    Kasia,
The other two bands are playing the after-hours party that starts at 10. It’s just Kate and B from 8-10 and of course set up and take down time.

We can’t stay for the after-party because it’s 21 and older and my kid isn’t there yet. Also, the radio station really won’t tell you much. It’s not decided at their level. They just get the promo info and pass that on. I tried to make that point earlier, but I’m not sure how well it was said. I’ve been battling a migraine for the last two days and am just now getting relief, so I’m in a fog about what I’ve written the last two days..LOL

Also, Kate does podcasts on her MS page so that might be interesting on Saturday. Something to watch for.

  2. 102 Kasia May 8th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

    newduck,

I am still not sure if the other bands will start playing at 9 or 10. Originally, the starting time for the concert for Blake and Kate was advertised to be at 9 pm but ticketweb sent me an update, which I included in the earlier post, that the concert is to start at 8 pm. So it is possible that the starting time for Saving Jane was moved up one hour too. I guess we will have to be patient and wait till tomorrow and find out.

As I was typing this post, I was listening to 99.3 and the announcer just said that the door will open at 7 pm. Nothing about the starting time of the concert.

I hope you will get rid of the headache. The DJ mentioned to me that the place will be very crowded tomorrow.

    Here’s the Bulletin from Emily:

Hey guys, We just posted an interview from a few months ago… up-and-coming artist Kate Voegele. If you haven’t checked her out… do it! You’ll be hearing more of her…She’s the first artist signed to myspace records, is going on tour with Natasha Bedingfield, her first music video just premiered on MTV, she had a re-occuring role on One Tree Hill… and well, she rocks!Check out the interview… and she gave us a special performance!(it was one of our first in studio so there are some green-screen tech issues, but ah well)Thanks for watching- this is an interview I really had to push for but I just think she’s got big things coming!
    Look in “Emily’s Interviews” section!

I didn’t know any of that, until I read this. It may prove interesting for those of you lucky enough to see the concert she and Blake will be at! :-)

PS. EOTW– I love your iPod commercial idea too!

  4. 104 Kilroy May 9th, 2008 at 12:58 am

    Nikki,
Thanks so much for those two links. Does anyone have the Season 6 DVD? I’d love to know how much Blake was on it - that bit where he’s putting on his jacket (not) is hilarious. I wish they’d just put out an all Blake dvd, like Saturday Night Live does with its various performers or guest hosts. He really looked great on AI.

  5. 105 Nic May 9th, 2008 at 1:03 am

These station shows are NEVER at the total discretion of the radio station and the station does not decide who plays in them or how long they play. They have very little say in this, just as they have very little say in what music they play anymore. You won’t hear most DJ’s say that though, but that’s how it works. It’s all coming from a place that has more money and more power….and that ain’t the little ole record station in your local area

    Newduck,

I’ve always thought this all along. It’s a big monopoly, and only certain songs will get mass airplay while the other singles just languish on the charts.

Is there honestly any reason for me to be hearing “No Air” and “Bleeding Love” literally every hour on my Top 40 and HAC stations? I can’t be the only person who’s tired of these songs and don’t find them all that great for that matter, so why the f-k are they being shoved down my throat??? My only guess is someone higher up is basically pushing or telling the radio stations to play or else…

Needless to say, I’ve pretty much shunned Top 40 in particular of late and am listening to the rock stations more since they actually play a better VARIETY of songs. If the pop stations insist on playing the same crap over and over (usually r and b-hip hop stuff I don’t like), I refuse to listen.

  6. 106 Vanessa May 9th, 2008 at 5:37 am

Does anyone have the Season 6 DVD?

    Kilroy,

I don’t think it will be released until May 13, but it seems that you can order it at www.americanidoldvdstore.com already.

  7. 107 EndOfTheWorld May 9th, 2008 at 9:11 am

Thanks for all the comments about the iPod commercial.

