I was excited about this last night…..still excited about it this morning!
Can’t wait to hear all the snippets and see the album cover. I hope it’s a nice sexy/hawt picture. I wonder if he will ever have a video for HMW also. A video around the time of the release of the EP would be good timing!
Isn’t this such exciting news! I seen this lastnight and was jumping for joy hehe! I have my calander marked and I’m ready to download!!!
EndOfTheWorld, I am sure whatever his pic looks like it will be nice/sexy and ‘hawt’!!!! Because thats just how he always is:)
Oh, please be a better album cover…please be a better album cover!!! fingers crossed
And no..not always hot. I don’t like when he looks like a little school boy…like TIMN kind of look.
Interesting news–I hope some of these remixes are sent to the dance clubs. FWIW, I think Blake would be wise to concentrate on the club and underground markets–he seems more at home there, though he’s got his pop side as well. Last month he seemed much more at home performing with Sawka and BT at the Winter Music Conference than doing some of those morning zoo radio interviews, in which due to the questions asked of him, he was really promoting American Idol rather than ADD or HMW. Hopefully this summer and fall he can go out on tour and promote his music the old fashioned way–performing and letting the focus be on his music, performance and artistry, rather than on “Blake Lewis–American Idol beatboxer contestant”.
label does NOT want a club musician for what they paid him. If they keep him, he will have to give them something that is a bit more mainstream than the BT/Sawka stuff.
I personally loved it, but I’m not mainstream either
ok, not sure if these have been listed on his concerts to come but…
WFLY SUMMERJAM - JUNE 21 (with Coolio, Metro Station, Simple Plan, Natasha Bettingfield, and others)
SIX FLAGS NEW ENGLAND - JUNE 22 (with Simple Plan and Boys Like Girls)
I’m mainstream. I like the cleaner image, and I also love the improv stuff he does. The emphasis would be great on the music, but let’s face it– he IS last year’s contestant. He has people interested for that alone. The trick would, I believe, be to KEEP us mainstream middle of the road folks. I’m not cool or anything, but i enjoy him, and the way his music makes me feel. :-)
Even tho i am a fan, I don;t think I’m a maniac or anything. I still have pretty basic needs, music-wise. Other regular folks are the same way, and we don;t want anyone to feel excluded from trying his stuff.
As much as I LOVE the ‘Pop’ side of Blake (I loved the music of the 80s!), it does not fit in with what is popular on today’s radio (it is just the truth). The R&B/Hip Hop type music is all they seem to play. I think Blake would really kick butt doing Hip Hop type songs and just hearing the little snippet that Kasia posted in the daily chat thread from his America the Beautiful song proves to me that that is where his talents/strengths lie. It is hard to go against the flow of mainstream radio.
I’m happy to hear about the How Many Words remix EP — it expands choices for people who are interested in what Blake has to offer. My clubbing days are long past, such as they were, but I’m looking forward to the EP release.
Mainstream is a moving target and right now mainstream pop is not embracing innovation, freshness, and creativity. There’s not much diversity on the radio. So, do you put something out there that might get you on the radio, at the risk of your identity, or do you stay the course and keep working and developing your style and sound? Do you please the muse or the master?
I agree music4me. Blake seems very talented at many genres and styles of music (whether it be Pop, Hip Hop, Electronic, etc) and I am confident that he will find the path that makes him the happiest. I never see Blake going against who he is as an artist just to please the master.
It all comes down to money and power in my mind. Do you want the money and power that the labels have and can put behind you (if they use it that is) or do you want to do all the work on your own for smaller pesos.
i’ve seen some awesome talent turn down contracts to keep what they had and not get caught up in the machine. One of them got multiple offers from the same label, but didn’t want the headache or the lack of say they would have if they signed.
Check this out guys! Zammie, a BLarmy Street Team leader, shows one of many ways to promote Blake and his music. She did a great job!

im so excited!! :)
i dont wanna sound stupid, but what does EP stand for?
lexa,
Not stupid at all! It is a good question.
Here is a definition of EP from Wikipedia:
An Extended play (EP) is a vinyl records or CDs which contain more music than a single, but are too short to qualify as albums. Usually, an EP has around 10–20 minutes of music, a single has up to 10 minutes, and an album has 30–80 minutes.
oooh. thank you so much!
EOTW–I SO agree, and this style comes very naturally to Blake. That was one reason I think many of us were so surprised with the ADD album, I think. We were surprised, and liked what we heard–but it is different than what he would perform if given a free rein.(as we have seen) Even the awesome LIVE HMW with the keyboard leans more towards that freestyle hiphop jazzy thing he does so well.
I don;t know if he thinks it isn;t good enough or something, but it really is. If it’s earnest and comes from a honest expression? We will love it. It also will help him reinforce his Identity, which is important for selling him in a genre of expectation.
I don’t mean to sound critical, if I do. The boy has talent that just oozes out of him in a very natural manner. He doesn;t need to dress it up or stifle it, just harness it.
I cant wait for this, at least we know that the label is somewhat behind this song.
i would go for the jazz-influenced album myself. I see that in his future and it would be amazing.
A jazz-influenced album would be wonderful.
So, will we be able to like download this from Itunes???
I love Sam’s vid! She did a good job.
Ohh, I’m excited for these new tracks! This news made me curious about other possible digital releases from Blake. Specifically, Emotional Waterfalls. Was it Blake that mentioned he wanted to release it, or was it just something us fans wanted to see happen? I know I would love for him to put that out there.
Nikki,
I am not sure if anyone else talked with Blake about it or whether he mentioned this before in any interview. I left a post at Team Plaid after meeting Blake at Wilkes Barre radio station. I asked him if he had intentions of releasing any preidol songs. At that time, he responded that he was planning on releasing Emotional Waterfalls EP in summer. His visit at that radio was on 3/13. That is what he said then and I hope it will materialize. I also love Emotional Waterfalls and would love to get a studio version of it. Perhaps, we could get it clarified somehow with Blake.
to Sam
what a great idea and effort!!!!!! loved the video…
Can anyone make a banner for the EP?
