What does Johnny's email say? Sorry I did not got any emails. I wish HDD number would trend up this weekend. This CD is too good not to be successful.

Here is Johnny's message and he does speak of his new pink do! Hee!

Hey kids!!!!

(I'm writing this post the following email: I glanced through this email after writing it and I think it might be a bit incoherent. But you'll get the major points, I think....Think.....OUch my head)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! THIS IS FUCKING NUTS.

We're going on 6 hours of sleep in the last three days and we've got two or three more days like this, I have never been on a promo tour like this before. It can only get easier I hope from here.

We played the Tacoma Dome on tuesday night. It was awesome, especially because it was a local show and the CD release party (and it was at the fucking tacoma dome). We all had a lot of fun, I especially like the replacement of the conventional lighters for slow songs which are now cell phones being held up in the air with the backlights on them facing the stage (ala 80's rock arena show) . So strange but actually quite beautiful.
We celebrated a little bit after Tacoma, got to bed at 3am and had to be in the lobby for the airport to go to New York at 430 am. Sweet! Travel all day, have a meeting at 8pm to 10pm the next day and then try to get some for our lobby call at 245 AM today! I couldn't sleep so I went for a walk in the "cold as a witches" streets of NY in search of coffee at 1am, it was really quite and surreal....I like the smell of trash cans in the morning!
that leads us to my tangent ass mofo story telling, delirious self to tell you about how we played "The Early Show" (Which will air in ten minutes in Seattle by the by). It was really fun and the crowd was awesome too (the pink hair really helps). The show is filmed at CBS studios by Lincoln Center in a very plastic feeling room with way too many lights. Everyone was really nice and the anchors and hosts were fun to hang out with. However, it's hard to take seriously when your on the floor in front of the teleprompters watching the hosts read the news off the cameras because we all quote anchor man constantly and couldn't stop referencing it in between takes. "Good evening and I'm Ron Burgandy?" Whammy.

Tonight we do a showcase for Clive Davis who is the bloody king of all things out here. Ian, our manager, told us last night that it was going to be the most important show of our lives. No pressure on 2 hours sleep and 15 hours of work before the showcase....no really it's cool, I'll just bend over now.

Regis and Kelly tomorrow morning at around 8am! Then we fly to Minneapolis right after and play some big ass arena with Avril Lavigne, Jordan Sparks, timbaland and folks like that. I can't wait to meet Avril, just so I can sing her own song (Sk8ter Boi) to her really loud in the hall way while I video tape her reactions. Then she will fall madly in love with me....oh, ooops....anyways
Ellen Monday. Kimmel Tuesday? Blah blah....Promo tours are insane, now I know why people can go crazy on tour. It's a good thing I take my vitamins.
After all the chaos and insanity, we prevail with good spirits, coffee, having a lot of fun and laughing our asses off at this absurd experience.

Your Brother in Arms,
Johnny Nails

Hey r

This CD is too good not to be successful

I couldn't agree with you more !! It may not happen this week but in my opinion, there are so many songs on it that have hit potential, it can't help but have legs!! I am so Happy for Blake and his band!

I hope too the Cd has legs, even if Break Anotha, doesn't work in the end, there are many potential hits on there.

Anyways, love that message from Johnny Nails he is hilarious.

I hope he gets to meet Avril Lavigne. Heh.
Oh and there will be a Jordin Speezy and B-Shorty reunion. Maybe they can do some duet together? Just kidding. That's cute they get to see each other again.

I really hope Blake surpasses the HDD prediction. We will see. Crossing fingers.

I think they are going to play a Jingle Bell Bash in Houston for KRBE on Dec 9th. Am I right?

Toyota Center 8:00pm. That's what I read somewhere, but I am not sure.

Yeah I had read somewhere that they were going to play the Jingle Bell Bash in Houston. When I went to the Toyota Center site though, he's not listed as a performer. I live in Texas so if he's going to be there I would make it out to see him. Does anyone know if they are really going to perform there?