    Here is a new interview:

    Red White and Boom 93.3

  8. 108 Vanessa May 9th, 2008 at 9:23 am

    EOTW,

    Thanks for posting! :)

  9. 109 Bully May 9th, 2008 at 11:05 am

Thanks for the new Interview vid. It sounds like it was a morning one, him waking up just like me today! :-)

Re the S6 DVD– Emily Richett said she got her advance copy, and it is GREAT. All the extras must be fabulous, looking forward to that.

Just a point of interest–While I was at the interview vid, I noticed in the sidebar the other vid interviews available from that same station. GavinDeGraw is listed as going to be at their concert, and he is coming around again here, in Nashville. I wonder if these red wht and boom series are like Jingle Balls, to be honest. If so, they’ve come up with a cute idea to feature the talents.

  10. 110 Christina May 9th, 2008 at 12:51 pm

Why do I keep reading about something going on in Nashville? Am I missing something?

  11. 111 EndOfTheWorld May 9th, 2008 at 1:36 pm

So one year ago, we were all anxiously awaiting to hear the song pick for Blake and we were following all the news about his home town visit. I am watching some of the other hometown visits for the David’s, and it is making me sad! I am glad they are having their moments, though, just like Blake had his.

  12. 112 Bully May 9th, 2008 at 1:45 pm

Christina– Nothing going on with Blake in Nashville, yet. I keep mentioning it, because of other peoples coming in and performing, and the hope it will happen for me.

If you haven;t seen the IdolExtra from last night, watch for it on cable! It was really good. They talked to Jason, who was really sweet and relieved for it to be “over” (HAH! little does he know!!) and also, they talked to Carly, who I now can afford to like and think is charming and earnest. She had some really illuminating things to say, regarding Post-Idol, and being a celeb now, etc. Also, Bo Bice was on post-performance, and he was really great. It really does get to be like a big, expended family, the Idol thing. It makes one feel good.

  13. 113 EndOfTheWorld May 9th, 2008 at 1:45 pm

    A fun little article:

    TV Squad Fantasy Top Ten

  14. 114 Christina May 9th, 2008 at 2:57 pm

Thanks Bully. I’d go if he went to Nashville but only if these gas prices go down!!! Driving 7-8 hours may put a bit of a dent in my bank account lol with the way gas prices are right now. Was going to go down to memphis Monday and come back tuesday night but I’d say two days are worth $300 in gas?

  15. 115 Kilroy May 9th, 2008 at 3:28 pm

Thanks, Vanessa. I added the DVD to my netflix. It seems like there’s two - the regular Season 6 one, and a bonus one that has two featurettes - “Just Jordin,” and “Being Blake.” Don’t know if the youtube snippets are the extent of the Blake bits.

End of the World, great article. I like how she says:

    6. Blake Lewis, season six, second place
Another true original. How, oh how, can someone have a hauntingly clear and beautiful voice and beat-box at the same time? Blake pulled it off, and it was always fun to see how he’d change up and song and make it his own each week.

Speaking of EotW, notice how many youtube vids are using that song? They’re for animated sequences. Not sure what that’s all about, but obviously those folks put a lot of work into matching up the lyrics with the various scenes.

Happy Mother’s Day this weekend to all the mothers!

  16. 116 Kilroy May 9th, 2008 at 4:05 pm

    sorry to double post, here’s one of the HMV remixes. He really sounds like Sting in the bridge;

  17. 117 Joyce May 9th, 2008 at 4:49 pm

I don’t understand the 5 remix’s of HMV ? someone said a quick buck but why 5 versions of the same song?

  18. 118 Nikki May 9th, 2008 at 7:19 pm

Hi Team Plaid! Do anyone know how to order tickets to this years AI concerts through the presale? Is there a pass word like last year?

    Thanks!

  19. 119 EndOfTheWorld May 9th, 2008 at 9:24 pm

    Totally off topic, but:

    Uh Oh

  20. 120 newduck May 10th, 2008 at 12:25 am

Ok, so I take it all back, every word of it. Twenty minutes of spontaneous off the cuff B is WELL worth the 4 hours of drive time!
What a freaking good show! My kid totally enjoyed herself…still didn’t meet the boy though.

