Am I the only one thats excited about the thought of a Cake tour?

    no, julie, you’re not. :-)

while i hear everything most of you are saying with regard to the boys needing to establish themselves beyond AI, i think blake’s album will decide that, not his choice of tourmate. i am also skeptical that the tour will happen, but i would be happy if it did. they enjoy each other’s company, and they bring out the best in each other.

*waits for pj & Sarah to chime in and say they’d love a Cake tour* :)

  3. 53 Julie Aug 29th, 2007 at 11:59 pm

I agree that B’s album will decide his success more than a tourmate..and I know his fanbase, and I think we’re loyal enough that we’ll make him a huge success no matter if C Rich is there by his side on tour or not. :)

  4. 54 pj Aug 30th, 2007 at 1:06 am

Cake tour? I hate to use that term, but I’d be there in a NY minute!!!

Love me some Roundhead with sparkly eyes. Love me some Blake even more! :) Combined? Awesome!

We gotta throw in a cameo from Sanjaya. He is love. :-P

  5. 55 Laura Aug 30th, 2007 at 1:59 am

Check it out…Blake eating pizza with Cisco! (Imagine that…pizza, what was that about fast food again?)

  6. 56 Memo Aug 30th, 2007 at 2:16 am

love blake but not chris dont know why but just not impressed by him!!!!

  7. 57 Laura Aug 30th, 2007 at 3:16 am

Here’s the first half of Blake signing to go along with the vid I posted a couple messages above this…

Holy titties, this man that we call Blake or Bshorty - he’s SO HOT! *fans self*

Good grief! The screams that man has to tolerate every night when he signs! He’s definitely much more patient and nice than I would be! lol…He does kinda raise his eyebrows a couple of times tho, as if to say, “Good LORD, can somebody shut these kids up?!”

I think this is the best lit and closest aftershow vid that I’ve seen…

ETA: I could stay up all night long and watch this vid w/ the volume on mute over and over again. Bshorty is just so freakin shibby in this vid! *goes back to watching vid*…just one more time!

  8. 58 maracaibo Aug 30th, 2007 at 10:17 am

I know! THanks so much for that vid! Blake looks so HOT. Wow listen those screams! It’s so funny how Blake just kind of raises his eyebrows like why are these girls screaming for me. Well B-shorty I guess you will just have to get used to this OK. Heh.
Did I mention already he looks super Hot in this video! Sigh, I wish I could meet him. *drools* *watching video again*

  9. 59 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 10:25 am

Thanks for posting that video Laura…good lord the screaming. The look on his face, I really don’t think he gets it. Back to the interview where he says, “I’m just a guy who sings.” Though if his album does as well as I think it will(or hope it does), he better get used to this. His fan base will be much bigger than what he is experiencing right now:) And can I just say OMG but he is cute:O

  10. 60 Pam Aug 30th, 2007 at 10:58 am

I’ve seen both of those vids this morning and I must say I loved the way he raised his eyebrows. hee! As far as the screaming, I felt like saying put a lid on it myself. I know he’ll have to get used to this attention more so post tour but that lady with the camera in his face, I mean come on now! I think he was ok with it the first couple of minutes and didn’t mind playing along, but once he told her he felt creepy about it, that’s when she should have gotten the hint and turned it off IMO. I can see where some of the fandom might make it feel suffocating to him at times.

  11. 61 Bully Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:00 am

He and Cisco are SUCH BOYS. Like, for real… just like any other young guys we know, munching on their pizza! LOL. That is quite humanizing, for me.
He might be a good looking talent son-of-a-gun, but he is still just a guy! heh. (Great lighting in this vid, for sure.)

  12. 62 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:05 am

Here is a the B and CRich duet from NJ

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MJHjSbDW2Y

During the who side his louder B is too cute…telling the audience,”Everyone listen to me-be very loud.”

It is a little far away, but still good.

Pam, what video are you talking about? When did he say he felt creepy about it? The screaming was so loud I couldn’t hear what he was saying.

  13. 63 Pam Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:16 am

what video are you talking about? When did he say he felt creepy about it? The screaming was so loud I couldn’t hear what he was saying.

Oh, Sorry Anne, just in case you haven’t seen it. LOL

It’s a vid from Tuesday right before the show.

He doesn’t seem to like too many people swarming around him like he’s being suffocated. This may be a different one from the one you are talking about. LOL You’ll see what I mean when you watch it. He is a good sport in it though.

