You know he HAS to appear on both The View and Ellen. They all just LOVED him. Those will be great shows.
My tivo is going to freaking be working overtime. Heh.
Pj:
If you want to add this clip up front too, feel free.
It’s from the CBS Early Show. Gulianan Depandi is certainly a Blake fan. He looks so hot!
Enjoy!

FWI - Blake’s EP is 24 on the iTunes charts. Jordin’s is 20, but keep in mind that Blake doesn’t even have a real single. No knew song. Not bad at all.
You also have to consider that most Blakers already purchased his downloads from American Idol, so landing at 24 is actually really good. I wonder if AI will ever release the MP3 download figures for the contestants? I have a strong feeling Blake is #1.
Tara, I would hope that the Blakers must know how important it is to buy that EP. This is the first test of his selling power. The first stigma to overcome.
I would never advocate purchasing mutliple copies of the EP for yourself. All the SP/ Clatmate stuff was not good, IMHO. But it is important to show that poeple are buying his music. The AI downloads aren’t eligible for Billboard. These are.
I consider the one time purchase a new album. New format, if you will. Also, if you do know someone who would like it (not that you want to foist it upon) who can’t afford it I see no reason not to gift the EP too.
I agree, when the figures come out, Blake will probably be #1, but that still won’t put him on the Billboard charts and get the added press and legitimacy that that provides.
I think Blake may be the first Idol runner up not to have a new single to release. I can’t believe they didn’t think about that when they had the songwriting competition.
Didn’t Bo release the same single as Carrie, with “Vehicle” as the B side? I think it was just released like a week later. He did have that other (crappy) song, but I think it was kind of like “My Destiny” - sung once on the show and never sung again.
But, with them releasing this EP for Blake right now, I don’t think that he will be releasing “This is My No(w)” as a single… thank GOD.
What they SHOULD do is release YGLABN as the A side, and then one of the other songs as a B side or something. If they can get permission from Bon Jovi to do that.
I guarantee YGLABN would outsell “This is My No(w)” if it were done that way.
Does anybody know if the the downloads from Itunes work with IPODs only? Do they work with other MP3 players?
Yes, thank God No(w) is not on the EP. I can’t stomach listening to that song, even if Blake’s singing it. All the new releases are really cheesy, so I’m glad Blake didn’t have to release a crappy song that he doesn’t believe in.
I bought it as soon as I saw it. Then I convinced some friends to buy it too. And I’m working on some other folks too. This is very important!
iTunes downloads only work on iPods until you burn them to a CD. After that, you can take them off the CD and do whatever you want with them.
I’m pretty sure AI downloads don’t have DRM, so you should be fine.
If not, then, like Siobhan said, just burn them and rip them and you’re good.
I just downloaded the EP and all the other singles. That picture is quite nice!
Ok pj, this interview has to be posted up front too.
It’s from this morning on Fox News and Blake is as happy he can be.
Jordin is with him too. They are ad adorable they can be.
Check it out:

Okay. Blake needs to go on the View. The Today Show and Live with Regis and Kelly were Jordin supporters. Plus, the Today Show said some really me things about Blake. Its unfortunate that he probably won’t be able to be on the View (considering the hectic schedule).
I will never stop loving Jeh Jeh Pruitt. Hee

Whoa! Gonna set tivo now! Thanks for all of this!
I’ve missed y’all today. What a day for my internet connection to break! Thanks for all of the clips, links, and good info!
RollTide, your headband will go out tomorrow because I missed the mail today!
Don’t forget, Plaid is the new black!
jenlar, can we still order the headband?
iTunes EP chart watch:
Jordin 2
Blake 4
Singles chart watch:
TIMN 28
YGLABN 45
Erinn- Yupp… I just need a mailing address. Easiest way is a message thru MySpace, I think.
Everybody go to Larry King’s website and ask Blake a question! Do it! Now! (Don’t y’all just hate how I say that?
)
Okay, I added the links to the vids on the main post. I’m starting to think we should add a tab at the top for appearances like MJ has, but on the other hand, they will fall off once the tour starts. Too bad the blog doesn’t lend itself to a sticky.
Anyway, thanks for the links. Keep ‘em coming!
Yay for the iTunes numbers. That’s great considering YGLABN has been on sale on the AI site. Too bad those sales don’t count.
jenlar, I don’t have a MySpace, and don’t really want one… is there any other way I can contact you about the headbands? I’d love one! (I’ve been wearing my plaid sneakers every Tuesday and Wednesday for weeks because I think it’s good luck for Blake!)
pj, make a tab anyway. They may drop off, but at least people can find them quickly. You can just make it for all media. That way you can include links to articles, tour reviews, album/ single reviews. All kinds of things.
Erinn, I heart Jeh Jeh too. He has the coolest job evah. I saw him this morning attempting to beatbox with Blake.