But, bad news is ….I didn’t take any pictures….

    Good news is….

I got the whole thing on video. Posting as soon as I figure out the youtube thing. Couldn’t take still pics cause hubby and I were busy taking turns filming it.

Voice was very ON tonight and the entertainment skills were stellar. I watched the DJ standing off to the side and he was totally impressed by B. He was shaking his head a lot with the whole “how does he do that” look.

I’ll recap as soon as a I can….or you can just watcht the vids when they are up.

    One small thing….SLTW….swoon.

  21. 121 Kasia May 10th, 2008 at 12:48 am

I just returned from the concert in Pa. A few general notes to give you an idea what the concert was like. I was able to get quite a few pictures and 3 or 4 vidoes from the concert. I will be working on uploading the videos and pictures. In the meantime, I will send a few pictures to Team Plaid.

The venue was rather small, intimate, which I liked. I do not know how many people might have been inside, around 200?? Blake’s set was second, and he performed 4 songs (jamming with Johnny Nails, 1000 miles,How many words, and She loves the way, plus improv beatboxing to a phrase given by a fan). Blake sounded fantastic on all of them, but I especially loved 1000 miles, since I have not heard this one in concert before. Blake seemed to be in a great mood, joked around, and was really entertaining. I believe that most people came to see Blake and he got very loud cheers when DJ asked who came to see Blake. Hopefully the videos will work and you will be able to enjoy what I did during the concert.

Kate’s piece was just o’k for me. She did not have the same presence as Blake although she sounded like a nice girl. When Blake was on stage he took command of it. I think Blake really knows how to connect with the audience and has charisma to grab the attention and keep it on him until the end of the concert.

I did not win any passes for greet and meet and there was no time after the concert to talk with him. However, there were a few nice moments for us, beside a wonderful concert. We were standing close to the steps to the stage, and when Blake was passing by to get on the stage, he briefly stopped by and said hi to my children and shook hands with me. After the concert, we were able to take a few pictures with Johnny, who seems very nice and very humble about the attention he got.

    newduck and Kasia,

Thanks for sharing your stories. I can’t wait for the videos and the pictures!!!!

Here are some picutes in my photobucket album.

    http://s246.photobucket.com/albums/gg115/photokat01/Jingle Ball Philly 2007/West SHore Hardware concert/

The pictures from last night are in the subalbum West Shore Hardware concert album, in case the link does not work. I am sorry, I have not figured out yet how to put links properly.

  25. 125 Kasia May 10th, 2008 at 10:53 am

It did not work. :( Here is my photobucket link and the picuters are in West Shore Hardware concert.

    http://s246.photobucket.com/albums/gg115/photokat01

I need step by step instructions how to do links the right way. LOL.

  26. 126 newduck May 10th, 2008 at 10:55 am

Hey EOTW…those videos are mine. I let them load overnight. Thanks for posting for me. Two others are on my MS…just click on my name to get those. Hope you enjoy!
We had a great time and I’ll post recap on my MS.

  27. 127 Crystal J. May 10th, 2008 at 12:45 pm

Newduck - those are FABulous videos. How did you keep the camera so still? I love the way they integrated the acoustic guitar. Left you comments and 5-star ratings!

    And, SLTW….Family-friendly event? LOL!

I knew I’d regret not going to this show, but had no idea how much. The timing was just so wrong for my bank account though. :o( I don’t suppose he’ll be coming to Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati? Any of those would be closer, and easier, for me. Or even DC?

  28. 128 Crystal J. May 10th, 2008 at 12:47 pm

Blake was really in his element for this show!

  29. 129 Bully May 10th, 2008 at 12:48 pm

This was SOOOOOooo nice to come in, and find today!
    *puffy pink hearts*

I don’t know who I love more right now, Newduck for getting the Video, or Blake for being so wonderful in it. :-D

(happily skips to go see Kasia’s piccies)

  30. 130 Crystal J. May 10th, 2008 at 12:57 pm

    Kasia - I can’t see your pics. :o(

  31. 131 Kasia May 10th, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Can someone remind me how to link using the key words? I would greatly appreciate help and I will try to leave the link.

