Thanks for bringing over the YouTube links, Kasia. They have tons of behind the scenes available, huh? Neat. The video scares me just a little, itself…I wonder to myself what the heck the guy did to deserve being hounded like that. The people in the behind the scenes said it was good vs evil, and evil wins. I think I prefer the thoughtline that, good intentions fail, and human nature is difficult to rise above. MMm.

The links were good to see, EOTW! The good news from the blog he did is making some positive waves! Nice! I was really happy to see that blog–I am not even going to lie. He said everything just right, too. :-) Asking for his fans to get involved is important. They will, when he asks.

As a sidenote, I am completely jellus that iTunes is sending out e-mails to customers asking them to buy DCook’s music. Good use of info, there.

I’m just jeaulous of the strategy this time around for Season 7…getting singles out while the fans are still hanging around…I’ve noticed on Rickey’s space, that the comments are been dwindling…so this releasing early is working AND releasing a single as opposed to a full CD was smart….oh well let’s move forward and hope this little tour will bring on new converts

Bully I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Jive did a great job getting Jordin’s first single out quick last year…Blake’s was a little too late in my opinion. They really needed to strike quick last year just because of the lack of interest in the season last year. AI fans do move on quick. Again, though there was so many things that should have been done differently with Blake…but too late now. Like you said Bully it is frustrating to see. But I am happy for both of the Davids and dog gone it if Jordin’s songs just don’t grow on you;)

With that, I finially downloaded Selfless and I love it! I really enjoy this side of Blake. Though I also really love the Emotional Waterfall and Jealousy side too. So looking forward to see what will be in store for Blake in the future. And can I just say that I love his default picture on his myspace;D

It is surprising how fast the fans move on, and interest dies almost as soon as the glow from the concert does. They go to a concert, and are satiated. What they are interested in then, is a record to buy– and this year, they were given that(and support) to make it successful.

I personally am glad that TPTB are encouraging the fans, and allowing the records to be successful thru support and “push”. It’s good for the franchise and image, as a whole.

–and yeah, I find I really am liking Jordin’s songs! Who’dve thunk it?

Thank you for everyone for the great feedback! If you haven’t noticed yet, go check it out, ‘Selfless’ seems to be one of the popular tracks on the compilation (which I don’t mind! ;). If you want to make a difference AND of course if you want to get great music, go take a listen, buy tracks, and LEAVE FEEDBACK in the iTunes Store as well!

Take care and go check out Blake when he comes near you!

Also, I have to mention this: If you see a band called Apocalyptica (www.apocalyptica.com) performing near you, I’d highly recommend going to see them. It’s four chellos and drums played by seriously talented musicians… Believe it or nor, it is a rock’n'roll show and it sounds like a mix of heavy metal and classical music, with headbanging and all! Even if you don’t like metal, just for the pure skills these guys have it is worth seeing and hearing, guaranteed to blow your mind! The audience is part metal heads (the band became known doing their own arrangements of early Metallica productions), part raver scene kids, part music teachers and students, all kinds of colourful people. I just saw them in Atlanta a couple of days ago and I’m still in awe.

Thanks for the music recommendations. My husband went to the concert of Apocalyptica in Philly some time ago and he really liked them too. He was also impressed with their music and instrumental skills. I understand they have quest vocalists during their concerts.

Thank you Anne for posting that article. Very interesting read. Label support is so important. I didn’t realize that until I started tracking Blake, reading all the idol forums and all that goes into making a single/record successful. I kind of wish I hadn’t found this all out, because now I am so jaded to the record industry. It is sort of like finding out Santa Claus doesn’t exist! Or maybe a better analogy is finding out that you have to give “payola” to Santa to come to your house! Just takes all the fun out of it. Now when I hear a song on the radio, I just keep thinking “how much money did they spend to make this a hit”?

