De nada, y’all. It’s fun to make the clips and it’s fun to share them, too.

This is unrelated, but the latest Idolatry video at EW.com features an interview with Blake. It’s pretty cool. Check it out.

Yeah, here’s the link to that Idolatry vid:

    (which I haven’t watched yet!)

Also I can’t wait to see the M&J performance when I get home. I hope it lives up to the hype! Thanks so much jenlar!!

In that Idoltry video what does he mean when he says in regard to his already started CD “if Clive doesn’t like it hopefully someone else will”. I don’t know what to make of that. Would he turn the deal down if his CD got rejected?? That’s a really good interview though. Michael Slezak really seems to like him.

  12. 12 jenlar May 31st, 2007 at 6:24 pm

The Idolatry interview is *really* good. (Thanks Tara & star!) I can see why some people mistake his confidence and honesty as cockiness, tho. :rolleyes_tb: He really knows who he is and what kind of music he’s meant to make.

Lisa- I get the feeling that he meant almost exactly that. Not necessarily that he wanted his whole album or he was going to try again somewhere else, but that he wants creative control and he’s not willing to give it up just to quickly get a recording contract.

It makes me so happy to hear him praising Duran Duran. I was the biggest Duranie ever. My mp3 player doesn’t have a lot of storage so it only has three artists: Blake, Duran Duran and 311. :clap_tb:

I thought he was pretty sure he was going to be signed with 19 and BMG.

I just think Michael just worried him a bit about the Kelly Clarkson thing.
But in the end I think he will get signed with Clive and he will do the album he wants! Yay!
    Loved that interview.

  14. 14 Tara May 31st, 2007 at 6:30 pm

I’m surprise Slezak didn’t ask Blake about the tuxedo shirt. Unless he did but it got cut. Maybe they’ll have a part 2. Jordin’s Idolatry video had two parts.

Also, why on earth would TPTB not want him to sing Time Of The Season?

  15. 15 jenlar May 31st, 2007 at 6:37 pm

Maybe because they wanted him to sing one of those bubble-gummy song from that era. TotS is particularly steamy, and doesn’t really fit with the other songs. He would stand out too much, and he would get noticed. We can’t have that… now can we? :innocent1_tb:

And then he sang it. And the whole fandom went *thud*. And then we knew that he was in it for the win.

I think he meant that if Clive didn’t like his songs and therefore didn’t sign him, someone else would because he knows that if 19E wants him he has no choice. I think Clive will let him have a few songs that he can mess around with as long as he mixes in those pop and dance songs he talked about.

This is a great day for Team Plaid! Blake all the time. :clap_tb:

Mmmkay, I just watched the performance…

    :wub_tb: X infinity!!!!

The only thing keeping it from total perfection is that DANG piano. It was too loud at times! It would’ve been fine with just Blake’s guitar.

  18. 18 Karen May 31st, 2007 at 9:32 pm

ya know, if clive doesn’t sign himm there are probably at least a dozen indie labels that will. I don’t think Blake cares if he has a media giant backing him. He wants to be who he is and I can respect that. I always thought he was a more indie than mainstream.

My only hope is that he does take some advice from others. Chris Daughtry didn’t write his album by himself. He worked with people. He was open to suggestion. Hopefully, Blake will be, too.

Man, he is such a risk taker.

I think Blake knows that for the first CD he needs to have a mianstream sound without losing his artistry. Otheriwse his CD won’t sell as much.
I am happy about him wanting to do also more classic pop like Maroon 5.

I sm hoping Blake will infuse a Maroon5 and Jamiroquai sound like he talked about and IMOthat is perfect for mainstream radio.
Too much electronica and it won’t be as successful. Some of his original songs are perfect for Top 40 radio like Dumpty Humpty, Jealosy and Emotional Waterfalls.
I think Clive will really like his original work. At least those songs that I mentioned. They perfect for today’s music scene. Can’t wait!

    Me too!!! :clap_tb:

This performance was so good. I watched it a few times on my lunch break yesterday. I can’t wait to see the rest when I get home. I’m so far behind. Can’t watch them at work and I went to see Fall Out Boy last night, so I didn’t see any of the others, yet.

I don’t know. He seems pretty set on doing things his way. His attitude seems to be his way or the highway. Yikes! Well, maybe he’ll see things differently when he meets with Clive or whoever.

The Mike and Juliet performance was absolutely incredible. That boy is smart and knows what he’s doing - FO SHO! Go Blake!

  27. 27 Sarah Jun 1st, 2007 at 6:19 pm

So, I finally got to watch the whole thing.

And yeah, that’s basically the coolest thing I’ve seen on tv. Ever. Glitch free SWBL with WOWY = MAGIC.

I loved the “hello ladies”. They look like they should be members of Team Plaid. :laugh_tb:

This is the best version he’s done. I didn’t really love this song before but sure do now, lol.

I really, really like this video. :wub_tb:

I viewed the video of Blake on The Morning Show with Mike and Juliet over the weekend.

Sure - that part with the addition of U2 With or Without You at the coda is just fantastic.

Earlier this year I was at a live taping for Mike and Juliet when they had Il Divo on. Carlos and David were soaring in their vocals, Sebastian has a nice recording voice, Urs is good.

The show’s studio is the right amount of space to feature a music performance. Everything about the sound mix, technical feed, audio transmission to TV - is better than what I expected.

Blake was so on during the M and J show.
