Odds & Ends

A few things floating around the Internets…

One of my favorite Idol analysts, EW’s Michael Slezak, found a way to plug ADD in his recap of the season 7 finale.

That said, Jordin looked adorable (as usual), and seeing season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis mouthing the words to his one-time rival’s song gives me one more reason to plug his sadly underappreciated album Audio Day Dream.

If you haven’t read his recaps or watched his Idolatry vids, you should. Funny stuff.

ArtisanNews interviews Blake about ADD in the short vid Blake Lewis Remixes it Up. He talks about the music industry, his vision for ADD, and the addition of Lupe Fiasco on “Know My Name.”

Seattle PI ran this piece following up on Blake and Sanjaya, and gaywired.com has posted this interview, where he mentions a tour with BT in September and possible future projects with Black Thought from the Roots and Doug E Fresh. Finally, in this interview from dancemusic.about.com, Blake discusses the remix EP and his involvement in the electronic music scene.

Enjoy!

Thanks Kasia, Nikki, Star, Bully and EOTW!

Thanks for the interview links. Sounds like Blake is keeping busy and getting back to his musical roots. Good to see he has his eye on the future.

I gave my friend a copy of ADD today. I had it in a bag and told her, ‘Here, I want you to have this.’ She asked me what it was, and as she took it out of the bag the first thing she said was ‘OMG! I love this guy now… because of you! I love his song How Many Words!’ :D

All aboard the ADD train!!! \o/

Charles– I so agree. I just LOVED those articles yesterday, and Blake talking about the future and possible musical stuff. I love too that he always has something going on, and wants to do more. His eclectic tastes are what makes me wonder how soon he’ll be dabbling in the music producing end of things. The boy likes variety.:-)

Oh, and the picture at the seattlePI interview? nice.

VeeKay- Great work. We really need to keep pushing ADD until it gets recogition. Its such a great album and for it to get no attention is such as shame, lets keep working.

Bully I loved that picture too. I also was quite fond of the pictures from the finale. The shiny pants and a leather jacket? *swoon*

I love the interviews..but the one from Dance Music/Electronica was the best..Blake may just find his ‘golden ticket’ to recognizition as an artist through that avenue and not the POP stations..his replies were thorough and one could read how knowledgeble he really is..again, I keep requesting his songs especially on XM29..

I would love to see his sales reach 300K - maybe his appearance alone renewed some interest in him…hoping

ps..sorry but I did not care for Jordin’s song nor her apparel ..made her look hugh

“I keep requesting his songs especially on XM29..”

Joyce I have been requesting too. Looks like they have been playing BA:) I would also love to see his sales reach 300k.

anna..you are right..they played BA at 1:30 today so there is hope..

Yay– way to go Joyce! I sure like your spirit, and your ideas at sharing them have been really great too. :-)

    *waves at Vicki and Anne*
I’ll have to keeping checking that xm link. Could be helpful, even if we are requesting BA! Whatever avenue works best, eh?

Thanks pj for putting the articles and videos together. I loved all of them. Very insightful and give more information about Blake’s plans for future projects and about his musical influences. What a difference it is when the interviewer asks the questions that Blake is passionate about, is it not?

An interesting tidbit about Hybrid owing Blake a track for using Blake’s title on their album. Let’s see what they will give back to Blake.

So far, I’ve been checking in with my friend and she’s loved all the videos of Blake that I’ve shown her, including Emotional Waterfalls as well :D

Sidetracking for a moment, I’m gonna be auditioning for Teenage Icon (the competition I mentioned sometime ago) in a matter of hours, OMG!!!

  13. 13 Butet May 24th, 2008 at 12:53 pm

(Someone said this already I think) Every time I see that Coldplay iTunes video I remember Break Anotha. I wonder if they got that idea from Blake.

    Thanks for the links.

  14. 14 Nikki May 24th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

The videos of Blake’s performance at the Green Apple Festival are up, here. He did America the Beautiful and How Many Words. You have to register at the site to see the vids, but it’s quick and easy.

Good luck with your audition VeeKay!!

I loved his review of the finale. It was hilarious! :laugh_tb:

Nikki loved the videos from the Green Apple Festival. Thank you for sending the link so we could see them.

    GOOOooo VeeKay! :-D *shakes ponpons*
I hope it goes well for you.

Thanks for the GreenApple Festival vids! I almost despaired of ever getting to see those performances!

–and Butet? Yeah, I saw that vid of Coldplay’s, and ITA! It really does smack of BA. Hmmm!

In random question–Is anyone else having trouble getting YouTubes to work lately? Is it Firefox? I just don;t know what the deal is, but it’s frustrating.

  19. 19 Kasia May 24th, 2008 at 9:15 pm

Thanks Nikki for letting us know about those videos. Loved the modern version of America the Beautiful and How many words. I honestly do not know how Blake can coordinate all those activities, recording himself, singing, and playing the instrument.

I keep getting errors when I try to look at his GreenApple vids by clicking on their links. Do you have to join and login to the site to see them?

  21. 21 Kasia May 24th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

    Crystal,

Yes, you need to sign up. But it is worthy.

  22. 22 Crystal J. May 24th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

Okay - thanks - will do!

  23. 23 EndOfTheWorld May 24th, 2008 at 10:27 pm

    Nikki,

Thanks so much for the link to GreenApple. After all this time, I think I finally gave up in thinking we would ever see a video of his performances. I just loved his version of America the Beautiful. It was awesone.

  24. 24 Crystal J. May 24th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Duh - I feel really dense - I totally missed Nikki saying we have to register. I guess I was too excited to go see the vids. I got to see “America the Beatiful,” which was great! But, I had trouble getting the site to load the second vid. Maybe I didn’t give it enough time to load it.

  25. 25 Crystal J. May 25th, 2008 at 12:40 am

I just loved both of those vids. Great close-ups so we can really see and appreciate what he’s doing. But, I also love it when there is hardly any background music or effects, and we can just hear his wonderful pure voice. (Of course, the music and effects are always amazing though).

Reminds me of the time I went to a women’s rally down on The Mall, and I got to see Toad the Wet Sprocket.

  26. 26 Bully May 27th, 2008 at 7:48 pm

Vanessa– How did everything go for you, at the competition?
