It was a beautiful performance indeed! And he looked GREAT! I’ll have some sort of file up within the hour. Youtube first, I guess, because it’s quick.

Oh… if anyone else wants a headband let me know! Send me your address and I’ll drop one in the mail this week.

I loved loved loved his performance. :) And yeah, he did look great. Can’t wait to see him sing it on tour.

So I can’t remember from the tour last year, but what did they have for sale? My girls want a poster and a t-shirt of Blake. :) I didn’t get them a ticket b/c I didn’t think they could sit through all 10 singers. They’re just 5 and 4, but they love Blake. :)

  3. 3 Erinn May 30th, 2007 at 12:07 pm

IIRC, they have t-shirts and posters each of the top 2 - the t-shirts were kinda lame last year though. The posters were nice. They also have a set of mini-buttons with each of the top 10’s faces on them. There’s a program and a keychain with all of them. A poster and t-shirt with all of them. That’s what I remember. I’m sure Blake’s page in the program should be good.

Honestly, last year I went twice and was late both times. I got my money’s worth, but I pretty much missed the first half of the show, except Paris. I’m sure you can do that if you want. I was 7 when I went to my first full arena show and 4 for my first concert hall show, but I know all kids are different.

    I loved this performance.
His voice sounded great and he looked HOT too. Do you guys think he messed up with the loop pedals towards the end? LOL.It sounded weird at the very end.

I love when Regis told him he should have won. Kelly also said he was going to have a HUGE career. I agree.
Is he going to be on TRL today? I heard he already taped his segment.

  5. 5 ParkAvenue May 30th, 2007 at 12:24 pm

WOW! that’s just too cool for AI!!
Maracaibo, I also thought the beat thing was a little faster at the end.
I so want to see this performance live. hope he uses the loop pedal again tomorrow.
Blake, the one man band, awesome!

  6. 6 Pam May 30th, 2007 at 12:31 pm

That performance was just beautiful! It’s worth it to be able to watch it over and over again!

  7. 7 pj May 30th, 2007 at 12:57 pm

Yep, that was pretty cool, despite the the technical glitches. I wonder if he’ll do the same thing on TRL?

So, I guess the rumor about him being on The View is wrong. Sorry guys!

  8. 8 Hanna May 30th, 2007 at 1:20 pm

    Thank you so much Jenlar!

That was just great.. Blake is not a typical AI contestant that’s for sure..

I got my Blake-fix for today, yay!

  9. 9 Nic May 30th, 2007 at 1:35 pm

I’m having a day from hell at work, so to come home for lunch and see that really helped. He looked and sounded great. Thanks Jenlar!

  10. 10 Savio May 30th, 2007 at 2:06 pm

    ParkAvenue:
There are no tickets needed for The Today Show, it’s going to be held outside at 30 Rockefeller Plaza - but it’s best to be there as early as possible. Not sure if you saw my earlier post (May 30th, 2007 at 2:50 am) - but I’m planning on being there at 6AM. If you want to meet-up, email: wiccababy2000@aol.com. I’ll be wearing a red plaid shirt - we gotta show Blake our TeamPlaid support!!

  11. 11 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 2:26 pm

I’m sending up to sendspace now, so that y’all can d/l if you’d like a copy. YouTube hates me at the moment.

ETA: Also sending some caps to photobucket.

  12. 12 pj May 30th, 2007 at 2:51 pm

    Thanks, Jenlar!!!

  13. 13 bean99 May 30th, 2007 at 2:55 pm

I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would and actually prefered the straight version of the song. Even so I always love Blake and he was adorable with Regis & Kelly. I would have liked to see it on the bigger screen but am thrilled to be able to see it here. Thanks Jenlar. :thumbup_tb:

  14. 14 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 3:04 pm

Here is the link to the downloadable version:

    YouTube still hates me. :lol_tb:

  16. 16 ParkAvenue May 30th, 2007 at 3:36 pm

Savio: thanks. i’m also gonna wear my green plaid top. shooting you an email now.

