ADD Press Release

As promised by Pure Tone Music, here’s the press release with more details about Blake’s Audio Daydream! Check out this high praise from Clive Davis:

Blake knows music, is deeply involved and connected with the process and we all had a ball making this album. The results are so gratifying. Blake comes to the fore as a totally fresh, creative, edgy and bold new artist, poised to break through right out of the gate.

And 19E’s Simon Fuller:

Blake is an extraordinary artist; talented, distinctive and unique. He has made a fantastic debut album, and I am so looking forward to all his fans hearing it — they will love it.

Even more impressive is Blake’s numerous songwriting credits, and yes - OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder is all over the album too!

Tedder and Lewis co-wrote and Tedder produced numerous other tracks on the debut including “Gots To Get Her” (Inspired by “Puttin’ On The Ritz”), “Hate 2 Love Her,” “Know My Name” featuring Lupe Fiasco (co-written by Tedder, Josh Hoge and Lewis), “Surrender” (co-written by Tedder and E. Kidd Bogart), and “I Got U.” In addition, Jonathan “JR” Rotem, (who worked with Rihanna on her No. 1 single “SOS”) produced and co-wrote the track “What’cha Got 2 Lose?” along with Lewis and his Idol co-finalist Chris Richardson.

Says Blake of his debut effort:

This album is exactly how I wanted it to come out. It’s like an ’80s mix tape, with some hip-hop and electronic influences. I wanted to make a record where every song sounds like it could be on the radio, but my radio. 2000-’80s Blake radio is what I call it.

Can’t wait to tune in to Blake Radio on 12/4!

thank you Donna! ♥

I’m not too worried about the final studio cut of “Know My Name”. As long as it’s not drastically altered from the leaked version we heard, I’m sure I’ll like it :-).

I’m really dying to hear the studio version of “Here’s My Hello”, by the way!

    dani,

Here it is in plain English. lol Basically, the version of Know My Name that was leaked was not the finished version that you will hear on the CD.

Steph needs to film more random shirtless push up videos ;). Blake or not! LMFAO. That boy is really quite smoking HOT.

    Totally agree Nic!!!

    BigD -

Thanks for stopping by! I am 100% sure that the official, final version of KMN will be more than great. I already love KMN as it was, so I can only imagine how the finish product will be! The time is near for the album to come out, and we are all growing impatient… :)

Caleb Cunningham has a new Lionheart song on his MySpace page! Of course, if that didn’t get you over there…We Came to Get Down marked as Blake Lewis featuring Caleb is available for free download, if ya don’t already have it! :-)

I just saw over at the Blaker Girls LJ that Blake’s guitarist just posted a bulletin at his MySpace. They’re scheduled to do an AOL Live Session tomorrow and Blake and the band have been booked to some talk shows next month and Blake will be performing New Year’s Eve, Times Square.

  9. 59 Michelle Nov 18th, 2007 at 10:03 pm

Blake will be performing New Year’s Eve, Times Square.

    O_O Holy crap!!! that’s awesome!!!

Oh yeah! I wonder for which station. I hope MTV, just because the New Years eve thing is generally focused on music. But either way: WHOOT WHOOT!

Oh I’m so stoked! An AOL Live Session! HOTTT!!!

    Thanks Charles

AOL Session = WOO FREAKING HOO!!!!

    Yes it does! :D

  13. 63 Sherry Nov 19th, 2007 at 4:16 am

AOL Sessions sounds great. So does New Year’s Eve.
I’m really trying not to be worried.
But….BA is down to 29 stations playing (31 yesterday) and down to #93 on itunes. I hope things turn around this week with the official radio push.

  14. 64 RollTide Nov 19th, 2007 at 9:50 am

    Yay for New Year’s Eve!!

  15. 65 Lisa Nov 19th, 2007 at 10:41 am

I’ve explained several times what it means when the number of stations shrinks. Right now the song isn’t even being added to playlists yet. Stations are giving it test spins and not all are playing it regularly. If a station plays a song one or two times as test spin and doesn’t play it again then that station won’t be considered one of the stations playing it.

Sherry, not for anything but I thought you of all would be happy with the latest news. You wanted a Times Square gig and talk sow circuit, Blake is going to have that and more. He wouldn’t have even been booked for a New Years Eve gig if Arista thought he was going to be a huge failure by then. Not everyone explodes right off the bat. From all things I’ve heard they’re very excited about this album and plan on pushing it.

  16. 66 Anne Nov 19th, 2007 at 10:50 am

    Yay for New Year’s Eve!!

    I agree RollTide, how exciting:)

  17. 67 Pam Nov 19th, 2007 at 11:01 am

Stations are giving it test spins and not all are playing it regularly. If a station plays a song one or two times as test spin and doesn’t play it again then that station won’t be considered one of the stations playing it.

I know this site isn’t the the same as Mediabase obviously but I monitor the plays on the yes.com site and you can always tell the new stations from the existing stations because if it’s a new station, there will not be a chart position # next to the song. It will come up as n/a.