I just went to Amazon to check status on my order, and it shipped yesterday. However, a couple of interesting things I saw, that maybe you didn't see...

Did you know we are up to 167 fun tags? heh! I am only responsible for about 35 of them, so good job you-all! :-D last check it was at 130 or something!
Also, a review under ADD there at Amazon:

"The strategy sessions over how to present Blake Lewis's post-American Idol debut must have been excruciating, as label-types scratched their heads, wondering: Is it possible to market a disc full of beat-boxing? If not, would the world warm to Blake Lewis, pop charmer? Or Blake Lewis, balladeer? The safest bet seems to have been to build a better post-prime time set by way of experimentation.
Audio Day Dream unfolds much the way late-season American Idol shows do: It sets Lewis on a lot of platforms and lets him play up his charm, if not always his straight-outta-the-'80s musical predilections. Partially the brainchild of producer Ryan Tedder (One Republic), "Break Anotha" is pure beat-box Blake and, as such, it's demonically catchy. The same can be said for hip-hop and electro-tinged numbers such as "She's Makin' Me Lose It" and "Gots to Get To Her." Stabs at sentimentality surface, and they're not bad: "I Got U" may very well get you, if you like soft pop stylized with a nod in Adam Levine's direction.

Overall, ADD demonstrates why Lewis blazed his way into AI's final round: He's out there, sure, but he's willing to reel it in enough to keep it real for the masses." -Tammy La Gorce

Hey Blakers,
I need your help getting BA on the radio in St. Louis. Our top 40 Z1077 "can't" play Blake's music as of now. However, they do have his entire album along with the video that was on blakelewiscomingsoon. They more plays it gets the more likely it is to get played on air so please, please, please go to their web site and play it, so we can hear on the air. The web address is www.z1077.com. Thanks girls and guys!

En, is it reasonable that the album is sitting at No.2 in itunes, but HDD projects it outside top 5? I am thinking maybe their projection should change after Monday. Apparently there are good word-of-mouth.

Let’s get our fingers crossed that he would sound good tomorrow in Regis and Kelly. A lot of people watch that show

Oh man, I hope he sounds better tomorrow. His voice was very strained today. I sldo think BA is just such a difficult song to sing.
May I say what were those screams Blake did in the beginning of the performance on the Early Show? I love the song but those were not necessary.

The final HDD prediction will be sometime tomorrow, then the building sales chart starts on Monday. After Monday the sales week will be over and they'll know much more than they do this week. The final SoundScan number will come out on Wednesday. Whether or not he ends up in the top 5 will depend on how high the sales are. Alica K, Josh Groban, The Eagles, these are people that are going to have huge sales in the 300,000 range. Even with good iTunes sales it might be tough to get close to top 5 if the others are that high.

Beccs,

I talked to Curt Copland. He was really nice, he just said that he didn't get to choose the music that they played. Taylor J used to be the music director, but she went to The Beat, so I don't know who does it now. I've even submitted an mypod play list and I keep waiting. However, Tatto just started plays in mid November. So I'm hopeful. It has to be a good sign that they have on their website.

Yeah, I was wondering if they'd even acknowledge him. Lol...sometimes they can be a weird station. You'd think they could change it up a bit and play Blake instead of those same songs over and over again!

Bully,

thanks for the tip, I'll go check out Rickey's site tomorrow. I'm trying to read through all this stuff right now and there's no way to catch up, hee!

Tonight we do a showcase for Clive Davis who is the bloody king of all things out here. Ian, our manager, told us last night that it was going to be the most important show of our lives. No pressure on 2 hours sleep and 15 hours of work before the showcase….no really it’s cool, I’ll just bend over now.

This Johnny Nails part at the end made me LMAO!! He is a very colorful character, isn't he ;)? I wonder what this showcase deal is... will this help Clive determine if the band shall stay as is?

