We Want Your Recaps!

As most of you know, the American Idols Live tour finally kicks off this Friday, July 6, in Sunrise, FL. For the next 2 1/2 months, the top 10 contestants will travel around the country in one of the summer’s biggest tours, and five of your very own readers, posters, and/or admins will be there firsthand at the second stop of the tour in Tampa, FL this Saturday night. Yes, we are just slightly excited. In addition to those of us going on Saturday night, all of the admins here at Team Plaid are going to at least one tour stop, and we’ll do our best to report on all the details from the stops that we attend.

However, we obviously cannot cover 50+ tour stops alone, so here’s where you come in. We want your recaps!!! We know that there are lots of you out there who are going to a stop of the tour this summer, and we want to hear how your concert went! We know that you are fabulous writers, photographers, and videographers, and we’d love to put up the details of your Disney on Ice AI tour experience. We will open a blog post for each concert, so please feel free to post your recaps there. Or, simply email us at teamplaid@gmail.com with pics, links to photobucket accounts, and… recaps! Sure, the songs at each concert will be the same, but there are always fun little details that differ from city to city, and we love to know this stuff! And we especially want to know if you were lucky enough to score Meet and Greets and got to meet the Idols, or if you were just patient enough to wait by the busses for a quick hug, picture, and autograph!

Please use this space to find others who are going to your same tour stop. Feel free to post which city you plan to go to, but please DO NOT post detailed information about where you are sitting or eating beforehand, etc. If you would like to contact someone about meeting up at a specific concert, and you do not already have their contact info, please email us at teamplaid@gmail.com, and we’ll be happy to get y’all hooked up. But please, for your own safety, do not post your email address or any detailed information here.

Thanks to you all! Here’s to a summer of fun tour info!!

Blake Update from the Blaker Girls

For those of you without MySpace, here’s the latest update on Blake from the Blaker Girls. Enjoy!

Hey blakers-

Sorry it took me a while to get back to all of you. I got back from LA yesterday morning and went straight to work. Keep in mind that I went straight from the AI after party to the airport so I had no sleep! J It was all worth it though. Being at the shows this week was absolutely incredible and I’m so glad I was able to go. I even ran into a few Blaker Girls in the audience! It was so great to see Blake perform “You Give Love A Bad Name” live. After the show some woman thought I was Jordin and told me I did a great job! Haha. Blake’s mom was quick to correct her and let her know that I was a Blaker Girl!! On Wednesday, I got to walk the red carpet with his parents on Wednesday and was even interviewed! Who would’ve thought I’d be on the red carpet? A bunch of former Idol contestants were on the red carpet, too. It was fun catching up with Idol contestants from this season who I haven’t seen in a while (Chris Sligh, Rudy Cardenas, etc.). The finale show was so fun and I loved seeing all of the guest performers. Blake and Doug E Fresh were definitely my favorite! After the show we headed over to the after party. It was completely packed with the judges, contestants, former Idols, and random celebrities. Pictures from my trip will be up later this weekend, so keep an eye out.

Now for the part you care about – Blake!

Discussion - Finale Results

This is it y’all. Tonight is the last night we’ll see Blake perform on the American Idol stage. What a long strange trip it’s been from “Somewhere Only We Know” to the “This is My Now.” I’ve rewatched last night’s performances and what strikes me every time is Blake’s obvious joy at being on stage. When his eyes scan the audience and look into the balconies of cheering fans, my tear ducts go into overdrive. It doesn’t help when I see Chris R, Phil and Sligh cheering him on with such pride and passion on their faces.

I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t crazy about Blake’s audition, but he won me over week after week as he effortlessly oozed charisma, originality, style, charm and talent just by being himself. I looked forward to his performances every Tuesday, learning not to fret over his song choices or his ability to handle a particular genre or theme. I recognized him not only as a musician who understands himself as an artist, but also as a kick ass producer.

Will Blake Lewis win American Idol? I don’t know, but we’ll find out tonight. I do know this: Blake Lewis has won me as a fan and I‘m greedily anticipating an album of original music. Win or lose this competition, Blake’s future is so bright he better wear shades.

What started the madness…

Since we are at what some consider the mid-point of the season (the “real” season anyway), I decided to do a little persual through youtube today to see what fun videos were out there. Alas, I came upon three of the best ones that were part of the beginning of what I like to refer to as “Blake Mania.” Enjoy!