EOTW– Don’t let the music thing make you jaded! Think instead how maybe labels latch onto artists that have promise to them…and some are lucky enough to hit the right promotion with the right single. Some of these popular people just had the perfect storm is all. It’s like say major league baseball players– not every super talented HS guy can make it, even into the AAA leagues. They say it is the rare one that is truly good enough, and even then, barring injury and any other pitfalls along the way! Spouse says 1 in 10,000 make it. The rest are slogging away, just like small musicians are, just trying to make it. Only very few, become Stars. :-)

update…Kasia and I did a little promotion for Blake on Saturday….it seems quite a lot don’t even know what AI is…amazing…you assume the whole world knows..not true…we tried to hand out flyers but very few takers but we did reach a couple of fans…who knows..we tried..ps Kasia’s two kids are adorable..even they called out..too too cute

I then went eto the university to post flyers..hit what I thought would be the most visible for max output…tried anyway…will be there early Sunday along with kasia and again hand out his promo flyer.

Blake should sell some of his songs on MySpace. I thought I saw that Josiah Leming was doing that and he said he made quite a bit of money? Or to try and sell a few of the songs like Emotional Waterfalls or Love and Torture on iTunes. I don’t know what it takes to get a song put onto iTunes.

That interview yesterday? LOVE! I was reminded all over again just Why it is I like him so much. HMW stripped is Bliss.

Secondly, that Love or Torture song? It needs to be released as a single NOW! I can’t stop playing it! I think they’d title it with the addition of (PLease Don’t Stop!)because of that refrain that gets stuck in your head. :-)

Josiah was probably able to do that because all of the songs were just him. When there is more one person involved in the writing of a song, it gets a little more complicated.

I’m still at the mindset that My Eyes or Julie would be the big sellers for B at this point. I wish those were pushed. And is it just me or does the version of My Eyes sound different than the one that was available when B was on AI?

So I just keep listening to Love or Torture. That is just an awesome song! It has now become my new favorite Blake song. I need to make an MP3 out of it. GEEZ, I wish that would have been his first single!!!!! It would sound great recorded, but also is a great song to perform live. Blake really needs to release this song and get it out there somehow!

I can give you all a little info. Love Torture is one of the produced songs that didn’t get on the label. That means that the other participants have rights. It is also protected and I’m not sure, but B may have to get permission from Arista, or 19 to make it a “record”. Get my drift. I can tell you though…..dig…..dig….I have the studio version in my car. Try to find me…LOL

Yes, I have all the songs. Some even that he didn’t buy. Terrific music. Love Torture is very clean and great. We wanted it on the record and were surprised it wasn’t. Oh well, Blake will write more good music in the future. And hopefully he will produce it himself so he can put what he wants on the record.

I wish I could share what I have, but alas, I can’t. Sorry.

Love is Torture is hot! Damn it Clive, how come that didn’t make it on the album, that shit is the bomb. That would of been a hot single, it still could be if someone will pick it up. Yeah Blake needs to put his music on sale on itunes or something. We need it! LOL…I am bum that the tour got cut short but I totally understand. The playing at the concert is governed by laws that allow the artist to play ANYTHING that they want at venues. They don’t need special permission to play any song at all there.

MS is a different animal. Blake would need permission to post on MS since it isn’t just his song. If the person (or persons) who own it post it on MS themselves and allows others to add it to their page than B could put it on his player as well because that’s how the user agreement works with MS. Unless that happens though, it’s against the law for him to post it.

So, yeah, again his hands are probably tied on that one.

Anne, I couldn’t make out what he is saying, but I expect he said that he will be a new recording artist, hopefully next month as he’s working on a deal with a new recording company. Who knows, he may have said he’s working with a new recording artist…. You know sometimes he speaks in tongues.

Thanks Kasia for a nicer recording of lyrics and sound. It sounded like there were some screaming fans in attendance. Has anyone said if these shows are selling out? And is the other band with them, sorry I can’t remember their name.

OK. I listened to the beginning a few times. Here is what I think he said (don’t blame me if it isn’t though! LOL):

“This is a new song. My album dropped 5-6 months ago, so it is time to get a new album out there. This is gonna be on the next record. Hopefully, who knows, maybe by next month I’ll be another recording artist.”

