I still have not heard back ONE TIME from any of my area stations. Not once, in all these months.

Did you see the numbers for ADD last week? It went up 4K, 36albums shy of a nice bump they said. 282K I think.(I don't remember where I saw that...)

ETA: This from Idolchatter-
Since I'm so far behind after a day of endless meetings, here's the Idol download situation. Jordin's No Air falls from No. 3 to No. 4, according to Nielsen SoundScan, but is up 17% in sales, selling 129,000 for a total of 835,000. Tattoo is up 34-31 with an 18% boost to 35,000 for a total of 1.45 million.

Carrie's All-American Girl climbs 27-24 and gains 17% to 36,000 for a total of 344,000. Her Before He Cheats is slightly off on the chart, 135-138, but gains 11% to 11,000 downloads for a total of 2.24 million.

Daughtry's Feels Like Tonight is down 51-53 but increases 13% to 24,000 for a total of 250,000. Over You is down 106-140, off 10% in sales to 11,000 for a total of 944,000. Home drops 140-152 but gains 6% to nearly 10,000 for a total of 1.40 million. And It's Not Over drops 178-185 but increases 11% to 8,500 for a total of 1.71 million.

Blake's How Many Words, which I may have neglected to mention last week (it fell 128-167 and sold 8,000, off 20%, for a total of 48,000), fell off the chart this week.

Okay, I'm now officially tired of "With You" and "Please Don't Stop the Music." I can't drive 10 mins. in my car without hearing one or both of these. That's saying a lot when I only get two Top 40 stations here. Talk about overplayed.

Oh, and I am floored at how many stations added Madonna's single in the past week. 2005 spins added in one week. Amazing. I haven't heard it yet, so can't comment.

43 21 MADONNA 4 Minutes 2796 791 2005 19.680

I'll do some emailing of my stations here for our boy. I broke the antenna on my home stereo in the LR, so can't hear it unless I am in the BR or the car.

Bully,

It's actually 282K.

Crystal,

My station has that song by Madonna. For one thing, Timbaland is on that song besides Timberlake and usually, songs that Timbaland has anything to do with do quite well. I'm not surprised the song is rising because of that, but the rate at which it is climbing is really astonishing.

Crystal J--I am so tired of those two songs, that when they or endless commercials pop up, I have been trying the christian radio station the next scan button Upwards! LOL. Heard a few nice songs that way, but you are pretty desperate when you hit Scan Up to try and roll the dice.

I noticed over on the YES site that a few new stations are starting to play HMW:

WHTS
WJIM
WDJQ
WFLY

WFLY finally started playing it. There was a post a few days back that Pam posted that said they added it.

Joyce

I know how you feel. One of DJ at the Pa stations he did inteview mentioned that they will add his song to the list next day, and never did.

Also, it took me a while before I finally heard from one DJ and they played HMW. I think in Pa, since they were not too crazy about BA to start with, there is a higher chance that HMW will be played, at least at this point, if the radio has countdown section. The radio stations that I am familiar with and requested the song have them at 8 pm or 9 pm. Maybe, email or call the DJ at your station who has the show in the evening and ask about the countdown and if votes will count for HMW. I you wanted to check the stations that played HMW thus far these were WHKF, WLAN, and WBHT (this one only once), and I think WWKL (also once).

My understanding is that most of the countdown sections will use daily requests to decide which song makes it. So I guess, requesting by calling or on online is what really matters.

Crystal J–I am so tired of those two songs, that when they or endless commercials pop up, I have been trying the christian radio station the next scan button Upwards! Bully,

I do the same thing here at home. LOL I have a radio program on my computer and I have 3 stations on the preset button. I have the top 40 station, the HAC station, and the Christian station on my preset and so I just hit the button when I hear something I don't like. LOL

What's really getting frustrating now is to see HMW barely picking up spins. I think it picked up 1 spin this morning from what I saw on the Mediabase chart. KSME-FM in Ft. Collins, CO did pop up in the format starters this morning with 2 spins. That was a station that played BA in the past.

It also helps that it's Madonna. Whether or not you like her she's a legend. Top 40 radio has been wanting a really catchy song from her for a while now. Add in the Timbaland/Justin combo, easy sell.

