Hey all - I finally got thru to the guy at Open House Party! Let’s hope he can get the song on! I was so stunned that he answered, and I’m only half awake.

  2. 52 Crystal J. Apr 13th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

Crap - he asked me what I was doing tonight, and I said catching up on email. Was I supposed to say I was partying? ;o)

  3. 53 Crystal J. Apr 13th, 2008 at 9:11 pm

If you haven’t requested at OHP, can you send an email? Even though he took my call, it doesn’t mean he’ll get to it. Might be holding it to see how many requests he gets for it?

    Requests@openhouseparty.com

ETA: I’m thinking that only one email is needed. I bet they get dozens of resends for Miley and the Jonas Bros.

PJ - well, he took me by surprise answering, since I kept getting a recording before. And, I’m half awake here….

  4. 54 pj Apr 13th, 2008 at 9:11 pm

Sure you did fine, Crystal J. :)

One last thing… Blake pretty much got to make the album he wanted. That’s a victory right there. I really love most of it. I can’t blame the label or 19 or anyone else if it hasn’t done well. It is what it is.

I’m just happy I got a great album from him. Melinda fans are still waiting, and she’s a helluva talent.

  5. 55 Chrissy Apr 13th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Street team is a great idea, and it can’t hurt. :D

  6. 56 Jessi Apr 13th, 2008 at 9:52 pm

What would the street team do?

  7. 57 Pam Apr 13th, 2008 at 9:58 pm

What would the street team do?

Try to get people requesting on some of these national broadcasts for one thing like what Crystal mentioned with Open House Party, the satellite radio stations like XM or Sirius, just basically listing tips for sites where we can request/email and vote. The YES site that is mentioned here often is a site to vote for the song when it pops up on their page. I know that explanation was all the way round the bush. lol I hope that helped. :)

  8. 58 Chrissy Apr 13th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

PJ, that’s VERY true. We actually got an album, and I think most of it is very good, and Blake seems very proud of it.

  9. 59 Jessi Apr 13th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Pam, thats a good idea. If blake posted the open house party and xm links on his MS, he would get way more requests. We should start a street team.

Butet has posted some of the info up on the street team page. She is working really hard. :D

Well, it definitely sounds like we needed to get a lot of requests in to OHP to get it on tonight. I think he just said over 8000 (or 10000) for “Lollipop.” I have no idea what has happened to music in this country. This song is horrible.

  12. 62 Pam Apr 13th, 2008 at 10:57 pm

    Crystal,

Speaking of the devil, my station is playing that song now. It is horrible! lol

    As are you, Pam

8000 for Lollipop? never heard the song, and I don’t plan on to.

8000 for Lollipop? never heard the song, and I don’t plan on to.

awwww thanks Butet. Yeah, you have to get in tons of requests for a song for it to be played on OHP. Believe me, you didn’t miss anything as far as lollipop was concerned! Consider it a blessing! LOL

  16. 66 Crystal J. Apr 13th, 2008 at 11:43 pm

“Lollipop” is the song by the elusive Lil Wayne. I kept seeing that guy on the AOL artists page and wondering who the hell he was. Well, I now know. Oh well.

Maybe next week the ST site can get a group together to work on that site.

PJ–I’m late to the Party here, but I loved what you said.

I’ll be really honest here. I love Blake’s music and I’m sad it hasn’t taken off like I thought it would. I really think he has a great career in the music industry ahead of him, even if he’s not the pop star we wanted him to be. Some people here are posting harsh realities, and I welcome that. Personally, I’m a Pollyanna. I can recognize some of the realities, but I like to focus on the good stuff.
I truly believe Blake’s journey is just beginning in the music business, whether it’s in front of the mic or behind the scenes or both. Either way, he’s someone I believe will bounce back from whatever setbacks come his way. He’s mad talented.

Oh, I’m rambling. I just can’t bring myself to worry too much about him. He has confidence, talent and guts. He’ll be fine.

    PS And ambition. LOL.

PPS I do hope he tones it down a bit. His interviews haven’t served him well, IMO.

