Blake’s good friend Ethan Newberry is traveling to LA to visit Blake and enjoy the California sun. He writes in a myspace bulletin that “this week is going to be fuckin’ KILLER so stay tuned for pics, vids, and stories.” Heh. Can he top this video? Look for him in the audience on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
Here is a video of the last time his friends (but not Ethan) visited.
Blake is the only Season 6 contestant to make AOL’s sexiest Idols list. He comes in at #5.
The Online Wire, a gambling newswire, asks What if Blake Gets Voted Off Next? Hrmmph! Not if my grubby voting fingers have anything to say about it! Blake’s elimination odds are currently at +800, which means a $100 bet for Blake’s elimination would yeild $800.
The Blake Lewis Online Photo Gallery has a lot of great stuff, including these untagged ones of the “behind the scenes” photo shoot.
Thanks CZ!

While I believe Blake wants to win, I would not say he is TCO. He could possibly be ONE of the TCOs. I imagine TPTB have worked out various scenarios with the remaining contestants.
I also agree with Erinn that Daughtry probably didn’t have a great deal of control over his album. However, I believe that he was able to work with people who had similar ideas about the type of record he wanted to make. Unlike, for example, Bo Bice.
I want Blake to make it to the finale and will be voting to get him there. That’s his only *guarantee* of getting a record deal. And yes, first is better than second… they’re going to be controlling no matter what.
I hope the songwriting competition yields better coronation songs than in the past, but I’m not holding my breath.
Ugh - I just typed out a whole post that vanished when I tried to send it. :(
Anyway, Erinn, don’t worry - I have no plans to stop voting for Blake. I want him to win. :) I just hope he gets to make a CD that is true to who he is, not who daddy Clive thinks he needs to be in order to sell.
I loved both Taylor and Bo, but to me, it seems some of the cheese seeped into their CDs. They both appeared to be headstrong, and know what worked for them, just like Blake does. I guess you just can’t control everything when you sign yourself over to this show.
But I do think Blake is so in touch with what works for him and what is current. I think he is probably the most current sounding singer to ever be on AI. And going by how his song choices chart on iTunes, I think he knows what people like.
Still tapping my fingers here, waiting for spoilers. Patience has never been my thing. ;)
Yah, I cringe at the thought of Blake singing something like “Do I Make You Proud”. I hope they come up with a song that fits his style, assuming he gets to the finale 2.
I think that of all the people who could “spice” up a DIMYP-type song on Idol, Blake is the most likely to do it. I just keep thinking of the groups round. They took a song that had been done many years in a row and killed it; and it was Blake that did too. Not to be down on the rest. There had been well coreographed, well sung groups in the past, but that was just over the top! I also think Blake is even more headstrong than Taylor.
I think Taylor did a decent job with what he was given. I’m sure the first one was even worse. I’m with you, pj. I’m not holding breath even with the contest. I just don’t think that the song has a long term effect on the winner (eg Kelly, Carrie).
I agree that the producers must have multiple scenarios for a winner, but I also tend to believe Ricky. If only because they desperately want a highly marketable winner. I still think Jordin is a question mark. I also think her fanbase is shallower than they think. One more mediocre performance on Bon Jovi night could see her Tamyra’d the next week. She really hasn’t been that consistent.
The more I’ve learned, the more I believe the problems with Bo and Taylor’s cds were not a lack of control. I think it may have been too much control. They are both great performers, and both really wanted to make a “marketable” cd. It think the decision to skew into a more pop-like vein was the artists. Not the producers. In fact, I’m almost certain of it in Taylor’s case.
My hope is that Blake just wants to make an album in the vein of the music he was making pre-Idol (eg Chris D). If that is the case, then we have nothing to worry about.