I need to resize the videos, the files are too big, and then I will try to post them.

Also, Newduck, your videos are very good. I am glad that you changed your mind about the set. I think it was longer after all than 20 minutes.

  32. 132 Chrissy May 10th, 2008 at 1:11 pm

Newduck, great videos. Loved them, and Blake seemed so happy. :D

  33. 133 Kilroy May 10th, 2008 at 2:10 pm

Newduck, great vids. Thanks to you and to Kasia. But Newduck, can you post your other two to youtube as well? Sorry, I don’t have myspace. Wow, they kept the stage lights dark. Every time Blake performs is a remix.

  34. 134 newduck May 10th, 2008 at 4:09 pm

I’ll try to address everything, running out in a minute.

I have to give credit to hubby for most of the vids. He’s the ex-photographer so he gets prissy if I have the camera for too long. He took all but the improv one, which I took. My daughter was too mesmerized by B to even ask for the camera once he started, which is very unusual for her. We were about 7 rows back so we got the best we could from there. They only used the front lights for B & Nails which is why it’s so dark. Johnny actually looked like he had this greenish-ill tint to him the whole show which hubby and I thought was pretty funny….ok, you had to be there.

They definitely let him go longer than 20 minutes, I agree. And I’m not complaining and he wasn’t either cause he was ready to keep going til they told him he had to get off the stage.

For Kasia’s pics ….The pics work for me from the second link she put up. You need to click on Jingle Bells album on the left side because this concert is a sub-album in that one. It’s there and pics are great, Kasia.

I will try to get more on you tube. They are very hi-res and take forever to download. I have more than the four I’ve put up. I just need the time to do that. I also have some size problems with the files that I need to work on. The boy does like longer songs y’all know.

My recap is really long….on my MS. Is it okay to post her for everyone that doesn’t have MS. …okay maybe this is really long too..sorry. :)

The vids on MS are She Loves the Way..extended of course and 1000 Miles, which is absolutely beautiful!

  35. 135 Nikki May 10th, 2008 at 4:41 pm

WOW newduck, those videos are AMAZING!! He’s unbelievably cute when talking to the crowd, so funny and relaxed. I really liked that version of 1,000 Miles a lot, very pretty. SLTW is beyond words. It’s Blake at his best, in his own element. Love the improv video too. Great recap on MS, thanks for sharing it all!

Kasia, how lucky, you were so close to the stage! Thanks for the pictures, they’re awesome. I’m loving this one. Can’t wait to see your videos. I’m happy you both had such a great time. It sounds like B put on an amazing show.

  36. 136 Kasia May 10th, 2008 at 5:57 pm

You are welcome for the pictures. I am glad you were able to figure out how to find them on my disorganized photbucket site.

I would love to post the videos as well but they are over 100 MB. I do not think I want to buy a software at this point to resize them. Are there any free programs on the internet that might do the job?

    Newduck,
Great review. I am impressed by the number of details that you remembered about the concert.

  37. 137 EndOfTheWorld May 10th, 2008 at 11:49 pm

Hey EOTW…those videos are mine. I let them load overnight. Thanks for posting for me.

LOL. Didn’t mean to post them before you newduck! I didn’t recognize the name out on youtube. They are great. Love the pictures also Kasia. Thank you so much for sharing them with us.

  38. 138 Bully May 11th, 2008 at 7:26 am

Kasia– Your pictures are fantastic! :-D I agree Nikki!! I opened the one you linked, and I went, “WHOA!” heh. Nice.
(How did you get such great seats?? even the lighting looks good)

  39. 139 Kasia May 11th, 2008 at 10:12 am

    Bully,
I am glad you like them. This time my husband was taking pictures, so I could concentrate on the concert and watch children. The same with videos, so he deserves credit. :smile_wp:

As far as being close, there were no seats in the bar, so people who arrived first got best spots and were closest to the stage. We were by the stage close to the steps, so Blake was passing us to get on the stage.

    And Happy Mother’s Day.
