Tonight’s Voting

Thought I would repost this original Voting Strategies post in its’ entirety since we are now down to the last wire. Please please PLEASE copy and paste this anywhere you see fit - but make sure you copy the entire post, as it credits the Soul Patrol and we want to make sure they receive credit where it’s due for coming up with this.

If you are a Blake fan and have been voting for the past few weeks, you’ve likely seen these voting strategies before. These great voting methods were developed last year by our awesome friends in the Soul Patrol, and they helped propel Taylor to win the title of American Idol season 5.

My belief is that the best and most effective way to vote on American Idol is increasingly becoming text voting. Since you have no busy signals, you can get more votes through more quickly than constantly hitting redial and getting busy signals. If you have a Cingular phone with a text plan, OR if you have the disposable income to buy a Go Phone, texting is the way to go. You can even pre-program the votes into your phone - which is what I did last night.

Please don’t misunderstand - I am not telling you to spend money on voting for Blake. If you can’t, please don’t feel guilty for it - do what you can. Any way you can get them, every vote counts, and every vote matters. And remember - if you can, utilize more than one method of voting!

Voting FAQ’s:

1. Text Vote for Blake

TEXT VOTE, TEXT VOTE. TEXT VOTE with Cingular or AT&T Wireless Cell phones.

TEXT VOTING IS THE MOST POWERFUL WAY to VOTE

- No busy signals when text voting, NO CAPACITY LIMITS !!
- Each text vote counts !! 1,000 TEXT votes is much better than 12 land line calls!!

REACH OUT AND TOUCH SOMEONE with a Cingular wireless cell phone to VOTE for Blake. Every text vote COUNTS!

If you do not have a Cingular Wireless cell, then ask around and BORROW one!!

PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE if you are new to texting.

Only TEXT VOTE to the number that AI indicates on the TV screen.

TEXTING = MASSIVE VOTES for BLAKE

New Go Phone users:

1. Make sure that your Go Phone has charged for 24 hours
2. Make sure that you have funds in your account to text vote. Each text vote will deduct .05 cents from your account.

2. Land line calling strategies

As soon as you hear that the line has connected through, DO NOT listen to the full length of the message – hang up and hit redial.

The shorter connection will free up the busy lines to allow for MORE incoming votes.

It is HIGHLY recommended that Blaker Girls/Boys DO NOT call in on the 1st line. Most likely the general public will be calling the 1st line. Try the second line, and if it is busy too, don’t give up! Keep trying instead of switching over to the other line. Remember that in general, the second line is the least used.

3. Online voting through Skype.com and DialIdol.com

It is highly suggested that Blaker Girls/Boys should utilize MORE than one method of voting.

Use Skype.com or Dialidol.com automated software to get in more votes than you would just hitting redial on your phone. Remember that Skype now charges for calls to landline phones.

4. Do not split votes

Discuss Blake’s top 3 performances here!

There is no “theme” in particular for this week. The contestants will each sing 3 songs. According to Ryan Seacrest’s morning radio show in LA, the format for tonight’s show is 1) Judges’ choice, 2) Contestant’s choice, and 3) Executive Producers’ choice. In season 1, each contestant only sang 2 songs - a song they chose, and a song the judges chose for them. Season 2 was all weird - they sang 3 songs: a song they chose, one the judges chose for them, and one picked out of a bowl. Starting with season 3, the format went to the contestant’s choice, the judges’ choice, and a song picked by Clive Davis, the head of Sony/BMG, which is the record company that will eventually sign the winner and runner-up. While Clive has not been particularly great at picking songs for the contestants, he has made some very good choices for at least one of them (season 3’s Diana DeGarmo). So, why the format supposedly changes this year, no one knows yet. But that is the word on the street as of right now.

Tonight’s voting is SUPER important. If trends follow past seasons, there will be 3 lines per contestant. We’ll get Blake’s phone numbers posted for you ASAP once the show begins it’s east coast broadcast and we know the order of the performers. We’ll update the top of this post with them.