Jenlar - thanks so much girl! You rock!
Ok, I can see the songs on iTunes now. I don’t know why I couldn’t this morning. Man that pic of Blake they’ve got with it is HOT.
I’m in for downloading his EP again, even though I already have every single download he had from the AI site. At least my iTunes account won’t keep alerting me that the AI files couldn’t be found.
Oh, and iTunes work with other mp3 players. My husband doesn’t have an iPod, but he gets songs off my iTunes all the time. Of course the first time he did this, he deleted my fav Snow Patrol song, nearly resulting in our divorce…..But, you just have to save the song as a file in your documents, and then I think you can put it in whatever your program is.
Thanks jenlar, messaged and friended!
Just saw this posted on a message board I’m on. I don’t have a source, but it sounds like Blake to me. What a sweetheart. :)
Within minutes of his – and everyone’s – hearing Ryan Seacrest announce Jordin Sparks as this year’s American Idol, Blake Lewis was backstage, facing the press. “It’s bittersweet right now,” he said, “because it’s over, and like three seconds before I got on the stage with Jordin at the end of the show – it was just like, ‘Oh, man, it’s done. This is like the last moment I get to step on the American Idol stage, and the journey has truly been a blessing.’ ” And just what was it Blake whispered in Jordin’s era as Ryan’s was breaking open the envelope? “I told her two things,” said Blake. “I said, ‘I love you, Jordin Sparks.’ And I said, ‘If it comes down to me singing this last song, will you do a duet with me?’ “
Sorry, if this was already posted somewhere. I had wondered what he whispered to her. How sweet!
HAAAAAAA. I loved the M & J interview. Blake & Ace together!!
I bought the EP too, even though I bought ‘em all from americanidol.com already. I wonder if they’ll ever reveal the download numbers from there?
Anyway, thanks for all the appearance info! I’m sure he’ll get around to The View eventually. I remember Kellie Pickler announced her record deal on there!
Hey guys thanks for all I Tunes info. Blake is doing great considering the fact he will not have any new single.
Who cares? It’s better for him. Who wants “This is My Now: in his repertoire. Ugh!
Blake will break the charts once his new record comes out later in the year.
By the way, did anyone noticed when Ryan asked Simon who he thought was going to win, he almost looked a bit dissapointed it wasn’t Blake.
He defended Blake when he said: Based on the LAST song, congratulations Jordin. And then he just put on a face like whatever.
I still feel that after Melinda left, Simon had a softer spot for Blake rather than Jordin. THe problem was that the TPTB always wanted a Jordin win. JMHO.
Those were my thoughts exactly. Just like Erin mentioned before, I think Simon wanted to annoint Blake Tuesday evening, but couldn’t. Blake wasn’t having it, LOL. I don’t think Simon is crazy about Jordin. Anyways, it worked out for the best I think.
Hoppy- mail me jennifer at jenlar dot com and I’ll send you one.
That Jeh Jeh guy is great! He seemed like he was loving every minute of that, as was our boy!
This made me laugh sooooo hard. Love it.
Love all the clips too, thank you ladies! Poor bShorty is so tired but still excited and going with the flow. He’s so sweet. I totally believe he would have asked Jordin to duet with him on the last song if he won. That’s the kind of guy he is! Perfect manners and kindhearted to the end. Doesn’t this make you feel good for supporting him? We didn’t just support unbelievable talent, we also supported one of the few good guys left in this business!
I agree. Simon could have said a lot more about Blake. He could have been one-sided like Randy, but he defended him. He repeated said that Blake was a risktaker and a performer when he could have just said that Jordin sang TIMN better.
Just thinking about how “nice” Simon was compared to Randy makes me wonder if hell froze over. A lot of great things happened in this season, but a lot of surprises, too. We broke so many AI “curses” and “trends.” The unpredicatibility was insane. We never knew who was safe.
It was a great season no matter what anyone says (now the finale is another story).
Yes, it was a great season, only because I found a favorite candidate to cheer for. There wasn’t a lot of variety on the girl side; I think people tuned out when they can’t find a favorite to root for. Next year, I hope they get rid of the celebrity mentors and give more airtime to the contestants. Also, I wouldn’t mind if they fire Randy. Ryan is also pretty useless.
Yea. I started rooting for Blake after the first audition. I was hooked the whole way through.
Agree with the celebrity mentor thing. I don’t like having so much focus on professionals. I would rather support up and coming artists.
Excellent point Tara. They initially kept saying the girls were so much better than the guys. In reality, there were 5 divas all with very similar styles and the rest were just second rate singers. That got cut down to 3 divas pretty quickly, but there wasn’t much diversity. Melinda is an exceptional talent, but she wasn’t original in any way. I still wish it had been her and Jordin in the finals though. That would have made it fun at least and I wouldn’t have been so upset if she’d walked off with the title because she needed (and deserved) it more. After all, she and Blake were really the only two who were consistent every week.
