While we (im)patiently await reports from Sarah, pj, etc. about Blake’s homecoming concert, let’s review some of the most interesting tidbits that we’ve seen in the flurry of press over the last few days.
First up, here’s a fun little video clip from Seattle’s FOX affiliate, Q13. Blake dances in his Pop Tart skivvies and delivers a beatbox ode to Seatown!
In more exciting news, it sounds as if Blake’s debut album is really coming along. He’s got 6 (or is it 7 now?) songs recorded, and tells The Herald he even has a title in mind!
Lewis is now working on his debut album, writing songs on tour and preparing to record the rest of them. He has six songs done for the album that he expects will be entitled “A.D.D.,” for “Audio Day Dream,” and will be released on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

While fans are currently left to discuss rumors and speculate about Blake’s record label situation, according to this Bshorty quote from USA Today’s Idol Chatter blog, 19 Entertainment is involved and they are apparently supportive of Blake’s project.
I had a meeting with 19 and presented a concept of what I wanted to do and they said, ‘Cool, let’s do it.’ I have seven songs already recorded. I’m writing a lot. I think I’ve had the most fun out of any contestant who’s been on the show.
Let’s hope more details will be revealed throughout the summer!

Cute clip. I’m glad Blake’s not afraid to be dorky cuz the Pop Tart costume (skivvies) is way dorky - especially with the Big Feet! He looked adorable! Can’t wait to hear more & see photos from the show. Glad you’re enjoying Seattle. It’s an awesome place!

The time period where everyone can sign contracts ends in late August correct? And supposedly A.D.D comes out the week of thanksgiving, so if i calculated correctly we will get the first single by September. Am i right?
Actually no. The idol contracts don’t expire till the tour ends in September. As Phil said, there are all free to talk about there projects now. Here is where the 90 day thing comes in. It all has to do with right of refusal. In other words, after 8/21, if 19E offers Blake a recording contract to sign with a major label, he has the right to refuse them if he choses too. As of right now, they can turn Blake down if they choose too.
Blake had said he was planning to finish his record first and then try to field for offers. He said that once the tour is over in September, he was going to get back into the studio in full force basically in October and try to finish the album up and of course right now he is still writing songs while on the tour and when he has any spare time, which is very little lol, he flies back to LA and goes into the studio. He has 7 tracks recorded so far.
Usually the singles come out about 2 weeks or so before the album does.
One more thing to add, Blake still does not have a singed recording contract but he does have management from 19 through Simon Fuller. So, we are waiting to see if the delay with Jordin contract announcement still not being made will have any affect on Blake’s release date whether or not he goes with 19.
Is ADD the name of Blake’s CD or something? I think I missed that somewhere..
This isn’t entirely true. First of all 19E is not a record label so they don’t offer anyone a recording contract. I’m pretty sure 19E has until the end of the tour to exercise their option on the contestants to management and that’s when the first right of refusal comes in. It sounds like they already did so with Blake and opted to sign him, they simply just did it early. In the past those they signed automatically signed an additional contract with BMG due to the deal between 19 and Sony/BMG and that’s the recording contract. If Blake is signed with 19 already there is no longer any first right of refusal as far as they go in his case. I got the impression from how Blake is speaking that perhaps they’ll help him find the right label. If the rumor about them having to shop Jordin around is true there may be some changes between the BMG/19 deal. What Phil is talking about is he’s referring to the contestants 19 has passed on. I’m pretty sure by now they were told if 19 were signing them or not.
Wait now. Why does the time for first dibs for Sony/BMG end with the tour instead of the 90 days? are we just basing this on what Phil said? Because I don’t think he was that explicit.

90 days is the amount of days from the day the finale aired to the end of the tour so its the same thing.
Forgot to add, again we don’t know if something has changed between BMG and 19. If it has the first dibs/90 days thing may have more to do with 19E.
There are different divisions of 19E including M (management) and R (recording). I’m not sure if Blake is just signed with the management division. It’s very hard to tell from the tiny bits we’ve heard.
As of 6/30 when we had the live chat at BLM, Kristi had said at that particular time that Blake did not have a recording deal, but he did have management with Fuller so I assume it’s just 19M right now. She didn’t say his name, but we knew that’s what she meant and also going back to the phone interview that Blake did on 6/14 while back home in Seattle talking about Fuller taking the option to pick him up. So, as far as anyone knows, it’s just a management deal right now but it does sound like at this point as Lisa alluded to that it almost looks as if he has been singed but we haven’t seen any evidence of it because of all the questions surrounding the lack of news about Jordin’s contract.
For what it’s worth about the album discussion… if Blake wants to release alot of his older stuff(reworked in studio, sweeet!)with a few new titles to fulfill his already thought-out Audio Day Dream plan, then I’m for it. It would be like, “I have this to offer you, ready to go..and now, I’m working on all-new songs that were written during the Tour! Look for it in the New Year!” That would be great. It sort of would be like when Shania Twain released her older songs, before “UP!” came out. You bet I bought ‘em both.
It sounds like he has all kinds of new material coming in, and ideas for it too. It will fill a new album concept, easily!