If you dislike Leona and are already sick of Bleeding Love you may want to avoid the radio because BL is #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. It will only get bigger now.

As for HMW, it's really not doing well. I'm NOT trying to be overly negative, I'm being realistic. It's off to an even slower start than BA is and it's hardly picking up spins or adds. Saying it's still a good sign because it went up one or two spins isn't wise, because it's not. Realistically second singles are almost always tougher to crack unless you had a HUGE debut single, Blake didn't so it really will be an uphill battle. HMW might be a better song than BA but unfortunately BA's failure did hurt Blake's name in radio.

Has anyone else had some problems with the site this morning? Sometimes I get this WordPress screen that comes up with an error. I thought it was my computer at home, but I am getting the same error at work. It doesn't happen all the time though. I then have to quit the browser and clear out my cache.

What the f*** is the deal with HMW? Are the stations refusing to play it once again like they did with BA? I guess the label isn't bothering to promote the single at all, beyond these radio promo appearances?? :/ Sorry, I really don't believe it has anything to do with the QUALITY of the song because there's so much garbage that cracks the Top 40 nowadays.

I still kind of wish they had gone with "Know My Name" as the second single, with the Lupe Fiasco affiliation and all. Lupe has a single on the charts now and those collaborations are all the rage of late.

I've actually been avoiding listening to the radio recently because I'm sick of hearing the same songs over and over. I'm feeling everyone's pain over the Rihanna and Chris Brown songs, meh. And Leona, I'll be happy if I never hear her song again either.

WDJQ added HMW this week. :) WHTS is a new one, well frankly for this song, they are all new right Crystal? LOL WJIM is in Lansing, MI. They played BA fairly often in the beginning. I checked on WHTS. That one is in Grand Rapids.

I forgot to mention in the new Radio & Records magazine there is a full page ad for HMW. These ads aren't cheap at all and are actually quite expensive, but in the grand scheme of things I don't believe it will do much for the song.

I actually don't have any grudges against Madonna. I just was amazed to see 2k spins added in one week. I sort of like her, not crazy-crazy though. Back in the day, when it was Madonna vs. Cindy Lauper, I was more of a Cindy Lauper fan. But I have liked a few of her songs. Back in the day, when it was Madonna vs. Cindy Lauper, I was more of a Cindy Lauper fan. But I have liked a few of her songs.

WDJQ added HMW this week. :) WHTS is a new one, well frankly for this song, they are all new right Crystal? LOL WJIM is in Lansing, MI. They played BA fairly often in the beginning. I checked on WHTS. That one is in Grand Rapids.

Pam, you and EOTW are the better ones to know that, lol.

I forgot to mention in the new Radio & Records magazine there is a full page ad for HMW. These ads aren’t cheap at all and are actually quite expensive, but in the grand scheme of things I don’t believe it will do much for the song.

Lisa,

if the label wanted to invest some money, I would have preferred they spent some funds on promoting the song to program directors at the *radio stations*. I am assuming this magazine goes to the stations, but I'm not sure what impact it will have in convincing them to play the song.

As for HMW, it’s really not doing well. I’m NOT trying to be overly negative, I’m being realistic. It’s off to an even slower start than BA is and it’s hardly picking up spins or adds.

I don't know. I sort of believe in the "turtle" theory. Speed isn't everything. BA went up pretty fast and then just dropped by a lead ball. So speed did not mean anything in that case. The single has only been out a couple of weeks. Some of the other artists on mediabase that were out around HMWs time, maybe a little sooner, are also hovering around the point where HMW is. Hard to tell. As long as new stations keep popping up...I am going to keep the faith! Slow and steady wins the race. Go turtles!

EOTW ,

I like your turtle theory. :smile_wp:

I was thinking about the time when OneRepublic was breaking into the radio with Apologize. I got frequent bulletins from them asking people to vote for the song on different radio stations. I think they listed the name of the stations or telephone numbers to call to vote or request the song. I have never seen Blake doing it, and I think it is part of his laidback personality. He did not vote for himself during AI. Did he?

For all his devoted fans, there is no need to ask to vote or request HMW but I wonder what motivates other people, the more casual fans, to call the station or make a request for Blake's song. I noticed when Blake puts a blog, there is so much traffic on his site and people leave comments. Do you think if Blake put more frequent blogs would motivate his more casual or less informed fans to do more for him? Like pick up the phone and ask for he song or vote online. Maybe all his fans are doing it already and it might only work for a short period of time. I guess, it was just a thought.

