard previous message - I figured out how to download! Some of those DJ’s are hopeless. Oh well, Blake stood his ground & he’ll be laughing all the way to the bank soon!
LD- I just posted it to sendspace for you. Download & see if you can play it. Here’s the link!
Basically, it was an interviewer asking over & over if Blake was gay/was he sure that he wasn’t gay/I thought that you were gay. Also, he indirectly confirms YGLABN for the two-er, and that he’s not dating Jordin.
Thanks Jenlar. I don’t understand how many times he has to say “No, I’m not gay!” Oh well, he handled himself well.
My impression of this interview.
WTseriousF.
Blake is so much better than me. I would have been SUCH a hater. It’s like these DJ’s are in “Club my Radio Station is the center of the Earth” and they only understand sarcasm that comes from themselves. I love how they thought they were being all snarky, when in fact Blake was ruling at being awesome by responding with quick, articulate, to the point answers. Blake=smoothness. Oh…and to recap:
Paris Hilton was denied by Bshorty. The end.
Can somebody please give me details about B-Shorty vs. the biggest idiot morning DJ on planet Earth interview
please !!!!MY COMPUTER SUCKS

Well, that’s not gonna go down in history as one of Blake’s best interviews. I mean, he wasn’t rude or anything, he just sounded bored and uninterested. But the DJs were asking him boring and uninteresting questions. You get what you give, right?
It probably wasn’t very wise to refer to the Cake fans as “crazy 13 year olds”…but at the same time, it’s gotta be weird for Blake to see a doctored photo of himself sitting in Chris R’s lap, you know? Whatever. A few Cake fans aren’t going to make or break Blake one way or the other.
Nice recap, Fiona. LOL. Still love the fact that Blake has no use for Miss Hilton.
EDIT: Memo, see Fiona’s post. She pretty much covered it! ;)
Agree with all the above. He was quick and to the point, but never seemed to loose his cool all with very little sleep. Well done Blake.
I actually really enjoyed that interview because we got to see Blake under a bit of pressure and I thought that he handled it beautifully. He was adamant and firm in his responses but never abrasive or rude. He was polite but made no attempt to ingratiate himself w/the interviewers. He gave a balanced portrayal of the way the idols interact w/one another instead of being critical or Pollyanna. I’m developing a deep respect for Mr. Lewis. This guy seems to have real strength of character.
I don’t know if ya’ll will understand this or not but I actually do see why there’s so much buzz about Blake being gay. He’s a very meterosexual guy. He loves fashion. He’s a neat freak. He fits some of the old and outdated stereotypes. He’s also very affectionate and playful and those aren’t necessarily things that most people associate w/”manly men”. Please don’t get me wrong here, I LOVE THOSE THINGS ABOUT BLAKE and I think that more “manly men” should embrace them! I just see how gay men WISH he was gay and how they try to justify saying that he is. Blake is a guy that defies stereotyping. He simply can’t be wrapped up all neat and tidy and put in a box. He’s gonna continue to be misunderstood by some and criticized by others. People will persist in saying that he’s gay so we’d better get used to it! However, I think it bodes well for his future that he handles those things with such grace now.
One more thing to add to the “crazy 13 yeard old” remark. This guy is going to be 26 and based on his original music, ie. SLTW, I doubt he is used to this tween attention that he is getting.
Aren’t they, though?
Fiona Lattimer wins at life! You totally covered that interview.
I really doubt that Blake has any clue about how fandoms work… *especially* ship fandoms. Obsessive shippers ruin the fun for everyone (CSI, anyone?) I’m pretty glad that Blake let them (the photoshopping/autograph-forging/fake-quote-writing caketards) have it. I actually *do* feel a little bad for 13-year-olds everywhere, to be compared to the crazies!
The sad thing is that it’s not just 13 yr olds that seem to be Cakers. I don’t get why people persist in this. The DJ was kind of a jerk. After he heard Blake say that he wasn’t gay, don’t you think he’d have just shut up about it?
Katy, well said. I couldn’t agree with you more.
The whole CAKE thing. Whatever.
It seems so weirdly immature and ridiculous to me. I am sure Blake and cohorts are mildly amused and surprised that anyone actually takes it seriously.
