ETA: Blake posted this to our incredibly awesome friends at Idolbored:
Just wanted to drop a line and say “Hello”
Much has been going on. Just got back from Norway with The Hollywood Knights, a charity organization to help raise money to fight off cancer. It was an amazing journey and hope to do more charitable work with them in the future.
On to news. In the next couple of weeks, I will have more detailed info on My Tour, a new label that is signing me and a new single, that should be out by October. Werd Up!
I just got done playing a bunch of characters in Common Markets latest music video, that should be out next month called Trouble Is. Look out for BOB BOBBERSON. Surprised
I’ll have some pics from The Meltdown and Norway up on my Myspace soon.
Thank you all for the Bday love and gifts. You are all to good to me and I just hope someday I can be so generous.
Much Love and Happiness - Blake
Sorry we’ve been lame blog mistresses of late. But hey, we still heart Blake!!!! And Sarah, I’m a jellus h8er. Just saying. Orlando is on the list!
Can you even believe it?! Things seem to be off to a good start for Blake with “Break Anotha” already being spun by 37 radio stations well ahead of its official 11/20 add date! The critics seem to be digging it too…Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Slezak writes:
After several listens, “Break Anotha,” with its opening blast of sirens and its hiccup-y beats, sounds like it could easily hold its own on Billboard’s Hot 100. In other words, it’s not just a “good for an Idol graduate” kind of single, but instead the kind of track I’d spend money to download. Oddly, Blake’s falsetto and the flurry of strings on the bridge is slightly reminiscent of J.Lo’s “Do It Well,” but his voice sounds nonetheless confident and radio-ready throughout. And Blake’s lyrical word of caution (”So desperate/Be your best friend/Sign you up just to cross you off his checklist”) about a chronic womanizer — complete with a breakdown that suggests that he might, in fact, be the cad in question — is a refreshing change of pace from “moment like this” goo.
And even those notorious music snobs over at Blenderappreciate what “Break Anotha” has to offer…
As we’d hoped, the song is semi-ridiculous, hyperactive and totally different from your typical Idol fare. Maroon 5, watch your back.
Check out a couple of other random items of interest after the jump!
UPDATE: Blake did give the crowd a surprise tonight! He added “She Loves The Way” into his solo set! Woot!!!
This is it…in a little less than an hour, the Idols will hit the stage to get it started one last time. Once again, Team Plaid’s Sarah will be on the scene to keep us informed of all the happenings in Manchester tonight. Watch for updates in the comments below! We could be in for some surprises if past tours are any indication. Check out the party that erupted onstage during last season’s final concert! Of course, it will be an emotional night for the Idols as well, as this chapter of their life comes to an end. Grab a tissue and watch the last Pop-Tarts tour webisode.
But don’t be sad it’s over - be happy that it happened! We’d like to thank everyone for contributing to the blog this summer by sharing your recaps, pictures, and videos with us. We couldn’t have kept this show running without you! As Blake fans, we’ll have lots of exciting things to keep us entertained in the weeks ahead. Please stay with us as we anticipate the release of A.D.D.…it’s only two months and three days away!
It’s the penultimate (heh, I love that word) show of the tour! Our very own Sarah and MJ are in the house tonight, and Sarah may be sending me updates throughout the night. In fact, I just got a text from her saying that Blake dressed up as a security guard, and his parents are there! Stay tuned for more, and as always, we welcome reports from anyone else who got to be in Manchester this evening!
Blake Lewis appeared 10 feet in front of me as an on-stage security guard. And immediately I knew it was B-Shorty. I couldn’t contain myself. So, bursting with unbridled knowledge, I said to the random stranger next to me with the 35mm telephoto lens and “After Show” sticker on her blouse, “That’s Blake Lewis!” She looked skeptical, but snapped a single shot in response.
Tonight’s show in Baltimore is a semi-homecoming show for Lakisha, since she was living in Maryland at the time she auditioned for American Idol. So, happy homecoming, Lakisha!
If you were at the show tonight, please let us know what you thought! As always, any pics and videos are welcome!
Last night’s show in Charlottesville was one that some might consider a hometown show for Chris Richardson. I’m not really sure which one he considers his hometown show… maybe both last night’s, and tomorrow night’s in Hampton. Anyway, where you there? Let us know what you thought of the show, and as always, if you have pics and/or videos, please share those with us too!
