More Album News

From americanidol.com:

Season 6 runner-up Blake Lewis will release his debut album Audio Day Dream through 19 Recordings/Arista Records on November 27, 2007. The beat boxing American Idol alumnus from Bothell, Washington is currently in the studio working on A.D.D.

In line with his unique performances from this past season, Blake will be working with a diversity of producers on the album, including Sam Hollander & Sluggo (Gym Class Heroes, Boys Against Girls), JR Rotem (50 Cent, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Sean Kingston), Ryan Tedder (V. CENTRAL TO THE PROJECT), David Hodges (Evanescence), BT, Sean Hurley (Robin Thicke), and Mike Elizondo (Maroon 5, Eminem).

A couple of new names have been thrown into the mix this time! David Hodges, formerly of Evanescence, has written for/with other Idols including Kelly Clarkson (“Because Of You”; “Addicted”) and Chris Daughtry (”What About Now”). Ballads seem to be his specialty, so could his collaboration with Blake result in something pretty and Keanesque?

The other new name is Sean Hurley. According to Wikipedia, Hurley co-wrote Robin Thicke’s “Lost Without U.” He’s also the bassist for the band Vertical Horizon.

One other interesting thing - the article notes Ryan Tedder as V. CENTRAL TO THE PROJECT. What do you think that means? Could Ryan possibly be the executive producer? Discuss.

And don’t forget, you’ll find a summary of all the album news we’ve collected so far on our special Album News tab!

Thanks, Star! Very interesting. He’s really working with some pretty interesting peeps. I’m just so anxious for his album.

Sounds like Ryan Tedder is majorly involved, so he could be the executive producer. I heard “Apologize” on the radio again today! Woot! :)

  2. 2 Michelle Sep 30th, 2007 at 3:20 pm

LOL at Ryan being V. CENTRAL. I hope he is the overall producer or whatever; in any case I’m glad he has a big role cause I have a good feeling about him.

    Pretty ballad YES PLEASE!!!

  3. 3 Sarah Sep 30th, 2007 at 3:21 pm

“Apologize” is currently all over the radio in Orlando. I grin every time I hear it. I heart that song.

I’m also curious about just how Ryan Tedder is contributing to the album. The next couple months could end up being pretty interesting as we (hopefully) find out more and more info.

Going to work on the Manchester recap now, since all that is currently on my tv is bad football (why, pray tell, despite the obvious reason of my close proximity to Miami, is my local CBS station playing the Miami/Oakland game?). I’m patiently awaiting the Colts/Broncos game… at least TRYING to be patient. Hee!

I love how they just abbreviated VERY as V. What, did Bridget Jones write this?

  5. 5 pj Sep 30th, 2007 at 3:39 pm

    LOL, Star. Perhaps Roger?

  6. 6 Nikki Sep 30th, 2007 at 3:58 pm

Hi. I just want to thank you gals (Star, Sarah, and PJ) for always getting us the Blake scoop! I know that I can always find great information here. I heart teamplaid!

“Hello to all…..Let’s see…..Miami is where I am these days working with a great friend and producer, Ill Factor! Lets just say the road has many turns, and for me hopefully they will smooth out soon! In the process of making music that I love, and hopefully one day you will grow to love! Thank You for the continued support and encouragment ….Make sure you listen out for Blake Lewis’ album coming soon!”

CRich put out this bulletin on myspace today. I love how he gives Blake’s album a shout out.

  8. 8 Pam Sep 30th, 2007 at 4:06 pm

It didn’t take most of long to figure out that V. meant very. I just can’t understand why they abbreviated it in the first place. LOL

  9. 9 Pam Sep 30th, 2007 at 4:08 pm

awww that’s so sweet of Chris.

  10. 10 Julie Sep 30th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

Hahaha at very being abbreviated. Its so exciting that B is gonna be working with all these big names!

Yay for CRich giving B’s album a shout out. I bet he’ll be first in line for it. :)

I listened to some of David Hodges’ music. It’s nice. A.D.D. sounds like it’s going to be all kinds of wonderful no matter what’s on it. Yes, please, can we have at least one track of pretty Blake ballad?