Then I couldn’t make the rest out.

If he did say the above, then Love or Torture will be on his next album? I sure hope so! Love this version even better. Thanks Kasia! Now I can make an mp3 of the whole song.

I remember when Blake told us about LoT, working with Tedder. I thought it was an odd name for a song from someone like Tedder– but now I get it. heh. I want this thing released as a single, and for Blake(and Ryan, yahh) to make gobs of money on it.

Can I just say right now, I am tickled with how he is handling this Tour, and promo? He is taking his MS following by a loose lead, and getting them involved with headlines and Bulletins…and every time I see one of those, I just get so happy. :-) Smart. If he follows thru with ANY blogs or vLogs as promised? It will be awesome. You can tell even by his comments every day, people are getting engaged!

The nice interviews and promo he’s getting (like Kasia’s ) also make me really proud. The waves from the Tour will last long after the gig itself is over.

Wouldn’t you just love to read an A.I. tell all book from Blake? I wouldn’t doubt one word that he put in there. LOL. He probably wouldn’t want to do it now if he still has a relationship with Simon Fuller, but maybe when the whole Idol thing is dead. It would be a marvelous read I’m sure.

I read the article and know that this is a very honest interview. Sometimes b tends to be too honest, but at least it is something you can count on. There is no question about his emotion and sincere belief.
19 didn’t drop Blake. His contract is coming to an end and his desire is to find someone who will promote him for the musician he is and allows him to perform his music. The only issues with 19 is that it is a huge company and management is stretched. He has a manager now with 19 that he respects and it shows in his interview. He has a huge respect for Simon Fuller and many others that he met and worked with through the idol experience. He was also exposed to many quality performers, producers and musicians and has the greatest respect for those who he’s worked with during the last two years.

That said, he could write a steaming version of the idol experience, but I believe that he is smart enough not to burn bridges, especially those that let him travel from where he was to where he is now. Experience is worth more than any other reward and he truly feels, I believe, that he is reaping those rewards.

I hope that we can all watch him grow in the industry and maintain his artistic integrity and love of music. I expect to see and hear wonderous music, sustaining the audio day dream.

I was a little surprised at his candor in this last interview, but at least we know he is honest! I would not want him to be the kind of person who would write a tell-all…it would go against I think what he is about. He’s paid enough just by being ingenuous.

Bully I agree that I would not want Blake to write a tell all book about AI. It would go against what I think Blake is about too.

I liked the article too. It was interesting for me as it reveals a little more of what was behind the scenes during the production of ADD and the negotiations and compromising that were going on. It also puts into perspective why Blake voiced his opinions about AI experience or record company.

Thanks newduck for the detailed review. As I said before when you reviewed the concert in Harrisburg, I am amazed about the amount of details that you can remember. Were you able to take any pictures during the concert or make videos?

I just read DaisyKary’s recap…and I wish I could say I wouldn’t do something similar for fandom! (Fandom has a way, right?)

I remember reading about the video making process, and someone saying that the artist foots the bill. I had fervently hoped that was not so, because OUCH! It would have been a better thing to turn Cisco loose, I agree. Ah well.

EOTW–the hand puppet video! The BT/SLTW studio fun! Man I loved that thing.It came at a time when we really appreciated the surprise.

This is a few days late, but I’m also going to throw in my absolute love for Love or Torture!! And I know this isn’t the full studio version we’re all craving, but you can hear some of it playing in the background of his Making of ADD documentary, while he’s talking about Ryan Tedder.

And some potentially big news. Is Blake going to sign with Tommy Boy Entertainment?! According to this, B had lunch with the executives of the label while he was in NYC. Looked them up, and they’re about hip hop, dance, electronica. It could be a great thing for him. Maybe this is what he was talking about when he said he might be a recording artist by next month.

Cool that Blake made the E online sightings:D

Tommy Boy Records sounds like it would be a good fit for Blake…like always, fingers crossed that things workout the way Blake would like them to.