I don;t have a problem with anything Hummus said today at all, because I do believe she is meaning well and trying to be kind, and honest too. But yeah, I am a Pollyanna as well. I want everyone to hear him, and love him, but as you said–he is confident and mad-talented. I know, he’ll be fine. BIF. :-)

I found an interview while cleaning my online folders here, and yeah–they have not always served him well. But? He’s slogging onward, and we still support his efforts.

I smiled at what Kasia said, and I like how she said; it is our way of expressing our emotions, how it all makes us feel. It can be a cloud of pink pheromones or a happy jig of sharing, but we all have our moments. That is one of the neat benefits to fandom, I think. :-)
We smile and nod, and understand.

Blake to me is someone who is a fighter that won’t give up too easily and will work hard to get what he deserves even if he doesn’t end up selling tons of records because I think that was the reason he went on Idol in the first place. In other words, he didn’t want necessarily to be a mega superstar, he just wanted to be heard and I think he appreciates what Idol has done for him in that respect even with all the negatives that come it. :)

Pam–I so agree. :-) and yes, I do see him as someone who is grateful of what has happened with Idol, it being a doorway to so much opportunity. I love how you said all that. Thank you.

Nikki - Thanks for your help with the ring tone!

  20. 70 Kasia Apr 14th, 2008 at 10:49 am

I was listening to my station and I just found out that Blake will be back in PA on 5/9. I thought he was going to be at the radio station but it is not clear at this point. He will perform. There is also going to be Kate Voegele at this event. I will have to get more information about it and I will let you know.

  21. 71 Pam Apr 14th, 2008 at 11:25 am

    Kasia,

That is indeed interesting info. Will be anxiously waiting to hear more. :)

    Good post.

I love your post. I think it really sums up my feelings in a nutshell. We are being realistic here, but at the same time, we want to see Blake do well. I guess I am a polyanna too, maybe too much so. LOL

True, most of the season 6ers aren’t even signed.

I just noticed a pretty neat thing at the Yes site. WMLN is a college station near Boston (Curry College), that has been playing “Break Anotha” once in awhile after everyone else dropped it (excepting WZIP - University of Akron). They’ve also recently begun to play HMW. This morning they played HMW at 7:11, and at 7:58, they played BA. Very cool.

  24. 74 joyce Apr 14th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

put my vote in XM…they played HMW at 5:45 AM…we’re getting closer to the working hours…so 3 days in row I’ve seen they played HMW..so I am going to keep puting in my requests because it is getting air time..every little bit helps

  25. 75 chatforblake Apr 14th, 2008 at 1:04 pm

I said this a long time go here but in response to humunus (spelled right?).
Some people look at a glass and its half empty others look at a glass and its half full neither is wrong its just not everyone interprets the same or comprehends the same. I prefer looking at things in a postitive light for many reasons. My twin sister has had cancer 4 times, when she was 10, 39 and at 60 she had a rare form of ovarian and she had kidney cancer now she could have looked at it that her glass was empty instead she chose to look at it as she got to retire, enjoy her home, visit with me ect. Today she still goes to the cancer doctor will rest of her life however for right now she has no signs of cancer and is enjoying life. This more then anything has taught me that its not necessary to look at everthing none of us can foretell the outcome. As far as Blake is considered I dont have blinders on but I do remain positive with a positive attitude so much can be accomplished. I really dont care if he gets to be a pop star he will be a musician no matter what and creative thats why I like him and will continue to.

  26. 76 NBNN Apr 14th, 2008 at 1:07 pm

Kasia - thanks for the news. What station were you listening to?

  27. 77 sierrarose Apr 14th, 2008 at 1:18 pm

hi-i am usually a reader of fan websites-not necessarily a contributor. I would like to add few comments and hope that I do not sound intrusive. first, this is a great site and Blake is lucky to have so many devoted fans.
i know it is hard to see someone you like struggle. Blake is doing a lot of hard work to promote his album. that is so admirable of him. even though he has got a boost from being on ai, he has had to overcome some obstacles. making an album is hard work and he had to do at least part of it while on on tour. i understand he had some vocal strain as a result of the double duty. a lot of successful artists don’t have ultra successful first albums-sometimes they have to go thru a learning process which i am sure blake is doing right now. he has had to overcome some problems-his music incorporates a lot of different styles-he does not work in one genre like someone like daugherty does, he has to overcome the whole “he’s a beatboxer” thing, and unfortunately, the unfair karma when he beat out Melinda Doolittle. sorry if i sound like i am lecturing and telling you things you already know.
i am just trying to say let’s be proud of our bshorty for what he has accomplished and continue to support his efforts.

