Okay, my store report…I went to Target after work and they gave 4-5 slots to ADD :) they were all about half-full. I still think the album cover is slightly wack but you know what…it really stands out from all the other CDs so I think it was actually a smart move :D

Someone at Someplace Else said that on the front of album Walmart label, it says it is one of how many lot “ordered.” I looked, and mine has a Q21…and on the bottom of the label, it says 21sst. Does that mean they ordered 21, and only stuck out there a handful?? They do come in a Bulk Box of assorted stuff from the vendor. Spouse has been there when they were unloading(and told him, “Oh no, we don;t have that album in yet, sorry!” He told them, “they’re in there, keep looking!” heh.)
They didn’t have ANY in the “L” section, and no “Lewis” either. Let’s hope the interest in the album will cause more displayed Everywhere! :-D
(BTW, Fluffycakes was tossed out with all the squeeage of last week, along with some other peoples. I’m pondering another suitable moniker… I don’t know what I’m doing wrong over there, but it’s discouraging!)

I’m very encouraged by the iTunes rankings so far, #16 overall and #2 in Pop (only second to Colbie Callait, she of the bubbly noses and toes.)
These stores have more than what they put out in the bins obviously as hso was talking about earlier with out Walmart here. When everything in the bins is gone, then they restock. Here is what I was told by someone who works for Walmart:

pam that is true because ive been in the said walmart above with my roommate and we noticed how they had boxes in the aisles that they were stocking, and they were dvds etc. and had labels on the front over the packaging labels and tape that said stuff like “do NOT stock until at midnight”. we saw that stuff in person because she was waiting for the person that worked there to open the box and get her out a dvd… im thinking this was pirates 2, but thats besides the point. they def have to wait and are not allowed to open the boxes because they are clearly labeled to do so at certain times and are lined up in the back. my sister works at target and she confirmed that this is so at target.

I bought two copies of the CD last night at Best Buy–one for me, one for a friend. And I downloaded the ADD from itunes. So I did my bit for sales.
Now on to the important matter: the music. I really like the album. I did my best to keep myself naive before buying it. Other than Break Anotha, I stayed away from samples, leaks, streams, etc. I’m glad I did. I really like the continuious flow of music and how it flows together. The album has a major 80’s feel, yet still sounds contemporary. My favorites after two listens: Here’s My Hello, Surrender, What’cha Got to Lose (really like the Roger influence there), She’s Makin’ Me Lose It, How Many Words and the itunes bonus track, Human (which was co written by Blake and Chris Rich–nice surprise). I’m looking forward to tomorrow as I’m flying off to the West Coast so I can ADD over and over again on my flight. I think Blake did a really good job on his debut, I can’t wait to see his live show. By the way, in one of his interviews Blake mentioned that he wanted ADD to be like a live show and I get it–when I heard those interludes, I was picturing the lights going down for a couple of moments before seguing into the next song.

Aida, Rent…its all good to me! Nice thought! (altho it’s a little icky, that the whole album could be construed his obsession for a single woman, IMO. I like the idea of it more in a panoramic movie scope, like Dune or something)
chatforblake– I really really wanted to have a working moniker for when the album dropped, and so I used the new one very sparingly…and they STILL found a problem. Because everyione was squeeing that day, and using a chat-room style i guess, I don’t know. There were a bunch that were pushed out for that last week–its not just us. It is discouraging tho, yes.

Nic, Daughtry was on yesterday’s–and he was very nice, and is talented draw-er too! I didn’t know that. (He wanted to be a comic book artist, and that more nerdy thought makes me just like him a little bit more.)
I just listened to “Human”, wow! I was getting the whole futurist, Transformer vibe. I love it, very fun to listen to and great lyrics. Thank you Blakey and C. Rich for that.

Heh Nic! It was a good interview Jared did of Daughtry and his band. The one guy with the mohawk got a new tattoo across his whole belly in script that says, painfully–

Daughtry said that they have been writing, and getting songs together for the album that they’ll be starting in the New Year. They need to put them all together, and see what direction they want to go in. Want to give the fans what they want, while still interjecting some new stuff in there too, and “growing as an artist”. Good answer, and I totally saw Blake giving that same response, like this Spring! heh.
Meanwhile, he says he’s gonna be Off now for Christmas. So that was nice.
TheSauce is on live at 5 Central, but they rerun it later on that night. Can not wait to see the fun those two S6 friends are gonna have today! Jared seemed to be looking forward to it.

this is very true. When I walked over to the Wal-Mart display for new releases, the BShorty whacked out futuristic retro art jumped right out at me! :D Almost every other CD had the conventional face shot with a boring background, although Taylor Swift did have that floral art thingy going.. lol..
So Blake is predicted by HDD to sell 90,000 his first week. Does this exceed your expectations, or did you think he’d sell more?

I’m happy with the number, and I still think he could break 100k. Of course the number could swing the other way, but here is hoping it doesn’t. I also think that this album has legs, and will end up doing just fine in the long run:) On a side note, stopped by another Wal Mart; yes we have two Super WalMarts within 10 miles of eachother, because goodness knows you need more than one. Anyway, I had to check on the CD just because, and noticed that alot were still there. I said something to the sales person about that, and she said they did not get them out until this morning. So…anyway, thought I would share that.

Down almost 17% from the same week last year. You have to wonder if the drop in album sales is due to more and more folks just buying the singles they like off itunes
I said last week that I thought Blake could easily sell to his fanbase alone 100K. He has 63,000friends, and look at how many of us are buying multiples! The sales will continue, as people get on the wagon already. It could go on for a year, who knows?

I got banned for saying that I felt some posters were overrating Phil, Lakisha, and Melinda during their stay on Idol. And I only said that because someone else was gushing how THOSE three were strong performers with talent, or something, and I felt it was a dig at Jordin and Blake :/. The digital downloads are counted separate from the physical CD sales.
Actually, 90K is what a lot of us were expecting because the song is not being played on a lot of stations yet, but once the video debuts on Yahoo and MTV and people see him, it can make a big differences. Also, his TV appearances didn’t start until tonight. This was the month that Arista was planning to do the big promo. We are still hoping and crossing our fingers that the NYE special on Fox will be a go because it would be some awesome huge promo for him.
At this point, I really don’t care what some of the other fan groups think. They can have their opinions and that’s fine. This is a free country after all, but it won’t change my opinion of the CD if you know what I mean. As Nic and others have pointed out, extremely high #’s the first week are are sometimes followed by huge drops on week 2. It’s better for him to have longevity in the long run.

Good point. I want ADD to stick around for awhile. Hopefully Clive and TPTB will stick with it if the cd doesn’t light the chart on fire the first week.
I think that his first week sales look good actually. It doesn’t include the digital downloads, which are increasing in popularity, and since he does appeal to the younger demographic as well, I guarantee that’s how they are getting the album-I can’t remember the last time my 16 year old niece actually bought a physical CD. Besides, unless the fan groups picking on Blake are for Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, or Elliott, I don’t think they are in a position to poke fun at sales. The economy is tough right now and the music industry is showing the effects, so for me, I’m extremely happy if he hits that mark.

I’m really curious about the numbers he sells–but I don;t believe it is an indicator as to how well the album will sell. I played it this morning, a couple songs worth, because I woke up with that earworm in my head…”I-I-I-I-I’m thru…” and we had a girl from school staying overnight with us. She just had this quizzical look on her face! She’d never heard anything like it, and there I was, dancing around, shaking my groove-thing like in the “Hitch” wedding scene! heh!
