    Woah. Talk about time warp.

  2. 2 RollTide May 24th, 2007 at 11:33 am

Thanks pj for putting that up. :)

That was the best moment of the finale by far. I’m so happy for Blake that he got to do that. In all the post show interviews he is super excited about it, so that makes me happy. :)

M***F**** crazy good. Not everyone is down for the old school soon to be new school flavor just shown here. But oh my goodness, to make all those people get off their chairs and get in the moment is talent. They created a moment, and that is something I would pay money to see.

    Blake…..Oh My God….Uh…Uh….Oh My God….

he regains street cred with Seattle hip hop after hating down that abomination of a song “Now” with this performance.

    BShorty. Nice. :tongue_wink_ee:

That was so HOT. Best of the night IMO.

I really want Blake to be successful, he so much deserves it. I hope everything works out for him in the near future.
Can’t wait to hear about his record deal.

Ohh pj… I love you for posting that clip! Somebody at the BlakerGirls livejournal said that that with this performance Blake (loosely quoted) “handed American Idol their @$$3$ on a shiny silver platter made of win.” I don’t think that it could ever be said any better than that!

BTW… we need to (un)affectionately refer that flaming-wad-of-cheezwhiz-melted-skittle-on-a-blowpop-fondue finale song as NO(w)!

Now I’m off to watch again, with the kids, since they fell asleep last night! B-Shorty FTW!!!

Oh… Cara… your headband went in the mail yesterday! Hope that you like it!

so can’t wait for the tour!

Heh, I’ve watched this performance on my DVR over and over.

    Jenlar, very cool! Thank you!

Oh, and I agree about NO(w).

Here’s the MTV article. It has some videos, too. :)

    Just my opinion.

Best moments of last night’s show:

    - Blake and Doug E Fresh duet
    - Blake and Jordin duet (thought it was cute)
    - Melinda duet with Bebe and Cece Winan (Melinda looked beautiful!)
    - Kelly Clarlson performances

    Worst Moments:
    - Bette Midler, Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, did I mention Bette Midler?
    - Golden Idols (DISASTER, really awkward to watch)
    - Clive speech (Boring)
    - Carrie Underwood - her voice annoys me for some reason; she’s been on too many times this season.
    - Taylor Hicks - weird and spastic. He didn’t sound so good either.

  9. 9 Sarah May 24th, 2007 at 12:36 pm

The only really bad parts of the show for me were Bette Midler and the Golden Idols awards. And the fact that there wasn’t even a taped message from Fantasia. That was really bad show to me, because although I understand her obligation to “The Color Purple”, every other Idol winner was there, and they could have at least had a taped message from her. I know she was on earlier in the season, but this is the FINALE. And every other Idol winner was there!

Carrie and Kelly were not great on their solo performances. And I thought Jordin and Blake did not sound good together at all. He would have sounded MUCH better with Melinda. *sniff*

    The best?

    1. Blake and Doug E Fresh (the best and coolest thing ever on that stage - even my brother said that Blake’s beatboxing was better.)
    2. Melinda with BeBe and CeCe
    3. Taylor on the Beatles medley. Oh. My. God. That is classic Taylor and it was FANTASTIC. His solo performance was great too… he was in very good voice, and that’s my favorite song on his album
    4. Kelly on the Beatles medley (though a pic of her top should be featured on ONTD).
    5. Ruben. What a sweetie. I hope he gets a huge bump in sales from his appearance, because he was in great voice, and he totally deserves it.

I love Kelly as a rocker chick. I really do. But if she put out a straight blues album, I’d buy it in a HEARTBEAT. That is her bread and butter.

I also loved that they had current top 40 musicians (Gwen, Green Day) and then followed right along with Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson, and Tony Bennett. Only on American Idol (and the Grammy’s but you know what I mean, heh)…

Agree best part of the night was Blake/Doug E Fresh

It was great that Melinda looked so happy and relaxed, she sounded amazing as always, but she finally looked like she really belonged there.

(I also loved Blake whispering to Jordin- so cute!)

I wanted to mention something but it’s not certain; just optimistic. So grain of salt, people!

My friend (who I went to college with and she went to HS with Blake) was at the finale (I’ll give more details this weekend as I get them) and an after party Blake was at. Prior to the parties, I noticed that Blake seemed unsure in the press about his recording future - just a lot of hopes and wishes, etc.

But my friend said there was a rumor buzzing heavily at the party that Blake was getting signed soon and this is the part she is unsure of - but he was possibly approached during/after the party about getting signed with Clive.