Remember that the most efficient way to vote, especially when the competition gets down to the wire like this, is text voting. If you have a Cingular or AT&T phone with a text plan, or have the disposable income to buy a Cingular Go Phone, text your votes as much as possible - each vote will definitely go through and there are no busy signals. If at all possible, text vote with one hand and dial on a landline or another cell with the other!

If you are unable to text, my suggestion is to utilize the 2nd or 3rd phone line that is provided for Blake. The “rest of America” will likely be using that first line. So don’t forget about those other 2 lines - you’re more likely to get less busy signals that way, and you should be able to get in more votes for Blake!

Also remember, if Blake’s voice is recorded, thanking you for voting for him - be rude to Blake! Hang up as soon as you hear his voice. The less you listen, the more you help him by being able to vote more. We all want to listen to his beautiful voice thanking us for voting for him, but I bet if we are REAAAAAALLY nice, we can get someone to snag it and make it downloadable. :)

Don’t forget to re-read our handy dandy voting strategies and tips here, which were provided a couple weeks ago by the Blaker Girls, and used by the Soul Patrol last year.

Update on Blake

The Blaker Girls just sent the following Myspace bulletin. It addresses rumors and speculation on Blake’s intentions in this competition. 

hey guys! i just wanted to address some issues/rumors that i’ve heard ’round the message boards, in emails, etc.

1. blake is in it to win it (as Randy would say!). please do not stop voting for blake because you think he doesn’t want to go all the way in this competition. he wants to go as far as the fans will take him. he feels so honored and humbled that you’ve all had such faith in him so far and knows you are the THE reason he is in the top 4! 

2. the first place contract is too restrictive and will stifle blake. NOT TRUE! all of the contestants have contracts that could be considered “restrictive”. therefore, the further you make it the better because you’ll get more exposure, more opportunities to sing, and better offers after the show is over. look at kelly clarkson and carrie underwood; they’re doing pretty well! lol :)

3. the sooner blake gets voted off, the sooner he’ll be reuinted with chris rich. NOT TRUE! blake and chris will see each other regardless of when blake leaves the show. at the very least, they’ll see each other at the finale show (where they do a group performance), then all of june for tour rehearsals, then ALLLL summer long during the tour. don’t worry! blake and chris will see plenty of each other.  

4. blake has said that winning isn’t everything. he said that because he knows that even if he doesn’t win, his life will go on and he’ll continue to do what he’s always done. he never thought he’d make it this far and feels that every week he’s here is a gift.PLEASE continue to vote just as much as you always have for Blake!! PLEASE do not assume he is safe and give your votes to someone else. It’s crunch time, Blakers! He’s ALMOST there, but as you all know, this is where it really counts. :)If you think that Blake should be our next American Idol, then please vote accordingly! :) Thank you all SO much for all that you’ve done for Blake. I know he is eternally grateful for all of your support. I’m constantly telling him how amazing you all are and that he really does have the BEST fans out there!!

Voting Strategies

This week, as we all know, is a HUGE week for us and for Blake. If he makes it past this week, he will be in the top 4 and only 2 eliminations away from the finale. Even if some of us are conflicted about whether or not we actually want Blake to be signed with Clive, I think the desire to see him on stage at the Kodak Theatre for the finale is universal. If we want that to happen, we have to VOTE.

While it is my personal belief that at this stage of the game, the votes that matter the most are the swing voters (aka the casual viewers who watch and only place a few votes) and the voters who vote based on the “best” performance of the night, we as Blake fans are a vital component to his success and whether or not he makes it through each round. Every vote helps.

If you are a myspace user and have “friended” the Blaker Girls, you have likely already seen the voting strategies below. Thanks to one of our highly astute readers/commenters, I received an email with these voting strategies, which I then forwarded to Kristi, the spokeswoman for the Blaker Girls. She agreed that this week’s voting is very important, and forwarded this out in a bulletin last night. These great voting methods were developed last year by our awesome friends in the Soul Patrol, and it is my understanding that they were implemented around this time in the season 5.
