There are couple of HMW promo cds for sale on eBay. So, I guess that means it’s already been sent to the radio stations, right?

Wow, I checked there yesterday (or the day before) and there weren’t any for sale. Curious. I hope that we will start to see some more spins for this song now.

ETA: Disagreeing is fine, but blatantly making digs at others is not, especially if you try to hide your identity by making up fake names each time you post. Yes, we can see IP addresses. Making up fake emails doesn’t change that.

At smaller college stations the music director(s) receive the CDs and then put them on the shelves as soon as they get them. They’re fair game to play as soon as they’re there. Have the spins been at college stations? If so, I’d say that the CD is already to the music directors. Whether they’re still at the stations is another story.

Dishonest music directors at college stations take the CDs that they want and keep them or sell them. This includes the ones that are sent for listener giveaways *and* the copies that they are supposed to play on the air. We had a *big* problem with that at my station, and would find our promo copies at the used DVD store that was walking distance from the college. A CD like Blake’s, that could easily turn some fangirl cash on ebay, may just be too tempting to pass up. And yes, I speak from experience. In addition to being a DJ, I was hired by the Director of Student Affairs to check in all of the new music (open the envelopes & boxes… FUN!!!) because the music directors were walking away with all of our CDs.

I would assume that it’s different at the big stations, because they send them lots of copies for giveaways and for the DJs to take home. If the DHs have their own copies then they’re much more likely to listen to the CD, like it, and play it. Of course, that implies that a case of ADDs was actually shipped to each station. The way the rest of the promotion went I wouldn’t doubt if the label reps who hawk this stuff didn’t even bother sending them and put a few of them on ebay themselves.