I still haven't heard HMW on my local radio station, I've requested plenty of times, and they even said they would try, but I've never heard it.

I want my radio station to play Blake!!! And not just play him, but play him regularly!!!!

I am going to send out some more email requests again today, I don't like to do them too often, because I'm afraid that the DJ's might get annoyed by me!!!! lol

Lisa-- I'm not being fresh here at all, but serious: What do you see is the problem/hold up with them playing Blake's songs? Do you have any idea why they won't? What rumblings have you heard?

With Clive's namebrand backing him up, along with the AI frenzy at the moment, I just don;t understand why they wouldn;t embrace him. It seems it was this time last year Elliot started getting airplay, and for just the reason I mentioned.

I don;t think it's that people "don;t like it", because if they didn't people wouldn;t be all exclamation points when they hear it like on football or promo stuff. It's addictive, his music, if they get to HEAR IT. People really liked Blake, so I wonder why now he gets no interest. Jordin does, so it's not that it's Idol Brand low-brow entertainment...

The only two negatives I hear about Blake is "beatboxxing", and then the poor response to BA Live on TV. Following that, that he's a douche...so is it becoming popular opinion? Was that it-- a media black-eye?

Joyce,

Blake was at WBHT during 7pm-12 am program. I think he had also an interview at WKRZ, but I am not positive. To be honest, I am not sure if the DJ promised to add the song when he was on the air or not. I know he made a comment after the song was played ( I was in the studio at that time). So to be fair, if you call them, I would suggest asking if they would add his song to the playlist since Blake was their guest and the DJ liked the song. I do not mean to tell you what to say, but I was not sure if when DJ said "I think we can add this song as soon as tomorrow" was aired.

If you really want to make effort with the radio, check WLAN in Lancaster. They were good at least playing BA and HMW and DJ at night is really nice.

Bully,

I believe the problem is the AI appearance was expected to be the big launch for HMW, and it just didn't happen. There's no better way to introduce a new song to the general public and to the industry than using AI as a vehicle (personally I think Arista relied too much on using AI as a launchpad and provided no other pre-release buzz). Downloads and radio reception were lukewarm after the performance so I think that was a red flag to the label interest wasn't very strong in the song. Like I said above second singles are almost always tougher for people that are already struggling. Of course I can be completely wrong and HMW may eventually recover and start climbing, but right now I don't see it as a good sign. When Blake is visiting radio stations and program directors still aren't putting the song into rotation/on the playlist it kind of defeats the purpose of making the visit.

I believe the problem is the AI appearance was expected to be the big launch for HMW, and it just didn’t happen. There’s no better way to introduce a new song to the general public and to the industry than using AI as a vehicle (personally I think Arista relied too much on using AI as a launchpad and provided no other pre-release buzz). Downloads and radio reception were lukewarm after the performance so I think that was a red flag to the label interest wasn’t very strong in the song.

Well, I doubt having Blake sing immediately at the start of the show really helped matters, with many millions of people missing his performance (!!). What the hell was with that, anyway?? It seems like every other guest singer they've had on so far has sung halfway through the show, so the fact he sang one minute into the results show pissed me off. It's possible people just didn't respond to the song as well as we would have hoped, but many viewers didn't even probably get to actually HEAR the song given when he performed.

Radio airplay is critical, no matter who the artist is. There's absolutely NO way Jordin would be selling as many iTunes or CDs as she has without the enormous amount of spins she's received for her two singles. I imagine alot of that is due to promo by her label, rather than massive listener response right off the bat. I just checked out the Mediabase charts and "No Air" is getting over 7,000 spins now, the 5th most in the country.

Lisa-- I do think they were counting too much on AI audience being the saving grace here, but for whatever reason they have turned their support elsewhere. They do seem to feel he is passee, as a generality.
:-( DJs too.

I don't understand the fickle mentality, myself. I can't WAIT for that Kat McPhee/David Foster album to come out, and she was a fav 2 seasons ago now.