And I think CAKE fans are either 13 year olds, bitter 30 somethings who want to claim that they don’t like Blake but really do, or lovely young gay men with vivid imaginations.
And personally I guess I don’t really get the gay thing. He seems overtly heterosexually masculine in my opinion. To me he pretty much exudes
hetero
“i want to hit that”
sex.
But that’s just me.
I don’t care if people think Blake is gay. I also wouldn’t care if he was gay. I might if he were my boyfriend, but he’s not and never will be. LOL.
I did think the DJ harping on his sexuality and dating life was a bit unprofessional. I think Blake handled it pretty well. He maybe shouldn’t have made the 13 year old crazy comment, but I was LMAO at that. Plus, he has mentioned that he’s tactless. Blake, I’m not mad atcha!!! Call me!
Seriously, I really think the Cake shippers are a bit over the top. I guess some of them at IDF are in a tizzy. If he loses any fans over this, then I doubt they were fans of his music, anyway. And I doubt it would be a significant number to affect his career.
Blake did sound tired and a bit frustrated by the stupid questions. He’s going to have to get used to the same questions over and over again, if he isn’t already. Hopefully, the next interviewers will ask him about his album and his music.
I think that Blake is getting pretty annoyed
with those questions of are you dateing Jordin?I think he has the fault because he should not hang around with a 17 year old alot and hold hands and kiss!!!!!
Um, Blake doesn’t really have a choice as to whether he hangs with Jordin or not. Due to the “AI bubble” and nature of it all, they’ve pretty much been joined at the hip for the past couple months.
I mean, does it really matter if he’s affectionate with Jordin? As PJ said, he’s not going to be my boyfriend, so why worry over it? Also, as HE said, she’s 17. That in and of itself should answer the question.
Also, I read some posts that say his comments dissed his fans. First, I don’t see how thinking the Cake peeps are a bit crazy is dissing all his fans or even the shippers. He just thinks it’s crazy. Ya know what? It is! It doesn’t mean he’s not grateful for the votes.
Besides, Blake owes us nothing but good music! That’s why I voted for him.
Not to sound snipy or anything. But I think Blake just assumes people will be intelligent enough to know that he is not dating a 17 year old.
Blake has even said that he doesn’t haave much tact. He says what he thinks. That is one of the things that I like about him. And I agree with Fiona, that Blake just assumes people will not think he is hooking up with a 17 year old.
Ummm. I’m a fan. He did not diss me. LOL.
I actually thought the reports of hand-holding with Jordin were sweet. I took it as, he feels protective of her, like an older brother. (No, I’m NOT shipping them, lol!)
I hope CAKE is over. I am in the CAKE forum on IDF now and again and its just a mad house. It was really getting out of control. They were photoshopping Blakes face onto a woman’s body. It was just too much. I can only imagine what they would have done next. They certainly were acting like crazy fans. At this point it might be better have the fans upset than have them create even more outlandish remarks and pictures.
I love Blake and I think he handled himself well in the interview. I am still a Blaker Girl at heart.
and
Well said. Both of you. Actually, *everyone* here has been well-spoken. But that’s nothing new. It’s a Team Plaid trademark!
*passes around the pitcher of plaid Kool-Aid*
And for old times’ sake…
GO TEAM PLAID! GO BLAKE!!!
I checked out that forum but decided that posting would be a complete waste of time. I’m not sure how what Blake said can be construed as a slap in the face of fans (gay fans are especially maligned according to the Chris R forum). From what I’ve seen, the ones who do believe the Cake stuff don’t seem to be real Blake fans anyway and if they are they should just get over it.
pj - I agree w/you 100% I feel like I almost heard a different interview than some folks. I keep listening to it over and over and over again and I hear it differently (the way I described in my previous post). He said “…crazy fans that are 13…” as a generalization meaning that the idea is ridiculous. It wasn’t an indictment of his fans.(IMO) I also hear him laugh and it doesn’t sound sarcastic to me at all — really tired and wiped out but not sarcastic. The only overt sarcasm that I hear is in the “I’m straaiiiiight” said in a gay tone of voice. (lmao) Which I thought was really funny!
I feel like I’m alone in this but I liked the interview. It might not have been what I’d have chosen to ask him (huge understatement) but I thought he handled it beautifully and I enjoyed hearing that.