    MBNN,

It was 99.3 kiss in Harrisburg (WHKF). Are you from Pa, if you do not mind sharing that information?

I think Blake will have another concert in KFEST (NY?) in June. People left comments on his myspace. Are we getting a mini tour? Hmm.

  31. 81 Pam Apr 14th, 2008 at 1:43 pm

    sierrarose,

That was a very nice post and I agree we should be very proud. I know I am. :) Please come back and visit us. :)

I think Blake will have another concert in New York (state) in June. People left comments on his myspace. Are we getting a mini tour? Hmm.

    Kasia,

That is one the top 40 stations on the Mediabase format leaders. I see those comments on Blake’s page. It’s something they are calling Kfest. I did a Google search about it and got this info from Wilki:

K Fest is an annual event (since 1994) hosted by WSPK, a Top-40 radio station in New York. It is held each June in Wappingers Falls, New York, usually at Dutchess Stadium.

  33. 83 NBNN Apr 14th, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Kasia, I’m not in PA - but like to follow some of the stations that are mentioning Blake (the glory of the web). I added the link to the info - it sounds like a real performance, sponsored by a KISS station. I know Harrisburg has been playing HMW (although the plays are dropping). Let’s hope this adds some momentum. I couldn’t figure out if you could buy tickets or only win them.

  34. 84 Pam Apr 14th, 2008 at 2:02 pm

I couldn’t figure out if you could buy tickets or only win them.

    NBNN,

After reading the info, it looks like a yes to both. They say the tickets are $9.93 and it’s an all ages show which will be great for the fans under 21. :)

  35. 85 NBNN Apr 14th, 2008 at 2:15 pm

Pam, I couldn’t find a place to buy them, could you?

  36. 86 Pam Apr 14th, 2008 at 2:18 pm

Pam, I couldn’t find a place to buy them, could you?

No, I didn’t see anything that gave a place to buy them either. It said to keep listening to win the tickets.

  37. 87 Kasia Apr 14th, 2008 at 3:36 pm

    MBNN,

I know Harrisburg has been playing HMW (although the plays are dropping).

Yes, HMW was not making it consistently the top 5 songs in the evening program and at night they were playing it sometimes once or twice. So, I was surprised when they played it today in the morning.

As for the concert, I wanted to call the place where it is going to be but I cannot find the right phone number.

  38. 88 NBNN Apr 14th, 2008 at 4:07 pm

Kasia - I am planing to work on how to get tickets a little more tonight. I’ll let you know if I discover anything.

  39. 89 newduck Apr 14th, 2008 at 5:11 pm

You can buy tix for this place (West Shore Hardware BAr) at ticketmaster for other shows (Drowning Pool, Puddle of Mudd), but I don’t see anything for this show yet. I’ll keep watch there and let you know if anything pops up. I could definitely get there for that one!

EDIT: Actually, the more I look at this, the odder it seems. Sounds like the last band will play from 10 on and the first goes on at 9. So that means we get under 30 minutes of B? Is that what anyone else sees?

Here is the bar’s myspace page, where it says that the concert starts at 9.

  40. 90 newduck Apr 14th, 2008 at 5:21 pm

Here is myspace for the bar…sorry problems

  41. 91 Kasia Apr 14th, 2008 at 6:53 pm

    Thank you NBNN.

  42. 92 star Apr 14th, 2008 at 7:28 pm

he has to overcome the whole “he’s a beatboxer” thing, and unfortunately, the unfair karma when he beat out Melinda Doolittle.

Unfair karma? Um, I disagree. Blake kicked ass Top 3 night and EARNED his spot in the finale. However, I agree with the “beatboxer” label. Thanks, PTB. :rolleyes_tb:

  43. 93 Bully Apr 14th, 2008 at 7:38 pm

Thank you for posting, sierra rose. :-) It was a very nice post, and I so hear you on what you’re saying. We’re a friendly bunch, and certainly welcome any nice discussion of Blake.
