HMW #21 on Billboard’s Dance Charts + Massive Attack

Congrats to Blake on his club play! He’s reached #21 with “How Many Words” on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Party Play Chart! Anyone know which remix, or is it a combination of any of them that get played? It’s been a few years since I’ve set foot in a dance club. :-)

I need to catch up on all the comments, but I do want to send a shout out to the posters who have stuck with us and Blake all this time. I really haven’t had much to say lately, but I do want to thank all y’all! I’m really looking forward to the next chapter of Blake’s career. Since he mentioned his new album will be a cross between Massive Attack and Zero 7 (need to investigate this one), just know that I double heart Massive Attack’s album “Blue Lines.”

This song from that album has always struck me as a bit more R&B throwback than traditional trip-hop, but I’m gonna feature it because it reminds me of summer and I love the message. Too bad the vid itself is a still advert for Vegas. LOL.

That was my question also pj.

It’s been a few years since I’ve set foot in a dance club. :-)

It had been a few years for me also until last night…friends birthday, anyway went to a club and one of the songs played was HMW remix. I’m not sure which one, but it was exciting to hear.

I do not post as often either, but I so enjoy coming here to catch up and see all that is going on. I do look forward to this next chapter in Blake’s career and appreciate very much that you, sarah and star still keep this site up and running:) So thanks!

Thanks pj for posting the video. I also have to learn a little more about the sound that this new album might have. But if it going to have some jazzy beats, I know I will love it.

And thank you and the other girls for having this site. This is “my home” for getting Blake’s news. I hope it will be running for a long time.

Congrats Blake! Hmm….maybe I need to get out one of these nights and “shake my bootie to some electro Brake”. :D

And yes, thanks to all of the regular bloggers and the mods for providing such a great site for all things Blake.

Hey pj! The remix that was doing well on the charts was the Dave Aude brand, I believe. I liked his versions alot, more “Neverending Story” sound to it I guess. :-P heh.

I too am looking forward to this new branch of Blake’s career. Thanks for posting the Massive Attack vid, because I have no clue about these. It has a cool sort of David Bowie vibe, no? I kinda like it.

Thanks for all TeamPlaid does for us, giving us a safe happy place to come and share. *hugs*

Finally! Something from the Red White and Boom. 1000 miles.

He sounds really great and the audience really seemed to like it!

Really off-topic, but did anyone see Wall-E this weekend? Awesome movie. Those people at Pixar are such geniuses. What artists they are. I loved it so much.

I just caught this. Massive Attack and Zero 7? I think I’m gonna love this. Blue Lines has always been a fave of mine too. If you haven’t chakced them out already, Zero 7 sings In The Waiting Line from Garden State. The party scene when Braff takes the E.

I was really happy when I heard he wanted to make a trip hop album. I wouldn’t mind some Pre-Millenium Tension era Tricky influence too.

EOTW….Thanks for that!! Sounded good! Did anyone go to KC? I sure do wish Blake would sing to the Fans a little more…correct me if I am wrong but it sure does seem like he is messing around with those darn loop pedals a lot. Spends to much time looking at the ground! They keep him stuck in one place all the time and eye contact with the fans will sell a lot more records. He can also dance but we don’t see that anymore either! Boy, I sure do sound critical. Sorry, I am a big fan….have bought about 8 copies of ADD and love it. This 1000 Miles is one of my favs. Wouldn’t it make a great commercial for a cell phone carrier??? I am just disappointed that Blake has clearly decided he is going to do it his way….???
I guess as long as he is happy I sould be too. I just wanted more for him! I will always be a fan and will continue to support him and wish him the best!! I know he says he wants us to like him for his music….sorry but I like him for who I think he is…and then his music. :)

    DJ,

I think I understand what you are are referring too. But I have to say that there is a difference when Blake was performing in a large venue versus a smaller one. The other thing to keep in mind is that he is sharing the stage with other performers (different musical genre) during those radio shows so the audience includes fans of other musicians. Reaction from audience is likely not the same if he was the solo act.

I have seen Blake 3 times, once in a large venue and twice in smaller intimate venues. By far, the performances in smaller places were my favorite ones. In my opinion, Blake really shines and shows off his talents as a musician and a performer when he can connect with audience on a more personal level, although he sounded really great in the video that EOTW posted. It is probably a matter of preference. Personally, I prefer the spontaneous interactions with the audience that he has, his improvisation while on the stage, and impromptu performances, to large overrehearsed shows. I think in those smaller places he utilizes to the fullest his other talents such as comedy or improv skills.

In Canal Room he performed about 8 songs and that combination was just perfect. I did not get the impression that he was taking away time from the show or songs by using loop pedals. They were part of his act.
