Keep an eye on USA Today. They usually are the first to get song choices. I remember they got the Queen songs last year, and of course last week they got the Bee Gees selections. I wanna say they revealed last year’s top 3 songs too, but I’m not totally sure.

I tried to look at their Idol Chatter Blog just now but I can’t get on it for some reason.

Oh Thank God. I was so worried about Blake singing She Loves the Way in front of all those kids. He took out all the sexually explicit stuff. He might have a hard time making it his first single. I love the original lyrics, but they are not kid friendly.

I must say though, I really want to hear him perform Dumpty Humpty. Thats my fav and Jealousy is good, too.

My absolute favorite Blake original is Dumpty Humpty. I wish he would have sung that on his mini concert! I actually think that song would be a great song for him..
Emotional Waterfalls and Jealousy are great too, I hope he can include then in his album.

Are we sure they are going to have Clive song picks at all? I heard that maybe Clive won’t even participate after all on Top 3 night?
So who knows?

TOTS and SOWK for the finale would be great.

Clive not participating is just a rumor, I think. I believe it was started because people are speculating about reasons why Jordin is supposedly reprising a song from earlier in the season. Some have speculated that it’s because Clive may not be picking songs for the contestants this year, so they are doing a new song, like usual, and then reprising a song they’ve already done in the place of Clive’s choice.

But that is just speculation. From what I understand it hasn’t been confirmed one way or the other, so I’m going with that the week will be set up the same way it has been since season 3 - with Clive’s choice, the judges’ choice, and the contestant’s choice.

The hometowns always put the ceremonies, parades, concerts, etc together. AI just makes arrangements for the contestants to get back and I believe they also arrange for a bodyguard/entourage/etc to go along with the contestants. But the actual ceremonies and such are put together by the hometown.

Seattle and Bothell did a great job, then. He got two concerts and the NA!

BTW, I didn’t notice he wore a Blue Scholar’s tshirt during his session with Martina McBide. I love that he’s a pimper. :)

I am worried about that FU song, I don’t know how that is going to come across.
Who is this guy neverknew? Is he for real?

But I am also excited that he’s happy with all his three songs. So maybe Clive does want him.

I am just worried that he may get totally slammed by the judges if he does this.
But maybe it will be a WOW moment. Who knows?
I also heard a rumor somewhere, I don’t remember where, sorry, that for his personal choice he was planning to do a regaee song. But this is also speculation.

I just hope the FU song he is planning to do will not cost him the competition. I want to see him in that finale.

I *think* never knew helps mod the Blaker Girls LJ community (but she goes by a different name there), along with one of the other head Blaker Girls. So, I do believe never knew is a trustworthy source. :)

What wasn’t in the videos is Blake addressing the crowd after his five-minute beatbox tirade. He didn’t pull a “watch American Idol and vote for me” speech. Instead, he hugged Sazi and Geologic and told the crowd that he and Sabzi have been friends since junior high. He said: “The first time I rocked a mic, Sabzi was on Rhodes.” That’s a keyboard for those non-musicians out there.

So not only does Bshorty keep it real by wearing a Blue Scholars shirt on national television while talking to Martina McBride (talk about representin’ the 206), he also backs it up by spending time celebrating the success of his friends after a ridiculous day filled with TV appearances, performances and cameras constantly in his face.

This is why I like this guy. He really cares about the music, first and foremost. Looks like that Blue Scholars show was off the hook!

As far as an FUTPTB? I’m guessing it won’t be Play The Funky Music White Boy. heh. hmmm. This is is gonna be fun!

Oh and his choice isnt one he has sung before — its a new one - but from an artist he has been wanting to sing…

SCION posted that on the AI boards, apparently. So that would rule out 311, heh. I know he’s been wanting to sing Maroon 5 and Robin Thicke, neither of which would clear. But that’s always subject to change, I guess. I can’t think of a Maroon 5 song offhand that could be interpreted as an FU, and I’m not too familiar with Robin Thicke’s music.

