ADD Spoilers

Team Plaid has received some juicy album spoilers that we think most of you won’t want to miss. We have some new info, plus some items that clear up previous rumors/speculation. If you don’t want to know, don’t click after the jump. Heh.

  • They have not decided on a second single yet and this decision will not be made for awhile since “Break Anotha” just impacted this week. Our source mentioned several contenders, including “Without You,” “End of the World,” “Know My Name”, “Gots to Get Her”, “How Many Words”, “Hate 2 Love Her”, “What’cha Got 2 Lose” and “Surrender”. Higher-ups at the label hear multiple contenders, too. In other words, it’s a strong album and anyone’s guess!
  • There will be 9 interludes throughout the album to fit the A.D.D. theme (and don’t expect just beatboxing!). Three of the interludes get their own track numbers (1, 12, 16). The others are hidden, but you can find the names of them in the CD booklet. They were recorded live by Blake’s band (pretty cool, huh?)
  • Unfortunately, RA Scion is not on the album.
  • The rumor about Rich Cronin writing for Blake is false. They never even spoke to him.
  • The version of “Know Your Name” that was leaked was not finished. While it’s similar to what we’ve heard, the new version sounds better and we should look forward to Lupe Fiasco’s contribution.
  • iTunes will have an exclusive track that Blake did with S*A*M and Sluggo in New York called “Human.”
  • WalMart will have exclusive bonus DVD footage.
  • Clive Davis has taken Executive Producer credit, and he doesn’t do that lightly.

Thanks, Source!

    BigD,

hope you and your whole family had a great Thanksgiving :). Those family photos you posted on MS are so cute!

I thought I’d chime in about the whole Justin Guarini-Bo Bice situations where Clive Davis was their producer. I am pretty sure Justin didn’t have nearly as much creative control as Blake, and to be quite frank, I don’t think Justin was AS marketable as Blake either so I’m not shocked that his CD flopped. I never found Guarini overly attractive, and while his singing voice was adequate, he just always struck me as very CHEESY. There was NOTHING compelling about him as far as I am concerned.

Bo’s problem was that he was a 1970’s Lynyrd Skynyrd throwback, and unless you are listening to a classic rock station, you would never hear that genre of music nowadays. Top 40 and HAC stations wouldn’t touch that kind of song with a 10 foot poll. Plus Bo has the long hippy-type hair, he literally LOOKS like he belongs on an album cover from 1973. I heard that Bo was basically told by Clive that he was going to have to do pop music, despite the fact it is NOT his thing, and he was devastated. The only reason that happened is because his preferred style of music is NOT MARKETABLE for Top 40-HAC.

Here is Bo’s new music video, “Witness”:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=YJehjlU-0r4

It sounds like 1970’s Southern rock, so as you can see, it won’t get airplay on mainstream stations. And his most recent CD has only sold 21,000 units so far.

Now, to Blake. He IS good looking, charismatic, compelling, more in line with current musical trends than the likes of a Bo Bice, AND is highly creative. Is it any surprise that Clive would be interested in working with him and letting him have a little artistic freedom?

    Just my two cents ;).

  6. 56 Nic Nov 22nd, 2007 at 6:42 pm

Ah, great to hear about the Regis and Kelly appearance :-). It does seem like alot of his promo may occur right AFTER the album comes out. And that New Year’s Eve gig is huge.

  7. 57 dani Nov 22nd, 2007 at 8:15 pm

Actually, NIC, “Witness” was number 3 on VH1’s Top 20 Countdown. And I’ve heard the song a few times on different radio stations.

Thanks Paula for the information! I’m so excited! Regis and Kelly!!!!

  12. 62 greeneyesxo Nov 23rd, 2007 at 12:53 am

Blake is adding some pics on his myspace that are DEFINITELY worth seeing! They’re in the American Idol Season 6 album! =]

  13. 63 Nic Nov 23rd, 2007 at 12:57 am

    Butet,

you heard Bo’s “Witness” on pop stations? I sure haven’t. Hey, more power to him if he gets alot of mainstream airplay but I’m skeptical. It’s a little concerning that he only sold 21,000 CDs in a month.

Oh my fucking god, that Blake Dec 4th gig is all kinds of AWESOME! Timbaland is huge, 1R is all over the airwaves, Kingston had a #1 hit and a few other hits….

  14. 64 Bouffe Nov 23rd, 2007 at 2:41 am

I wanna go to that gig! But I’m on the east coast. What’s up with Seattle being on the west coast? We have an ocean in the east, too!

    *L*

Those pictures that Blake added tonight are simply amazing. What a great way to say thanks to his fans! :) He’s spoiling us. :)

  15. 65 dani Nov 23rd, 2007 at 2:45 am

I want to see the pics!!!

  16. 66 Christina Nov 23rd, 2007 at 9:55 am

Loved the spoilers, they definately did clear up a few things! I hope everyones Thanksgiving was wonderful and better than expected for all! I had a wonderful day and am thankful for more than I can list here lol!

  17. 67 Pam Nov 23rd, 2007 at 10:55 am

    Guys,

Here is an interview that Blake did with The Vine @ E Online. Blake apparently has bronchitis again, but the interview was awesome otherwise! Here is the link.

  18. 68 Lara Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:03 am

oh thanks pam, that was adorable! i don’t think he has bronchitis again, though - he was just talking about how when he did, it derailed his recording for a bit.