Pam,

That is what I thought, but was thinking...no, that couldn't be. Hee. Also he still sitting at #15 at Amazon. Very positive that he still holding steady at these numbers. Jordin held #17 or #18 on Amazon for a couple of hours before going back up into to the #20's. This all to be a very good sign!!!

Anne,

It is a very good sign at this point. In fact, Blake stayed for the most part, at #14 for almost a couple of days and to still see the CD sitting at #15 going into day 4 is good.

Here is part of a review from VFTW. They actually liked the ablum, for the most part:)

Blake Lewis wants us all to get ADD, his semi-clever abbreviation for his debut album Audio Day Dream. After reviewing Jordin’s album, I was expecting more of the same post-Idol crap. What I found though was a surprisingly consistent and listenable album that is actually much better than the typical contestant fare. That’s not to say the album doesn’t have its problems (we’ll get to those in a bit), but overall, Blake may be the first finalist in the history of the show to actually produce an album that actually flows like a real album.

Thanks for the numbers Pam! LOL I think BA got one spin from the country station around here too, weeks ago...very weird. The Top 40 station finally picked it up yesterday with 2 spins in the wee hours...it's a start!

Nice to see those amazing iTunes rankings holding, and also the Amazon sales! I really think sitting so high on the iTunes overall chart will have a snowball effect and help sales :)

Here's my review for the album. Nothing to write home about, but I wanted to share. :) It's posted on my blog, too.

1-Silence is Golden (Intro)

I really like the idea of an intro, interludes and outro for an album. This one as an etheral vibe to it, that intrigues and leads into the next song really well.

Break Anotha

First single off the album, this groovy, a-little-bit-of-everything song warns us all about the dark side of those around us. Nice first introduction to show off what Blake can do. Good vocals, awesome beats that make you groove and move. Catchy chorus that one can't help but sing along to. Love this one for its rock/hip-hop/electro/ska vibes. The break down is amazing!

3-Gots to Get Her

Love the spanish influenced guitar and the horns at the beginning. Inspired by "Puttin'on the Ritz", this is another great get up and dance song. This little passage in the song says it all for me:

"Every little thing that she does is magic, All I really know is I've got to have it"

4-Know My Name (feat. Lupe Fiasco)

This song was leaked a while ago. It was an unfinished version, without Lupe's rap. Gotta say, the rap does add to the song. About Celebrity crushes, Lewis has been teased about this one since he mentioned it was about Nathalie Portman, his own celebrity crush. Vocals are amazing, with some Prince like falsettos thrown in. Fantastic.

5-How Many Words

One of Lewis favorite and most personal song, this one is the kind of song almost anyone can relate to. For those out there longing for Lewis' velvety vocals, this song's for you. One of my very favorite off this album.

"I', letting you go, You're letting me down, Been caught in your reign and I almost drowned"

6-Surrender

The lyrics are great. The beats are awesome, sexy, pulls you in. I love the layering of vocals and back vocals. This one has a real One Republic flavor.

7-Hate 2 Love Her

Lots of piano on this, it reminds me of One Republic because of it. The bridge is totally rad, with the piano building up. Blake's vocals are again fantastic. The A.D.H.D. interlude is probably my favorite of them all.

8-Without You

To me, this is the weakest track on the album and it is still a great song. Blake's crooning vocals are silky and sexy. I adore how he sings it softly throughout the song, only to build it up in the bridge with the piano. The ending with the layered vocals is really, really nice. Over all, a bit cheesy around the edges, but still a beautiful melody to sway from side to side to.

9-Here's My Hello

The chorus of this one is KILLER. Wow. There's a bit of a robotic/electronic feel at the very beginning and then in the bridge. Love it. The lower vocals in the bridge are so sexy.........

"Here's my Hello, Don't say goodbye, Do you want me, Just stay here with me tonight"

Oh and the Dirty Funk interlude? LOVE!!!!!!!!!!

10-What'Cha Got 2 Lose?