Someone in that thread on IDF mentioned they’d heard Blake had been wanting to sing Imogen Heap’s “Hide & Seek” a capella…I’ve heard that song before but I never really paid attention to the lyrics.

I love Hide and Seek - I can think of a great string arrangement he could do with that song. But I doubt that’s the FU song being referred to. Not FU enough.

Someone else on that board seems to know his songs this week and is pretty excited. I read TWoP a lot and both posters are even-handed Blake fans (they acknowledge when he’s done poorly). So when they’re excited about his choices, I tend to trust it. We’ll see how it goes.

Has anyone suggested Let Go by Frou Frou (also Imogen Heap)? There’s this great line, “put down that remote, don’t you know that all this stuff’s a sideshow.” It would be an artisit he’s wanted to perform and fits the FUTPTB catagory nicely. so glad local blakers were able to join us on friday. and for those of you who missed it, thank goodness for youtube, right? lots of pics up on blakergirls.com/images if you haven’t seen them yet.

for those of you who didn’t read the last bulletin on this, KEEP VOTING FOR BLAKE!!! HE WANTS TO BE IN THE FINALE (and win, duh!). the only song revealed so far is ‘roxanne’ by the police (chosen by paula). BUT i can tell you that his other 2 songs are going to be AMAZING!!!!!! i can’t say what they are, but know they that are a LONG time coming. you guys are gonna freak out. in a good way. :)

blake and the girls will be on jay leno tonight so be sure to check it out. he said that he wasn’t as flustered as when he was on oprah. haha he ran into dominic monaghan there and said he was really cool and they are very similar. he told me he was sorry that he didn’t get me an autograph, but he left before he could get it (i’m a HUGE LOST fan haha).

for those of you who are concerned about Vote for the Worst choosing blake as their new contestant - don’t worry! they aren’t choosing him because they think he’s bad. they actually want him to win. besides, at this point, votes are votes! if they want to vote for blake then i think that’s awesome.

KEEP UP THE AMAZING WORK YOU GUYS! you have been AMAZING! just remember that blake has the biggest fan base and we need to prove that tomorrow. VOTE VOTE VOTE til your little fingers fall off. he’s been so great so far and he needs our votes more than ever!!

OMFG. I seriously can’t take it anymore.

1. He made the top 3! This is a time for CELEBRATION, not hand-wringing!
2. It does not matter where Blake goes in the lineup.
3. He will sing whatever the hell HE wants to sing. HE is the contestant. I think we all need to remember that and repeat it to ourselves hourly til we get it in our heads.
4. The powers that be are not trying to sabotage him. That makes NO SENSE whatsoever. Why would they sabotage someone who has the potential to make money for them?!
5. Did I already say it? THIS IS THE TOP 3. He is on Leno tonight, got to sing with Sir Mix-a-Lot at his great homecoming celebration, and has gotten to experience things that he never has before. He is enjoying it. And he is proud of what he’s done.

Blake is going to rock tonight. I can’t wait to find out his song choices. So do we know if Clive is picking a song for the contestants, or are the other 2 songs both Blake’s choice? And do we just vote for 2 hours tonight? I know next week is 4, but I was thinking this week is just 2. Ooooh, and do we get to hear Blake’s voice tonight when we vote? I hope so, although it will make it tempting not to hang up immediately. I will make myself only listen to it once and then hang up immediately the other times. ;)

RollTide - I think you’re right on the 2 hour voting window tonight. I don’t remember it ever being 4 hours for the top 3 week. Of course, I didn’t vote during top 3 week last year, so… But yeah, we SHOULD also get his voice thanking us for voting for him tonight. But you never know. Heh.

Watching our boy on Leno right now. He’s never had a cup of coffee in his life? Maybe that’s a *good* thing!

I said the exact same thing last night. Heh. I love that he’s never had a cup of coffee. A kindred spirit! :)