  14. 64 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:27 am

    Pam,

Have not seen that one. That made me uncomfortable there at the end. She should have stopped taping after he signed her poster. IMO. I think he was a very good sport about the whole thing, but man I don’t like being followed around with a video camera. I was just at a wedding a couple of weeks ago, and you know how they ask you to say something to the bride and groom? So I did, but they kept taping and I didn’t not like that. And that was with people I knew! So my hat is off to him for keeping his cool.

By the way, have there been any reviews out about this show?

  15. 65 Pam Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:34 am

So my hat is off to him for keeping his cool.

Ditto! Sorry about that, I figured by your reaction to my comment that you hadn’t see it. lol I totally agree with everything you said there.

Have not seen that one. That made me uncomfortable there at the end. She should have stopped taping after he signed her poster.

That’s exactly what I thought. She got the eye candy and the signed poster what more did she need. :wink_wp: There were other fans there that deserved his attention just as much if not more.

  16. 66 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 11:41 am

There were other fans there that deserved his attention just as much if not more.

That is what I was thinking. She got a LOT of Blake time, but she couldn’t let it go. I’m sure she was caught up in the moment and all, but you could tell he was starting to get pretty uncomfortable with the whole thing.

  17. 67 Pam Aug 30th, 2007 at 12:00 pm

he was starting to get pretty uncomfortable with the whole thing.

    Anne,

    It was quite obvious.

  18. 68 chatforblake Aug 30th, 2007 at 1:17 pm

There were other fans there that deserved his attention just as much if not more.

That is what I was thinking. She got a LOT of Blake time, but she couldn’t let it go. I’m sure she was caught up in the moment and all, but you could tell he was starting to get pretty uncomfortable with the whole thing.

I watched this video and it made me uncomfortable just watching this pushy person. There was alot of young people who were behaving and Blake was adorable with them. This seems like the kind of fan that Blake has talked about that he really doesnt like. I understand the fangirly thing but I dont understand fans not realizing that everyone there is a fan and would like there five seconds to of blakeness. I also feel this fan would have been first one to say that Blake was rude if he has said no to the filming. We all need to realize that being a fan we have responsibilities to like letting him autograph and talk to other fans and build his fanship up, If we monopolize his time we are robbing some other fan the thrill and may wind up losing said fan. Sorry this is long. But its a pet peeve of mine.

  19. 69 Laura Aug 30th, 2007 at 1:37 pm

I hadn’t seen that vid either, and yes…Blake was uncomfortable with the filming. After he said that it was creepy the first time, she should’ve stopped and perhaps taken still pictures of the rest of her very long Bshorty experience. Obviously, this is just my opinion…sorry if I offended anyone. Blake is very patient with his fans, a ton more than I would be…and a lot less snarky and sarcastic than I would get if I had to put up with teens and tweeners for that many hours in a day.

  20. 70 Michelle Aug 30th, 2007 at 2:39 pm

The stare-y vid, I guess she was waiting for him to do something funny like you do at the zoo, and he was like, nope, not gonna happen :D It is kind of hot in an uncomfortable way the way he just stares the camera down.

The scream-y vid, omg that was insanity!

  21. 71 Julie Aug 30th, 2007 at 5:07 pm

That screaming vid was kinda annoying after a while, just because the screaming kind of annoys me after a while LOL. The other one was cute tho, when he was like “lots of people, excuse me, move it move it!” He did look kinda uncomfortable tho.. but the girl taking the vid was kinda lingering I thought. He seemed like he had enough of the video camera..

  22. 72 Julie Aug 30th, 2007 at 6:01 pm

Oh, and did anyone else notice at the very end he said something like ‘you’ve been taping for like 20 minutes, it’s annoying..’ and the girl probably just laughed it off. I felt kinda bad. =/

  23. 73 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 6:20 pm

Has anyone seen the video yet of the encore of the NY show when everyone was passing around the ‘I am Blake’ hat?

  24. 74 Laura Aug 30th, 2007 at 6:27 pm

Anne, I was so going to ask about that! I want to see some vid of the musical hat experience! :-D

  25. 75 Melissa Aug 30th, 2007 at 6:51 pm

Anne, I was so going to ask about that! I want to see some vid of the musical hat experience! :-D

    Me too.