  12. 12 DJ Sep 30th, 2007 at 6:35 pm

This is all great news, all the different producers, writers, etc working with our Blake. I predict that his album and the vid he is making will blow everyone away. Please someone tell me where I can here “Apologize”

  13. 13 ld Sep 30th, 2007 at 6:50 pm

You can hear Apologize on youtube. Blake did mention that he really enjoyed working with Ryan Tedder. Can’t wait for A.D.D.

  14. 14 star Sep 30th, 2007 at 6:54 pm

Yeah, you can find it on YouTube as ld said, or you can listen to it on OneRepublic’s myspace. The remix is the version that’s currently getting major airplay.

    Thanks, Nikki! :)

Off topic, but a friend sent me this vid of Kanye West on SNL. I was at a concert last night and didn’t catch it, but it’s pretty funny.

That’s a lot of people! I really do hope one day, after he’s an established big shot, he’ll work with DJ Shadow. I would melt…and then die a happy girl.

  17. 17 greeneyesxo Sep 30th, 2007 at 7:26 pm

Hey guys! Just got back from the One Republic show in Spring Valley, NY where I overheard Ryan saying he was in Seattle yesterday! That could only mean one thing. =P

  18. 18 pj Sep 30th, 2007 at 7:29 pm

Oooh, greeneyesxo! Good for you! How was the show?

    Thanks for the scoop!

  19. 19 star Sep 30th, 2007 at 7:36 pm

    Ooh greeneyesxo, that’s exciting!

midge, it *is* a lot of people. Of course, he did tell MJ he’s worked on 25-30 songs…so some of these collaborations may not make the final cut for the album. We shall see!

pj, thanks for the link to the Kanye SNL video, it was hilarious! The scary thing is, his tantrums are probably exactly like that! I missed that last night but I did catch the Digital Short with two very special guests. ;)

I am so excited about Blake’s album! The single has to come out now!
Still have to wait till October 31st though, I am waiting patiently.

All these HOT producers can just mean that Audio Day Dream is going to rock!

  21. 21 pj Sep 30th, 2007 at 7:51 pm

    LOL, Star! Thanks! Hee. :)

ETA: Oh, and the concert I went to last night was Michael Franti and Spearhead. Awesome show, but OMG! I don’t smoke pot, but I think I got a contact high. Thank goodness I’m not job hunting!

  22. 22 Jacqui Sep 30th, 2007 at 9:15 pm

Hey guys! Just got back from the One Republic show in Spring Valley, NY where I overheard Ryan saying he was in Seattle yesterday! That could only mean one thing. =P

AHH! Lucky! I was supposed to go, but I got stuck in traffic on the way home from Rochester and didnt get home until 45 minutes ago! I am jealous!

All these great names could only mean a great album. No doubts in my mind whatsoever.

  23. 23 Bully Sep 30th, 2007 at 10:04 pm

Woo-Hoo! I love hearing about Ryan Tedder being in Seattle! Working with our Boy, getting that album ready to send! yay!!

The version of “Apologise” is the one that is on Timbaland’s album. I like the simpler, piano version that OneRepublic is releasing, and that is on YouTube, but hey, I’ll take the Timbaland one getting airplay. (when One Republic puts out their album, the simpler version is supposed to be on it)

  24. 24 Christina Oct 1st, 2007 at 9:42 am

So when is OneRepublic’s album due out?! I love their songs and would love to hear the cd!

  25. 25 greeneyesxo Oct 1st, 2007 at 10:51 am

The OneRepublic show was beyond amazing. They really are one of my favorite bands… EVER. The emotion in their music is striking and when you see them perform, you are totally drawn in. (I get goosebumps!!) They’re so passionate and really down to earth as well (I was lucky enough to get to talk to the whole band in NYC last week, and Ryan at Spring Valley last night). Also, for the record, Ryan is effing hilarious.

All of my videos (which came out GREAT, btw. So clear…) will be on Youtube. I’ll post them later!)

