Blake’s Performance

Well, my insomnia did some good. I finally found Blake’s AWESOME performance from last night on YouTube! The audience loved him!

I’ll be back later in the day with some backstage goodies and news reports; I bet at least a few of them will mention Blake.

I can’t sleep either. Good sleuthing! Just an incredible performance. I’m sure it will rank in the best ever performances on Idol for a long time to come…if not for good.

Hi guys, I’m still up voting on the west coast. Blake became a star tonight. This is the elusive “IT” performance of the season.

GO TARA AND TEAM PLAID WEST COAST!

Yeah, insomnia prevails in Georgia. I was productive, tho!

    Go see the pretty pictures!!!

Hi Tara. I really feel y’all on the west and east coasts on nights like this. Idol shows an hour earlier in cst. My heart goes out.

At least you have inspirational viewing to keep you going. :wink1_tb:

Wow, I am exhausted today. East coast voting is REALLY rough on 4 hour voting night. But voting was totally worth it. I got in 600 text votes, and probably that many phone votes too in the last two hours using 2 phones.

Blake was a freaking rockstar last night. Amazing. I am so glad that the Blake we all know and love is back. He’s all any of our local dj’s wanted to talk this morning! YAY!

Going to a 2 hour meeting… be back in a bit!

I can’t believe people are still saying he has a weak voice. There was nothing weak about that vocal last night. He belted out that chorus, and his delivery at the beginning was perfect. I didn’t hear anything wrong, no pitchiness or being out of tune.

Whatever - I floved it!! It’s like…The Killers meets Justin Timberlake. I can’t wait to hear how the studio version sounds!

You Give Love A Bad Name is currently at #58 top downloads on iTunes. :)

Thanks, LB. Now I can watch at work when I need a break!

Star, I’m with you. I don’t know why anyone would say he has a weak voice. It boggles my mind. :)

There are those that will never get him. It’s all subjective. I don’t understand people that don’t get Chris D and I’ll never get Taylor. It doesn’t mean that Blake isn’t talented but there will always be people that don’t see it.

I have to agree with Randy that it was the most original interpretation/performance on AI ever. Blake is unique and is being noticed. If that performances doesn’t get him a contract, nothing will. :clap_tb:

    I agree also STAR.
Blake can really SINg. I think his voice sounded amazing last night as when he sang I Need To Know.
He belted it out.. Love love his voice.

heck I love everything about him. I am so excited the radio Dj’s are digging him. Here in Houston on my local station they loved him too.

Blake was awesome last night. You can’t please everybody. The more bashers and haters there are out there talking about him, the better. It just means that he’s the front runner and they’re scared for their favorites. I only had 2 hours of sleep last night. These four hour voting evenings are killing me, but if it means Blake is safe, it’s worth it.

Finally got a chance to see it, and it’s simply out of this word awesome! I can’t stop watching it now!

How people can still say he can’t sing is beyond me, it’s just… there’re no words!

Blake, you’re amazing! Thank you for being you!

maracaibo, you’re in H-town? I’m from there! Which morning show?

RollTide, very cool about iTunes. How are the other songs doing? I can’t access it here at work.

The Idol tour dates have been announced.

I’m off to view them now.

Chris Sligh was on Idol Replay this morning on his local Fox Carolina station…he talks about all the contestants performances, including Blake :-)

Ooh, thanks, Stevo. Can’t wait to watch it.

Look, we aren’t going to be able to change anyone’s minds who already doesn’t like him, for whatever reason they have. They’ll throw out every excuse in the book, i.e. he’s weak voiced (no, he’s not the strongest singer in the bunch, but he’s no Sanjaya either); he’s a gimmick (if something is as integral a component to a performing style as beatboxing is to his, AND it’s been part of his style for years, no, it’s not some gimmick he picked up to audition for AI. It’s part of WHO HE IS. I think I may go back to that MTV interview and transcribe exactly how his friends describe what he does as a one-man band and post that. What he does takes f’n talent. Period.); etc etc. And then when a fan stands behind him and his talent or performance, the disclaimer comes: “I thought we could snark on ANYONE”… Why, yes, yes you can… but don’t expect us to take it sitting down. I’m ready for battle. Bring it f’n ON.

You Give Love A Bad Name is currently at #58 top downloads on iTunes.

Wooooo hoooooooooooooooo! THAT, my friends, speaks for itself. This boy can f’n sell music!

If that performances doesn’t get him a contract, nothing will.

Exactly what one of the recappers on yahoo (or maybe it was Slezak at EW, I can’t remember LOL) said. IF that did not seal a top 2 placement and possibly a win for him, it at LEAST sealed him a recording contract.

Don’t let the naysayers get to you. ENJOY him. He’s actually a threat to win, and he just might pull it off.

Blake is here to stay. Period. The end.

Oh, and PJ - I hear you’ve been trying to make sense of the sh!t today… you are amazing. I don’t know how you do it. LOL

The tour starts in Florida and I am definitely going to the Tampa stop, if not the first show in Sunrise too. I also want to go to the last stop in Manchester, since it’s on a Saturday. Unfortunately, Chicago isn’t on a weekend. :(

Tacoma is the weekend before my vacation week though… hmmmm.

  19. 19 pj May 2nd, 2007 at 2:52 pm

    Sarah, party in Tacoma? :)

  20. 20 RollTide May 2nd, 2007 at 2:59 pm

RE - what other songs are charting on iTunes….
    Let’s see:

Wanted Dead or Alive - 46
    Livin’ On A Prayer - 48
You Give Love A Bad Name - 57
You Want To Make A Memory - 71 (no one sang this, right?)
    Have A Nice Day - 84
    This Ain’t A Love Song - 92

So apparently Bon Jovi’s appearance really paid off for them.
