More on “Selfless”

Darude stopped by our comments to answer a question about the lyrics from “Selfless.” This is what he had to say:

Blake and I wrote them together, though they’re probably 90% his. The initial idea (of something everyone can do to help etc, you know, going with the Dance4Life theme) and some ideas were by me, and this is how it turned out when we vibed it out together. I’m glad you guys like it, I’m so happy I got to do it with Blake and that we got to do some good together! Go check out the whole compilation, there are great tracks there, and it’s a great cause!

Ville/Darude

Thanks, Darude!

Thanks for posting those, Kasia. :) I’m loving all the videos from Philly.

An article on Blake’s show tonight at the Jewish Mother in Virginia Beach. He says Chris Richardson might make a special appearance and maybe they’ll do something together!

Nice article, Nikki! Very positive message in there. :-)
I can’t even begin to imagine what it must be like to be famous, to have to fight a public opinion or whatever. I think to keep one’s sense of self and creativity, you’d have to put a bubble between yourself and the world. He has to keep creating for creating’s sake.

All the comments about how “hot” he is, it’s no wonder he’s taken to wearing his False Idols t-shirts again. Just keep being yourself, Blake. Atta boy.

    Thanks Nikki.

Check Panda Consiracy myspace. A new track called “Disco Stu” feat with Blake Lewis. It is catchy.

Nikki thanks for posting the article.

So this was posted over at the IDF boards…

“Chris and Blake apparently did Human and WG2L tonight!”

Anyone heard anything about this yet?

Here is a great review of Blake’s show in VA…

    http://hamptonroads.com/2008/10/american-idol-contestant-lewis-shines-jewish-mother

Fans were in his corner, but skeptics had reason to think this was not going to go well. His opening band was just so-so, after all. But, boy were the skeptics wrong!

Lewis showed moxy right away, opening his set with a funk and ska-influenced groove constructed by his band, the ADD. As soon as he opened his mouth, Lewis – wearing a purple shirt, white tie and matching grey pants and vest – showed he’s the real deal, wailing powerfully. He’s an energetic, joyous performer and has the kind of “magic” necessary to transfix a standing room only club crowd.

And my favorite from the review…

Reality show contestants you can dismiss, but hard work and talent cannot be voted away.

Way to finish up your tour Blake:D

Thanks Anne! What a fantastic review! Nothing we didn’t already know though. :wub_tb:

does anyone know the words to L or T ?????????

does anyone know the words to L or T ?????????

    “PLEASE DON’T STOP!” heh! ;-)

Anne, I LOVED that article. I agree, it should be posted on Blake’s MS, as sort of a momento from the trip, and testimony to his reception out-there. That whole paragraph you quoted first I loved. Respect tastes good, I hope he enjoys it.

Newduck– I shared the Highlights vid with Spouse you posted, with the instrumental solos(including KJs),and he was impressed. He kept saying, “Why didn’t we see anything like this from him before??” So, maybe Spouse can be won over after all, eh?! Live experience maybe will help those of us with still-reluctant family and friends!

(It won’t do anything for the jellus, but then, have you SEEN the pictures to come out the recent Tour stops??)

Yea Chris and Blake did WYG2L and Human, and a little bit of improv. Much fun!

and just to say I really really am enjoying Emotional Waterfalls with the band, it’s just so powerful, and Blake’s voice is really on point!

  12. 162 Kasia Oct 18th, 2008 at 11:54 am

I did like this article a lot. Thanks for bringing it here Anne.

Thanks Heather for the pics and review. It does bring great memories. It seems like all people who saw Blake and the band alive agree, they ROCK.

    Still no new thread? :glurps_tb:

  14. 164 EndOfTheWorld Oct 18th, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Thanks to everyone for all the great videos from the whole tour. They were really magnificent and gave me the chance to see it like I was actually there. Without them, I would have just been sitting for the whole couple of weeks sulking.

Thanks for that article Ann. Blake really did do a great tour. I think it was just the right amount of singing and beatboxing. I lean more toward the singing, so I appreciated that. The band was also outstanding. Hopefully, the tour was a success overall, and Blake and ADD will get to tour more.

    Still no new thread?

Does anyone know if we still have mods? Maybe we have been abandoned! Maybe we are all on our own now! Maybe this thread will just keep going until we get 1000 posts!

Hello? Anybody? Buelher? (ok, that last Buehler reference might not make sense to anybody that didn’t see the movie Ferris Buehler’s Day Off) :laugh_tb:

  15. 165 Anne Oct 18th, 2008 at 6:13 pm

    Buelher?

LOL EOTW…I was wondering if they have jumped ship or something;)

Like EOTW, thanks to everyone for posting the video’s from the tour. Loved them all.

  16. 166 Bully Oct 18th, 2008 at 7:43 pm

Heh! “Buelher?….Buelher?….” LOL You guys tickle me! :-D

I am totally with you on the Tour stuff, EOTW. Hearing all the vids and recaps, it sure was better than sulking knowing he was out-there and not being able to hear. YouTube is such a modern-day blessing!!
    *sigh* So much yummyness.

When the Tour got shortened, I didn’t pout or anything, because I know he was doing the best he could with what he had at hand. I have faith that my time will come. He’s going to get everywhere at some point right? Region at a time… I am just very happy to get to share in the excitement, and hear from our friends that have been lucky enough to go. For some it is their first time to meet Blake, and I know how great that has to be.

Maybe I’ll get to see him somewhere random as he makes his way home. Wouldn;t that be an awesome surprise?? He has to cross the midwest somehow!

  17. 167 newduck Oct 18th, 2008 at 11:17 pm

They are in shock from all the B goodies we’ve had the last two weeks, that’s all. They are currently getting oxygen treatment at their local hospitals and will back on the job soon. ….well that’s my take on it anyway.

Okay - Monday is my lucky day…doing my due diligence calling in to xm radio (1-866-533-2020) hint hint. I was picked up by Priestly…He said he recognized that voice and I said yea I use to call in and but somehow today my call was picked…well heresay, I told him about Blake and his tour and I said the record doesn’t do him justice because it is so much better “live” especially Break ANotha…we’re talking and I detailed how the base guitar starts and the drums beating and then the Johnny’s guitar and they band built up such a momentum and peaked…fabulous I said it was ‘better than sex’ I thought he fell off the chair…after catching his breath, he said “you’re my kind of gal” I said I’m old enough to be your mother…started laughing…but again, recapped about how the radio is operated like corporate America…”you pay to play” He responded “right on”…I also told him to check out YouTube and listened to a new song which might be release Love or Torture…just the title along got his interest..but we talked about creativity, artistry and stage presence…so after 20 MINUTES (he put me hold twice)…I also noted the great reviews he received. Priestly said he would pass the word and make an effort, but we, the fans, must too make an effort to call in…SOOOOOO call in and just maybe when Blakes re-signs with an agent, they will back him up and resume air time but until then, we all have to make an effort

Okay here’s another thought I will toss out…

WIll L or T be radio friendly????

I listented to the count downs this weekend of the past “hits” and 99% of the “hits” were sappy songs…will L or T be too electonic base and not enough sugary tune? After hearing BA live, this song did not play well on air so I’m just thinking, will or T be another BA? This is not a knock down but just want some rehashing and thought process of just what might be the next song released AND it has to be a “Hit” as well as radio friendly.
