I just looked it up. B told me it, the competition, airs in Dec. I looked on the Versus site and it lists Dallas for Dec. 15th for the Dallas show. There is one today, but its a taped previous show.

The writer was brutal. He said that Chris D. has little talent, which is so far OFF the mark. He also implied that Chris didn’t have to struggle to make it in the music industry and got instant success from being on Idol, which isn’t true at all. Chris was playing local gigs for many years but had to work at a car dealership to support his family; there weren’t many opportunities to get signed to a record label when you are in NC.

Yuck, that asshole wrote for the Star-Telegram and the rodeo was in DALLAS so now I’m deathly afraid he’ll also be reviewing BLAKE! :/

I forgot to mention that both events were in Dallas, but I see you covered that. I’ve been painting all day, maybe the fumes are getting to me, lol.

Nic - come to think of it, maybe there are some different reviewers. Did they have a review for Kanye for last night as well? One person can’t be in two places at the same time. So, let’s hope a different reporter is covering the LG event.

Okay, here’s what I think… It’s great to tell people that Blake is great. BUT if someone really does not like him or his music, they’re not likely going to change their minds. And continually harping on it is just going to piss them off. Believe me, I’ve been there, done that. There are some artists that I really cannot stand now, and it’s all their fans faults’. People are entitled their opinions without being made to feel that those opinions are wrong (which is impossible… opinions are opinions) or inferior.

ETA: Everyone has a different taste in music, and like it or not, some critics don’t like AI, never will, and will rarely, if ever, give a good review to an artist that came from AI. Even as much success as Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have had, they still have plenty of detractors. But so does every major artist… not just former AI contestants. At least that’s what I remember every time I read a review.

I don’t think it was Puttin On the Ritz. I bet it was “Give In” he did “Give In” has the same exact beat as Puttin On the Ritz. I guess you can say its sampled but it’s more along the lines of the same bass line and beat.

That’s the song I was referring to… “Give In”. Maybe “sampled” isn’t exactly the word, but I think the melodic similarities are strong enough that he will probably need to give credit to the original writer(s). Unless, of course, it’s not copyrighted anymore, which might be the case with that song. But there’s no mistaking it when you hear it.

Late to the Party here, but I’ve been thinking of Blake all day, and sending him good vibes! I read the post tonite, and just SWOONED, I tell you. I had to keep the *squee-age* down to minimal levels, but…uh, yeah! :-D SUCH a big smile on my face!

So there won’t be footage of this, unless Blake provides any– but it doesn’t stop my imagination. It sounds like it went great, and he had a good time.

Wren here…a newbie…but felt the need to post.

I was sitting with Marcia. She was correct. I felt I would fill in about his outfit as well. It was a off white shirt with a funky print on it as far as I could tell. The bandanna was a shade of red/maroon. Pants were the brownish/black colored pants with the straps in the back that criscross. The hoodie looked like a leather jacket hoodie thing. Hair was definitely spiked and so was Sawka’s! Band mates are quirky. Extremely good show!!

Post-show report: We just got another e-mail from Aunt Marcia. She just wanted us to mention a couple of things…1) Blake DID perform the actual “Putting On The Ritz,” not a song that samples POTR. It was a very Blakized version featuring scatting, etc. 2) The band sounds as if they’ve been playing together for years and put on a great show! 3) There was one song in the mix that they didn’t catch the title of. 4) Thanks to everyone for supporting Blake!

Hey guys, I’ve posted here a few times before and wanted to share a really quick recap of Dallas. I can’t go into too much detail right know, but just know that Blake was amazing. I don’t think there is gonna be much footage, because cameras were absolutely not allowed into the event. I snuck one in, but didn’t really use it because I was scared of getting caught. I did take videos of a couple songs, but trust me they are not worth putting up. You can barely see Blake, and the audio is just as bad.

Alright, as far as what he performed, he satrted off the set with a little song that had the phrase on his myspace, ’some say silence is golden, but i choose noise.’ Then he did Break Anotha! Ok guys, Blake and his band, or as he called them at one point, “my brothers” play so tight together. Seriously, they sound like they’ve been together for years. Like it’s been mentioned, he did a Blakized version of Puttin’ on the Ritz and introduced each of his band members and did a little back and forth with his drummer, Kevin. He did She Loves the Way, the full and uncensored version!
He mentioned that he wrote a song with Chris Rich and then launched into Whatcha Got to Lose. Next came a new song I don’t think we have ever heard and remember hearing the words, don’t say goodbye, or something like that. He closed the set with Know My Name, and I gotta say it sounded just as awesome live, as did Break Anotha.

The only thing that disappointed me was the small audience. A lot of people left when the sporting events were over but they missed out. Blake was on his game, as was the band. I wish I could give you a more detailed account of each song, but I won’t be home until Monday and I gotta go. I’m sure you’ll soon be getting some more reports on how fantastic Blake was. I didn’t think it was possible but I’m even more pumped for ADD now. From the little we’ve heard, I really think his album is gonna blow up. Bye for now everyone!

Coming from an improv background, it also helps that he’s got musicians who have known him a while backing him up. Because you KNOW B will improvise on his songs in concert!!! :)

From the little we’ve heard, I really think his album is gonna blow up.

Wren, here again.

I was reading Nikki’s recap. Like she said, B’s band is awesome. His bass guitar guy(not sure the name), even at one point during a song got on the drum stage and jumped off all rock starish….it was funny and cute. They mesh very well together.

