Recently, I’ve had a few people ask if the blog will still be around since American Idol the show is over. My answer has always been “as long as people are still reading and interested, we’ll keep it going”. You all are a great group of readers and commenters, and we have a great team here running things as well. And we love doing it - especially because we have a great subject to talk about. :)
We’ll still have plenty to talk about even if we won’t have spoilers or speculation or Tuesday night performances to discuss. We’ll have the tour this summer, anticipation for the album in the fall, and then hopefully Blake’s solo tour next year. But what can we do to fill in the gaps? We know we won’t have the kind of news and articles that we do during the actual season. So, the mod team got together to discuss an interesting idea that was presented to me by one of our posters, and we really like the prospects of the direction we’ve decided to go in.
We all know that one thing that Blake is passionate about is the underground music scene in Seattle. So, in addition to the tour news and iTunes updates and all things Blake that we’ll keep posting, we’ve decided to focus some time and posts on spotlighting some of the Seattle-based artists that he’s worked with in the past. We’ll also do some features on the more mainstream artists that he’s listed as influences or favorites. There’s a lot that we don’t know, and we’re all pretty excited about doing these features, if only to expand our own musical horizons.
We may also throw in some cool spotlighting on some of the improv comedy work he’s done, and maybe even some features on beatboxing and looping. So, if there’s anything you’d like to see, please email us, and we’ll see how we can work it in. In the meantime, look for the first feature sometime next week!
