New Blog from Blake!

Here’s the link to a new blog that Blake posted last night.

A little excerpt where he talks about the new single:

I’m here in LA for business with my record label and 19. We are in talks of the new single and I couldn’t be more happy with the news. Finally my dream has come true and the label has listened to my pleas. HOW MANY WORDs does it take for me to say that HOW MANY WORDs should be the new single. Well finally it caught on. Don’t know when It will hit the radio, but hopefully within the next month you should be hearing it on the airwaves. STOKED!!!!!! Thanks to you great friends.

Sarah, thank you for posting the blog. His dad said he was headed to Hollywood so I guess he’s there for Clive’s pre-grammy party among other things. Maybe next year B will be there as a nominee! We’ll do our part from the fanbase. Have a great weekend y’all!!

SO good to finally hear word from him! My God, like a sigh of relief just went thru all of fandom. *whew!*
Is it me, or does anyone else LOVE hearing about the painting the house, working with his Dad on getting stuff done etc charming? It is a super nice thought.:-)

HMW it is! I wonder which one the label wanted? and I wonder if a new business mgr means they were really unhappy about the way the last one promoted getting the single out, hmm?

What great news to wake up to!

HMW it is! I wonder which one the label wanted? and I wonder if a new business mgr means they were really unhappy about the way the last one promoted getting the single out, hmm?

Yes indeed Bully…HMW for the win! I am so glad that Blake got the single he wanted. His blog seemed so down to earth. Getting a new “casa” is one of life’s highs. Glad he gets to share it with his family and friends. Great times!

I wonder too Bully, what the label wanted. And the news about the new business manager was very interesting. What does a business manager do anyway?

Party time at the Grammys. Go B!

Somebody better call Comcast to get their A**ES over to his house and get the internet connection going. Don’t they understand who he is?????

  5. 5 Joyce Feb 8th, 2008 at 9:38 am

good to see that his “team” has faith in him and hasn’t thrown in the towel…CAN’T WAIT..hopefully the “team” will fork out the payola to get HMW played..

as soon as we hear the song, I will start requesting…….

    THRILLED……..here’s to success

Bullly that second paragraph just about made my eyes water a little. The whole moving in with KJ, painting with his dad, the whole paragraph made me smile:) I couldn’t be any happier for him:D

Of course then I read the third paragraph and - \o/ - HMW does it take to say you want HMW has the next single. As Joyce said above…here’s to success:)

  7. 7 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 10:34 am

And the news about the new business manager was very interesting.

I was wondering about that too.

  8. 8 Bully Feb 8th, 2008 at 10:48 am

*hugs Anne and dances around* Me too, my friend. It was just the news I was needing to hear. Now, I want some FABOO piccies from the Grammy party…and maybe him presenting at the awards show…OOooooo. The thought alone is like– AHHH! :-)

EOTW– hearing how Blake is still so down to earth, yeah. That to me is actually one of his most intriguing attributes. It keeps me looking on as a person, and wishing him so much good luck ahead. I know getting his house, it must make him very proud and happy. Iknow it sounds stupid and simple, but I would really like to hear more about that! Maybe it’s my years talking, and moving experience, I dunno! LOL.
Maybe if we ask nicely, BigD will tell us more about the House, and the area it’s in. If I had to guess I’d say it’s country and has a very big yard with a view from a porch, surrounded by trees. and a walk-out basement. I also guess the house is cedar siding, like brown natural color….while I’m guessing! heh.;-)

Iknow it sounds stupid and simple, but I would really like to hear more about that

Bully it doesn’t. What is funny is I have been waiting for official word about that second single; but the part that touched me the most was reading what he wrote about his “life” in general. Like EOTW he sounded so down to earth just talking about what has been going on his life. I was so caught up in his success with the album, etc. That I didn’t stop to think that his life is a success. I think it was Jenlar who posted something awhile back about that. Anyway…*hugs* Bully back:)

ETA Oops, meant to have that first line in quote’s not bold.

That just made my day. One of the reasons I love B is because he seems so down to earth and grounded and devoted to his friends and family. I have this picture in my head of him and Big D painting and it actually warms my heart.
And KJ moved in? How much fun and creativity is going to come from that house? Love it!

Great to hear official confimation from Blake! Sounds like he’ll be at the Grammy party, too. Don’t forget the live streaming that msn is doing of the red carpet and Clive’s party. :-)

pj– I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited for a Grammy’s before! and heck, who knows what next year’s will have in store, right??
    *squishes the thought*

Black suit, black tie, nice and shiney please. :-)

  14. 14 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

OT but his new default picture on his MS would have been an excellent album cover;)

  15. 15 Crystal J. Feb 8th, 2008 at 12:47 pm

What great news! I am so glad for official Blake word on the next single. Now, we just need to get that baby on the air!

And, it really warms my heart to hear him talking about fixing up the house too, doing the work himself. I had just turned 30 when I bought my first house, and I rememember the excitement (and the work) so well. Of course, the buying process also gave me my first gray hairs.

  16. 16 Crystal J. Feb 8th, 2008 at 12:47 pm

Oops - don’t know why the above msg. posted twice. Can’t delete it from here, so I’m just typing over, lol.

Thanks for posting this new blog from Blake! It’s exciting to hear from him!

It’s also great to see that the label is still supporting him. I was kind of worried they would be throwing the towel soon, after BA didn’t do that well.
Blake is stoked about HMW. I really hope this is the song that does it for him, hopefully the label will push it to the radio stations.
I also hope the song translates well into Top 40 stations and HOT AC. I think it will.

Apparently he is going to be at the Clive Davis party, Grammy night. Hopefully we will get some nice pics and video of him that night..

