About the privacy thing… definitely. That’s why I prefaced the question with “If it’s not too personal…” because I’ve never heard him say one word about it before. Hey… the question is nominally better than than “zOMG are u gonna do a concert in (insert random town here)?” It’s up to him to decide which ones to answer, and up to us as responsible fans to respect his privacy in the areas that he requests it.

    Anyway…

One of my friends from another state just called my local station and requested BA “for jen in (my town)” and the DJ said that she was so excited that they have listeners in other states and said that she’d play it. Not holding my breath, but I’m still hopeful! They usually just say that they have no clue who he is. He has been added to their list on the request link. *Please* let this be a good sign!!!

Awesome.. got played on TRL! Maybe more people will vote for it, or listen to the song..

Yay,that’s so cool. I just hope he keeps getting buzz these upcoming weeks while they release a second single.
He needs to keep his face out there. I am praying he gets invited on AI to perform his second single.

According to iTunes, Matt White’s single was released on June 12, 2007, and his album was released on Oct 30 2007. So is that the definition of new? Maybe Blake has hope yet!

By the way star, I just listened to his song and it is a great song. I have never heard it before. Maybe other people will do the same with Blake’s song.

Geffen/Universal has been developing and breaking Matt White for over a year. Compare that to the “instant success” demands of 19/Arista, it gives new meaning to the word “breaking” a new artist.

Since I no longer live in the USA, I’m not able to access Rhapsody. Would someone be kind enough to rip or transcribe this interview with Ryan Tedder on working with Blake. Thank you in advance for your goodness, with one big cyber smooch for your help.

Sometime in June last year, Blake talked to Father Dave Dwyer on The Busted Halo Show. It’s a podcast, and a downloadable mp3. If like me, you haven’t heard it, enjoy Blake chatting with a priest.

Blake has been known to call “How Many Words” one of his favorite tracks on the album, as it “came from a good place” and is “very relatable.”

Think this will be single number two? It’s a very pretty song and I know many people like it. It also puts me to sleep (I hope you won’t give me a cyber slap for saying that!), but if it means Blake will finally have a hit single in radio-land, I’m all for it. The quote came from here.

Isabel, ask and you shall receive. Here’s Ryan on Blake. It’s only a bit over two minutes.

I hope you can download from Sendspace. If not, hopefully, someone else can help you. I’ll be out of town this weekend.

    Oh, and HMW FTW! :biggrin_wp:

    I’ll start this out.
The 71 tattoo is a shared Tat with is blood brother. He told me once what the 71 signifies, but I guess the dementia has set in cause I can’t remember what he told me. I will ask next time I see him.

Thanks for the info, BigD. I’m always interested in knowing what tattoos mean for people. I’m in the process of designing one for myself… Fun!

pj, thanks for the file! :)

For some unknown reason, MTV Asia doesn’t have TRL on their schedule anymore ):

My friend from Malaysia told me, however, that she did see BA being played in between programs.

There’s a video countdown (which BA isn’t on yet, but it is on the voting list) and you can vote here: http://www.mtvasia.com/Onair/Shows/Pop10/index.html

Thanks for the Tedder link Isabel and thanks to PJ for the sendspace file. “It’s hard being a funky white dude!”

Oh Big D - just wanted to say that you are too young to be having dementia!

You know, I was just wondering…maybe the label is leaning more towards KMN, and they are waiting a bit longer for Lupe’s single to take off, for B. to benefit more from his increased exposure… Is that a bit of a stretch?

  10. 60 Brooke Jan 25th, 2008 at 4:50 am

Not to be too negative, but… What makes everyone so sure that he actually will be getting a second single?

  11. 61 Nic Jan 25th, 2008 at 5:54 am

    Brooke,

speculation on our part, I suppose, but even Taylor Hicks got a second single despite getting NO Top 40 or HAC airplay to speak of (he was basically just on the AC charts)…

    Crystal,

I wouldn’t be entirely surprised if KMN ended up being the second single, considering it’s so radio-friendly. Not to mention Lupe’s single was even played on Top 40 here and hip hop collaborations seem to be the ‘hot thing’ nowadays.

But I’d want HMW as the next single then ;).

It’s up to him to decide which ones to answer, and up to us as responsible fans to respect his privacy in the areas that he requests it.

Okay, Jenlar, WHY do I find that statement so hott? I…just do.
(and yes I agree, all the way)

Isabel– here I tune in after being away from the pc since the afternoon before, and you posted not one, but TWO links this morning that make me just love you more than ever! Because like, it’s been a couple of days since I waxed all starry, and happy over you, right? Those interviews were WONDERFUL. Everyone knows how i love to hear Blake talking about stuff in interviews, sharing his thoughts whatever, and the interview with the priest was just made of awesome. I can’t believe it took me so long to hear it!
    *hugs the MP3 thought*
The Ryan Tedder one was great too. I laughed! Spouse wondered what was so delightful, first thing in the morning like that–so I played it again for him to hear! LOL. So I got to laugh again. Thanks so much pj, for getting that for us to hear!

My PC has been acting very wonky since last week, and freezing and having some issues–I dunno why– but those were totally worth retrying 10 times to get. Thanks you Ladies, all.

PS. This quote yesterday made me seriously re-think the definition of “new” artist/music. For real.

According to iTunes, Matt White’s single was released on June 12, 2007, and his album was released on Oct 30 2007. So is that the definition of new?

That’s like saying there’s a “new” Daughtry song, off an album almost a year and a half old. So– how do we know really, what is New? I wonder. and if it IS truly “new” how long does it take to trickle down for mass consumption? Is there truly such a delay always?

    Isabel,

Loved that interview with Ryan T! I’m growing to love that guy more everyday! :)