  19. 69 ld Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:32 am

    When I clicked on the link I got “no longer available”. :{

  20. 70 Sarah Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:39 am

Looks like the promotional appearances the week of his release have been booked! We should start getting more of these soon (a list please?? :)).

I have this *little* feeling that Blake may get a lot of gigs with some pretty high profile artists because of his connection with Ryan Tedder. ;)

Oh and YAY for the scoop! Thanks, source!

  21. 71 Crystal Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:40 am

Pam - thank for posting that E Online Vid. That was nice and cute - and the guys doing the interview were actually asking pretty sensible questions. This looks like some of the promo we’ve been hearing about. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of these!

  22. 72 NBNN Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:45 am

Id - I would try again. It looks like it is still working, probably just a momentary glitch.

  23. 73 Pam Nov 23rd, 2007 at 12:10 pm

    Crystal,

    Your welcome!

It was really cute. It was a shame that B had that bronchitis again, but it was an awesome interview just like you said with sensible interviewers for a change without the stupid questions! LOL

It does look like the radio interviews that we have been hearing about have indeed started! Yay! I would love to see a list myself! lol

  24. 74 ld Nov 23rd, 2007 at 12:14 pm

NBNN, thanks for the tip but after 4 tries of it not working I finally gave up! My guess would be that the interview may have been recorded earlier (when B. had bronchitis.

  25. 75 Pam Nov 23rd, 2007 at 12:37 pm

Guys, if anyone is interested in going to the Jingle Bell bash, here is the link for Ticketmaster info.

Oh yeah I’m interested but there is now way I could go!!! I’m all the way in Indianapolis and I can’t afford a plain ticket haha!!! I’m a broke bimbo :thumbdown_tb:

  27. 77 Pam Nov 23rd, 2007 at 1:03 pm

    Christina,

haha! I’m broke too! Join the club! LOL

  28. 78 star Nov 23rd, 2007 at 1:36 pm

It was a shame that B had that bronchitis again,

He didn’t have bronchitis again…he was just talking about how it affected his recording when he did have it.

ld I tried to rip the video off of E!’s website so I could upload it to GoFish or YouTube but I didn’t have any luck. :(

  29. 79 ld Nov 23rd, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Thanks Star! I guess I can live without it. I’ll just hold out for more Blake - I’m sure there’s plenty of new stuff coming soon!

  30. 80 dani Nov 23rd, 2007 at 2:51 pm

guys have you seen this video of Blake yet???
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9-avrGTk9U&feature=related

  31. 81 Crystal Nov 23rd, 2007 at 4:17 pm

Dani - I have seen that before, but it’s great to see these three together. So, I watched again. I almost wanted to tell Blake to be quiet so I could hear what BT was saying. *wink* This has to be an example of one reason producers like working with him. He actually hears what they are saying and does it - cooperation.

On this watch, I wonder if this might be one of the interludes, since B said he wanted to keep it under 2 minutes.

  32. 82 dani Nov 23rd, 2007 at 4:55 pm

ya I think it is cuz he was beatboxing agains KJ also did you here one of the say holy jesus and then Blake says yes my child oflight (that was so cute and funny) then he said just kidding!!! I love that it’s so cute!

  33. 83 Nic Nov 23rd, 2007 at 5:29 pm

    Crystal,

I’m quite sure that’ll be one of the interludes on the CD, from the sounds of it. Maybe one of the ones listed on the album track, although I remember reading there’s supposed to be NINE total??? Hahah BShorty overload ;).

Yes, he does seem cooperative in the studio and that’s probably why Clive had such glowing praise for him. He also makes his producers laugh their asses off from the looks of it :D.

  34. 84 Butet Nov 23rd, 2007 at 6:05 pm

    Thanks Pam for the links!

Oh, Dani, lol, srry I must of over read it. you only have 3 more years! I hope you make it!

  35. 85 Pam Nov 23rd, 2007 at 8:17 pm

    Your welcome Butet!

  36. 86 karen Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:45 pm

I have this *little* feeling that Blake may get a lot of gigs with some pretty high profile artists because of his connection with Ryan Tedder. ;)

I know. That is so cool. I am glad he has those connections. It will make it easier to enter the music industry scene.

  37. 87 dani Nov 23rd, 2007 at 11:48 pm

actually 4 because I was born in september and not july…. (but who nkows I can be conving and maybe they’d let me audition at 15 going on to 16 in a few months???)

  38. 88 Nic Nov 24th, 2007 at 12:29 am

Ryan Tedder is certainly a good person to know, since he’s hooked up with Timbaland (everything he touches seems to turn into gold) AND his band has the most played song in the country at the moment.

Actually, if you check out the world charts, “Apologize” has gone #1 or been near the top of the charts in several countries, pretty impressive! Besides the USA, also Canada, Australia, New Zealand, U.K., Ireland, Austria, Poland, Germany Sweden, Norway, Turkey, the list goes on….

So yeah, Blake’s got VERY sweet connections ;).

  39. 89 Butet Nov 24th, 2007 at 1:13 pm

you heard Bo’s “Witness” on pop stations?

    Nic
, LOL, No it wasn’t a pop station. It was some type of rock station. But it would have been cool if then did play it on the Top 40 Stations, but its what Top 40 People listen too.

  40. 90 dani Nov 24th, 2007 at 1:22 pm

I’ve heard bo on my local top 40, but thats probally becaus he’s from Alabama!

  41. 91 Bully Nov 24th, 2007 at 11:28 pm