  17. 17 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 3:47 pm

zOMG TRL is sucking all of the remaining intelligence right out of my head. But the Blake is worth the pain.

    I made this

while I’m waiting for the pain to end. Feel free to use it anywhere, no credit requested.

  18. 18 Trendy May 30th, 2007 at 3:53 pm

will the TRL appearance be put up here?

  19. 19 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 3:55 pm

Trendy- Someone will at least link to it, I’m sure. It’s going to require a lot of editing because Blake & Jordin are hanging out on the set the entire time.

  20. 20 pj May 30th, 2007 at 4:02 pm

    Love the animated graphic, Jenlar!

Yes, we’ll post TRL on the main page when it makes it to youtbe or gofish!

  21. 21 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 4:28 pm

Here are my screencaps from R&K. Not very clear, but they’d work fine for banners and avatars.
    http://s4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/jenlar/

I really liked this performance. He would be lost in his song, and then just start looking all over the audience and a smile would almost start to play across his face. He was completely in his element and it was great!

When Blake & Jordin were leaving TRL, Jordin sang a little to Blake’s beat. It was really cute. I hope that Jordin’s album is full of good, fun songs and only has a few of the cheezwhizzy ones. She seems like such a fun kid, gifted with an excellent voice. Let’s hope that TPTB don’t try to cram her into a sappy mold, or (at least) they don’t succeed if they try.

  22. 22 pj May 30th, 2007 at 4:34 pm

ParkAve and Savio, have a great time! I’m jealous! I think WagnerBlues7melody is going to be there, too. I hope she checks in and is able to coordinate with y’all.

Jenlar, thanks for the caps. Can’t wait to check them out!

Finally, for the non-myspace inclined, here’s the latest bulletin from The Blaker Girls.

    hey blakers-

apparently, some people out there seem to hate the blaker girls because they think we are sexist (because of our name). that is most definitely NOT the case. many of you already know this, but for those of you who don’t…the blaker girls were started by friend of blake and the name was give approval BY BLAKE. it’s not that only girls are welcome, it’s just that it was a name that fit with his and was a play on words with ‘the laker girls’ (a la paula abdul).

we have TONS of guys who are members and know that there’s more than just a name. they understand that if you want factual information from the people who know blake, this is the place to be.

another rumor going around is that you have to think blake is gay in order to be a blaker girl. once again, not the case. the blaker girls (and blake) don’t care if fans are gay, straight, bi, or whatever. we’re open to anyone. however, blake, himself, is straight.

anyway, just wanted to clear that up in case there is any confusion.

    xoxo
    kristi

Frankly, I feel it’s alittle sad that Kristi even has to clarify such nonsense. She does a great job and Blake is very lucky to have her and the Blaker Girls.

  23. 23 ParkAvenue May 30th, 2007 at 4:39 pm

thanks for the caps. my fave is definitely this one with the guitar.

i don’t know why Kristi had to remind us like everytime that Blake’s straight. i don’t read a lot of other blogs/forums/myspace, are the rumors that bad?

  24. 24 Savio May 30th, 2007 at 4:41 pm

    ParkAvenue May 30th, 2007 at 3:36 pm
Savio: thanks. i’m also gonna wear my green plaid top. shooting you an email now.

ParkAvenue: I just responded to the email - very much looking forward to it!

  25. 25 pj May 30th, 2007 at 4:44 pm

I have no idea about the rumors, ParkAvenue, as I don’t really viist any other Blake-specific sites, either. I stay away from the AI boards, too.

  26. 26 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 4:47 pm

Grrr… Kristi (and Blake) *so* don’t deserve that crap! I don’t know why some people have to be such idiots.

PA- Glad that you like the pictures. Yeah, the rumors are that bad.

  27. 27 Sarah May 30th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

You are kidding me. Kristi really had to clarify that for people? What is this, junior high? Oh wait… we ARE all tweentards. :rolleyes_wp:

    Ugh!!

  28. 28 Shannon May 30th, 2007 at 5:03 pm

I absolutely loved that version of the song!! He is so awesome and I love him!!!