One of two track co-written with Chris Richardson. The 30 second snippet on iTunes does NOT make this song justice. Absolutely adore the robotic vocals throughout. The bridge reminds me a bit of Michael Jackson. Very funky and fun. This song benefits from several listen.

11-She's Making Me lose It

Blake is channeling his inner Prince on this fun song. Oh does he ever! Once again the chorus is very catchy and the beats are funky and addictive. The instrumental bridge, with the vocal build-up right after are simply brilliant.

"I can't help myself, When she... She causes me to lose control"

12-Bshorty grabs Mic!

Beatboxing lovers, this one's for you!!!! Recorded live, this one is pure Bshorty magic.

13-End of the World

Another one of my very favorite. Big on vocals, this song shows Blake's range really nicely. The lyrics are beautiful and heartfelt, yet simple. The ethereal vibe, almost Imogen Heap-ish, of this song gives it a bit of a sad note, almost melancholic.

"I'm too weak to be strong, I can't be the only one, Holding on 'til the day you find me, Meet me at the end of the world, I'm waiting, Meet me at the end of the world, Please save me, This could be the place where we start, The rest of our lives"

14-1000 Miles

The guitar throughout is reminiscent of ... I can't pinpoint it, but to me, the guitar is very distinctive. Classic 80's pop feel to this great song, including the robotic bridge. Love, love, love the lyrics.

"But did my words find you then?"

15-I Got U

Very nice ballad. Blake's vocals are so good on this, wow. I love the electro feel of this one. Very catchy lyrics leading up to the chorus. Love the synth.

"But it don't matter, As long as I got U"

16-I Choose Noise (Outro)

Absolutely adore Blake's ethereal vocals on this. The Kaoss pad additions are great!

17-Human (iTunes Bonus Track)

This is currently my very favorite. Co-written with Chris Richardson, the robotic intro grabs you right away. The vocals are stellar on this, letting Blake's voice shine bright. The lyrics are amazing, the bridge is pure genius - falsettos, robotic vocals, beatboxing - brilliant. The chorus is so damn catchy, I knew it all after only two listen (and that's a big accomplishment in my mind). The fact that this song didn't make the album just blows my mind and makes me wonder how many other gems currently sit in Blake Lewis' music journal.

"I'm just Human, Want to do things to ya, Sugar tell me where and when to start, I'm just human, And I don't want to loose it, Got to find a way into your heart, Before it's too late"

Here’s my review for the album. Nothing to write home about, but I wanted to share. :) It’s posted on my blog, too.

Catchy chorus that one can’t help but sing along to. Love this one for its rock/hip-hop/electro/ska vibes. The break down is amazing!

Nice review Bouffe.

The one thing that seems to be standing out from all the different reviews; the good and not so good, are all the different songs that are picked as the standouts. To me this is a very good thing. It shows how many strong songs are actually on this CD. It is so interesting to read the reviews and see which one the reviewer picks.

It is #17 at Amazon tonight.

It is #21 at Barnes and Noble. But I think that may be the highest it's been there, as I seem to recall the #36....

It's holding #2 at iTunes.

When I read a review that is so particularily well-thought out as Bouffe's, I remember little bits like that in a more intelligent manner. I tend to get lost in the song as it happens.

Having said that, my very favorite is HMW, and that "I-I-I-I'm thru" has been skittering thru my brain all week--as I have remarked more than once! I think Human is interesting, but my older ears haven't gotten past the electronic "sound" yet. I think that is the deal with this album for some people--the electronic sound to process. It hits different people different ways. The hook grabs you--and then as it reels you in? You realize you have just been nabbed! heh.

KMN was spouse's fav song, until the Lupe addition. He's still trying to get over that, being a prejudicial biased son of a gun. I've had a few people look at me oddly when i had them listen to the song, initially unsure. It's going to take a few listens for people to process what's going on, and just give in to it.

Well done review, bouffe.Well done. Redaing your words at "Meet me at the end of the world..." I could hear that echoing in my head, and so that for me a sign it's there to stay.