I have ADD on the stereo at a thumping decibel while I houseclean. Maybe the rest of the world will catch on in time. I do still like the idea of a direct to iTunes release of some of his "extras", like BT-SLTW and any other efforts he has. I can only hope the label will let him do that for the fanbase, it would stoke the fire, and heck--it could add to his efforts in album sales with minimum label input!

Nic,

I have noticed that every Wednesday since Blake performed. It's kind of obvious. The results shows seem to be coming on the air about 2 minutes before they are really supposed to be. I think Vicki brought that up a few days ago and she is right. The time listed for Idol to air on Tuesday is 7:58/6:58c and 8:58/7:58c time on Wednesday. There is no telling how many people missed the start of his performance or missed it completely. I wish Blake could have gotten the treatment the others have and could have performed right before the results.

Blake probably would have performed later on in the show if he hadn't had his own band onstage with him. The show's live so they couldn't just interrupt the results, set them up midway through the show, and then go right back to the results. There wouldn't have been enough time. I know Blake is super loyal to his friends and all and was probably excited to bring them on AI with him, but for such an important performance, maybe it would have been better to sacrifice that, just that one time.

I also agree that Arista shouldn't have relied so much on Blake's AI fame to launch him...especially knowing that the majority opinion is that Season 6 wasn't very good, tour attendance being down, etc. If they really love and believe in his talent and artistry, then maybe they should be treating him and breaking him as a real new artist and not just an AI product.

I also agree that Arista shouldn’t have relied so much on Blake’s AI fame to launch him…especially knowing that the majority opinion is that Season 6 wasn’t very good, tour attendance being down, etc. If they really love and believe in his talent and artistry, then maybe they should be treating him and breaking him as a real new artist and not just an AI product.

HMW probably tested poorly on station call outs. That along with the lukewarm response to his performance on AI helped sink it. Yeah, more people might have seen it if they'd placed it differently on the show but millions upon millions still saw him at the beginning of the show so I don't think there's validity in the idea that is what tanked him.
The other thing is I do think he's been turned into a bit of a joke via self-inflicted wounds. Something similar occurred with Justin G after season one. Between his poor record sales and the bad publicity of him almost running a kid over with his jetski the media had a reason to skewer him and his career never recovered. As soon as Blake gave those spazzy performances of BA, had the video "Blake Lewis is shitting in my bathroom" and said "titties in your mouth" on TMZ, he blew his one chance to make a good first impression. He made himself a target for ridicule instead of respect. Sligh did the same thing to himself.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if J/Arista drops him for the AI flavor of the month, David Cook. I'm not trying to be negative, I just think at this point it is well within the realm of possibilities. No way 282,000 copies of ADD is going to pay off all the producers, studio time, etc J invested. The other bad sign to me is that there aren't any announced dates for a tour and it's almost April. At minimum he should be showing up on state and county fair entertainment lists if efforts are being made to book him.

To support my idea that airplay is critical, one of my friends told me a little story - her 12 year old daughter had some friends over and she played Blake's CD for them. They had NEVER heard his songs on the radio, and had no clue what was on his album, but they loved the music once they heard it. Yep, a few of them ended up getting A.D.D. afterwards. So I'm having a hard time buying the theory that the songs are NOT radio friendly or people don't like them at all, I think the main problem is he's not getting ENOUGH airplay to make a difference.

Exactly! That is the big problem in my mind. People need to HEAR the song so that they can make up with their own minds whether they like it or they don't.

Well ksw2000, clearly something went wrong and I don't think it's realistic to avoid some of the possibilities just because we don't like the thought of Blake being partially to blame for what has happened with ADD and the singles.

Well, I'm sure there's a Clive contract in David's future, however, they don't drop people just so they can "replace" them with someone else.

For all we know, Blake only signed a one album deal anyway. Bo Bice did an interview recently and said that it's not so much that they drop you, it's just that your contract runs out. Time will tell, I guess

Actually it's been long believed that when it comes to the AI crew, people do get dropped for the new crop. It's widely believed Bo was released after his album failed, to make room for Daughtry. Of course Bo isn't going to say he was dropped, none of them ever do. And that's understandable. And there are a couple other examples. If you are from AI orginally and you are a money drain, there is evidence you are going to get cut specifically to make way for the new "toys"
Clive Davis was quoted two or three years ago saying that as far as he's concerned AI itself is good for 500,000 cd sales. Right or wrong it is what the old guy believes. And he's the one making the decisions.

