Glad to hear that there were no technical glitches today! Can’t wait to see it! I’ll have to rely on youtube or gofish this time since my roommate was sleeping on the couch in the living room (where our dvr is) and I didn’t want to wake her up by turning on the tv to set it to record. (Her brother is getting married this weekend and there have been people EVERYWHERE the past few days. yikes.)

And definitely agree with whoever posted that I’m glad he made it to #2 instead of 3 b/c we are getting to see soooo much more of him than Melinda got.

OMGah, apparently Blake tacked a little U2 “With Or Without You” onto the end of SWBL on The Mike & Juliet Show! Can’t wait to hear that. They’re usually pretty good about putting video on their website, so keep an eye out for it.

By the way, he was interviewed on my local Top 40 station this morning here in Houston, TX 104.1 KRBE and he was very happy and excited about him being on I-Tunes behind Maroon 5. The Dj’s were super nice to him and said they can’t wait to hear his new music.
He also said he will be talking with Simon Fuller this upcoming week, and it seemed to me that 19 will be his management team. He sounded very upbeat about it.
Anyways, just wanted to share.

Something sort of OT, but sorta not… it’s been great hearing the different finalists say such good things about each other. Jordin gushes about Blake every schance he gets.

Thanks for sharing about that interview, maracaibo. If 19 is going to continue to be his management team after the “3 months after the finale” contract expires, I don’t see why he would NOT be signed to a recording contract by 19R. They wouldn’t keep him under management if they weren’t signing him to a recording contract, I wouldn’t think.

XO at MJ’s the other day said she read (on pulse, I think) that Jordin’s physical single went out to radio stations this week, and the jacket just said 19R - nothing about Song/BMG. I know that there’s a contract in place between the two, but I’m wondering if they will be signed under 19R this year. Interesting. Guess we’ll see in the next few days. We should be getting a press release about Jordin’s deal any day now.

I caught a bit of Blake on the CBS show this morning by accident. I was late for work and turned on the TV and there he was! I guess in my mind I thought it was the Today show since I get all those shows/channels confused. He sounded great, but I missed the intro.

I hope some of this shows up on youtube or go fish!

Maybe in a year, he’ll be a millionaire and won’t need the looping machine anymore. He’ll have his own band to play the music?? I’m not quite sure what the loop machine does to be honest. I’m not that smart about music equipment.

Blake’s been using it as a part of his live show for such a long time that I don’t really see him taking it out any time soon.

I had to FF Jordin’s performance because I just can’t stand NO(w). Her interview was good tho, and I love her. I certainly hope that she gets her wish and only has a couple of ballads on her album because she agrees that any more than that would just be too much.

ETA: I’m not posting the Today video because it’s at the end of a two-hour best-quality tivo file that will take about 4 hours to transfer before I can even start editing it. The Mike & Juliet appearance (which is probably the best post-idol *anything* I’ve seen!) is downloaded, edited, and saving right now. Juliet is *such* a fangirl!

His performances on the morning shows today just really solidify what a true talent he is. Jordin has a beautiful voice and I’m happy she won but wow does Blake have a way with music, laying down his own beats, harmonizing, making it all come together while playing the guitar!

I can’t wait to see what he entertains us with in the future!

I only had three hours of sleep for each of the last two days since I have seen people camping out for Clay Aiken and Justin Timberlake. I semi-camped myself for Taylor and thought it would never happen again, and here I was in the wee early morning for Blake. Waking up at 1 a.m. only to see Blake. From reviewing the tape when I got home, Matt Lauer was right in pointing that out. Some were really early. Talked to some cool folks sitting out on the sidewalks. It is really worth all night and morning for this.

During soundcheck, Blake asked us to not scream/cheer at the beginning when he is preparing the looping, so that other sounds will not affect the looping vocals. We were all waiting and hushed up for the time being at the beginning of his rehearsal, and later at the live perfomance telecast.

In between the rehearsal takes at soundcheck, Blake really made an effort to lighten the crowd up. He doesn’t have to, but I enjoyed how he talked with the crowd a bit.

Blake at one point, asks in a really funny way along the lines of - Is everyone awake? I was nodding no and saying no, and so were most of the people in the rows around me - and Blake was just smiling and saying no. It really is too. He has a lot of momentum and these weeks there are a lot of hectic hours and weird shedules placed on the Idols. Glad he is doing his best. Do you know when you’re still half-asleep and still stretching. The body is awake, but the mind and reflexes are a bit exhausted saying it’s so early. He is an old sport.

This was still during the soundcheck - Blake made some of his character sketches/noises of comedy/cartoons (like the Jimmy Walker Blue that I am not as familiar with since the last few cartoons I saw were the Looney Tunes).

And he scatted just a short bit, maybe 10 to 15 seconds. He is good at that early jazzy, scatting (see: Louis Armstrong) improvisation. I was happy to hear everything up close.

The live performance of SWBL is just fantastic. I like how he changes it up a little diffently for every show, so that there are new things to discover about his interpretation. Well, the performance clip is on view somewhere on this site. Blake sounds so clean and effortless live. I loved the part when he emphasizes “the pouring rain” line.

I finally got to give my letter and gift to Blake today. That, and the whole soundcheck experience, and the live telecast, made for a great day.

When Blake tours with the rest of the finalists this summer, and later on on his solo tour, people will be reveling - He is a natural music man.

I hope he and Jordin both are able to get some rest soon, before they have to start rehearsals for the tour. I’m sure they’re both exhausted, but when they’re on camera, you sure can’t tell.

I can’t wait for the tour!! :)
