Last week we sat through a two hour results show to learn that everyone was… SAFE! It seems TPTB thought it would be mean to send an Idol home during the Idol Gives Back charity telethon and we all know TPTB are never mean. Ahem. Over $60 million has already been raised for Charity Projects Entertainment Fund (CPEF) and its various charity beneficiaries. Not too shabby!
However, this development complicates tonight’s results show since not one, but two contestants will get the heave-ho. Idol extended its voting window to four hours and two phone lines again last night, and the two contestants with the fewest votes from last week and this week combined will be eliminated. It will be interesting to compare the vote totals from last week (when votes helped raise money for charity) and this week when they did not. Last week, over 70 million votes were cast. I’d bet money that the total will be much lower this week.
Thanks to everyone who voted for Blake last night after his incredible performance of “You Give Love a Bad Name.” Was it enough to Save the Beatboxer and Save the World? DialIdol thinks so. They have Jordin and Blake as they only safe ones this week. All standard disclaimers regarding DialIdol apply.
Thanks again to Jenlar for the screen cap!

Crap - my sister is coming into town so I won’t be able to the Behind the Scenes/Recap stuff today. I have some information in a saved post. Here are the links, pj, Sarah so far - there should be more later… Sorry I can’t do it.

Here’s an interesting article I found on yahoo this morning.
Could Blake actually win this thing?
Do you think he was really an underdog for the producers at first? I kinda do, especially because of the way they edited his early footage - mainly beatboxing… I think they (and he) have likely been surprised at the support he’s received from fans and voters and the media. But, smart cookie that he is, he’s played his cards right starting the first week of the top 24. While the past few weeks kind of cramped his style a little, he’s ramping his game back up right when it matters most.
Dark horse, indeed.
Here’s another:

After whipping the crowd into a frenzy by beat-boxing his way through Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love a Bad Name,” Blake blew a kiss to the judges’ table at commercial. He then ran over and surprised Chris Richardson, by putting his hands on Chris’s shoulders and jumping while Chris’s back was turned. The two close friends then gave each other a handshake and bumped shoulders before Blake left the stage so Chris could take his turn in the spotlight.
There’s also something about Antonella.
Added three little dancing Blake icons: http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/jenlar/forums/
That commentary from Sligh… Love it! Thanks for finding it! There is something so strange & surreal about a bunch of well-heeled, middle-age news types talking about how great the beatboxing is.
We can’t wait for the tour. We’ll definitely attend the Duluth, GA date, and we’ll be in Jacksonville on 7/8, so maybe that one, too!
Edited to add: Plaid Kool-Aid lmao
LB2, thanks for the links. I’ll try to get to it later today if I can. If not, we can save for a “slow” day. :)
If Blake make’s top four, he’ll get more songs on the tour, correct?
The tvweek.com interview is up. Nigel says there’s no shocker. I’m glad to hear it because I think Blake would be considered a shocker if he went home after last night’s performance.
what did simon say about blake in the beginning? i didn’t really catch that.
Simon said if he had to give top marks to anyone, it would be Blake. :)
thanks pj!