Suspiciously, as of this morning, all his interviews with the press are more certain about his future with the only uncertainty in his mind being the release date.

It’s only circumstantial evidence and these reports are always alive but my friend said it seemed pretty clear to everyone at the party that Blake would be signed.

ETA: The thing I find interesting - is I just noticed a similar report is on TWoP and the scary boards. So who knows?

Interesting insider stuff, LB2! Thanks for sharing. I can’t wait to see how this all unfolds for Blake.

He rattled off some interesting names of peeps that he would like to work with in the MTV article. :)

  13. 13 maracaibo May 24th, 2007 at 3:31 pm

Thanks LB2! That puts me at ease, of course he has to get signed.
I am very positive we will have the official news soon.

By the way, I found a great interview from the CBS Early shoe with Guliana Depandi. I think she has the hots for Blake. Ha.

Blake looks HOT!. Also Doug E Fresh says that Blake definitely has a future in the music industry. Yay.

    CHeck it out:

I think I’ve read before that after the show, they go straight to the press for interviews, etc. After the interviews, they head back to their dressing rooms, and if I’m remembering correctly from past seasons, are approached then with the beginnings of details about a contract, etc.

For some reason, I recall a story from season 2 of both Clay and Ruben having signed on the dotted line before they ever left the Kodak on that Wednesday. So, I would not be surprised if he was approached in his dressing room after the interviews and before the after parties.

By the way, I found a great interview from the CBS Early shoe with Guliana Depandi. I think she has the hots for Blake. Ha.

If this is the same Guiliana that hosts E! News with Ryan Seacrest, she’s engaged. LOL. To Bill whateverhisnameis who won the first season of “The Apprentice”. Smart girl. Businessmen are ALWAYS a good choice when in the market for a husband. Especially ones that work for Donald Trump.

There’s a hilarious poll on EW asking what the worst coronation song is. Obviously, I voted for This Is My Now … only because they forced poor Blake to sing it in front of 25 million viewers. The real worst song IMO is Do I Make You Proud. I was just imagining Blake trying to belt out DIMYP … wouldn’t have been pretty. NO(W) doesn’t look so bad after all.

I wonder if TPTB knows how much these songs are despised and mocked by AI fans. Why force the winner to sing such crap? Just don’t get it.

Somewhere today I read that while Jordin talked to the press after the show last night, the handlers whisked Blake through it like he was already a big star. They said that maybe he was because when they went by the fans, they started shrieking loudly. :laugh_tb:

I’ve read so many recaps of last night’s show and almost everyone mentions Blake with Doug E. Fresh as one of the highlights. A lot say Blake was better.

  18. 18 mindy May 25th, 2007 at 12:37 pm

does anyone have an mp3 of the blake and doug e fresh song?? it was so hott!! if they would have let him do that the night before, he would have won! but he’s a winner in my heart anway!! BLAKE!! *swoon*

  19. 19 Siobhan May 25th, 2007 at 10:09 pm

I actually thought Blake out-beatboxed Doug E myself. He had more melody going on in his, Doug E’s was more traditional. Now, I have to admit that is not my kind of music. But I totally loved seeing Blake get so into it and that made me really enjoy it and get out of my seat. It was by far the most exciting, most creative moment of the night.

I thought Taylor sounded much worse than when he was on the show. And he looks too “Hollywood” now between the slimmer him and the hair. He has totally sold out. I guess the harmonica bit was an attempt to reconnect. His new single isn’t going to do anything for him chartwise.

I was blown away by Ruben though. I didn’t watch AI that season and what I’ve seen on YouTube and in clips, I just didn’t think he was all that great. But he was the most “on” of all the former idols vocally and I really enjoyed him. Kelly was hoarse and Carrie hit some sour notes.

I also thought it was weird that Fantasia couldn’t even phone in a message. They didn’t even mention her.

The part about Clive’s speech I liked was that he talked about how well Chris Daughtry has done. I loved that. Just odd.

This was the single most entertaining performance of the finale!!

  21. 21 Brooke Jun 1st, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Best part of the finale. I have it on my TiVo and I watch it all the time. I cant get enough of that “Oh my god!” part.

You know, that was probably the dullest Idol finale I’ve ever seen. I prefer regular Wednesday night shows over that! The part I just couldn’t stand was Green Day with that John Lennon cover, whatever it was. I walked out of the room. I mean, “End the Killing”? Sure it’s a good message and all, but really. This is the Finale, people! It was just a little depressing. And I didn’t see any of those funny little skits they do for every Finale. I was a little disappointed. But the Blake beatboxing part was very good, 10 out of 10!