That was the thing though Crystal, the media blew what happened with Justin out of proportion so the fact that it was an accident and he actually didn't come close to harming the child didn't matter. The media created the reality much like they've done with Blake, with his help.

Did he?

Kasia,
I really agree with you here. I know that it seems like it is not Blake's thing to promote himself, but I really think he should. And there is nothing wrong with it. He should do a lot more self-promotion on his MySpace. Like you said, phone numbers, voting etc. People would probably support that, they just don't necessarily know what to do.

A little snippet from an article about Carly Smithson's first album.

"The label also earmarked about $200,000 to hire independent promoters -- middlemen who use their influence with radio program directors to secure airplay. In addition, MCA spent about $100,000 on "imaging" for Ms. Hennessy, including photos, clothes and makeup artists. It sent Ms. Hennessy on a $150,000, four-week promotional tour, where she sang at malls over recorded tapes, backed by two dancers, and at station-sponsored concerts. She bantered with DJs and participated in promotions. In Little Rock, Ark., a male listener won a dinner date with Ms. Hennessy. She recalls him as "the most annoying boy I have ever known in my life."

But the single wasn't catching on. In markets across the country, program directors who met with Ms. Hennessy professed to like the song, but then didn't play it much. "She was very nice," says Jon Zellner, a programmer for KMXV, a top-40 station in Kansas City, Mo., who met with Ms. Hennessy and her handlers for lunch when they visited the area last summer. "But Carly Hennessy simply didn't have that sound that seemed like it would kick in at that time." He never played the song.

Greg Marella, vice president of pop promotion at MCA, says the "I'm Gonna Blow Your Mind" single was in an awkward position: The music was a little too mature for regular top-40 radio and a little too pop-sounding for adult top-40 radio."
Might be a little insight into how hard it is to actually get air play.

Thanks Barbariba-- That actually is very salient.(even if I don't like it) Blake could very well be in this category: Very nice guy, but what to do with his songs? Do they fit? Do they think people will like it or learn to? PDs might be just, "EHhhhhh" and then pull it.

Of course to be fair, I have heard tracks from Carly's album, and it is Not Good. JMO. I think another album from her will be the same way.

ITA.

Well, if Blake needs a hand, I think there are many people (hint-here) who would be happy to look for necessary information so he can post it on myspace. :wink_ee: Sometimes, I think he is the last person to know that stuff. Kevin often has promo dates posted before Blake does. :laugh_tb:

Well, if Blake needs a hand, I think there are many people (hint-here) who would be happy to look for necessary information so he can post it on myspace. :wink_ee: Sometimes, I think he is the last person to know that stuff. Kevin often has promo dates posted before Blake does. :laugh_tb:

Kasia,

You have to hand it to Kevin, he is pretty quick on the draw when it comes to posting dates. He already had April 1st and 2nd on his calendar as TBA before Blake put anything up.

I still think alot of the songs that are all over the radio are NOT that good and they still get mass airplay, so what do I know?? LOL. It all depends on whether your label is willing to push the song to the stations or not (spend some $$$). Yeah, some songs get spins and don't catch on but let's face it, ONE MAJOR REASON songs end up topping the charts is because they get shoved down people's throats and played constantly.

I think Blake should have links to all the radio podcasts, radio station photos, YouTube videos of his performances (eg. GMA) (like MJ puts on her site) etc. I know Blake likes to run his own MySpace, but I cannot even imagine how he has time to do everything. He could still do the fan communication part, but maybe someone could help him with the promoting part. There is the Official Blake Lewis site, but that site doesn't seem very good. I hardly ever go over there.

You can still come to the YES site and help us vote. :) BA still shows up there occasionally on a daily basis and so does HMW for the stations that the site monitors.