Actually Sherry that # of stations playing at Mediabase has kind of flip flopped a little and that’s normal because it does seem to be new stations giving it test plays one day and then back to around the same #’s the next day. I’ve kind of got used to seeing that. After tomorrow, we might really start seeing this pick up with airplay especially when you factor in all the promo and as Lisa pointed out, it hasn’t been added to playlists just yet.

  18. 68 Christina Nov 19th, 2007 at 11:32 am

OMG!!! Very exciting news about the AOL session and Time Square deal! I’m not scared about him making it big because I know he will! He’s already got a huge fan base it can only get bigger!!!!

  19. 69 Bully Nov 19th, 2007 at 12:54 pm

I am loving the download from Caleb’s site. BShorty totally MAKES it, you-all. I don’t really know how many times I’ve listened to it..

Blake has new piccies added to his albums, if you haven’t looked in awhile. It was smile-worthy, as is all the idols re-working their TopFriends. Haley is up at Sligh’s, and it was really nice hearing her sing again. I really love the “smile” in her voice.

About Times Square? I am TOTALLY excited about it. Can not wait.

  20. 70 speakergirl Nov 19th, 2007 at 1:26 pm

Which song is it you guys are downloading from Caleb’s page? I’ve had We Came to Get Down for quite some time…talk about a song that gets stuck in your head!

  21. 71 Bully Nov 19th, 2007 at 1:42 pm

speakergirl–yup– it’s Came to get down, a studio type version. (I’d heard the YouTube Live one.)

  22. 72 Bouffe Nov 19th, 2007 at 1:50 pm

Bully - seems to me this studio version has been available for a while now? At least I’ve had it for a while… *shrug* Oh well! It is a good song, and Blake is great on it. I like the faster pace of the live version better, but I love both versions equally…. :)

  23. 73 Kilroy Nov 19th, 2007 at 3:24 pm

So all the talk about Ryan Tedder and One Republic is making me want to download their album tomorrow - anyone know if it’s streaming anywhere (legally) for a pre-listen?

I really hope the Tedder connection helps with radio for Blake. I heard APOLOGIZE on Z100 four times yesterday (and “Tattoo” once, as well as Jordin advertised for the Jingle Ball) on a short drive.

Seeing the Jordin reviews coming out is making me eager for the critical response to ADD. I wish her well (”Shy Boy”) sounds like a hit. I’m with a lot of you that KMN sounds great in the leaked version, but I’m eager to hear the final version. I think B collaborates so well with hip hop artists.

  24. 74 Michelle Nov 19th, 2007 at 3:54 pm

Kilroy– there are snippets from each track on Dreaming Out Loud at its Amazon page, and 2 tracks (inc. Apologize) streaming at their MySpace. There used to be more at their MS (I remember really liking “Goodbye Apathy”) but they had to take them down cause someone made them downloadable when they shouldn’t have been.

I wonder why Z100 is not playing Blake yet?
I hope they do after tomorrow. How about Ryan Seacrest? Just saying.

  26. 76 Pam Nov 19th, 2007 at 4:11 pm

Actually, Zl00 had been playing Blake and even Romeo had added BA as one his hot pics on his hot pics list which I saw on AllAccess.com not too long after the single came out, but it hasn’t been on that list in quite sometime but that’s not saying it won’t ever be played on there again though. In fact, BA had been taken off the list of hot pics for WHBQ in Memphis last week and I just noticed a few minutes ago that it has been added back to that list.

  27. 77 Pam Nov 19th, 2007 at 5:03 pm

Here is a really awesome article from MTV that talks about the BA video and BA itself.

You can click on the link to read the full article but here is an interesting section in there about the BA video:

Lewis worked with a cornucopia of producers on A.D.D., including OneRepublic’s Ryan “Alias” Tedder, Sam Watters, J.R. Rotem, BT, David Hodges, Mike Elizondo, S*A*M and Sluggo, and Sean Hurley. The set features guest spots by Lupe Fiasco, former LFO member Rich Cronin and even boasts the pipes of fellow “Idol” finalist Chris Richardson. Lewis recently finished working on the video for the LP’s first single, “Break Anotha,” which was shot against a green screen and has an interesting concept behind it.

“It’s hard to describe, but you know how when you open Rorschach inkblot tests, how they have two different sides? It’s going to be like that,” he said. “There’s going to be, like, ink and water, and different effects behind me that come in.”

  28. 78 Nikki Nov 19th, 2007 at 5:25 pm

Did you guys just see the little segment they did on Blake on TRL? They showed a little bit of him doing his video! They played an interview they did with him, which is where that article came from that Pam posted. Can I just say, he looked sooo good! Oh, and I was only watching TRL cause Jordin was on today, honestly.

Rorschach BShorty imagery in the music video? Ah, how appropriate, since “Break Anotha” is a song that Freud would have a field day with, hee! :-)
