Here’s My Hello is still my favorite, but I love 1000 miles, I Got U, End of The World, How Many Words and Without You.

Man, I really hope this album does very well, it has lots of potential and we’ve only listened to 30 minute clips!
Can’t wait to listen to the whole thing.

PS: The intro and outro are brilliant! Love them.

It’s hard to tell of course from little clips but I can tell there’s alot of interesting things going on which is great! “Watcha Got 2 Lose” and “She’s Makin Me Lose It” are my two new favorites. They rock! I thought I’d hear ALOT more beatboxing, but maybe he wants to prove there’s more to him. I’m also hearing a much more commercial sound than I thought I’d hear but that’s not so bad I guess. Anyway,it’s hard to judge from just clips so I’ll stop. I’m so happy he got to make the record he wanted! Can’t wait for Tuesday!!!

I have to listen to the song clips more carefully again, but “Here’s My Hello” is also still my favorite. ;) Hopefully the record label considers it as one of his singles since it’s getting such a strong reception from his fanbase. It reminds me of the 80s electro-new wave bands…

But I have to say - End of the World really caught my attention.

sounds good so far :D i can tell that they’ll improve immensely once we hear better quality versions, all the layers and shib can come out at you.

Oh shit yeah, Blake was channeling his inner Prince on “She’s Making Me Lose It”!! Hee! I thought that the second I heard it.

I thought “Here’s My Hello” was a good candidate for the Sting meets Neverending Story song, what do you think?

HMH is still my favorite as is KMK. Surrender at the beginning reminded of OMD’s “If You Leave”. Blake was right about the 80’s vibe. Alot of the songs sounded like they could have been on the Pretty in Pink soundtrack. Which is the kinda of music that I love.
I’m very excited to hear the whole CD.

ETA After listening again, Blake’s singing really remindes me of the lead singer from New Order and OMD.

star, I was thinking the same thing when I heard the snippets. I didn’t want to make judgments based on 30 secs of a song… But yeah, I was feeling the same as you. Gotta say tho, most often than not when I listen to snippets of songs on iTunes, I don’t like what I’m hearing…. And most often than not, I end up really liking the whole song. So there’s hope! :)

I’m going to guess 1000 Miles is the Sting/Neverending Story track. Now someone go ask!

In case you missed my total squee-fest yesterday-cum-meltdown, Blake is like coming to Nashville TOMORROW. I feel like I’m 12, trying to call in and win tickets!:-P However, I am getting very good at two-phone speed dialing. My daughter put Blakeys pic up on the cell, so I can remind myself WHY in God’s name I am doing what I am. heh.

Of the listens I’ve had, I think WYGTL is catchy! I of course really liked KMN, but I haven’t heard Lupe’s addition yet. I wasn’t wild about the intros we heard yesterday, but it is hard to tell, from a small clip.

Man, he definitely wasn’t kidding when he said it was 80’s influenced. I LOVE it ALL.
As an album as a whole, it sounds like an amazing debut album.
The majority of the songs I heart them. Some of them, I think I need to listen to the entire track, I like them already, but to love them, I need to listen to it in its entirety.

I agree with shelly, and think 1,000 miles is the/a possible Neverending Story one. I like it!! :-D Possibly, my fav.

I also like alot End of the World, but I’ll be curious to hear the rest of it.

Some of the electronic synthy stuff is going to have to grow on me, but after a couple-three listens, they really seem to. I like!
–and HMH is very catchy. I can see why peoples are liking it.

Again, there is just nothing bad on this set of clips. I hope the rest sounds as good. I hate to have such high expectations for anything and usually try to downplay things like this to avoid disappointment. But how can I not have high expectations for this CD?!

That’s what I thought since the first time I heard that song. It’s really catchy and mainstream, perfect for the radio. I really think that song will be a HIT.

One of my friends, who enjoyed Blake on Idol but isn’t a total fangirl like we are (lol), is actually disappointed in the song clips :(. She said it’s too POP for her tastes, but she’s going to buy the CD anyway. I told her to give it a try and wait until she hears the FULL length versions of the songs. I think she was expecting more rock or weird techno, or something.

Anyway, the one song she DID love was “Here’s My Hello” and said it should have been the first single. It seems like this song is getting some of the best feedback so I surely hope the record label considers it as a single!

Actually Nic, I was sorta expecting the same thing, I thought there was going to be at least a few heavy Electronic/Jazz type of songs. I thought there could be a Bjork/Imogean Heap type of deal. I am definetly not saying I am not thrilled with the album, I am, especially for a Debut album. I just thought it would be less Pop-ish.

I think if Blake called ALL the shots, there would have been a few REALLY funky experimental electronic songs on his CD. I was pretty bummed that SLTW didn’t make the cut :(((. LOL, yeah, I think if he did call all the shots. His album would be have a Parental Advisory sticker on it.
LMAO, whack ass techno? LOL, Blakes old stuff wasnt techno, it was electro. But I agree, its not main stream at all.

BUT I STILL THINK ITS A CRAZY, SICK ASS ALBUM! And I am glad it is fairly mainstream, it gets more people to listen to him.

well, whack ass techno-electro then ;). Some of his pre-Idol songs kinda resembled trance-rave type music to me. The electro you hear on the Top 40 radio is much more POP than what Blakey was doing, so I know why TPTB steered him in this direction but I still wish he could have put one REALLY electro-techno song on there besides his intro and outro. Maybe some of the other interludes are like that too….

I also like “She’s Makin’ me Lose It” much better after hearing both the B & Noble and Wal-Mart song clips, very M5 pop-rock sound. I do wonder how our perceptions of these songs will be once we hear a FULL-LENGTH version of each song? Like, will any of our favorites change or not….

Probably is it the release day before?