To vote you need to be registered and that is pretty simple. They ask you for a username and password. To vote, once a station pops up with either song, just click on the call letters that you see and you should see the specific station's log of songs and either BA or HMW should be at the bottom of that list. You should see some various symbols such as "yes" "no", etc. To vote for either song, just click on the "Yes" symbol and then hit "Return" and you have submitted your vote.

www.yes.com

As far as the official site goes, I don't go there too often. I agree that the official site isn't the best source for info most of the time. lol A lot of the time, the dates listed for Blake's appearances haven't been exactly right on more than one occasion. lol

I think the Official site is a great idea, that they just don't have anyone running. It would be wonderful if artists had a real informational website, but most don't. I'm not sure what the mentality is behind that, but my guess is that they just haven't embraced the net as the big media outlet it has come to be.

For those that visit the YES site, doesn't it seem like Blake is getting more action today? Especially during the day. He usually gets most of it during the wee hours of the night. I hope so....keeping my fingers crossed.

Just a bit more than usual, IMO. The days are usually extremely slow. Fingers crossed here too.

It does seem to spike up a lot during the wee hours of the morning as a rule and there has been somewhat of a spike this afternoon. One of the old BA standbys showing up WJIM-FM in Lansing, MI was good to see. I don't want to get too excited unless I start seeing these stations playing it a whole lot, but it's still good to see and I'll have my fingers crossed too. :)

An Idol Performance does help bump sales a bit. Kimberly Locke is at 74 on ITunes Top 100 Albums and 16 on ITunes Top Pop album. I did not see anything on the song charts for overall and pop. Similar to where Blake was on the Thursday after Idol.

Are the performers this season wearing the ear pieces all professionals get to wear when singing? I think I saw that. This is a big change and a big advantage from all the previous seasons.

I agree, having a successful album/record, a lot of the time requires spins. What I don't agree with the claim that the PR/label people aren't pushing enough. Blake's done so much promotion all over the country. When people debut a song on radio, its a usual call in and at appearances at specific radio stations like Seacrest show.
I think Blake might have the Carly syndrome. The music is "good" but it doesn't fit well with radio audiences or stations genres. Like Bjork, her music is wildly popular, yet its not radio material. I think the song that could possibly be the "BIG" hit, is I Got U, but we know Blake didn't want that in the album, and I very well doubt he would push for it.

As fans, we LOVE him to death, but sadly we are all ways the ones to over analyze and criticize too harshly. lets just keep the faith. Even if Blake doesn't become the mega supastar that we want him to be, at least he is able to convey his music to a world of people.

KOOL 105.5 Radio Interview

See he can have a nice interview, good job B.

As fans, we LOVE him to death, but sadly we are all ways the ones to over analyze and criticize too harshly. lets just keep the faith. Even if Blake doesn’t become the mega supastar that we want him to be, at least he is able to convey his music to a world of people.

True, its about the music not how much albums he sells.

I agree, having a successful album/record, a lot of the time requires spins. What I don’t agree with the claim that the PR/label people aren’t pushing enough. Blake’s done so much promotion all over the country. When people debut a song on radio, its a usual call in and at appearances at specific radio stations like Seacrest show.

I think Blake might have the Carly syndrome. The music is “good” but it doesn’t fit well with radio audiences or stations genres. Like Bjork, her music is wildly popular, yet its not radio material. I think the song that could possibly be the “BIG” hit, is I Got U, but we know Blake didn’t want that in the album, and I very well doubt he would push for it.

Butet,

I can't entirely agree about the promotion. Yeah, Blake's doing radio shows in various cities but what good does it do if the DJ's don't even play the song or only play it once-twice total? Most people won't have their radios on at the exact time Blake's being interviewed or his song gets that one spin. Repeated exposure is the key here.

The reason I had pushed for "Know My Name" and "Hate 2 Love Her" as potential singles is because they are Timberlake-esque and Maroon 5-esque songs, so there's NO way the Top 40 station's program directors could insist the songs don't fit their format. I honestly don't think HMW is really so drastically different, though. "Apologize" got MASSIVE airplay and although the Timbaland connection obviously helped, that song isn't exactly like everything else on the radio.

