ETA2: Here’s a new AOL chat interview with Blake. Also, the Yakima Herald Republic spotlights AriSawkaDoria.
Well! After a HUGE drought of news, we finally have a few things to talk about.
First of all, here’s a TV Guide interview where Blake talks a little about his upcoming album.
High points:
- He began recording on June 18, and has finished recording his first track.
- He has written seven songs.
- BT has signed on to produce, and Doug E Fresh is in talks to beatbox on a track.
- He wants to have four or five people beatbox between tracks.
- He would classify his sound as “electro-funk-soul-pop”. He is inspired by electronic music, and wants to bring some of the vibe of 80’s music back to his sound.
- “They” want the album out by Thanksgiving or Christmas.
So. My question is this: when are we going to get a dang signing and label announcement?! It would be nice to know who “they” are.
Also, check here for a tour video, and here for a radio interview.
ETA: Nevermind, no new videos from the poptarts site. :)
Thanks Jenlar, Star, and HannaK!

I hope there is some confusion somewhere down the line because things don’t sound right. Kristi simply saying he didn’t sign anything yet is one thing andf possibly understandable, but Ethan talking about recording the CD and putting it up for the highest bidder while talking about designing the CD’s artwork strikes me as..unprofessional?
OK, I say we should all bombard Jordin, AI, and 19 with emails asking for label announcements….let’s get this show on the road!
I am with you Laura. I am seriously losing my patience.
On another note, I hope to God he did not turn down a label. I know he wants control of his music, but I don’t want it to flop either. I guess Blake is willing to let the chips lie where they fall. I am so nervous now. Can’t they tell us some information. Plus, if Blake is recording his own CD, like a demo, then won’t the Label that wins the bidding war just make him rerecord all the songs anyway. I don’t know. I have heard many of Blake’s songs before and he is quite capable, but they all could be brushed up a bit. I hope he lets some people help him. I want him to do well so badly. (On another note, his songs are kinda sexy and I wouldn’t want a label to take that stuff out
)
On another note there is no reason Jordin hasn’t been signed and announced yet. She can pick songs from the writers. I think they are trying to be very careful with Jordin so she doesn’t end up like Hicks. They want a strong sells record. Nevertheless, I hope they don’t expect everyone to be like Daughtry. He was just really good. Elliot is doing well enough and so is Bucky I here. There are clearly different levels of success.
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Chat, Part II - Plus other info. at Team Plaid, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