You’re not alone, Katy. I think that we all liked it in one way or another. I really liked that he put an end to the Cake and Blordin nonsense in a way that will *maybe* let us focus on some other things in the interviews. Poor kid… he’s tired. Working *so* hard.
*gets in line to give him a hug!*
Katy, you always write what I’m thinking. I just listened to it again and I don’t really get all the fuss either. He sounded tired but said things were great and they had a lot to be happy about. He was funny when he said he was straight. The 13 yr old comment, so what. Thanks Katy for always putting my thought down for me better than I can:)
Sorry to post after myself again but this came in while I was writing so I didn’t see it. I AM IN SUCH ABSOLUTE AGREEMENT WITH YOU HERE, JENLAR. *Katy Hugs Team Plaid*
Love TP.
I listened to the interview today. First of all, he sounds totally wiped out. And bored by most of the questions. Obviously he rather talk about the music and the tour, not gossip items about himself. Too bad the Idol media handlers don’t bother to set up rules for what can and cannot be asked when he does these morning zoo shows, which are just the dregs of show business IMO.
As about the only guy who ever posts here, I have to say I find the cake fandom fascinating from a sociological perspective. I’m gay. I grew up in the 80’s. It’s amazing to me that in this day and age there are teens out there who are rooting for two good looking guys like Blake and Chris to be a gay couple. That’s progress of a sort–it certainly wasn’t the case 20 years ago. But the Cakefandom is rather over the top what with some of the manips and the forged autographs and fake chat transcripts. To me, Cake is real, but just as a friendship and I think it’s great the two guys have always been open and affectionate about their friendship. In some ways, it’s refreshing to see two straight guys be friends like that–it’s a return to a 19th Century concept of male friendship. Check out photos and published letters from that era, you’ll see what I mean.
Anyway, Blake is experiencing the downside of Idol. I don’t he expected to do as well as he did on the show and become something of a celebrity. Hopefully once his Idol obligations are over and his album comes out he will have more of a say so in what sort of media he will do. I think he would be better suited to an NPR type radio interview which could focus more on the music and the substance. But I think he’s going to have to work really hard to earn that sort of reputation.
Charles C. Thank you, thank you, thank you for saying that! It’s what I’ve been feeling and trying to say all along. It helps to have it come from a MAN! Cake is REAL. Cake is the way male friendships should be. It’s totally refreshing! I keep wondering why people don’t get the concept of friendship anymore! Of course Blake and Chris love each other. It’s obvious that they do. Heck, they’re the first ones to say it! FRIENDS should love each other. Why that’s such a hard concept for folks to grasp is beyond me! I graduated high school in the late 80s and my gay friends were socially outcast. It was awful. Heartbreaking. I’m so glad that the tide has turned in that regard because hatred on any level deeply disturbs me. What’s sad is that people are not respecting Blake’s right to define HIMSELF. We’re still fighting these old stereotypes. He’s affectionate and open and sweet so he must be gay. GRRRRR… Why can’t a heterosexual guy be those things? Oh wait, they can! Blake and Chris prove that!!
Loved the interview, can’t stand the DJs. I agree that radio shows, particularly morning shows, tend to be the bane of interviewing schedules. Too much drama, not enough info.
Blake definitely sounds exhausted in this interview. Poor guy is redefining “burning the candle at both ends.” At this rate, I’m not sure if he knows what his bed actually looks like anymore. His pillow is definitely due some alone time, that’s for sure.
I completely agree with Katy - Chris and Blake have a friendship that should be a model for friendships everywhere. I’m reminded of Blake’s performance of Imagine and how he talked about coming together to change the world. Loving friendships like Cake would do WONDERS.
As far as sexuality is concerned, I think it’s a highly unlikely possibility that the majority of any Cakesters or even Blaker Gals are gonna have the chance/opportunity to even get that close to Blake. Honestly, if Blake’s sexuality is an issue for you, then shut up and just use your imagination…just don’t write about it as if it’s fact when it isn’t.
Poor Blake but that is how famous people have to deal with lot of fake shit!I dont get the comment that Blake made about of Paris hilton hitting on him i am a little stupid sometimes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!EXPLAIN IT TO ME PEOPLE PLZ!
