Y’all know I couldn’t wait for Chris to go, but for whatever reason I was sort of sad to see it actually happen. Now that he’s out I don’t find him (or Cake) so annoying.
So anyway, I’m LMAO right now. One of my male co-workers is a total Blake fanboy. He stopped by to see me earlier and was all, “My boy Blake knocked it out this week!! I was so proud of him!! My wife and I watched it at least 5 times in a row and I voted for him like 40 times!” and the whole time he was talking he was making a rawkhand. He came this close to squeeing. :)
YAY FOR BLAKE BEING THE LAST GUY STANDING! He really picked the perfect time to have his ‘moment.’ He’s got serious buzz and momentum right now…I’m feeling good about his chances to make it to Top 3.
Star, me too. I was telling Spense yesterday that I would be sad to see him go, which was strange because I’ve been wanting him gone so badly. She said it’s the power of his smile. :)
Anyway, I’ve noticed lots of guys like Blake, which is great! That anchorman in the Chris Sligh interview (posted by Steveo) was practically fawning over him.
I’m feeling great about his chances for top 3!

We just freaking had to evacuate due to a false fire alarm. I walked down 15 flights of stairs for NOTHING. Damn these people. lol.
It was kind of sad to see “cake” split up (LMAO), even if I haven’t been a fan of Chris at all. But he does seem like a nice guy, so it was kinda sad to see him go. Spense is right, it IS all in the power of Chris’s smile. He does have a great smile.
Star, you’re 100% right. He picked the PERFECT time for his “moment.” That performance might have even sealed top 2 for him. I’ve heard SO much talk about him the past 2 days, and on yahoo buzz this morning, he was on the OVERALL list, with like a 200% jump in searches from the previous day.
OMFG how much do I hate not being able to log in to MJ’s right now?? Someone DID NOT just say Blake using a computer program to work on his arrangement is cheating!

Um, hello. They showed him 7 WEEKS AGO, using his computer to put new beats to the Diana Ross song. And people are just now picking up on that?
Rearranging a song is rearranging a song is rearranging a song… no matter how you do it. People will find whatever they can to criticize. They’re just pissed because Taylor wasn’t allowed to play harmonica last season. Oh boo hoo.
ETA: I guess that also means that people who use ProTools (aka every musician who makes a record today) are cheaters too, since they can’t sing well enough if they need computer enhancements.

I am not very excited though about the Top 4 theme though. Yuck. DIsco, boogie? Why in the world did they choose that theme for Top 4 night.
Top 3 night I am really excited about. It will be veryy intresting to see what Clive Davis and the judges pick for Blake. I hope they choose the perfect song for BLake.

i am definitely more of a blake fan than a chris fan, but it was definitely sad to see chris go last night.
seeing the two of them on stage made a lot of us go ‘aww’ im sure…i can only imagine how sad the rest of them (esp blake) feel.
it was sweet that they were both willing to go home for each other, hehe.

Yeah, I wanted Chris to go but it *was* sad. I totally believe them when they said that they’d be willing to go home for each other. I’ll miss Phil, too, but it was both of their times to leave. My son (he’s 5) cried when they voted off Phil (and Hayley, for that matter!)
Waiting for this week to bring down the house was the best timing ever. He had this look, like he had just decided to unleash all of his talent, all at once.
Hopefully boogie week is dance music and *not* disco, although the hope is most likely in vain. Ugh… trying not to speculate.

You have got to be kidding me? Have those people ever used a computer? There’s an old saying with programmers (my mother is one), “A computer is only as smart as the person who programs it.” They can’t just “spit” out an arrangement any more than they can “spit out” your English paper. Rediculous.
A close friend of mine is a composer, and from what I can see with him and his other musician buddies all of them use computer programs. You work it out on the computer, then create the sheet music on the computer, then print out the sheet music and hand them to the musicians. Kinda Like Blake did. I haven’t talked to my friend since early yesterday so I’m dying to find out what he thinks of the program Blake uses.

So, I’m probably getting waaay ahead of myself here, but…have you guys listened to any of the potential coronation singles on americanidol.com? I was thinking maybe we should figure out which one would be best for Blake, and rally around it. I kinda like “This Is My Now” for Blake, and “I Saw Stars” would be cool, though it’s not very coronationy. It actually sounds like the Counting Crows, heh!
ETA listening to some more. “Secrets And Lies” is pretty Blakey sounding. But again…not very coronationy.

star, I thought the beauty of the songwriting contest was that we might actually be able to get away from coronationy schmaltz? At least…I hoped it was.
I don’t think Idol gets it. The past winner songs would have been great if they did not have the theme “I can’t believe I Won” or “AI was the best thing that ever happened to me” blah blah blah. We want songs that will match the hits of today. New singers are not singing praises to their success. They are singing about love, sex, money, dancing, problems in the world, etc. Why can’t an idol winner sing a song with a more typical theme.
Remember last years “Do I make you Proud?” I think Weird Al’s “Do I Creep you out?” is getting better reviews. Not to say Taylor isn’t a phenomenal singer. He just should not have been forced to sing that song. Maybe if the final song sucks big time. We spare Blake from having to make it his single by not voting for him. I know people are going to hate me for saying that, but I want Blake to have a good start. Not a “Inside your Heaven” or “Do I Make You Proud” or “I Believe . . . ” start. Ugh.

and I will be going to the Birmingham, AL stop. That’s all for me. I might have my 5 year old with me, who is a HUGE Blake fan. I’m sure my 4 year old would want to go too, but I don’t know that she could handle the whole concert. If it was just Blake, yeah, but not sure about the rest. My girls are such Blakers. As soon as we get in the car, they’re yelling out which Blake song they want to hear from my iPod. I don’t know how they got this way.