  26. 76 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 7:10 pm

I know I read somewhere that it was taped but I can’t seem to find it. Love to see the musical hat experience:)

  27. 77 Julie Aug 30th, 2007 at 7:11 pm

Ahh, I was wondering about that too! I was sure somebody would have put up video of it by now.

  28. 78 Sarah Aug 30th, 2007 at 7:54 pm

*waits for pj & Sarah to chime in and say they’d love a Cake tour* :)

You rang?? I’d love to see just Blake and Chris on tour together. :)

However, I’m not holding my breath. I don’t think that would be in the best interest for either of them at this point in their careers. If they’re smart businessmen, at this point, they’re wanting to separate themselves as much as possible from American Idol. They’ll always have that AI-tag, so they need to do everything else they can to become an artist independent of the show. Staying friends is one thing. Even co-writing songs is different.

Reading some of the other posts:

I hate to tell y’all, but there are plenty of Chris Rich fans who don’t like Blake, just like some of you don’t like Chris. Just read a few of the recent recaps (and comments) at MJ’s if you don’t believe it.

Chris is not Blake’s little tag-along friend who’s only successful because he’s friends with Blake. He has plenty of fans all his own and deserves to be respected as an artist for his accomplishments and talents.

Sorry, it just REALLY irks me when I see that kind of stuff. It’s like the Taylor/Elliott thing last year. These people are learning FROM EACH OTHER. One is not the pupil and the other the teacher.

ETA: Why is it “stealing” fans? People can be fans of BOTH artists. I am. I will buy BOTH of their albums, just like I bought Chris Daughtry’s, Taylor’s, AND Elliott’s from season 5.

I think I stated this a couple weeks ago in relation to the “Jordin, who?” mentality. Seems like it needs to be reiterated. Just because you like one the best doesn’t mean you have to ignore all the rest and pretend they don’t exist.

Just because one likes Amy Winehouse does not mean that one can not also like Lily Allen. Just because one likes Jessica Simpson does not mean that one can not also like Britney Spears (bad comparison I know, but less than 10 years ago, they were all the rage). I understand for some people that they will always be in competition, but that doesn’t mean that it makes sense to me or that I have to like it. There are PLENTY of people out there in this big old world who like more than one artist of the same genre and “kind”.

    *steps down off soapbox*

  29. 79 Melissa Aug 30th, 2007 at 8:47 pm

Chris is not Blake’s little tag-along friend who’s only successful because he’s friends with Blake. He has plenty of fans all his own and deserves to be respected as an artist for his accomplishments and talents

    I agree.

  30. 80 Julie Aug 30th, 2007 at 8:56 pm

I agree too. I get the impression that a lot of Cake fans think that Chris will only be successful if he goes on tour with B. =/ I will definitely be buying BOTH their CDs, along with Speezy’s, Phil, Gina, Melinda, really whoever aside from Sanjaya who releases a CD from this season.

  31. 81 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

Sorry, it just REALLY irks me when I see that kind of stuff.

    Sarah,

I felt compelled to go back and look over my previous posts after reading this. I was the one who brought up the whole discussion of the two of them touring together.

Even co-writing songs is different

That was exactly the point I was trying to make.

    Regarding this,

“I hate to tell y’all, but there are plenty of Chris Rich fans who don’t like Blake, just like some of you don’t like Chris”

Yes you are right. They do not have to come as a set. And I also agree that CRich is not stealing fans away from Blake. Everyone has their favorites and others that they like also. I do not view this as a competition at all. I wish all of them much luck. However, with that being said I would only by an album, from those that make one, if I like it.

Again I apologize if anything I had posted irked you in anyway. I really enjoy posting here, and think you all do an amazing job keeping this running:)

  32. 82 Sarah Aug 30th, 2007 at 9:19 pm

Anne, it wasn’t one specific post. It’s the whole prevailing attitude that I read everywhere (not just here) that Chris is what he is because of Blake, which is SO not the case. As you said, it’s not a buy one get one free kind of deal. They are each their own person and have completely separate lives and musical identities.