Crossing fingers everything works out for Blake this time…

  18. 18 EndOfTheWorld Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:03 pm

I had just turned 30 when I bought my first house, and I rememember the excitement (and the work) so well.

Me too Crystal. The actual buying of my first house was very stressful, but once that was done, the fun began. I remember on the actual day I moved in, all my friends helped me. It was so exciting, but so much work. But then everyone left. It was pretty late and I remember just sitting on my steps all by myself in the perfect silence of my new house, and thinking…OMG…I own a house. Such a great feeling!

  19. 19 Pam Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:04 pm

I just read the blog and can’t express how happy I am for Blake not just about the single, but about the house as well. When Kristi posted the blog the other day, about the house hunting and then Blake was talking about the painting and all that work, I had started to feel really sorry for him even before he posted this because right now, I totally get where he is coming from literally! For those of you that know already, I know Crystal, Nic, and even jenlar knows this as well. Back in late November we of course started the renovation of the kitchen with sanding, painting, and going through the process of getting a new floor in the kitchen and dining room along with getting the new cabinets. Of course, our cabinets were installed, but there were problems, and so the cabinet folks had to come back and fix their mistakes. Next came the stone folks who put in the countertops and that is what we are dealing with now. They put the seam right over the dishwasher and the counter tops look uneven on one side. In fact, we almost had to threaten to get a lawyer to get this stuff fixed. Yeah, that bad! lol Just like Blake with the new management, there is a new stone company that will be doing the redo on the countertops but fortunately, this company is local and not out of town and the problem should be fixed this time by SKILLED professionals who will do the job right.

Ok, sorry about the rabbit trail there. lol I never wanted to outright blame the label for what happened with BA but even I wondered if he needed new management myself and if that would help him. Just like most of us here, I know nothing about the music business and so I felt like I really couldn’t insert an opinion one way or the other. I’m just glad he’s getting another chance.

    YAY! :D

  20. 20 star Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:15 pm

    I love Blake’s blogs! :)

Somehow I’m thinking a new business manager doesn’t really have anything to do with promoting his music…? When I first read that I thought it might have something to do with his keeping his finances in order. Anyone???

  21. 21 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm

Star this is what it says about Music Managers over at Wikipedia…

A music manager is hired by a musician or band to help with determining decisions related to career moves, bookings, promotions, business deals, recording contracts, etc.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talent_manager

  22. 22 star Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:27 pm

Yeah but his blog says business manager.

  23. 23 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:30 pm

Star I just noticed that. Oops. This is what Wikipedia says about business manager…

business manager is a person who directs or plans the work of others in order to run a business efficiently.

There is a lot more, but pretty much what you thought, lol.

You can still find it on the site I posted above just click on business manager.

  24. 24 Pam Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:54 pm

    star & Anne,

Here is what Wilki says about business managers as far as musicians are concerned. Anne, this kind of goes back to what star was saying:

In the context of the music industry, a business manager is a representative of musicians and/or recording artists, whose main job is to supervise their business affairs, and the proper handling of their financial matters. The role as it is understood today was largely originated (and the term coined) by Allen Klein, who represented numerous performers through the years, helping them to both invest their incomes wisely and to recover unpaid (or underpaid) royalties and fees.

  25. 25 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Pam, that was the better paragraph to quote than the one I did. LOL But yes pretty much what Star thought it was:)

  26. 26 Pam Feb 8th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

    Anne,

Yeah, it was. LOL Hey, we all make mistakes sometimes. :wink_wp:

I’m thrilled to hear a single has been decided once and for all, but I reallllly hope they don’t wait until March to actually RELEASE to radio! TPTB, Please get it out a little sooner ;),

I wonder if the label was pushing KMN or something. Hell, they might as well trust Blake’s instincts since they were the ones who pushed BA and I personally felt that wasn’t an ideal choice for a first single (maybe a third or fourth single, ya know?).

    Nic,

If you think about what Big D has been telling us and you consider that today is 2/8 and the 29th being 3 weeks away from today, the impact date won’t be till at least March I figure because we don’t know what the official release date for the single is just yet and we will get that eventually I’m sure.

I’m just glad to know that we finally have an answer as to what single #2 is. :)

  29. 29 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 3:49 pm

the impact date won’t be till at least March

Pam that would be my guess too, but I’m hoping that it will start hitting the airwaves in the next couple of weeks. *fingers crossed* that this is a hit for him. It seems even though everyone has their favorites, this is one that everyone likes.

  30. 30 Nic Feb 8th, 2008 at 3:54 pm

    Pam,

yep, I remember how the impact date was rumored to be in March, but so many songs get released even two months before their impact dates. So, you’d think HMW would get released to the airwaves THIS month sometime.

  31. 31 Pam Feb 8th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

Yeah, I see what you are saying since No Air started getting airplay in December. I logged onto Rate The Music’s site yesterday and took the latest survey they had and it was all new music and like star has stated, right now, Leona is being pushed to radio. In fact, Bleeding Love was on that survey and even No Air was on it as well and even though it’s been out for a couple of months, the impact date for it isn’t till this Tuesday. I would hate to see HMW have to compete with either of those songs honestly although I know he will have competition no matter when the impact date is but I do get where you are coming from. :)

  32. 32 Anne Feb 8th, 2008 at 4:49 pm

Yeah, I see what you are saying since No Air started getting airplay in December

I guess once there is an add date for a single if the PD wants to put it on their play list they can. I don’t like that Bleeding Love song. But I’m sure once it is played a million times over, it will grow on me. But gosh I hope not;)

  33. 33 Laura Feb 8th, 2008 at 7:12 pm

OK, that blog was one of the best things EVAR to come home to on a Friday afternoon! :-) YAY for HMW!