  29. 29 Tara May 30th, 2007 at 5:13 pm

I really liked his performance. His vocals were like Buddah (Butter).

I suspect tweentard Cakers are the ones causing the gay rumors. There are a few of them who actually believe in their heart of hearts that Blake/Chris are dating. Sad and delusional.

  30. 30 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 5:51 pm

Cake was fun at first, because it was just the two guys fandom all smashed up into one. Remember “Cake Infinate”? And when the audience was yelling “Cake!” and one of the boys sorta “huhuhuh Cake”d the other one and Ryan said to shut up because they loved it? That was really sweet. Now it’s just turned gossipy, stalkerish, and straight-out creepy.

The best reaction to any of the rumors was when Perez Hilton.com posted the picture of Blake & his buddies all in a line being goofy, and tried to make it mean something “gay gay gay”. Blake’s buddy Ethan sent the link to everyone on his myspace friends lists and was like “OMG! I MADE PEREZ HILTON! YESSS!” Not the reaction that Perez expected, I’m sure!

  31. 31 jenlar May 30th, 2007 at 5:57 pm

I got the TRL recording and I’m sending it to Tina (RVzLady) at Blake Lewis Media. I don’t have the time to make the big edit and she volunteered so yaaay!

I’ll make some caps when I get everything situated & sent where it’s supposed to be.

  32. 32 Cat May 30th, 2007 at 6:28 pm

    Poor Kristi
Wait until they get on the tour, then all these crazy tweentards will be there in person! Scary…

  33. 33 WagnerBlues7melody May 30th, 2007 at 8:17 pm

Hey. I got back from attending the Regis & Kelly show. Blake has such charm. What I immediately noticed was his strong sense of self-assurance. He is very focused on the perfomance and on the interview matter. Oh, and he is so trim and much more handsome in person.

During the commercial break after Charles Gibson interview, Blake came out to the set and lots of women and girls were already anticipating and screaming for him. Blake was setting up th technical things and his music equipment and being real cool and professional. As you saw, the plaid grey pants are back with the black zip-up jacket with the green trimming, and sneakers. Green really is his color- suits him to a tee.

Blake sounds so clear and light and pure and forceful on She Will Be Loved. His modulation of pitch was great to hear and he sounds so effortless. I can really hear that he keeps his voice in good condition/shape with not straining vocal chords, etc. It’s something I trained a bit with public speaking/perfomance/theater, so I know he has good vocal training. The studio audience really listened and enjoyed the song. I was on of those you hear in the studio who walloped and wood and cheered as loud for the public to know we appreciate Blake.

I loved hearing him perform with the guitar and the looping instrumant(I think that’s what it’s named - piano/keyboard/percussions/vocal layering.) It is finally good to show everyone the full music arsenal that he has. Blake was fully in the element.

Blake’s voice and musicality is just wonderful.

  34. 34 WagnerBlues7melody May 30th, 2007 at 8:20 pm

Savio and ParkAvenue - I sent an e-mail to Savio and hope we can meet up at the Today Show. Get there real early at the plaza.

  35. 35 Sarah May 30th, 2007 at 8:34 pm

Yay, I hope y’all get to meet up for the Today Show!!

Thanks for telling us all about your experience at R&K, Wagner. It sounds wonderful! I really wish I could have been there.

The AI tour will be great, but I can’t wait til I can go to a full concert that’s JUST Blake. :)

  36. 36 WagnerBlues7melody May 30th, 2007 at 8:42 pm

Thanks, and just to add, Blake’s voice just soars. Maybe someone with more music technical terms can describe it better. It is a little like Lukas Rossi when I hear Blake live. The voice just rises and falls and goes into a soothing natural range projection. Yeah, Sarah, here’s to hoping for a solo Blake concert in 2008.

  37. 37 Savio May 30th, 2007 at 9:03 pm

WagnerBlues7melody: I just responded to your email - very much looking forward to it!