NIC, agreed, its all about exposure, but how much exposure do you want?? I mean I wouldn't mind seeing Blake in my face or going door to door trying to promote his album but thats not going to happen. its not Blake's or the Labels fault that after the interviews the song doesn't get picked up. Its the Dj's and/or audiences decisions on what and when things get played. Blake's hitting up the morning radio stations because thats when a larger audience listens to the radio (you knw if your from major cities, what traffic is all about), and he sometimes hits the afternoon/night shows because people are on their way home. and he also had AI as a platform for the song. Even if people missed the performance, they would of known about it the next day. My radio station talked about his performance, know one but me has asked for the song to be played. every DJ in Houston now knows me by name, and they tell me I am the ONLY one that requests it. I fault DJ's for not giving the song a chance not Blake's frank remarks, or his Beatboxing skills, its just they don;t find it right for radio. Until we are able to change what gets played, then I don't think its going to take off into instant success like some music out there.
Music might be an art form. But in Hollywood its a business.

But I will try to get it play, we all should, there is no need to get all out of joint. Let things take its course.

And M4M, I heart ya too!

Butet,

I'm still of the opinion that the label provides 'incentives' for the radio station to play certain songs - the legal payola we've discussed on here before. The program director will find space on their format list for a song if given the proper incentives. And it doesn't appear as though Arista is really making much of an effort to push the song if it's getting no spins in the BIG markets once again (NYC, LA, Chicago), just like what happened to BA, and the other markets are only playing it a few times like during the radio promo. Let's be honest, how many times did some of you hear Jordin's "Tattoo" before it started to grow on you? I remember some B fans saying they began to like "Tattoo" after they'd been exposed to it on the radio for a period of time, so I'm assuming that required many exposures rather than one or two spins altogether. Many people don't really start to dig a song a lot until they become more familiar with it (hear it a bunch).

Did anyone watch AI extra tonight.
If so, what did you think about Haley's answer. I take it as a yes.

For those who didn't watch. They asked her if she hooked up with Blake on NYE and she first asked them to define hook up (smart move, wish B had thought of that) and then danced all around the question.

Also, there was a quick cute video of them hanging out backstage during AI Extra.

KOOL 105.5 Radio Interview

Thanks for this! That was a fun interview! He seemed to have been in such a good mood, very talkative and all. I'm glad he cleared the airi in regards to David Cook, too. Funny he would have done Eleanor Rigby if they have had Beatles songs on his season!

On the All Access website, HMW is now showing up as Hot Picks for 3 stations:

WFLY - Albany (was there previously)
WIHT - Washington DC (new)
WJIM - Lansing (new)

Blake visited WIHT and they only played the song twice, then they seemed to stop playing it. It seems encouraging now that they added it as a Hot Pick. :clap_tb:

EOTW,

Yeah, it sort of does, but I just hope they will actually start playing it more. I love to see the song show up on those Hot picks lists but it doesn't mean much unless the DC station really gets into high gear and really starts playing the song and if that happens then I will really get excited. lol

btw, WIHT is in fact a YES monitored station and so if they start playing it more than the 2 spins it initially received, then we will be able to see it with our own eyes over there which will be a plus! :)

It seems encouraging now that they added it as a Hot Pick.

On the All Access website, HMW is now showing up as Hot Picks for 3 stations:

Now, isn't that strange? I was flipping thru that page earlier today and only saw WFLY.

Newduck - yes, I did take Haley's answer as a yes as well. ;o)

I think WJIM has played it at least three times today. And WFLY is playing it now.

Newduck and Crystal, I also saw that interview and I took Haley's answer as a yes too. I agree she made a very smart move asking them to define "hookup" because it can take on different meanings to different people. LOL

As far as the stations go, only WFLY had been on that list for the last few days. It is sort of interesting that they have added the other 2 now. WFLY was one of the stations that apparently added HMW on Tuesday. Let's just cross our fingers and hope they do play it and that the other stations that have added will too. :)

Thank you Crystal! I didn't switch the screen over in time to vote. lol

Woot! I’ve only been calling and emailing (with a different name) WIHT every single day since he visited to get them to play it again.

Way to go Newduck. You made a difference!

Aw, what a great interview! I loved it. Parts that I found particularly adorable: he has a Cosmic Berry room, likes to slide around the floor in his socks Risky Business style, and likes stargazer lilies. So cute. I want to kill alien scum with Blake!

So I'm wondering how it went tonight with KJ at the WMC. No doubt they killed it. Plus they're going to perform with BT tomorrow! They must be super pumped right now. I hope some videos turn up of it.

I'm glad those requests payed off newduck. :)