The Don’t Say Goodbye(what I was calling it too) was a really nice song. But Whatcha Got to Lose was the best for me. It killed. It was funky and fresh and oh so fabulous. Break Anotha was truly the first song, but for me the music was way too loud and you couldn’t hear B well. It was still good, but the radio/single version was better because you could hear Blake. Putting on the Ritz was quirky. I liked it, but was staring dreamily at B on stage to really enjoy it. (He is one smexy boy!!!!) Know My Name, while I had heard it on the web and felt it was nice but liked Break Anotha better, completely closed out the show in the best fashion ever!!! It is great on Download, but awesome in live. I loved it and him. I want him to KNOW MY NAME now.(Did before too, but it fits here!)

For the crowd recap, I would say that the crowd upon arriving consisted of mainly younger boys into the action sports and their parents.. I could tell a few people were there just for B(one strange little girl decked out in lime green with sequins and glitter everywhere and her friend). It seemed the crowd did thin out quite a bit before the concert. But there was still people there for B. They seemed mellow most of the time, compared to my screaming fits I was having every silent break…(Yes I was the girl who yelled, We Love You, to which he responded “We love you too”)

Overall consensus says GREAT SHOW!!!!

Quick Question for those who went, Did he call his band A.D.D.? It sounded that way. I could swear he said, “My band is A.D.D. and the Album is Audio Day Dream. I would be extremely blessed/grateful if you would go buy it.” I could be wrong, I was so focus on him, the world and words drifted away…lol

Funny Note:Anyone else crack up(from those there) when the Australian guy said ADD Audio DayDream. He just said it so funny…hehehe

About WYG2L - B mentioned in the past that it is a rework of his old song, Jealousy. Did you recognize it as such? How different is it than the original Jealousy?

Well, I don’t know how many times Blake has played with those guys as a unit, but he’s been friends with all of them for a long time now… He’s played with Sawka several times in the past, and I bet he played with the others a lot, too. I’d like to think that Blake had 100% control over deciding who was in his band but I’m a little skeptical ;). Chris Daughtry wasn’t able to have any of his Absent Element bandmates in Daughtry, although they auditioned for spots. Yeah, I know that B is really a solo artist in name but even so, I don’t think his buddies would have ever been permitted to record tracks or perform live with him if Clive thought they sucked. So, the fact that he CAN have them as his band says alot for their talent and ability.

yeah, i think if he performs them to a couple thousand people he’s obviously thought long and hard about which songs he wants to be out there to entice people to buy his album. i’m pretty much banking on the fact that he would WANT more people to hear them so that come Dec. 4th, people will be so curious as to the other 9 or so tracks on the album that they’d buy it. i have to say i totally disagree with your decision, but i guess anything is good at this point. it’s just sad that so many of us either don’t have the money or the time to see Blake’s first show (such a huge thing in his career) and since no other person has come forward with the fact that they have video, it’s kind of a tease. *sigh*

I just think it’s a little weird to announce that she had videos of everything and then deny us of seeing them. She should have just said she got video of KMN and BA then if that’s all she was going to show. Her reasoning is really silly to me. He performed them to thousands, he wants the songs heard. It’d do him good, and as someone on TWOP said, with the writer’s strike thing and limited promotion, it’d be good to get it up on youtube. I don’t think I’m milking anything… but whatever.

Like I said before, I’ll take what I can get and I’m grateful that Laura took video at all. I just wish there wasn’t that thought in the back of my mind that says: “Great, there’s video out there of all that and I can’t see it”. Ignorance is bliss sometimes.

All I have to say about it - people who took vids are free to psot whatever they want, what they are comfortable with. If Laura doesn’t want to post them all, that’s fine by me. Sure I’d like to see them all… But I’d rather see a few than none at all. So I’ll take what I can get, and with a smile! :) Not coming down on anyone who disagree, or whatever, just saying what I needed to say. And now I’m dropping it! :)

OK…I’m sorry for ruffling feathers about not showing all the vids (I haven’t actually even gotten to see and hear them myself to even tell if the audio is any good, yet!). The reason I’m choosing not to post all of the vids publicly now is because I don’t want my vids to be the source of ripped audio. Once previews of the songs are made available, you can bet that I will post them publicly!

For now, though, sorry gals (and guys!)…I shouldn’t have said that I had the other vids in the first place, and just given you a huge surprise when the audio previews were made available!

yeah, i guess, but thats cuz were huge fans of Blakes, and so were gonna find anything to rationalize the videos..

But she did bring up a valid point. If she does upload them, people are going to ripe them and download them as an MP3, but then again the quality might not be that great. I think (but thats because I’m trying to use my head not my heart), that having the official preview of all the songs would make it more special. but as an addicted fan, of course I want to see those videos, Now, Pronto! but i know that its up to her (Laura) and we shouldn’t get over emotional over it. :D soon enough, we shall have that album in our hands, and soon after we can all go see him in concert.

bottom line = he performed the songs in a public forum. at this point, if they got out, it’d do him good. the fact that the songs would probably be ripped would only present a problem if they were a studio recording and then could pass off as a legitimate “leak”, but clearly that is not going to be the case and anyone who ripped them from the videos would probably just be doing it so they could listen on their ipods (personal enjoyment), not passing it around the media outlets.

ugh, whatever. it is her decision, and i wish she hadn’t said anything to begin with because now i, as well as many, many others are VERY dissapointed.

however, i am looking forward to seeing what IS posted!