Regarding buying an album only if I like it - well, I downloaded all of Chris’s mp3’s from iTunes (except one) and I like them all. I also enjoy the kind of music he says is his musical style (Jason Mraz meets Maroon 5), so I have a feeling I’ll like his album. I’m not just buying it because I think he’s hot. Although, he IS hot. :)

Of course, I did buy Bo’s album even though I didn’t like it because I thought Clive screwed him over and I wanted to support him anyway…

  33. 83 Anne Aug 30th, 2007 at 9:50 pm

    Thanks Sarah:)

  34. 84 Lisa Aug 30th, 2007 at 10:46 pm

Sarah thank you for saying that. I also want to add I’m getting irked by this assumption that Blake will absolutely beat out Jordin and overtake her in everything, that Blake is the real cashcow and will bury everyone, that because Jordin doesn’t get the kind of screams he gets means 19 may not promote her and regret her winning. It just bugs me because I adore Jordin and I hope both her and Blake are really successful. She did win and has her fans, Chris R. has his fans. I can take or leave Chris so my only reason for not wanting him to tour with Blake is because its just a bad career move at this point. Unless Chris gets picked up by 19/BMG I don’t see it happening anyway. It might be wishful thinking on their parts.

One thing I want to point out about predicing success–I’m a huge Carrie Underwood fan. Loved her from the first day her audition was shown and I remember how through out all of season 4 many fans and the media predicted not only would Bo win, but he would go on to beat her in sales. Carrie use to get a very lukewarm response on tour. Now look at her. Just something to think about it.

  35. 85 Julie Aug 31st, 2007 at 12:00 am

I agree with you, Lisa. I think Jordin will have an enormous amount of success, just like B will. I don’t for a second think that 19 would regret her winning. Jordin deserves to have all the success and more.. really, I think I could say that for most all of them.

  36. 86 chatforblake Aug 31st, 2007 at 12:12 am

I am a fan of blakes. But I think many get the bff confused they are cake we the fans coined that they did not. I do see where they are very different in temperament. What they have in common is what makes them friends. You can see their reaction to fans and it shows they are different in temperament.
I think like most have said that a cake tour is a bad move right now they both are establishing their separate fan basis. I also have seen some very negative cake comments not going to go there but they really both need to establish themselves separately after this tour.
I would loved to have seen Melinda and Blakes kms survived, everytime I have heard them sing together they bring out the best in each others voices more so then the other duets imho. All the idols should have separate things after the tour so they can establish there own identity as serious singer and musician’s not just karoke singers from AI. They all need to show us what they can do now after the tour as individuals.
It really isnt a competition anymore and we should not be still doing that to them. It really wasnt a competition in the first place popularity contest yes not any other kind they all are very talented least this group seems to be.

  37. 87 Laura Aug 31st, 2007 at 12:33 pm

EW has a review of the E. Ruth show 8/29 up.

Best Battle: The beat-boxing showdown between Chris and Blake. Blake totally won, of course, but Chris put together a pretty convincing redux of “SexyBack.”

  38. 88 Bully Aug 31st, 2007 at 5:59 pm

Anne, I *heart* you. You always say just what it is I am thinking too– so no worries, eh?

And chatforblake– I think the differences the BFFs have is what sets them off so nicely from the other. Salt and Pepper, so to speak you know? PB and J. :-) I was not a ChrisRich fan on the show, but because of Blake I got to know him thru fandom…and now many of us have a soft spot for him. Sometimes, Blake’s friendship for ChrisR is what helps remind me that Blake is a serious guy, and for real. It speaks well of him. Just saying.

That they sing and play so well together? I think that is awesome. Blake is lucky to have such a talented, nice friend right there with him for it all.

  39. 89 Anne Aug 31st, 2007 at 6:27 pm

Bully, thanks. I *heart* you too:)

  40. 90 Melissa Aug 31st, 2007 at 6:56 pm

Well said Bully, I actually think they bring out the best in eachother.

I agree Lisa. I like Jordin very much too. I’m just concerned that Jordin’s material isn’t going to be as strong as the material Carrie had to work with on her debut album. “Tattoo” just isn’t wowing me. :\

Also, I want to apologize for the generalization I made about Blake fans that like Chris R. earlier.

  42. 92 Laura Sep 1st, 2007 at 5:06 pm

Has anyone linked this vid from the 8/28 show?

  43. 93 Anne Sep 2nd, 2007 at 5:42 pm

    Laura,

I had posted up one from that show, but this one is much better. Very close up. This is one of my favorites that these two have done. Blake was really in his element on this set during the NJ show. Plus the end is too funny. “Everyone listen to me, be very loud.” Blake’s face during that is so cute:)

  44. 94 Pam Sep 3rd, 2007 at 2:55 pm

Here is just “Sexyback” from the 8/29 show.