However, I felt kind of bad for them since MAYBE 50 people were there… IF that. This did make for a very intimate show; we were front row and Ryan brought up how he knew some of us were at the Canal Room show and POINTED AT US. Needless to say, I fangirled for a good 10 minutes after that. =P

So to expand a bit on the Seattle thing, I had heard him say to some other girls and the security that he was tired because he had just come back from Seattle and that he was there all day Saturday. Guys, YOU KNOW he was with Blake, come on. =) I can’t wait to hear their song(s).

  26. 26 Bully Oct 1st, 2007 at 11:28 am

Wow–as popular as they are, and only 50 people at the show? Wierd. Was there enough promo for it? Seems like people went NUTZ for them, after that SYTYCD gig…I hope they know that, at least. People are liking them.
Speaking of which, its really great to hear about his shout-out for you! and that he was really so nice, and funny! Yay! I love it, when people really are as nice as they seem, not just TV magic. I think he could be a good friend for B’s future.

  27. 27 Cam Oct 1st, 2007 at 12:48 pm

    Ryan is effing hilarious.

Now we know why Blake really gets along with him!

  28. 28 greeneyesxo Oct 1st, 2007 at 1:03 pm

I dont think there was enough promo for it AT ALL. The date was added to THEIR myspace (where I heard about it) only 3 days before the show. (Ryan even said it was really random… lol) Also, z100 was indeed there, but I heard nothing about it on the station. Also, during 1R’s set, Carolina Bermudez looked really bored and seemed bothered to be there. Just thought I’d point that out. I don’t know WHY, because 1R is amazing. =P

Anyway, yes Ryan is hilarious, but in a different way than Blake. Ryan has more of a dry, sarcastic sense of humor and Blake is more outgoing and crazy, obv. But I can TOTALLY see how they’d get along. My guess is that they play off each other very well… I’m POSITIVE the track(s) they work on together will be hits.

  29. 29 star Oct 1st, 2007 at 1:06 pm

Wow, only 50 people showed up to see them? Aww. Well, one thing I’ve noticed that kind of sucks is that whenever our local station plays “Apologize” they say Timbaland is the artist without mentioning OneRepublic at all. Is it like that elsewhere? Anyway, I heard that they just shot a new video for the song, so hopefully that will help give 1R more recognition for it instead of Timbaland.

Thanks for the Ryan scoop greeneyes! And to whoever asked about when 1R’s album will be out, last I heard was December…I think.

  30. 30 Michelle Oct 1st, 2007 at 1:16 pm

greeneyes thx for the details! ADD is really shaping up to be something so far :)

  31. 31 Anne Oct 1st, 2007 at 1:49 pm

“Apologize” they say Timbaland is the artist without mentioning OneRepublic at all. Is it like that elsewhere?

Star the first time I heard the song here; FL, they said it was OneRepublic and Timbaland…now they just say Timbaland.

  32. 32 Maddy Oct 1st, 2007 at 7:32 pm

I don’t see why they credit Timbaland more so than OneRepublic. Correct me if i’m wrong but..doesn’t Timbaland only add a different beat and some “Yeah”’s in the background?
Yet OneRepublic sings the vocals and such..
    ..hmm, what’s up with that?

  33. 33 Lisa Oct 1st, 2007 at 7:49 pm

“Apologize” is getting huge airplay and the reason a lot of stations are playing it is probably because of the name Timbaland. As far as airplay goes anything he touches turns to gold. Interscope may have felt it was better to use his name as a hook. It will probably pay off for One Republic when they release their own CD. On Mediabase where they track airplay the song is listed as One Republic/Timbaland. That’s not bad since Tim’s other songs have his name then “featuring..” in the title.

Cam posted this info that she found from BT’s message board over @ TWOP:

BT made a quick stop in the BTmusic message board and let us know that very soon we’ll have some HUGE software news to digest. The single from his upcoming album will drop at Winter Music Conference. And lately he’s been busy with Blake Lewis in the studio working on a few tracks. TBU is slated for a theatrical release later this fall. And BT is also working on two upcoming movies, a couple of secret projects, and still finds time for weekend shows! (this is a busy busy man)