  38. 38 WagnerBlues7melody May 30th, 2007 at 9:29 pm

About the Regis and Kelly show. There were lots of the target range audience members (teens/early twenties) really screaming for Blake earlier this morning (I admit Simon is correct another time yet again.) I tried to maintain the cheering to the beginning, interview, commercial break, and end of segement so he could focus on the whole performance. Bear that in mind for tomorrow. That turnout, based on this morning, has got to be great.

  39. 39 maracaibo May 30th, 2007 at 9:31 pm

Anyone knows if there is video up for Blake’s TRL appearance?
I heard it was great but I missed it.

  40. 40 star May 30th, 2007 at 10:22 pm

I just now got to watch the R&K performance! Obviously it has its imperfections, but I thought it was cool to see him perform that way and I especially LOVE the ending (”please don’t try so hard to say goodbye” over his own harmonies).

If any of you are members of Blake Lewis Media, there’s a video of SWBL available there, from a performance at a hospital yesterday. It’s not the whole thing; just the beginning - but it’s flawless. He also said that SWBL is the only cover he ever performed before Idol.

Wagner7, how awesome you were in the R&K studio audience! Thanks so much for recapping your experience. Happy trails to all of you going to The Today Show tomorrow. *pretends not to be jellus*

So he and Jordin were on the whole time during TRL? Dang, I should’ve taped it. I don’t like to download big files to my computer lately. I’m gonna pray it shows up on YouTube in segments! :)

  41. 41 Karen May 30th, 2007 at 11:49 pm

You know, I kinda think Blake should save his improv beatboxing for concert shows when he has more time. She Loves the Way is like 7 mins long on youtube and its great. But having to squish all that fabulous bluesy beatbox rhythm into 2mins doesn’t work. I think he should record his beats - we know he made them so no need to prove himself - and just sing the song. He should make it easier on himself while he is just starting out.

So with the R&K. I LOVE LOVE LOVE his vocal. The beatboxing was a little off and he was spending too much time looking at his loop machine. I want him to do it again with someone else messing with the loop.

(Oh and with all this I was thinking, thank God we got him to the top 2. Third place sucks. I haven’t seen Melinda on the media tour since the top 3 were on Leno and little piece in LKL.)

  42. 42 yoroshiku34 May 31st, 2007 at 1:32 am

Thanks for posting this! It was like a lot of Blake’s performances for me: not technically flawless, but ambitious and spirited and a little messy and that’s always fun for me to watch. Also, I know I’m going to regret saying this a year from now, but it kind of reminded me of Bob Dylan with the harmonica around his neck. Only, of course, on the floor. (”OMG you are comparing Blake to Dylan? Blake’s untalented, he can only beatbox!” - random angry blogger) I’m glad he got to show a little more of this away from Idol even if it was only for two minutes.

  43. 43 jenlar May 31st, 2007 at 2:09 am

I finally got the TRL clip on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnwW2A0VoW0

    Jordin is totes Blaker Girl!

  44. 44 jenlar May 31st, 2007 at 2:55 am

…and here’s a downloadable version of the TRL clip, if you don’t have it yet:

  45. 45 RollTide May 31st, 2007 at 8:37 am

Jenlar, you rock! Wagner - could I be any more jealous? Two Blake shows in 2 days. Why can’t I be in NY? :(

  46. 46 bean99 May 31st, 2007 at 9:30 am

Wagner, you’re so lucky. Thanks for the recap from R & K. I think I would have liked it better on my tv instead of the computer if the weather had only cooperated. Of course live would be much better. :laugh_tb:

  47. 47 Tara May 31st, 2007 at 11:13 am

(”OMG you are comparing Blake to Dylan? Blake’s untalented, he can only beatbox!” - random angry blogger)

Seriously, I’m tire of these Blake haters. The competition is over and they’re still spreading their hatred and anger. I don’t know what the deal is. If they don’t like him, then don’t buy his record. Geez Weez Luiz.

  48. 48 Daniel Apr 12th, 2008 at 10:18 pm

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article on Live with Regis & Kelly at Team Plaid, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