The guys were far more interesting and diverse. And I think a few of them could have stuck around longer if it wasn’t for Sanjaya. For me, Blake stood out as an original talent from day one though. His was the only performance I really really really looked forward to every week.
I don’t mind the mentors as much as I dislike all the guest performances. I’d much prefer if that time was spent letting us get to know the contestants like they used to. However, I wish they’d get mentors that were consistently more contemporary. I mean Diana Ross, Tony Bennett, Peter Noone, Lulu, Barry Gibb. I’m almost 42 and those people are waaaay before my time. How can they expect contestants 29 and under to relate to them? At least J-Lo, Bon Jovi and Gwen Stefani are still actually recording.
I wish they’d make up their mind who they are trying to appeal to. It’s clear they wanted younger finalists this year (unlike Taylor who appealed to the older crowd and so did Kat). The majority of mentors were has-beens, yet the guest artists were current. Then, it came down to the finale, and the only current artist was Green Day but singing a remake of an old song? Then, Bette Midler and Tony Bennett? Who do they want to watch this? Our mothers? Yet, they’ll tune out for the more current artists. Are they confused about their demographics?
On the Today Show, they just said that Jordin and Blake will be on next Thursday.
Agreed. Chris Sligh and Brandon Rogers are two male finalists who went WAY before their time. Of course, the argument could also be made that they just didn’t do what it takes to develop a huge voting fanbase from the start. Because yeah, a good portion of Sanjaya’s fans are under the age of 18 and we know how those 14 year olds with cell phones are. But last year, Taylor’s fans weren’t all under 18, but he still managed to develop a fanbase that stuck by him. That’s really important in the long run, too.
IMO, the biggest advantage that American Idol provides for its’ contestants is an instant fanbase.
No, they just know how to appeal to ALL of them. Don’t forget, Gwen Stefani had a performance too in the finale, as well as Kelly Clarkson (one of the biggest top 40 acts right now) and Carrie Underwood (another big current act). Yeah, they’re Idol alums, but they didn’t HAVE to come back.
Bette Midler wasn’t the best choice for a performer, but I personally liked the rest of them. I think it’s good to have those artists because they open up whole new eras of music to kids who may not know anything about them.
And exactly who would they get to mentor for weeks like British Invasion? Amy Winehouse? I don’t think it ALL needs to be current artists unless they are going to have a current theme every week.
Yes please!! :)
Here’s a really good interview of Blake. A lot is what we’ve already seen or read but there are some tidbits in it. http://uk.tv.ign.com/articles/791/791742p1.html I was surprised to read that he almost didn’t get YGLABN on Bon Jovi week.
LOL RollTide. I love Amy, but she’s a little too, um, rough around the edges for AI, methinks.
Well just getting into people who were famous during my lifetime would be a step up. Granted I’m talking about the 2nd British invasion, I guess! But that’s within my lifetime! Most of the contestants were born in the 80s, so how about Sting/The Police, Duran Duran, Midge Ure & Ultravox, Depeche Mode, Annie Lennox, Erasure, Alison Moyet, Depeche Mode, Boy George, Human League … I could go on. Blake likes at least some of the above, and with the exception of LaKisha (who knew no one but divas/gospel/AI stars) I’d bet most of the others could do something cool with one of the above.
Can someone please re-upload the CBS show? It’s expired!
Thanks!.
Siobhan, I love all those artists, too, but I think that’s pretty much what we got with Gwen Stefani’s inspiration week. ;)
I didn’t download the CBS show. Did anyone else?
Siobhan, have you ever seen Never Mind the Buzzcocks? Midge was an occasional guest. This just gives me images of him depressedly adivising the Idols “not to suck” and mumbling on about how he was the one who really invented Live Aid.
I think Depeche Mode would make great mentors! Seriously. Dave Gahan especially. He seems pretty laid back these days, and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Martin Gore is just crazy, so that would be fun.

Thank you very much on keeping us updated with all Blake-goodness! It helps in our Blake-AI-withdrawal.
Erinn that’s hysterical. It sounds like something Midge would say. I met him donkey’s years ago with Bob. He can be a really funny guy and would make a great mentor. And Depeche Mode would be awesome. They could certainly teach the kids a few things. And it would be a lot more fun. Hey how about Peter Cox from Go West too? Awesome voice and still handsome even without his hair. Darn it. AI should hire me to contact mentors. :-)
This is one of the things I like best about Blake; he never once acted like he was above Idol. Whatever he thought about it in private, he just dove right into the cheese on TV. Very professional of him!
Blake really sounds at ease in front of the media. He is a natural in front of the camera, can go through pretty much any topic, and these advantages serves him well as he makes the publicity rounds post-finale. I see that the summer tour will be 50 to 60 dates again this year, so tune in to see Blake on TV, cable, radio, internet in the meantime.
